These are pedestrian issues.
They won't make the country great.
They are altruistic, but not going to lead to greatness.
Prove...

So if the country spend a huge amount of money to build a drainage system and people turn it to a dump site...so what will you say

Well, I will not entirely agree with this your view, a brother once told me that an average American didn't just obey the law, but because there is a system in place where by when you commit a crime of £5, you paid £1000 fine without any exclusion to anybody they were cause to obey the law. The problem is not the citizens it is leadership and the system.
The citizens produce the leader. We cant have a good leader without first having good citizens.

I dont know if what the person said is true. But I know an American will not go to a country like Nigeria and drink pure water and throw the sachet on the road.

They will not bribe also.... let's think. They have their problem and they are mostly immorality problem but for these bad attitudes..... they don't behave like us. We need to change our mentalities.

Make leaders first change their ways, Empower institutions that will work, proper renumeration for it's officers, maximum sanction for unethical practices.

Nigerians will adjust. Nobody likes to comply rules including whitey
We need to first change. We produce leaders. They dont jump down from planet Mars.

With bad attitude even with good drainage system we will still soil it with nylon, bottles and co.

Even if law enforcement agents are sent around to upload cleanliness law, they will still collect bribe and the who infrastructure collapses again.

The little infrastructure we have, if we all obey the law and maintain them, you think it's not enough for us to boast of

Besides what do you expect from someone of age 50 years who has been disobeying rules. It means the person must have been throwing plastic bottles into our gutters for like 45 years. It means he has been bribing for 45 years. It means he has been jumping queues for 45 years....in short he has been disobeying laws for about 45 years. Now he or she becomes a governor or president....so how will the person performhuh?

We need to correct the problem now. All these bad attitudes are exported to Aso rock and our governor houses. A leader can't perform with these bad attitudes.

The fundamental problem is these bad attitude.

A refined person who have a right mindset will not misbehave when he gets to power.

Nigerians think and understand these things

Exactly these are the problems. The mentality of I want to buy Benz without working to earn money legitimately is the problem. Nigerians want quick money. Something is not right with us.

The government need to add attitude/behavioural acts as courses to our school system.

People of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

Someone who has been paying bribes in schools, offices etc will collect bribe when he gets to the position of leadership. That's how it is.

Truly, Nigeria still have a long way to go. Most times I would say comparing Nigeria to USA and other small developed world is wrong. Because they have gained independence a long time before Nigeria eg. USA. Nevertheless, there are some other developed country such as China with little difference in year of Independence and other developing nation like Ghana that are still in some way better than Nigeria.

The fact that cannot be argued is that, 90% of Nigerians are the problem of their country. The manner and acts some people exhibit in this country is so pathetic, uncivilized, stupid and any sort of bad adjectives that could go with the exact act being displayed.

Thus, I think if we can start mentioning these bad and stupid habits of Nigerians that really shows how bad the future seems for Nigerians. It could help majority and put Nigeria on the right path to greatness. Remember, the impact of a better country can only begin to show only when the people of the Nation, poor or rich, educated or not, regardless of ethnicity changed their ways.

I will start with few things i've noticed - those that I can remember, that made me SMH for this nation.

a. Saw a comment on a topic on Nairaland about Things Our Android Phones can do that most are not aware of. The commenter concur to the usefulness of the information and at the same time regard it as useless. Makes me SMH for this country.

b. I see some people that call themselves educated in my institution but prefer to pack their car on the grass and destroyed the place by doing so. Makes me SMH for this country.

c. Getting to lecture rooms of students of the higher institution and seeing how dirty it is kept. Some will finished eating and drop the food pack in the lecture room. This makes me SMH for this country.

d. The manners at which Nigerians drop dirt anywhere they are make me SMH for the country.

e. Almost all students in SUG and other school groups embezzle most/all the fund allocated to them. This makes me SMH for this Nation.

And so on.....
God bless you

How is it leadership when our attitude is bad. Take Nigerians to US and Bring Americans to Nigeria and watch what will happen.

Nigerians with these bad attitude will easily destroy the country. And Americans will easily develop Nigeria.

