valencia2012:That's a thick smooth brick I think, it usually place on the outside while inside has the normal hollow building blocks. |
Following.........I am sure you will do a nice job like you did in Osapa London in Lekki and Port Harcourt |
How is plastering work usually/generally priced? |
olaboy1:Exactly, most workmen/artisans in Nigeria don't have meticulous attitude, They don't use their common senses to schild things they can mess up off before embarking on their work, I have seen incidents where they mess window frames with cement, new tiles with paint etc. They are just after what they would earn for the day and mess what cost thousands or millions up without remorse. In picture below you can see the window is fully cover to protect it from damages or stains, it's a fundamental attitude of quality and services.

The decking was being done when it rained last night, and the washed sand spots appears, my engineer is assuring me it has no implications on the work nor the decking structure but I am a bit sceptical. Is that true?

I discovered this thread a bit late |
MrBrownJay1:I think so if they are in an EU country, her stay permit is dependant on whom invited her to join him, if she is jobless well they may want her out quicker because the government wouldn't want to take her responsibilities. |
This is very simple, if the OP lives in an EU country the wife legal stay permit is dependant on that of OP, the day the OP ask for separation/divorce, her stay permit is in danger, and if she is jobless the possibility of asking her to leave the country is very high and no court will force the OP to pay child support above his limit, the woman is ignorant of understand of her actions. OP should get her violent behaviour on video and see a family lawyer for legal advice. |
michlins:Now we are talking, do you know that workman is supposed to know that sparkling neat job is what primarily requested of him? Probably I am trying to apply the mentality of where I am that you don't need to issue threats or exert pressure to get the best out of them or to deliver their best outcome |
michlins:I know Spyder has been doing a good jobs, probably he has cultivated proper work delivering in his workers. Workmen habit toward standard is what we are talking about.....the practical/apprenticeship training standard is so bad that Nigerian (Africans)workmen thinks dirt, stain, and filthy work surrounding is normal. Yeah! this is Nigeria but my kind of background in the same Nigeria does not tolerate such work habit. |
michlins:Wow! Delivering a job without messing other things up is a standard, If I am going to pay for not messing mine new door with cement I would NOT want to hire that person at all, this kind of mentality is the reason most Nigerians struggle outside their shore. Try it where the opposite is the norms I bet you won't be returning to your work post the next day. |
spyder880:I had thought about this a lot, again I notice majority of Nigerian builders/workmen are blind to neatness, you rarely find a Nigerian workmen that clean/clear his working environment on daily basis, they don't identify applying measures like taping off or covering items that could get stain. I think our lack of maintenance culture and disregard for properness is affecting our general behaviour toward things too hence Africans struggle where the opposite is the norms. |
Timtol:4 coaches after lintel could look nice depending on the design I guess, tall windows and a nice porch could give it an excellent look.....U did a good job on this project. |
Timtol:I noticed that pattern for the first time in Abuja and it seems commonly used there. |
The work is neat, what is the thickness of the decking slab? |
spyder880:I like the fact the ceiling is high, I did similar thing too, I had 3 level of block on the lintel before casting the decking slab, initially I thought it would be too high, that decision was due to mine countless accidental encounter with rotating ceiling fans ceilings when stretching . |
How many square meters are in one full length of aluminium roofing sheet? |
spyder880:Spyder, Are the roofing wood specially treated against wood insect or you used a special insect resistence woods? |
How many square meters are in one full length of aluminium roofing sheet? |
spyder880:I think I read somewhere you spoke favourably about Niger pvc electrical piping for your decking slab (correct me if I am wrong), as someone with experience with it what can u advice about it qualities and is it true the 20mm of 45 pieces per bundle could cost up to ₦16000? |
rotecch77:Really? ₦7000 seem ideal than ₦16000 I got for Niger pipe of 45 pieces per bundle, and I am still wondering what category the Niger pipe belongs to and what does one has to consider when deciding pipes for slab? |
twinskenny:Really? What's the difference between that of ₦5200 and that of ₦16250 per bundle of 45 pieces (Niger brand)? |
rotecch77:I get u now! How much per bundle for the electrical conduit pipe you used? Is it Niger pipe or other brand? |
