WE CAN ONLY COME OUT OF THIS LEADERSHIP PROBLEM IF NIGERIA IS RESTRUCTURED into a true federal state with powers devolve to the state or region.

Let each region or state controls its own resource and use it to develop its own people.

States or region can just pay taxes from the resources they control.

Enough of this fraudulent unity or "ABUJA THING" which the northerners are taking delight in establishing in Nigeria where federal government share money of one region to lazy states.

I think the Zamfara state gold mining news has opened our eyes to the need to implement true federalism in Nigeria.

The union of states or region should be similar to the one operated in the United Kingdom where Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales can choose to break out through referendum if they want to.

NIGERIA can not continue under this fulani arrangement of depending on the Niger delta crude oil money and Lagos state vat money for all our budgetary expenses.

NIGERIA WILL BREAK UP IF THIS FULANI AGENDA is allowed to continue.
I think that Fulani agenda is promoted by PDP the most, and if you're a pdp supporter, you're also guilty of doing same thing you seem to condemn.

Tell pdp to zone their ticket to the East to prove they promote Igbo Agenda also and they aren't anti Igbo.

Fulani this, Fulani that. I bet the Fulanis are the reason we have very useless underperforming governors in our states from North to South, East to West.

Hold your local leaders accountable and stop throwing stones at people far far away. Attitude like this is the reason they sot cozy in their offices, doing absolutely nothing, confident of the fact we wont blame them but others for their own failure.

Leave stories, they don't have to pronounce such a transient policy verbatim. Na who work dey chop.

No one should be deceived, the party ticket belongs to South West, Vice goes North, while S.P. is going East, and SSG Middle Belt (hopefully), with Speaker going SS.

It is a shameful thing to admit, but the truth about this is, the reason why these things are being discussed isn't really for the sake of Federal Character or Fairness whatsoever, it is just so corruption can be rotated. If, irrespective of who occupies these exalted positions, all regions are equally catered for by the occupants in terns of infrastructural development and access to job opportunities, no one would give two bleeps who occupies what position.

It is my sincere hope we come out of this seemingly intractable leadership problems in this country sooner than later.

PoliticsBreaking: Okonjo-iweala Clear In WTO DG Race As South Korea Withdraws Candidate by omenka(op): 9:24am On Nov 24, 2020
South Korea has decided to withdraw its candidate from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) director-general race, Washington Trade Daily is reporting.

Yoo Myung-hee is South Korea’s trade minister and its candidate for the top job at the WTO following the resignation of Roberto Azevedo.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s candidate in the WTO race, had secured the popular vote by a wide margin on October 28 but was not named DG because the US opposed her candidacy.

The two women are the last candidates standing and the eventual winner will set a record as being the first female WTO DG.

However, there are speculations that the US might change its stance following Donald Trump’s failure to get re-elected as president.

After the October 28 meeting, the WTO also said Okonjo-Iweala had the best chance of getting a consensus.

Washington Trade Daily quotes sources as saying South Korea has notified the US of its decision and is expected to make it public “in the coming days”.

“Washington refused to accept the recommendation made by the selection panel chaired by General Council Chair Ambassador David Walker that Ms Okonjo-Iweala is the candidate most likely of the two to attract consensus because she clearly carried the largest support by members in the final round and clearly enjoyed broad support from members from all levels of development and from all geographic regions and has done so throughout the process,” the report read.

“Yoo from Korea failed to receive enough support from members of all levels of development -1e., the developed, developing and least developing countries, as well as geographically in comparison to the “largest” support received by Ms Okonjo-Iweala.”

Politics2023 Presidency: Odds Favour South-east Candidates In APC by omenka(op): 7:03am On Nov 24, 2020
The chances of the South-East producing the president in 2023 has taken an upward swing in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following the defection of Governor David Umahi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the party.

A credible source in the APC told Daily Independent on Monday that Umahi might have taken the decision after receiving assurances from President Muhammadu Buhari that he would do his best to ensure that the South-East produced the presidential flag bearer of the party in 2023.

While Buhari had not made any statement about his preferred successor, our source said the president, who is committed to the unity of the country, wants to prove bookmakers – who had predicted that he would back another northerner as his successor – wrong.

He also said the president’s cold disposition to the South West and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the party, may have necessitated the visit of some South- West APC leaders who are allies of Tinubu to the president last week.

The APC leaders include Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and Dr. Abayomi Finnih.

Even though all attempts to get a clue of what the meeting was all about or the topic of discussion were unsuccessful as the visitors would not talk to State House correspondents, our source said it might not be unconnected with the issue of the 2023 presidency.

“First, let me say this. A lot of PDP stakeholders, including Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, have said Umahi, who is completing his second term as Ebonyi State governor, joined APC because he wants to contest for presidency in 2023 and he believed the PDP will not give him that opportunity.

“Something may have given Umahi the courage to make that bold move. Did he receive assurances from the president that the ticket would be zoned to the South-East?

“Did the president have a special preference for him as the best person to succeed him?

“Why did many South-East leaders in the APC shun Umahi’s defection rally to APC yet many Northern bigwigs were in attendance? Could that be borne out of anger, jealousy or hatred?