It is mentality issue.

See, if we can change these attitudes first... our remaining problem which is systemic will easily be solved.

* Nigerian leaders don't obey traffic lights

* Prison , police, military, civil defence all use siren to oppress other road users and pedestrians

* Same set of Nigerian leaders obey the domestic rules when they go abroad.

* Nigerian citizens subsidise security, water, electricity and fuel

Maybe it's our fault our roads are death traps, no refineries and we're 6th oil producing country in the world.

No hospital, our leaders fly abroad to treat headache.

Our higher institutions are a mess.

If we Nigerians cant work on these attitudes and change, I am afraid we can never produce a good leader. That's the implication.

Politics10 Bad Attitudes Nigerians Must Drop To Make The Country Great by Olumyco(op): 3:36pm On Jul 29, 2019
Nigeria's problem is not Leadership but 70% of her citizens and 30% of her system. Drop bad attitude today and watch 70% of our country's problem disappear.

There have been talks and discussions on how Nigeria can come out of her numerous problems. To me I think we need to first begin with change of attitude. Our mindsets/mentalities are not right and these have affected our attitudes. I believe if we can change our attitudes, the larger part of our problems will be solved. Below are ten attitudes every Nigerian out there needs to work on and drop.

1. Most Nigerians are found of the habit of throwing things like plastic bottles, sachets of pure water and so on around which litter the environment. This is a bad attitude that we must drop. When you finish drinking a sachet of pure water, don't throw it to the ground. Keep it in your pocket or inside your bag and dispose it properly into a dust bin or a dump site. We most complain that our cities and towns are dirty but we have failed to acknowledge the fact that we are responsible for this. We complain of poor drainage system but the not too good ones we have are being packed with wastes by us and this often leads to flooding. If you and I learn to dispose those things we dont need again properly it will help our environment. Pouring dirty water on the road, throwing shells of fruits on the ground and so on are some of the bad attitudes we need to drop as a good citizen.

2. Drivers and Car Owners in Nigeria are found of disobeying traffic rules by using "One Way" concept to skip traffic on the normal road they are in. This is bad. Driving through One Way as people would say is a bad attitude. Nigerians should learn to be patient. This bad attitude has cost us more evil than good. We blame our leaders for our problem in this country but we fail to realise we are our own problem. Is it President Buhari that said you should go and take "One Way"? And why must our Government spend so much to enforce law on the people?
As a driver or a car owner, never drive through one way. Irrespective of how intense the "hold up" is. Obey traffic rules

3. Nigerians are found of this habit of displaying impatience by jumping queues. You just came and then go to the front to start begging someone to allow you enter or want to force your way through. This is very bad.
Never jump a queue. Don't go and talk to your friend to allow you to stay at his front or at his back. It's a bad attitude. Learn to respect people who came before you. Learn to be patient to queue at the back of the last person on the queue.

4. Nigerians like 'awoof'. We always want to achieve things without paying money. Stop this attitude. It is bad. When there is a service or product that requires money, please pay. If you don't have, wait till you will have. Look at the Electricity issue in Nigeria. Non-payment of electricity bills is one of the problems. Also illegal connection is another issue. Develop a mindset that paying for a service you are benefiting from is the best. Government is not Nigeria's problem but the attitude of the people. Stop looking for free things. Try and always pay for what you need and want. Look at our private schools, a parent will put his child in this type of school and refuse to pay but can pay for Aso Ebi when a ceremony arises. How will the school pay salaries to their staffs? Some Youths wants a situation where by they can call or browse without paying... looking for cheap code up and down, even desiring that the credit codes of these our telecom companies leak out and then begin to use it. We need to change our mindset on this, so that we will not be part of this country's problem.