Hello house, What is the current price per bundle of 20mm pipe for decking electrical work (Niger pipe preferably if know the prices)? |
Chekitaut:How many tonnes is that trailer tipper u have in your post? |
rotecch77:For the decking slab alone you meant or from foundation to this stage? |
spyder880:I see, it's so camouflage that you won't notice it. I have to pay extra attention from now on lol....with airconditions in the house I still find ceiling fans more handy because it spread the air flow in every direction constantly unlike standing fans. And another important question,....Are Nigeria's house owners aware of different sort of paints for different conditions, for example a satin based paint are more better for kitchen and bathroom due to its resistance to moisture and washability, and acrylic latex paints are more resistance to blistering, flaking, high moisture content and humidity for outside walls, when I see houses with these problems I kinda wonder if the house owners were ever adviced about different possibilities to preserve their building with right paints according the nature of the environment the house is situated, and are they really expensive? |
Spyder, I have been observing your deckings technics I don't find any ceiling fan hooks in the slab, is that no more relevant or there are other ways of installing hooks nowadays or ceiling fans are now outdated? |
jlinkd78:They can keep records of events and incidents for centuries, so busting every falsehood and pretentious moves from any government is easy. |
THE LIVING DEAD Nigerian president appoints dead person to top government job – the SIXTH time he’s made the same mistake NIGERIA'S president was left red-faced after he appointed a man who died more than two months ago to a top job. Muhammadu Buhari, 77, has previously appointed at least five other dead people to the boards of government agencies - meaning its the sixth time he's made such an error. President Buhari - who is nicknamed "Baba Go Slow" - appointed Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru to Nigerian agency the Federal Character Commission. He appointed the man despite his funeral taking place in February. Applications for the job were reopened when journalists pointed out the error, with Mr Okwuru dying aged 59. The president's aides have hit back and claimed the embarrassing mistake was actually down to the long screening process for the role. It comes after he had previously handed out at least five top jobs to the dead back in 2017. Among those promoted was Francis Okpozo, who had been dead for almost a year when he was named chairman of the board of the Nigerian Press Council. President Buhari earned his nickname due to that fact he took six months to name his first cabinet in 2015. And back in 2018 he was forced to deny rumours of his own death and that he had been replaced with a body double named Jubril. He was previously Nigeria's military ruler for two years between 1983 an 1985 after leading a coup, and has blamed democracy for slowing him down. Previously, the president said: "It’s not Baba that is slow but it is the system, so I am going by this system and I hope we will make it." The late Mr Okwuru's name was part of a list of 37 new appointees which was read aloud to the senate. President Buhari's media aide Lauretta Onochie defended the move - saying he wasn't dead when the recruitment process started. She said: "He even came to update his CV in readiness for the appointment after the senate screening. "When he sadly passed away while waiting for the screening by the senate, that information was not communicated." Friends of the deceased politician slammed the government for the mistake. Dr Chike Onwe said: "Please, in God’s name, leave us alone to mourn our dead. Keep your belated appointment." Kitzito Nwankwo added: “We all waited for it, and it came only when you had gone, deepening the hole in our hearts, reminding us the vacuum your departure created." President Buhari was first elected in 2015, and was re-elected last year in a landslide by more than 3million votes. He came under critcism back in September, 2016, after he was found to have copied Barack Obama's inauguration speech. The leader later blamed "overzealous staff" - and his team were given anti-plagiarism software to make sure it didn't happen again. President Buhari also denied his own death in December, 2018, amid claims he had been replaced by a Sudanese man named Jubril. Addressing the nation he said "it is the real me I assure you" and assured he was not a "clone" after he came back from a number of health problems. Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man was arrested in Nigeria for "insulting" President Buhari. In a statement, cops said: "Any person found taking undue advantage of the social media to insult others will face the wrath of the law." https://www.the-sun.com/news/766733/nigeria-president-dead-man-sixth-time/ |
