I think it is clearly aimed at IVM..

Firstly you are an economic illiterate. All major economies have duties to protect their industries. Especially those that they wish to develop them domestically.

In Japan, Germany and Koreas case they impose hefty duties on foreign cars to favour their own car makers. The result being that the majority of cars driven in their nation are from national carmakers.

In China’s case to avoid heavy duties you have to build a factory in China as Tesla and BMW have done. Only problem is they steal your tech.

America is an interesting case study the majority of cars they drive are American. But the majority of vehicle US manufacturers specialise in are SUVs, why because a foreign SUV attracts 35% duty if imported. A much lower share of other cars are American made in the US because they attract lower import duties.

If you are going to tell lies at least tell a good one. Protecting domestic industry is the first step in industrialisation. From the Meiji restoration in Japan to the more recent miracle on the Han in South Korea, there is no other way.

Yet again Buhari and his cabal highlight their tribal bigotry and economic illiteracy... clowns

Vote them out in 2023..

Foreign AffairsFederal Judge Dismisses Trump Campaign Pennsylvania Lawsuit by omenka(op): 7:44am On Nov 22, 2020
(CNN)A federal judge dealt a death blow to the Trump campaign's effort to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's win of the presidency on Saturday, by dismissing a closely watched lawsuit that sought to invalidate millions of Pennsylvania votes.

"It is not in the power of this Court to violate the Constitution," Judge Matthew Brann of the US District Court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania wrote on Saturday in a withering decision, hours after the final round of filings in the case came in.

The judge wholeheartedly rejected the Trump campaign's attempt to throw out the Pennsylvania vote, noting that Biden has won the state and results will be certified by state officials on Monday. Biden has a margin of more than 81,000 votes in the state.

"In the United States of America, this cannot justify the disenfranchisement of a single voter, let alone all the voters of its sixth most populated state. Our people, laws, and institutions demand more," the judge wrote. "At bottom, Plaintiffs have failed to meet their burden to state a claim upon which relief may be granted."

Though the case was always extremely unlikely to succeed, President Donald Trump's backers and legal team -- and particularly his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani -- had pinned their hopes on the federal judge in Pennsylvania giving some credibility to their suspicions of fraud and entertaining Trump's attempt to overturn the popular vote for Biden.

But Brann, a longtime and well-known Republican in Pennsylvania, refused.

Shortly after the decision came down, Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania congratulated Biden as the President-elect, breaking from party leaders and a vast majority of congressional Republicans who continue to back Trump's efforts to challenge the results.

This was essentially the last major case seeking to throw out or block enough votes that could swing a key state in Trump's favor, and Brann's decision on Saturday is at least the 30th loss or withdrawal of a case from the Trump campaign and its allies since Election Day. There have only been two wins in court for Republicans, about very small numbers of votes.

"Plaintiffs ask this Court to disenfranchise almost seven million voters. This Court has been unable to find any case in which a plaintiff has sought such a drastic remedy in the contest of an election, in terms of the sheer volume of votes asked to be invalidated," Brann wrote Saturday.

In the case, Trump's legal team led by Giuliani had attempted to claim that the Equal Protection rights of two Pennsylvania voters were violated because the state had allowed counties to decide whether absentee ballots sent in with technical problems could be fixed by the voters. The two voters in the lawsuit said that in their counties, they were not allowed to "cure" their ballots, and thus had their ballots rejected, while other counties, like heavily Democratic Philadelphia County, allowed voters to "cure" absentee ballots. That discrepancy, they claimed, meant that Pennsylvania's election results in their entirety should be blocked by court order, which theoretically, could deprive Biden of the state's 20 Electoral College votes.

Brann called the legal reasoning behind the Trump campaign's Equal Protection claim "Frankenstein's Monster."

"The answer to invalidated ballots is not to invalidate millions more," Brann wrote.

Brann also admonished the Trump campaign for presenting no factual proof of voter fraud or other allegations -- evidence that Giuliani and Trump's supporters have repeatedly said is in the works but has never materialized. Elections officials in multiple states as well as judges have said there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

Giuliani, who had swept into the case at the last minute ahead of a hearing on Tuesday before Brann, has been widely criticized for ignoring legal reasoning, leading a team that's made sloppy mistakes in its filings, and for pushing nonsensical and unfounded claims of conspiracy against Trump in Democratic-leaning cities.