5. Nigerians have this mindset that the law is made for the poor and not the rich. They believe with money you can breach the law and bribe your way through. This is a bad attitude.
Stop bribing your way out of the breach of the law. Pay penalties when you breach the law. You don't have driver's license and you are driving and now you are caught and instead of you to ask for the penalty and do the right thing, you are bringing out money to bribe. It is bad. Nigerians should stop giving law enforcement agencies money. Try and know the law and the fines. Many Nigerians always put up this contempt attitude against the law. They just do things anyhow with the hope that if anything happens they will pay bribe. All in the name of "Money Stops Nonsense".
The problem of corruption begins with this bad attitude. People who pay bribes are liable to collect it too when the opportunity comes. Desist from doing this. Pay fines, royalties, charges and whatever you are required to pay when you fall victim of the law or use a service. The World will not collapse on you for doing this.

6. Nigerians have this I don't care attitude. You see an inscription that says "No Parking" and you went ahead to park there. What's the meaning of that? You see "No Hawking" and you go ahead to hawk there. Nigerians should desist from this bad attitude of I don't care. Be observant of rules inscribed on sign posts or walls or whatever around you and obey.

7. Many Road Users like pedestrians, drivers, hawkers, riders and so on have this bad attitude of anger. You and I must have witnesse one driver calling another driver "Fool", "Animal" and so on... even cursing the person. This is not good. It is true that someone one the road might have done something wrong, if you cannot correct him politely please keep quiet and go your way. Also if you were insulted or cursed on the road, ignore, don't talk and go your way. If you know you have made a mistake on the road, say sorry. Learn to admit and apologise. We are our own problem. This bad attitude of insulting and cursing another road user can result to a terrible fight. It can even cause hold up on the high way. Why should we be behaving like this? The insult or the curse won't affect you. Just ignore the person and see the person as not being matured and move on. A matured person should be able to control his or her emotions.

8. Going to the house of a Politician or a rich person to hail, bow and beg for money is a bad attitude. This is one of the reasons we are backward. Stop making these people look like they have solutions to your problems. Stop collecting fish. Learn to catch fish yourself. This is very common with Street boys, Thugs and people in the small towns and villages. When a politician or a rich man is passing or goes to his village, the next thing you see is people flocking around the person. It's a bad attitude. It takes thinking outside the box to see that this thing is wrong. This bad attitude has enthrown thuggery and God Fatherism in our country.

Also is begging someone for money indirectly by hailing him and asking him for what he brought for you. This is common with gatemen, people/officers who work at Airports, non-teaching staffs who work at tertiary institutions and so on. Learn to believe in yourself and work for your own money and stop depending on someone.

9. Extorting People is another bad attitude common with Nigerians. A taxi driver during rainfall can decide to inflate the transport fare just for nothing. Imagine a seller saying a bread of 100 naira is 300 naira just because he or she sees you as a stranger or from another tribe or that you are desperate about it. It's bad looking for money this way. Products or Services that have fixed price should not be inflated for any reason. It is cheating. You are taking advantage of the person by leveraging on circumstances surrounding the person at that time.

10. The whole attitude problem can be summed up in one sentence as "Achieving a goal easily and quickly without following due process". Many Nigerians hate "Due Process". We want fast things. We want quick money. We want easy money. No one wants to labour following due process. No one wants to do the right thing. May God help us.
If we don't drop these bad attitudes, it will be difficult for us to develop as a nation.
Many people are ignorant of the fact that Leadership is not our problem but the attitude of the citizens. Even the leaders come from the citizens, so the problem is taking everywhere. A Nigerian is always a Nigerian and no matter the position he or she occupies whether low or high he will continue to cause problem for the country.
The rubbish throwers, queue jumpers, one way drivers, indirect beggars, extortioners etc are part of our problem in this country. So are The Almajiris, the Agberos, the Omo Oniles, Thugs, Cultists and other evil people.

In conclusion, before you step out of your house in the morning always take time and ruminate over those bad attitudes you are using to cause problem for this great nation and then make up your mind to desist from doing them. Tell yourself, I want to be a good citizen by doing the right thing always. I must not be part of this country's problem any more. Then step out do your work, earn your money, help someone, be happy and make your environment a better place. If every Nigerian can do this and become good citizens, 70% of our problem will die a natural death and Nigeria will become very developed.

God bless Nigeria and her people.

Thanks.

This is webometric ranking and I don't think its the most authentic one.

The most common is Times Higher Education Ranking
And their ranking for 2019 ranks University of Ibadan and Covenant as number one in Nigeria and number 6 in Africa.