“If they have been nursing the ambition and the president favours Umahi, a newcomer from PDP, do you expect them to be happy? There are so many questions and everything will become clearer in the coming days as 2023 is still far.

“Also, if you look at the visit of Tinubu’s allies to Buhari last week where they had a closed-door meeting without Tinubu himself in attendance, shortly after Umahi’s defection, and the fact that Akande, Osoba and even the president have all maintained sealed lips on the purpose of the meeting, then you will know that something serious is happening behind the scene.

“Don’t also forget that Northern elders have thrown their weight behind Igbo presidency, insisting that Nigeria’s 2023 presidency should rotate to the South-East zone.

“They said that their position was borne out of the need for every part of the country to be fairly and equitably treated in the nation’s political affairs.

“I know Buhari very well. He doesn’t talk but he likes keeping his game to his chest.

“In 2015, the Igbo didn’t vote for him but he has warmed his way into their hearts.

“He has always used every opportunity to say he was not an enemy of the South East, especially given his relationship with the late Emeka Ojukwu.”

He said aside from Umahi, the South East APC parades credible politicians who have the capacity to govern Nigeria such as Ken Nnamani, former Senate President; Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment; Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology; Geoffery Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Senator Rochas Okorocha, among others.

“As a man who believes in the unity of the country, he may use the 2023 presidential election to prove those who have said he wants another northerner to succeed him wrong.

“Doing that will greatly reduce the cry of marginalisation and secession threat in the region,” he said.

Also speaking with Daily Independent, Junaid Mohammed, elder statesman and Second Republic federal lawmaker, said the PDP had already committed its presidential ticket to the North.

Junaid, who also said President Buhari lacked the capacity to lead the APC to victory in 2023, said any politician who realises that his ambition cannot be realised in the political party he belongs to should seek an alternative by joining another party or forming a new political party.

He said: “A political party is like a vehicle, a machine; you use it to climb to power.

“If one party does not give you the opportunity to be in power, you can join another party or create another party.

“So, anybody who is not happy with the way things are in the APC, my advice to such a person is to start looking for an alternative. The same thing applies to the PDP.

“But the PDP has committed itself to making the next presidential candidate to come from the North.

“They may be mischievous but the fact of the matter is, given the commercialised nature of politics in Nigeria, whoever is going to confront their candidate is going to have a tough job to do.

“I don’t doubt the capacity of others who may want to test the waters on the part of the APC but whoever it is must be fully prepared, because it is going to be tribal politics without any credible leader.

“Because Buhari has never been seen to be good at anything. He is not the kind of person who will prepare APC as a party and give it the necessary leadership, and making him the arrowhead of a party that will win the next election in 2023.”

PoliticsControversies In Ohanaeze Ndigbo Over Alleged Endorsement Of Obiozor As Next PG by omenka(op): 6:48am On Nov 24, 2020
Fresh controversy has erupted in the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, following the purported endorsement of a former Nigerian Ambassador, Prof. George Obiozor, as its next President-General.

The Nnia Nwodo-led executive in collaboration with Chairman of Ohanaeze Elders Council, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, allegedly hatched the plot in Owerri, Imo State last week.

Following the development, the planned swearing in of members of the electoral committee for the January 2021 elections, nominated recently by the Nwodo-led executive billed for Friday last week was postponed.

This is to enable the Ime-Obi meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to meet on December 6, 2020 to resolve some lingering issues associated with the elections among others.

The Guardian learnt that some persons under the platform of “Imo Stakeholders” had in a meeting convened by Iwuanyanwu in Owerri, endorsed Obiozor as Imo State consensus candidate for the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

In line with the rotational arrangement of the organisation, Imo State should produce the next President-General from January 11, next year, when Enugu State’s tenure now occupied by Nwodo would elapse.

However, Obiozor’s alleged endorsement, which was widely reported in some national dailies, did not go down well with some Igbo groups, describing the move as not only unconstitutional, but also a ploy to foist governors’ control on the socio-cultural body.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) also described the meeting as illegal and unconstitutional, stressing that in the history of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the contest for the office had never been narrowed down to the decision of a few stakeholders.

National President of OYC, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka in a statement cautioned the incumbent leadership against taking the Igbo people for granted, insisting that Obiozor had never attended the group’s meetings or participated in its affairs.

It alleged that the move was being calculated to stop Dr. Joe Nworgu, Prof. Chidi Osuagwu and Goddy Uwazuruike’s candidature and pave way for Prof. Obiozor’s smooth emergence as President-General.

While condemning the controversies generated by the development, a former Vice President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Chris Asoluka, insisted that there were no candidates yet until the Ime-Obi, the highest decision making organ, approved an electoral committee and election guidelines.

When reminded that the Imo Stakeholders had endorsed a candidate, he argued that any group of individuals was free to endorse anyone, stressing: “It is only their preference, which neither binds the electoral committee nor determines the eligibility of contestants for the position.

He cited article 11 (b) of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo constitution, which stipulated that “the President-General shall be elected by the National General Assembly from the state whose turn it is to fill the office, provided there are at least three candidates.”

But the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a statement issued by Nwodo, distanced itself from the plot to foist a candidate on the organisation, insisting that it was the responsibility of the state to nominate persons for the office.
