I am presently showing details on polystyrene parapet how is installed on a building which will have a roof beam. It is installed before the roof beam is casted.
Also soon I will try to show details of how polystyrene parapet is installed on building that doesn't have roof beams.

My problem with polystyrene or what we locally refer to as floater are insects, rats or rodents attacks.....they would so damage and make it so ugly that you would regret your decision......I have seen it regularly.

It was said the land is dry and someone said 7m from foundation to decking, i was happy to start but until i got in then it was seen that the land is waterlogged and that was the game changer , escalated from budget of 7m to 12.2m to decking.

The cost of using stainless or well designed iron or even wrought iron might double this balustrade cost, or even triple it, and some tenants might damage them in two years. So we go for what best suits the type of property we are building. Thanks.

When I read the guy comment I remade the song 'Money on my mind' to 'Tenants on my mind' ......really, some tenant are not to be trusted with worst talkless of the best of things. They believes the right to damage the property are included in the rentage.

We as property owners have to be involved.

Being fully involved ensures all requirements are followed.....I also noticed some property owner/builders skip some important safety measures and procedures to cut cost......when I requested beams for my decking I was also told mostly 2 storey buildings required that....I was like what the fvck......why are the pros on here doing it if it's not a normal building or safety standard......I later get to understand that in my town most people/builders goes for cheap decking without beams linking the columns.......among all only my iron bender/welder was enthusiastic I choose safety above cost..... probably if I was not involved I would have gotten something else too.

What I would do in the mean time is just peruse the threads of pro builders and see what they do on their builds. Pay particular attention to Abdulwastecx because he, or his partner Padosci, is one of the college trained ones.

Exactly.... that's what I did too as a novice in building knowing fully well builders/owners in my region goes for the cheapest form without chaining....I was told chaining was ONLY necessary from 2 story building..... that was always the end of the discussion anyway trying to tell me safety is not necessary lol.

Everything depends on budget and choice of materials, the thickness is about 0.50mm but when coated it become more thicker and rugged

It's almost looks like what we use here but ours is more thicker and heavier tho (pic1).....the stone coating would increase the weight definitely and I wonder how long the woods could hold after some years......here roofing woods could be guaranteed for 30 years or more.....I am hoping the insulated/sandwiched aluminium longspan (pic2&3) made it into Nigeria's market soon......I have seen and felt how heatproof and rugged that thing is and that will solve the heat problem peculiar with Nigeria roof.

I am not religious though but I wouldn't empty my God's provision on stone coated hype for now when other alternative are available.......I haven't seen it from close nor felt in with my hands.......from pictures and diagrams I have seen... with the stone coating it's almost as thin as aluminium longspan in my opinion.

Hello all. Seeing the debate about interlocking and stamped concrete, I'm curious why most people don't go for landscaping and concrete for the walkway only. What are the advantages of common practices against landscaping and concrete? Water sprinklers are very cheap and DIY friendly. Looks like a no brainer to me but I'm sure I'm missing something.

Examples in the pictures below.

Very nice innovation. I used the same for my ongoing project.

It’s very cheap, fast and easy. It eliminates unnecessary wastage.

Such steel mould is not very popular in Nigeria yet I think..... it's a better alternative to woods.....and seem a good opportunity for rental businesses.

We have 3 methods

Pre cast. ( cheapest type but not as strong as others)

Cast in-situ.( it’s the most strongest but most costly than the rest)

Semi cast in-situ( this is very reliable and very strong also a bit cheaper than cast in-situ) this doesn’t need wood work as such, there is a already made steel formwork to do this, this system make it cheaper than the cast in-situ ( 30pec lesser).

3. Either can park at least 4 cars in a compound.

I encountered something similar with mine, one side was scaled down to 2 bedroom because I wanted enough space at both end of the rectangle.