To me this webometric might be misleading.
Times Higher Education has been in this business and they uses different factors that to rank.

Christianity EtcRe: Religion Is Not The Reason For Backwardness In Africa, Our Leaders Are by Olumyco(m): 6:45pm On Jul 21, 2019
The problem of Africa is not bad leaders. It is not religion either. The problem of Africa is YOU and I. Our ATTITUDE/MENTALITY/MINDSET/PERSPECTIVE is the reason why we are in this present state.

Is it our leaders that say someone should liter the country with sachet of pure water? Our attitude is bad. We are not honest. We give BRIBES, tell LIES and so on all in the name of getting money. We are GREEDY.

The problem of Africa is the way we think. Why should a person jump the queue and go and enter in the front... can you see that. Why should someone go and connect his electricity illegally. Why should someone drive through one way which is illegal... these and many others have put us where we are. We are not thinking rightly.

As we react to this thread... some people are still looking at how they can browse without paying for data. They don't want to pay for anything. Can you see how Nigerians think. People dont want to pay for the services they enjoy. See the way people are reacting with insults and showcasing tribalism up and down on Nairaland... is it a leader or religion that instruct them to do that? No
Our thinking is terribly bad. We are not thinking straight. We all need to go to a school of Attitude and learn.

Let"s know our problem. It will help us tackle it better. If we change our attitude, our leadership will change automatically. Leaders don't come down from heaven. It comes from the people.

Africans! Change your attitudes and watch your continent blossom.

Christianity EtcRe: As Christians, How Can We Overcome Sin? by Olumyco(m): 5:09pm On Jul 21, 2019
Dafemich:
The Lord Jesus Christ said he not that the Father take us away from this world, but he should keep in His own name. So we are still here in this world.

As a Christian, we live a life that after we leave this world, we would make heaven. But in this world that sin is on the high every day, you can't live every minute without encountering huge temptations to sin.

Everyday, the devil is just bring up different types of methods to sin. But I believe there is a way. A way to overcome sin in the flesh.

So I want us Christians to discuss, what is that way? What is the way that Christ lay down to overcome sin?
For a person to stop committing sin, he needs to first pray for salvation. When he gets saved, he needs to press forward to be sanctified and lastly get baptised with the Holy Ghost and Fire.

These three Christian experiences are essential to conquer sin in this world. Salvation takes care of your committed sin. That is, sin as an act. You receive pardon for sin when you get saved. Sanctification takes care of inbred sin. That is, sin as a nature. The root of sin is uprooted. The old man that makes us sin is killed. You receive purity when you get sanctified. Baptism of the Holy Ghost gives you power for service. That is power to endure and work for God

The three Ps

Pardon - Purity - Power

SportsRe: AFCON: Nigerians React After Algeria Defeated Super Eagles by Olumyco(m): 6:37pm On Jul 15, 2019
The game of football involves alot and to me it can be divided into two things

1. Offense

2. Defense

In football formation, we have 5 offensive guys and 5 defensive guys.

In football, there are guys who possesses these two tactics irrespective of where they play on the field. A coach is to study this and know when to use a player.

Also most formation has both offensive and defensive tactics. A good coach knows when to use each tactic and also when to switch.

Looking at the crop of players we have I can say this of them in relation to these two tactics (wingers and Defenders)

1. Ola Aina - Defensive and Offensive

2. Collins Jamiu - Defensive

3. Toost Ekrong - Defensive

4. Omeruo - Defensive

5. Awaziem - Defensive and Offensive

6. Ahmed Musa - Offensive and Defensive

7. Moses Simon - Offensive and Defensive

8. Samuel Chukweze - Offensive

9. Henry Onyekuru - Offensive

Now to me Rohr tried to manage these attributes in our players but not well managed as there is conflict of pattern with what we have.

To manage a team like this, 3-5-2 formation would be the best.

Having two left and right back who can defend and support in an attack and also left and right wingers who can offend and support in a defense fits in into 3-5-2 formation. 3-5-2 can easily switch to 5-3-2 for defense.

