22 Danger Signs To Watch Out For When Using A Gas Cylinder

There have been many cases of gas cylinder explosions and when this happens, lives are lost and properties worth millions are destroyed.

However, there are so many danger signs we need to look out for while using a Gas cylinder.

Some of these factors are:

1. Cooking gas cylinders must not exceed five years: most people using gas cylinders hardly remember when it was bought. It is important to keep track of the days and replace them as soon as possible.

2. Do not buy used Gas cylinders.

3. Watch out for the expiry dates: The steps to check the expiry date are very simple and basic. The expiry of LPG cylinder can be found on one of the metal strips that connect the body of the cylinder to top ring (handle). It is mentioned on the inner side of the strip. The strip has any of the alphabets from A to D painted on it along with a number. Decoding the expiry date is simple. The alphabet represents the month it expires while the number indicates the year. A year is divided into four quarters :

A – January to March

B – April to June

C – July to September

D – October to December

For example, your cylinder has ‘A 18 painted on the metal strip. The alphabet A represents month March and 18 indicates the year 2018.

4 Use gas cylinders in a vertical position, unless specifically designed to be used otherwise

5. Securely restrain cylinders to prevent them from falling over

6. Always double check that the cylinder/gas is the right one for the intended use.

7. Before connecting a gas cylinder to equipment or pipe-work make sure that the regulator and pipe-work are suitable for the type of gas and pressure being used.
8. When required, wear suitable safety shoes and other personal protective equipment when handling gas cylinders.

9. Do not use gas cylinders for any other purpose than the transport and storage of gas.

10. Do not drop, roll or drag gas cylinders.

11. Close the cylinder valve and replace dust caps, where provided when a gas cylinder is not in use.

12. Where appropriate, fit cylinders with residual pressure valves (non-return valves) to reduce the risk of backflow of water or other materials into the cylinder during use that might corrode it (e.g. beer forced into an empty gas cylinder during cylinder change-over).

13. Ensure the valve is protected by a valve cap or collar, or that the valve has been designed to withstand impact if the cylinder is dropped.

14. Store gas cylinders in a dry, safe place on a flat surface in the open air. If this is not reasonably practicable, store in an adequately ventilated building or part of a building specifically reserved for this purpose.

15. Cylinders containing flammable gas should not be stored in part of a building used for other purposes.

16. Protect gas cylinders from external heat sources that may adversely affect their mechanical integrity.

17. Gas cylinders should be stored away from sources of ignition and other flammable materials.

18. Avoid storing gas cylinders so that they stand or lie in water.

19. Ensure the valve is kept shut on empty cylinders to prevent contaminants from getting in.

20. Store gas cylinders securely when they are not in use. They should be properly restrained unless designed to be free-standing.

21. Gas cylinders must be clearly marked to show what they contain and the hazards associated with their contents.

22. Store cylinders where they are not vulnerable to hazards caused by impact, e.g. from vehicles such as fork-lift trucks.

There is nothing that is as beneficial to our health than the various gifts of nature. Unarguably, palm wine is one of them.
Palm wine is a sweet, tasty drink that is gotten from the sap of various species of palm tree such as the Palmyra, date palms, and coconut palms.

Although this might sound unbelievable, it is true. Palm wine contains riboflavin, which is also known as Vitamin B2.

Riboflavin is an antioxidant which helps in the fight against some cancer-causing agents called free radicals. A moderate consumption of fresh palm wine is enough to bless the body with the right amount of Vitamin B2.

2. Palm wine increases eyesight

Palm wine contains the antioxidant, Vitamin C. And Vitamin C, on the other hand, helps in maintaining good eye health.

Additionally, it contains Vitamin B1 (thiamine), which also helps in improving our vision.

This is why it is still argued till date that our grandparents in the village have better eyesight than us because palm wine is their beverage.

3. Palm wine helps in maintaining a healthier skin, hair, and nail

Palm wine is a proud carrier of Iron and vitamin B complex. And iron and vitamin B are needed for a healthy skin, hair, and nail.

The study was conducted by Lindberg and Ezra in 2008.

Additionally, the potassium which is contained in palm wine has been proven to improve heart health and bring down hypertension.

However, an excess consumption of palm wine has adverse effects like destroying the liver.

5. It promotes lactation

In countries like Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria, palm wine to help a lactating mother when she has limited breast milk production. It is very effective, and it works like magic.

Precaution

Preservatives and sweeteners distort the originality of the wine; therefore making it not good for our health.

