Lagos is more populated than Kano because Lagos has a much larger metropolitan population, higher urban density, and a bigger continuous urban area. Kano is highly populated, but Lagos remains Nigeria’s most populous city.

Lagos has a huge population partly because of its coastal location, major seaports, commercial activity, industries and its position as Nigeria's largest economic hub