Now to me

Omeruo - Full Central Back
Ola Aina - Left Back
Awaziem - Right Back

Ahmed Musa - Left Wing
Moses Simon- Right Wing

For who to Strike, first of all, we all should know that Ighalo is not a good striker. To me Nigeria does not have a striker at the moment. I would suggest Samuel Chukweze be converted to a striker for us. In playing a number 9 role, you must be a threat to your opponent defense when live or dead ball is with you. You must also be confident to manoeuvre box 18 and shoot on target. You must be good in positioning yourself for live feed. In fact Strikers are chances converters while playmakers are chances creators. I believe Chukweze will play the no.9 role very well if converted to play the role. Chukweze has movement, skills and stamina to strike for us. The goal he scored against South Africa proves this.

If we observe very well our midfield keep collapsing especially against Cameroon and South Africa. What could be the cause? It is because we lack pattern. Our formation is not fitting in with attributes of our players. The problem is that Etebo and Ndidi were coming to the back to assist the defenders. Our keeper too was always shooting the ball out instead of passing to the closest person to build a strong pattern from the back.

To me this formation will likely work for us

Awaziem.......Omeruo........Aina

Simon........Ndidi.......Etebo.......Ekrong.......Musa

Iwobi.........Chukweze

With a good keeper, this kind of formation can face and finish any team.

Onyekuru, Collins, Ighalo can be sub based on Defensive pattern or Offensive pattern. But to have both playout based on opponent drive, the above is the best.

Chukweze should learn how to play free kicks and be good like Ronaldo, Mahrez and co. Lobatan

Rohr should still be allowed to stay but needs to rearrange the team according to what they can offer like the above.

Thanks

The three most developed countries in Africa are Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt.

Nigeria leads in Economy

South Africa leads in Infrastructure

Egypt leads in Military

It is looking interesting that AFCON has initiated a clash between the three Giants of Africa: Nigeria from West Africa, Egypt from North Africa and South Africa from Southern Africa.

Football is funny.... is this predetermined or a mere coincidence?

Few days ago, South Africa clashed with Egypt and knocked them off. Today, 10th July, 2019, South Africa again will clash with Nigeria. Is it just a mere coincidence or what can we call this that South Africa met Egypt, a giant few days ago and again today they will be meeting another giant, Nigeria.

Will South Africa be able to come out as the leading giant among the three?

Will Nigeria be able to prove that she is the true giant?

The battle is for leadership is now between Nigeria and South Africa on the continent.

God bless these three Countries. Go Nigeria, Go South Africa, Go Egypt

kingsley989:
I have read your response to those who quoted you. I must say you are a brilliant personality. But brilliance is not enough... Seek WISDOM!!! God never created anyone to be poor. POVERTY is a curse. 2 Corinthians 8:9. Go to the Bible.
You are misinterpreting 2 Cor 8:9

See the Bible is expressed in three languages:

1. Symbolical

2. Figurative

3. Literal

Sir you are interpreting that verse as a literal sentence whereas it is figurative.

The meaning of that Verse is this:

Jesus is the Son of God who is sits at the right hand of the father in heaven full of Glory, Honour and Majesty

Jesus submitted his glory and all His fullness in heaven before coming to this world to come and die for us.
The meaning of "...He became poor" is that He left His glory in heaven. He stripped Himself of His mightiness so that He can live among us. He stripped Himself of His immortal body to put on mortal fleshy body like Humans. This made Him poor. He was not who He was in heaven.

Jesus did this so that He can live among us and die for us. If Jesus came with His glory and His fullness. No one would be able to near Him. Infact no one would be able to look at His face because it beams with a bright light of Glory. Infact no one would have been able to arrest Him and that would have made His death impossible.

The part that says, "...that....might be rich". That is, we should be rich means that we might be rich spiritually. The richness of our part being talked about there is not physical. It is spiritual. Let's get this right. Jesus coming to this world lifted mankind from his poor spiritual state to rich spiritual state.

If the our main problem in this world is about physical poverty, God would have sent a business man to liberate us by creating businesses and industries for us. If our problem is how to combat a particular disease, He would have sent a Doctor. But our major problem is sin which is also the cause of other problems in this world, thus, the reason God sent a SAVIOUR. A Saviour saves people. JESUS came to save us from our SINS.