Also, like every other thing that is excessively consumed, palm wine can have its negative effect as well.

Here are some negative effect of excessive consumption of palm wine

In conclusion, try as much as you can to avoid fermented palm wine in excess, because it is detrimental the health. A fermented palm wine is like spoilt fruits. Only in rare cases can they be said to be useful.

If we must consume palm wine for its sweetness and various health benefits, then we should concern ourselves with fresh palm wine.

FamilyFive Natural Remedies For Hormonal Imbalance by Omaricha002(op): 8:22am On Jul 26, 2019
FIVE NATURAL REMEDIES FOR HORMONAL IMBALANCE

Whether it is infertility, depression, weight gain, or a variety of other health challenges, the root of most conditions is hormone imbalance. Hormones enable different parts of the body to communicate and control most major bodily functions.

The body produces hormones to serve as the body’s messengers to assist in the function and regulation of the body’s digestion, regulating your metabolism and whether or not you have mood swings; they are also in charge of regulating breathing, sleep, movement, reproduction, stress, growth etc. There are many hormones at work in the body, but let’s focus on the female sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. To better understand hormone imbalance, let’s first look at the general function of these sex hormones.

Estrogen stimulates the growth of tissue, such as development of breast and reproductive organs, and ensures their function. In the brain, it boosts the synthesis and function of neurotransmitters that affect sleep, mood, memory, libido, and cognitive factors such as learning and attention span.

Progesterone is made primarily by the ovaries. The adrenal glands, peripheral nerves, and brain cells produce lesser amounts. Progesterone ensures the development and function of the breasts and female reproductive tract. In the brain, progesterone binds to certain receptors to exert a calming, sedating effect. It improves sleep and protects against seizures.

Testosterone is manufactured in women by the ovaries and adrenal glands and enhances libido and sexual response. It strengthens ligaments, builds muscle and bone, assists brain function, and is associated with assertive behavior and a sense of well-being. Though testosterone does play a role in the balance of sex hormones, the main culprits when it comes to imbalance are progesterone and estrogen.

There are many causes of hormone imbalance, but at the base of the problem is something called Estrogen Dominance. Estrogen and progesterone are needed in a delicate balance to perform their functions efficiently, so, when estrogen levels become too high, the balance of progesterone is also disrupted, and that’s when estrogen dominance results.

Estrogen dominance is becoming an increasingly common health condition. This is because we’re constantly being exposed to estrogen through the foods we eat, and in our environment. The symptoms of hormone imbalance are numerous and so varied, but some common symptoms include night sweats, irregular periods, hot flashes, unexplained weight gain, thinning hair, mood swings, and painful intercourse etc. Here are five natural ways that can help hormone balance:

1.Nutrition: Always opt for organic, grass-fed animal products. Also include foods such as dark leafy vegetables to help detoxify the liver. Your liver is responsible for helping to remove all of the excess estrogen from your body therefore, including liver supportive foods will help liver function.

2.Sleep: Poor sleep is one reason for hormone imbalance and sufferers must improve sleep by taking these steps:
Aim to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.
Use your bed for sleep and romance only – not reading or television.
Avoid caffeine – it may seem to help you stay awake but actually makes your sleep worse.
Avoid alcohol – it helps you get to sleep but causes interruptions in sleep and causes poor-quality sleep
Eat no later than three hours before bed; eating a heavy meal prior to bed will lead to a bad night’s sleep

3. Exercise: Now, this can be a tricky one. Most people shy away from any kind of workouts because they feel that it disrupts hormone balance. The trick is not to overdo it. Keep it short and sweet. Shorter strength training exercises over longer, endurance type exercise for the best hormone balance.

4.Acupuncture: is a great way to bring the female sex hormones back into balance. Modern research has found acupuncture can improve ovarian function, adjust thyroid gland function, balance the estrogen and progesterone, promote ovulation, increase the blood flow in the uterus to improve the chance of conception. It can also relieve stress to ensure a better ovulation and conception

5.Stress Management: Stress is a factor when it comes to hormone imbalance. In every stressful situation, the body releases stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline. With Chronic Stress, the body will constantly be releasing these hormones, which may create an imbalance with the rest of your hormones over time. Activities such as Yoga and Meditation are often recommended as a stress reliever which, in turn, helps to balance the body’s hormones.Incorporating these natural methods into our lifestyle would effectively manage hormone balance and reduce the risk of several health conditions.
