Politics › Deji Adeyanju Places Order For Mustang SRT To Celebrate His Birthday by omenka(op): 11:56pm On Nov 29, 2020 |
Self acclaimed "human rights activist" has purchased himself a Mustang SRT muscle car after tweeting he would raise 100 million from contributors to dislodge Tinubu, and by extension, APC from Lagos, starting with the forthcoming senatorial election to be held in the state.
He posted the message on his twitter page, berating Lagosians for their unwillingness to effect the desired change of leadership batton in the state. His feelings about the political reality in Lagos was revealed, notwithstanding his "human rights activist" status, which demands that he be apolitical in his approach to people in power, when he wrote:
"N100m is very insignificant in the Lagos By-Election on the 5th of December, but if we all aggressively mobilize people & resources, these guys can be dislodged. But we are not just ready. #EndSars."
Having boasted that he would mobilize "200 Nigerians to donate N500k each", only to purchase a muscle car about a week later, some observers are speculating about the genuineness of the course which he professes to pursue.
The tweets seem to have been taken down, but sharp eyed Nigerians had "done the needful" before they were expunged.

Some Igbos on nairaland are sick beyond redemption honestly. How did Omenka come be the one who decides the fate of Igbos in Nigerian politics? How is it their headache I chose to support Yorubas? Look at them ranting and going berserk because I said what I said, as though my word means IGBOS CAN NEVER GET APC TICKET or IGBOS WILL NEVER BECOME PRESIDENT, or PDP WILL NEVER WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
They've all but abandoned the essense of the thread, literally turning it into a thread about the identity of Omenka.
Na wa o!!
I didn't realise MY OPINION affects the generality of Ndigbo so much. Why the belly ache over what I've said? Why can't you people grow some pride and pretend MY OPINION DOESN'T MATTER (as you guys always claim).
Something is really wrong somewhere. Maybe I should start vending my loyalty to the highest bidders, since it seems it matters to you people so much so you wanna kill yourselves over me not supporting you guys. Maybe if I'm selling it, the biggest bidders would be you guys.
What a pity. |

Until we stop this culture of politicizing security issues, we'd keep revolving in circles.
When he was arrested, he was the head of Ortom's state constituted Livestock Guard, formed upon the passage of Open Grazing Prohibition Law. The state government cried blue murder, saying the FG had the man arrested because he was an impediment to the agenda of rampaging herdsmen.
APC hailed his arrest while PDP kicked. Myetti Allah was happy for the arrest.
Today, he's joining APC and the same PDP that vilified the government for his arrest, claiming his arrest was in furtherance of the government's sinister agenda against Benue state, are saying a terrorist is joining the ranks of APC.
He was PDP yesterday, and was an anti fulani agenda figure to them. APC then said he was a terrorist. Today, he is joining the same APC and he has become a terrorist to pdp. And the revolving door of accusation and counter accusations keep spinning.