Thanks.
PoliticsNigeria Ranks 148th Most Peaceful Country In The World by Olumyco(op): 12:29pm On Jun 20, 2019
Europe remains the most peaceful region in the world and it recorded a very slight improvement in peacefulness after several years of deterioration,’ the report said.

‘However, despite these improvements, the broader political environment in Europe remains uncertain, and resurgent nationalism and terrorism remain significant threats to peace.’

Brexit was also mentioned, as researchers said the UK ‘continues to struggle with its plan for exiting the European Union’ in what they called a ‘mixed’ year for international relations.

Japan scored highly among leading world powers, coming in as the world’s 9th-most peaceful country.

Germany was 22nd, the United Kingdom 45th and France 60th, while the United States dropped four places to 128th.

The report’s authors cited ‘growing political polarisation’ in America, adding that tensions had grown between Washington and Iran.

‘Confidence in US leadership has fallen the most in the past five years, with people now having more confidence in China than the US on average,’ they noted.

Australia’s score also fell slightly, as researchers said the country had increased its military expenditure and weapons imports.

Russia scored badly, coming 10th from bottom, below North Korea.

Afghanistan was bottom, scoring even worse than Syria, where ISIS was swept out of its last patch of territory earlier this year.

‘Despite the improvement this year, the world remains considerably less peaceful now than a decade ago,’ the report’s authors said.

‘A wide range of factors drove the fall in peacefulness over the past decade including increased terrorist activity, the intensification of conflicts in the Middle East, rising regional tensions in Eastern Europe and northeast Asia, increasing numbers of refugees, and heightened political tensions in Europe and the U.S.,’ they explained.

The slight uptick in peacefulness this year was partly fuelled by a reduction in military spending, the report found.

Seventy-two of the countries studied had reduced their level of military expenditure as a share of GDP.

There were also particular regional improvements, including in North Macedonia which struck an agreement with Greece to settle the long-running name dispute between the countries.

There was also an easing of the conflict in Ukraine, where fewer lives were lost.

Not all countries were included in the rankings, with small European nations such as Luxembourg and Liechtenstein among those left out.

PoliticsRe: June 12: How Jonathan Reduced MKO Abiola To Local Champion – Tony Momoh by Olumyco(m):
See what many of us here dont understand here is that changing a university name is not easy. University of Lagos is one of the first generation universities in the country... so someone cannot just change it like that around this time. If the name is to be changed, they should have changed it in the 80s... University of Ife was changed in 1987... and looking at that, one can see that it is better at that time than changing it around this time. The more a school ages, the more the number of achievements, number of Alumni, number of programmes and so on. So changing a University name is best when the University is still young or at intermediate level and not when it has fully grown to be big with international reputation. Like ABU, the University was renamed at the start off of the school, a year after the legislative passed the law that established the school. AAUA was not long before it was renamed. We should understand that renaming a University comes with a high cost. The school gate, documents of the school, website and so on unlike other monuments. We should also understand that a university is like a business. The brand name too counts. A school who has made name with a particular name is not suitable for change like that. And I think there was something I learnt that they want to stop the changing of a university name to people's name in the country. Well I dont know of it is true. But the fact is that any school more than 30 years or who is among top 5 in a country should be spared of renaming.
Naming a monument or any big thing within a University is better like naming Lecture Theatres, Libraries, Hostels etc., is better.

So in all the rejection of the renaming of Unilag by the Alumni and the Students was in good order. They understood what it would cost them. Thesame way that of Unilag was rejected is thesame way that of UI, UNN would be rejected. Even Uniben, Unilorin, Unijos and co too would be rejected. These universities are too old to be renamed. Renaming should have happened to these universities earlier than now when the cost would be lower somehow if at all they want to change their names.

So that's it.

