Spyder, 90 days = 3 months is a tall order! |
spyder880:Good that you mentioned "but" and "professional", I have read some of your analysis about concrete and precast parapet and pillars sizes relative to load bearing. I am considering parapet to eliminate fascia board rot and aluminium defect that could occur over few years. Again, I once mentioned insulated/sandwich aluminium roofing sheet here, has it made in road into Nigeria already? (see photo), I think this an ideal roofing sheet for Nigeria sun and it light in weight too, we used this for one of our warehouse recently, I notice inside is warmer in the winter and cooler in summer.
|
spyder880:Spyder, How far does this parapet protruded from the building wall or carriage beam? It looks heavy looking at it underneath or it's just photo illusion? I see mostly heavy and large parapets on our buildings, are lightweight and portable parapet of about 40 - 50cm protrusion not achievable in casting? |
Spyder, What type of light weight parapet casting are available and is suitable for 6 or 5 inches pillars, what should be the safe projection/distance from the wall for stability? Ground floor already has 6 inches pillars, building has a total of 34 pillars and original plan doesn't include parapet. Thanks. |
spyder880:It looks good, the height of the kingpost really suit the size of the building and roof shape neatly put together, it makes every view looks normal and nothing appears exaggerated...these qualities are very rare in Nigeria's buildings designs and most time house owners copy the opposite .....I look forward to the day Nigeria will make use of the space in the roofing for rooms and storage using heat insulators. |
In few years we could be making houses with 3D-printer, and houses will be rolling out of the factories. Just can't ignore the power of human brain.

otis3:I think the man is frustrated with his own life, he has be running ape riot on this thread. |
BornRicch:It's obvious you are living a frustrated life and only apes run ape riot like you do on this thread. ![]() |
xandy84:Exactly, that's duty of a bank for sure to protect its customers and protect its product. Also it's the duty of the Nigeria foreign affair/immigration to make Nigerians aware to avoid inconveniences hence that notice, I have made payment with credit card there without hassle, when my wife used hers they requested for ID to make sure she is really the one making the payment and not some fraudulent person using her card. |
BornRicch:Wow, who cares about where you are? Your mentality and reasoning capacity is too low to engage in intellectual discussion. |
BornRicch:It's not assumption, I grew up and schooled in Nigeria and I know where the knowledge there ends, I don't believe in let do with what Nigeria have when we can do more and go higher, it's only people like you will believe EFCC boss is being questioned when DSS already released a statement denying what you come here to defend, please I am not lazy and slow in thinking. |
xandy84:OP is not raising false alarm, countries where credit card is rampant are most monitored and transactions are subject to approval, for example, European banks intentionally blocked the use of their credit card ( especially Visa and Mastercard given out in Europe) in the United States, if you traveling to the USA you must apply to your bank to temporarily open your credit card for usage while you are there. That's no brainer, Nigeria is also on the list of monitored countries. |
OP is raising false alarm. I used my CC to pay UK Visa fee and it was rejected. I had to call my bank to authorize the payment before It was allow to go thru. Most bank will reject international transaction if said account does not do international transaction foro security purposes. tot:Exactly! |
davidtemi:If the names on the application/passport matches with the name on the credit card it's not a problem, I have paid several times |
BornRicch:Living in Nigeria and missing out on real life exposure and being able to see and partake in what real human development and ability a human being can attain is worth traveling outside of Nigeria shore. |
It's just a warning notice to avoid inconvenience, you can pay with your credit card that matches with the names on the passport, you can pay for someone too but have to present/attached an I'd card or driver's licence to verify the owner is aware of the payment. |
Well done Spyder, Finally this project is now in roofing stage,....what is the height of the kingpost? The black aluminium longspan looks good on the roof, other colours are more popular on roofs but with black it has a good fitting as stonecoated in my opinion, and the colour is also suitable to camouflage dirt with time. I hope the colour coating could hold and withstand wear, tear and peel off for a long period of time and what's actually the measurement of a full longspan? Bravo! |
How suitable is 5 inches solid block for fencing work? |
Falling Oil Prices: Jonathan Calls For Diversification Of Nigeria’s Economy, Says Agric Sector Remains Vital. President Goodluck Jonathan says the time is ripe for the diversification of Nigeria’s economy from crude oil, as global oil prices continue to decline. He added that the agriculture sector remains vital for the economy of Nigeria. President Goodluck Jonathan says the time is ripe for the diversification of Nigeria’s economy from crude oil, as global oil prices continue to decline. He added that the agriculture sector remains vital for the economy of Nigeria. Our massive food production efforts, which led to the production of 21 million metric tons of food in the past three years, has created a buffer and mitigated the impact of the devaluation on food prices. “Our food import bill declined from 1.1 trillion naira in 2009 to 624 billion naira by December of 2013, and continues to decline. Our electronic wallet system, which allows us to reach farmers with subsidized seeds and fertilizers via mobile phones, has become the backbone of a more modern agricultural sector. Over 14 million farmers have received their subsidized farm inputs through the e-wallet system. “Over 5.6. billion dollars of new private sector investments have also come into the agricultural sector, which clearly shows that local and foreign businesses see Nigeria’s agricultural sector as very viable for investments. Agriculture has become the new wealth sector for Nigeria,” Jonathan said. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.informationng.com/2014/12/falling-oil-prices-jonathan-calls-for-diversification-of-nigerias-economy-says-agric-sector-remains-vital.html/amp 7 Years later dumb Oboki still believed in dwindling oil value when other countries are being creative in revenue generation. |
Dennis3D:Woods seem cheaper in Calabar probably. |
Dennis3D:Soft wood, price of 1x12x12 in sawmills ranges between ₦1900 - ₦2200 depending on demand. |
flekky07:Delta precisely, I bought directly from the sawmill, I got ₦1500 from a woodshop tho but decided to get those to be reused after decking. You don't have to be scare, do a good market survey and you can find something cheaper. |
Dennis3D:1x12x12 is ₦2200 when I bought in May this year. |
ArcToyin:On a 24.5 by 11.3m I spent over 700k on woods on decking, so what should I say? |
I am eager to know too. |
twinskenny:I am glad it finally looks good after taking a lot from my pocket. |
Aventures:I was a bit worried when I saw the washed upper side, but after it dried and more rain and wind washed the sand off it came out fine....the picture below was how it looks after 8 days the concrete was set.
|
rotecch77:Public electricity system will definitely be a problem, in Nigeria case the rooftop solar water heater is the best solution but then one have to make provision for mounting stands on the roof, it's a very common sight on Turkish rooftops, some dealers are into it in Lagos I read.
|
This electric water heater has been in use in Europe about 2013, it's portable, flat and very efficient, I wonder if it's already available in Nigeria?
|
mufutau55:Most air-conditioning system are heater these days just like in modern auto's, They regulate automatically by adapting to set temperature, gas heating system are gradually being fased out. |
valencia2012:They don't use cladding tile in Europe ( as I assume from the house model and environment), wall in Europe consist of inner(block) and outer (bricks)part, the thickness depends on the environment and weather conditions (Germans, Scandinavian and Eastern Europe have thicker walls than houses in western Europe), some walls are insulated. Tiles are mostly used indoors and veranda. |