"One might expect that when seeking such a startling outcome, a plaintiff would come formidably armed with compelling legal arguments and factual proof of rampant corruption, such that this Court would have no option but to regrettably grant the proposed injunctive relief despite the impact it would have on such a large group of citizens. That has not happened," Brann added. "Instead, this Court has been presented with strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations, unpled in the operative complaint and unsupported by evidence."

The counties in the state are scheduled to certify their election results on Monday.

The judge said any further consideration of this issue "would unduly delay resolution of the issues" regarding certification, and he closed the case. His order on Saturday notes that the Trump campaign cannot try to resurface their claims in a rejiggered version of the lawsuit.

The Trump campaign on Saturday night said they would appeal Brann's ruling, and quickly, with the intention of taking the case to the US Supreme Court.

Toomey emerged as a rare Republican voice so far acknowledging Trump's legal avenues have come to an end.

"With today's decision by Judge Matthew Brann, a longtime conservative Republican whom I know to be a fair and unbiased jurist, to dismiss the Trump campaign's lawsuit, President Trump has exhausted all plausible legal options to challenge the result of the presidential race in Pennsylvania," the GOP senator said in a statement.

"These developments, together with the outcomes in the rest of the nation, confirm that Joe Biden won the 2020 election and will become the 46th President of the United States."

Mike Gwin, a spokesperson for Biden, praised the decision to dismiss the lawsuit.

"The judge's ruling couldn't be clearer: our people, laws, and institutions demand more — and our country will not tolerate Trump's attempt to reverse the results of an election that he decisively lost," Gwin said in a statement.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro also praised the decision in a statement Saturday night. "These claims were meritless from the start and for an audience of one. The will of the people will prevail. These baseless lawsuits need to end," he said.

CrimePolice Arrest 2 Suspected Yahoo Boys With Coffin Containing Undies In Delta by omenka(op): 6:19am On Nov 22, 2020
Operatives of the Delta Police Command and members of a local vigilance group have arrested two suspected Yahoo boys for parading, on their heads, a coffin containing female undies at Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State.

The two boys, it was learnt, were earlier nabbed by local vigilantes at Agidiehe Quarters of Ogwashi-Uku town at about 9.30p.m on Thursday.

At that time they were said to be conveying the coffin from their house to an unknown destination.

It was at the time the two boys were being paraded with the coffin on their heads that operatives of the police at Ogwashu-Uku ran into them and rescued the boys from being killed.

The boys were reportedly forced to open the coffin and female pants and brassieres were found inside. This drew the attention of more villagers to the increasing activities of Yahoo boys in the area.

“The crowd would have mobbed the boys if not for the intervention of the police.

“Where did they get the pants and other female items in the coffin from?” a concerned villager reportedly said.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident, saying the boys were arrested with the coffin for alleged ritual, adding that the command would carry out more investigation into the matter.

PoliticsBode George Faults Akande, Osoba, Others’ Visit To Buhari In The Vila by omenka(op): 6:10am On Nov 22, 2020
By Bola Badmus - Lagos
On Nov 21, 2020

Former Deputy National Chairman of Peoples (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has faulted the visit of chieftain of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), namely, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and Dr. Yomi Finnih to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Vila, Abuja, urging the president not to fall for those who, he said, would eclipse the main issue bedeviling Lagos State in a needless, partisan engagement.

Reports had indicated that the party chieftain visited President Buhari on Friday, but the subject and outcome of the parley, which held behind closed door was unknown.

George made this call on Saturday in a statement titled: ‘The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering,’ describing the visit by APC leaders as needless, unnecessary and veiled in some poorly hidden agenda towards “ulterior personalized desperation.”

George posited that the very absence of the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from the parley made it is easy for people to discern that the visit was stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision.

“The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr. Yomi Finnih and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalized desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision.

“The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“President Muhammadu Buhari should not fall for those who would eclipse the main issue wracking Lagos State in a needless, solicitous self immersed scheming in partisan engagement,” the PDP chieftain stated.

George, who is also the Atọna Oodua of Yorubaland, alleged that the the very pivot of the Lagosian malady was the reckless, irresponsible misappropriation of the people’s commonwealth, adding: “This much I have documented in several public interventions.”

“This, I may add, contributed to the heightened scale of the disgruntlement and the anger of the youths who made the Lekki Toll Gates the very symbol of their rejection of the politics of subjugation,” he added.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Ọsun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Ọrangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. This is my humble birthday offering,” he added further.