Thanks.
PoliticsRe: Is akwa ibom becoming the new capital of Niger delta region? by Olumyco(m): 9:44am On Jun 08, 2019
This thread is more like a good news for all of us that Nigeria is not just about Lagos and Abuja. Other places too in the Country are now developing and competing. This is good and that is what we want. If we look at it very well Akwa Ibom has tried in terms of infrastructure. There are some infrastructure in Uyo that PH does not have. Uyo is really developing and its high time we acknowledged that. There is even an underground pipe jacking drainage system there which is the first in Africa built by Akpabio. The e-library at Uyo is the first in West Africa. It will interest us to know that a whole President of Ghana, Mahama came to Nigeria some years back. He didn't visit Abuja or Lagos but Akwa Ibom. He was received at the Airport in Uyo. He saw wonders in Uyo and went back to invest into infrastructure development in Ghana. He saw the roads, flyovers, e-library and co and was amazed. So what are we saying? Nigeria is really developing. Guys let's be wise, every Oil producing state capital should look like Uyo and PH. Leaders matters. Even if Akpabio and Udom stole, they still tried to develop the state. Look at Abia, Delta and co... nothing to write home about.

To me we now have four cities in Nigeria that can compete now. The ranking is below

1. Abuja

2. Lagos

3. Port Harcourt

4. Uyo

These are the four best cities in Nigeria today. We are waiting for Enugu, Calabar, Owerri, Warri, Ibadan and Kaduna to join them sooner. Every Governor should work and make his capital city great. Akure till today has no flyover. Ado-Ekiti now has one. May God help our leaders.

It is not who has the largest economy, the 2nd largest economy and all the crap. It is the quality of life of the people. Focus on that and stop this largest economy and all the nonsense. What is the point in having the largest economy when all your people are POOR? Are Nigerians that dumb? This is the bottom line. The wealth of a country is not measured, by the number of private jets, limousines, or even how large parties you throw. It is about the quality of life of the people. I don’t think most Nigerians know that. What a shame
Sir there are many factors that give quality of life and infrastructure plus economy are the greatest of them.

When a country has good economy and good infrastructure quality of life will increase.

You should know by now that Nigeria is investing heavily on infrastructure to increase quality of life and to grow the economy.

Sir with respect you have to to research on the consequence of GDP to the wealth of a nation. GDP is the amount of goods and services produced in the country within a year. Economy is very important in a country. Infact its the number one indicator of how a country is faring. Everything revolves around it including infrastructure. See a country can still survive with collapse infrastructure but not economy. If you want to stop the existence of a country just collapse their economy. Go and read about Zimbabwe and Venezuela... you will understand the significance of economy.

See we Africans needs to read and study economics. The GDP of a country is very important. Nigeria having the largest GDP in Africa means a lot.

See Economy is like the Sun and other things like Infrastructure, Industry, Education, Security and Social Services are the planets that revolve round it. Any slight change in any of these factors either grows the economy at the centre or shrinks it. So by now you should understand the importance of GDP.

Ghana GDP is trying but more effort is still needed to grow the GDP. Seven indigenous banks have collapsed in Ghana within the last two yrs. It will interest you to know that this is happening because of economy issue. Nigeria Banks in Ghana are like 8 or so and they are doing well... what does that suggest to you.

Nigeria will get it sooner in terms of infrastructure that will improve quality of life.

chrisagyei:
listen here, the poverty rate of Ghana is 23% which is among top five lowest in Africa compared with Nigeria's 65% with extreme poverty being 91 million Nigerians making it the poverty capital.Thirdly,Nigeria's 2% growth rate is lower than your population growth rate of 3% which is abnormal.More children, less growth. In the West, their population growth is less than 0.5% thus if their economy grows 2%,it's positive .Ghana's national budget 2019 was 15 billion dollars for a country of 29 million compared to Nigeria's 28 billion dollars for 200 million people.Lagos State budget is 2 billion dollars for 24 million people whilst Ghana education allocation is 3 billion dollars.South Africa budget was 150 billion for 50 million people and that's what we call progress.Egypt has a population of 100 million and a GDP of 270 billion compared to Nigeria's 275 billion dollars for 200 million people.Nigeria electricity generation is 4,000 megawatts which dropped to 2,900 megawatts last month for 200 million people compared to Ghana's 2,100 megawatts for 29 million people.Don't let me continue
Since we are dealing with figures here, you have to know that Nigeria GDP has never fallen below $300 billion dollars since 2014. And even now Nigeria is over $400 billion.