Politics › HURIWA Faults Umahi Over Attacks On PDP Leaders by omenka(op): 4:11pm On Nov 28, 2020 |
Famous rights advocacy group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Saturday, chided Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi for allegedly trying to hoodwink the public into believing that the tension brewing up in the state following his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was the handiwork of chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The governor had in a broadcast to the people on Friday after a meeting with security agencies in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi state capital, assured members of the PDP of peaceful coexistence provided they in turn, live peacefully with others.
“I have reported allegations of some Ebonyi people engaging cultists and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, members to start killings and instigating crisis in the state. This is in the name of fighting the governor and the state government,” Umahi said, even as he accused ex-and serving government officials of being behind the recent tension.
“I decided to share this information with security agencies because every governor in the state has been fought by these same people. A stitch in time saves nine; we are bringing this information to the public so that if it is true and starts happening, it will be known that I shared it with security agencies and the public.
“I also tasked security agencies to implement policies on vehicle-tinted glasses, use of siren and police escorts. Many people who use escorts are not entitled to them and these sets of people show power when they get to the communities with their security escorts shooting into the air.
“We do not want this to continue and the security agencies should dispossess them of such security details used to harass innocent citizens,” he added.
However, reacting to the state broadcast, HURIWA cautioned security agencies to resist the temptation of allowing themselves to be used for “political witch hunt” of perceived enemies by anyone regardless of his status in Ebonyi state.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Executive Director of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko urged well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on Governor Umahi to focus on issue of governance, rather than pitching security agencies against the public given the lessons learned in the recent EndSARS protests that swept across the country.
“The police and the military are still battling to clean up the bad image. Let the Ebonyi State governor not be allowed to drag the heads of the nation’s armed forces into partisan politics and thereby scuttling their professional and institutional pride of place.
“Umahi cannot be the judge and prosecutor in his own case. He can’t be allowed to use what he even admitted to being fake news to accuse innocent Nigerians of sponsoring armed cultists to destabilize peace in Ebonyi State. Is he the Chief of Defence Staff or is he the Commander in chief of the Armed forces that he now determines who gets police security or not?” the statement read in part.
The group counselled relevant authorities to take note of the allegations made by the governor, stressing that upon the expiration of his immunity, he should be invited to clear the air on those he alleged to be sponsoring cultists in the state.
“HURIWA is calling on the Nigerian Police Force to keep Mr. Dave Umahi on their watch list so that he can defend why he had to frame up allegations as weighty as sponsorship of armed cultists against persons who refused to defect with him to his newly found political family of All Progressives Congress,” it added.
Onwubiko recalled how the residence of immediate past Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was searched when a fake security alert was raised and how the man behind the alert was subsequently arraigned in court when nothing incriminating was found in the building. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/11/huriwa-faults-umahi-over-attacks-on-pdp-leaders/amp/

Politics › Insecurity: Northern Elders Hail Sultan For Speaking Truth To Power by omenka(op): 1:46pm On Nov 28, 2020 |
Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development (CONEPD), has applauded the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, for summoning the courage to voice out on the worsening security situation in the northern part of the country.
The Monarch, during the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), had narrated how bandits “go around in the villages, households and markets with their AK 47 rifles, they stop at the market, buy things, pay and collect change, with their weapons openly displayed.”
The National Coordinator, Engr. Zana Goni and National Women Leader, Hajia Mario Bichi, of CONEPD, in a statement, yesterday pointed out that the utterances of the monarch did not only reflect the true situation of things, but had vindicated them.
Goni, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to heed the advise of most Nigerians by rejigging the security architecture and appointing young minds who will salvage the situation.
He further charged other leaders to speak up against insecurity and other precarious situation bedeviling the country.
“We most respectfully commend the Sultan of Sokoto, our father, for stating the true position of things in the North, as it concerns insecurity.
“We had said it over and over again, that the state of insecurity had reached a point where our farmers can hardly access their farms, even as travellers on busy highways can no longer guarantee their safe arrival without being kidnapped.
“Our mothers, fathers and children are now at the mercy of terrorists and bandits, who kill, harass and destroy property without being confronted, in many instances, by our security operatives.
“As patriotic elders, we think the position of the Sultan is a Clarion call to our dear President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, to restructure the security architecture in the country without further delay.
“We applaud our President for ensuring huge budgetary allocation to the military and security sectors, thereby demonstrating his interest in securing lives and property.
“We, however, regret that our Security Chiefs have not shown commensurate commitment in tackling these security challenges, owing to what we see as lethargy and spent ideas.
“Accordingly, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Service Chiefs without further delay, and appoint younger senior officers that will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to bear in addressing the deteriorating security situation in the North in particular, and the country in general,” he said. https://www.today.ng/news/nigeria/insecurity-northern-elders-hail-sultan-speaking-truth-power-329171/amp?__twitter_impression=true