About the issue of budget you raise your comparison is not striking enough... it lacks some substances. A country's budget is a plan for how much would be earned and spent and this give rise to things like budget balance, budget surplus and budget deficit.
In planning a budget there are factors put into consideration. Factors like Nominal GDP of the country, inflation rate, exchange rate etc. And mind you any country can bring any figure on board as long they can finance it. Many countries borrow to finance their budgets.
Now look at Nigeria, our GDP plus other factors dictated our budget. And that is why our budget deficit is low. Its 1.3% of our GDP. The South Africa own is 4.5% of her GDP. So you see the difference. It means their deficit is higher than our own. They will have to borrow more than us in relation to their GDP which is smaller than our own to finance their budget.

Now budget is not directly a function of population. You are making it look like since Nigeria population is big our budget should be big. Well it does not work that way. Big budget means big economy or rather big GDP, large infrastructure, high debt profile and so on and not directly big population... though population is a factor when it comes to government workers which are placed under recurrent expenditure. So your comparison is not striking enough to pass a message.
And also in terms of living cost, Nigeria is one of the cheapest country to live in and looking at South Africa their budget is higher not just because they are richer but because of living cost, infrastructure, debt profile and so on.

Nigeria's budget for this year will clear over 70% of her debt. And other things are well taken care off. What we need is high GDP growth... like hitting $900 billion GDP

Ghana budget too has a deficit and they will be borrowing too. Ghana deficit is 4.2% of her GDP this yr.
Which is higher than that of Nigeria.
Economy in terms of GDP is a big factor. There are projects many country cannot embark on because they are not financially buoyant to do it unless they borrow.

Ghana is the first West African country that has had the longest contact with the English language and reported that the earliest recorded contact between the people of the Gold Coast and the British was in the early 16th century.Have you heard a Ghanaian speak before such as our current president?
Sir your president don't speak Ghanian English 100%. There are some of his pronunciations that is not like the way Ghanians pronounce things. He has some education abroad and that influenced him a bit. So his own is more of a mixture.

Ghana speaks correct English..
Nigeria is one of the worst English speaking country when it comes to pronouncing words correctly
Well that's what they claim but in actual fact they speak deviated/distorted RP (Received Pronunciation). RP is what is termed Queens English and today even in England no body speaks it again. Most people British, American etc speak SP (Spelling Pronunciation). Their films, News and co confirms this. The Ghanians needs to start paying attention to films to get how the whites pronounces things.

Ghanians English problem is rooted in their wanting to speak RP and that is where they got it wrong those vowel characters confused them and they ended up carving out their own way of pronouncing things. So their RP is deviated and distorted.

Calling Numbers Numbes instead of Numbas is wrong

There are many words ending in er Ghanians pronounce as e instead of a

Calling action actshin instead of actshon

In the research I did they made it clear that vowel E and A rules their english.

They call pillars pillers instead of pillars

Their way of speaking english made me to carefully observe how the whites speaks in films and I discovered that they are wrong. The whites dont pronounce things the way Ghanians pronounce things.

Nigerians pronounce English word better than them

The white don't call work werk... it is work

But in all Ghanians performs better in terms of absence of local tongue. They speak better than Kenyans and those east African countries in terms of absence of local tongue interference.

Femi Otedola was there in forbes list before. He dropped out. He has not made the billionaire list for more than 2 or 3 years now. See its not easy to remain at the top. Even Rabiu just entered in this 2019.
So that's it.

And for our information, Nigeria has four billionaires on the 2019 forbes list while South Africa has 5 billionaires. In 2018 list they produced 8 billionaires but this year it has dropped to 5. Now if you analyse the 5 billionaires you will see that 4 of them are whites. Only Patrice is a black man. This tells us that Nigeria really tried to produce 4 black billionaires. We need to appreciate who we are as Nigerians. We are indeed blessed. We can be successful on our soil. We will get there one day.