When are we going to take responsibility for our troubles? When are we going to face up to the adversaries within – not in the north or south-west? And when are we going to call out corruption by our own? Isn't this what I've been screaming here for ages? The way we blame northerners for everything, you'd think we have no leaders in the South. It is pathetic. Below was how I put it weeks ago when Okowa started treading the same path. omenka: You see, the reason why Southern governors, despite our claims to enlightenment, always take us for a ride and tend to be hopelessly sloppy in the discharge of their duties is because they've seen that the blame it all on the North card sells like gold to the average southern citizen anyday anytime.
They play the card, sit back, loot with reckless abandon, employ only their relatives into vacant positions, generally do as they please, and none of us would raise even the faintest voice of condemnation against them.
The north is responsible for their refusal to provide us with pipe borne water. The north is the reason they allocate themselves security votes running into billions of naira monthly. The north is the reason they refuse to pay our parents their pensions and salaries. The north is the reason they refuse to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. They're the reason they cant provide us with at least good township roads, let alone rural roads. Etc.
JUST BLAME THE NORTH.
Was this not the same man who just came out to blurt his government has no plans of stopping the payment of pensions to former governors of his state?
That thread struggled to get to page 2, but JUST AS EXPECTED, this one in which he is casting blame on the North is coasting past page 3 already, and would probably get to page 8 by midday.
HE HAS READ YOUR MINDS AND KNOWS WHAT YOU LOTS WANT TO HEAR.
Now, all his sins matter no more- The North Is To Blame!
Dear Southerners, where exactly lies all the education and enlightenment we boast about? Where?
One punk was even saying, with glee, "you would never find omenka on this kind of thread". These are the ones Criminals like Okowa has found immeasurable comfort with, and sadly, such type constitute the bulk of those who criticize the North.
What a shame. I'm glad others are beginning to see reason. |

Politics › German Court Convicts IPOB Members Who Attacked Ekweremadu by omenka(op): 6:44pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
Germany has convicted four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who attacked Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president, TheCable can report.
They have also served their sentences, TheCable further learnt.
The convictions, which were handed out in August, went completely under the radar but diplomatic sources in Germany told TheCable on Friday that the four IPOB members were prosecuted for physical assault and sentenced to 20 days of labour “without pay”.
The Nigerian embassy did not immediately respond to TheCable’s inquiry for the identities of the convicts.
In 2019, the serving senator from Enugu state was beaten up by Biafra agitators in Nuremberg at an event organised by “Ndigbo Germany”.
IPOB — which Nigeria had declared a terrorist organisation — claimed responsibility for the attack which it said “should serve as a warning” to Igbo leaders “that any day we find them in a public event abroad, they will be humiliated”.
Nigerian government officials later informed TheCable that the Bavaria state police had identified four of the attackers in the course of their investigation.
The Nigerian embassy also mounted pressure on the German federal authorities to bring the attackers to justice following the initial reluctance of the state police to investigate the assault which was captured on video.
CONVICTED BUT NOT DEPORTED
Contrary to social media rumours, no IPOB member was deported.
Under section 102 (1), chapter 3, of the German criminal code, attacks against organs and representatives of foreign states are punishable with fines and imprisonment.
It states, “(1) Whosoever commits an attack against the life or limb of a foreign head of state, member of a foreign government, the head of a foreign diplomatic mission who is accredited in the federal territory while the victim is in Germany in his official capacity shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding five years or a fine, in especially serious cases to imprisonment of not less than one year.
“(2) In addition to a sentence of imprisonment of at least six months, the court may order the loss of the ability to hold public office to vote and be elected in public elections (section 45(2) and (5).” However, Ekweremadu was not on an official duty in Germany when he was attacked.
The Nigerian embassy source told TheCable that two of the attackers had initially filed an appeal against their conviction but later withdrew it.
“It was only the four persons identified that were sentenced to 20 days of labour without pay. The sponsors were not identified so they were not prosecuted,” the source said.
Although Ekweremadu could institute a civil case against the attackers, TheCable understands he is yet to do so.
A source close to the senator, however, said the lawmaker has no interest in the issue, although he is aware of the conviction.
Emma Powerful, IPOB spokesman, did not immediately respond to TheCable’s enquiry on the issue. https://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-german-court-convicts-ipob-members-who-attacked-ekweremadu
