aventura:If my "whining" makes you feel nauseous, stop opening threads authored by me. That would definitely fix your problem. Thanks. |
Firefire:@Bold: You really need to grow up. Now, after this lie has been proven to be what is is- a lie-, back to fabricating more audacious lies PDP would resort, right?? First, it was Clerk swallowing his own words, expressing confidence in the ability of Buhari to lead the country on a right path after he had said the direct opposite just a couple of months earlier. It is just a thing with PDP isn't it? Anyone who does it must either be in PDP or in PDP when they did. Doesn't that make you feel ashamed of your political pathfinders?? |
hahn:You understand. They say he's a bigot when actually they are the ones swimming in bigotry. ![]() |

ECOTERRORS:Ok. Noted. |
ifeegee:We share mutual sentiments. My grouse lies in PDP and her knack for telling barefaced lies. A working prosperous country is what every well meaning Nigerian seeks. |
psucc:Buhari has never been the ethnocentric guy or religious bigot PDP tried to paint him to be. It was all a ruse to dissuade voters from supporting and voting for him. They took this so far Nigerians had to exhume a list of his cabinet members when he was the military HOS, and to people's surprise, he had more Christians than Muslims, and the tribes were more or less evenly spread. Buhari would work with competent hands, but I know he's still try to maintain a balance between the ethnic groups. Ultimately, what he wants, and we desire is a peaceful and prosperous country. Long live Nigeria. |

Good Morning ladies and gentlemen. This thread is created to draw back our attention to what used to be PDP's notion of the person of President Mohamadu Buhari and how they continuously try to force their opinions, most often lies, down our throats, even when the truth stands tall, distinctive and visible- like the Eiffel Tower. Okay, there's a thread trending on the politics board that reads- "Tinubu's political career is over" ( see www.nairaland.com/2369230/tinubus-political-career-over-bode ). Here's an excerpt of what Bode George said: “If he cannot see this now, then it will be foolish of him. He brought in the APC nationalBoy George, as he is fondly called, is a very high ranking PDP leader and promotes the "ideals" and ideas of the party. When he speaks it is assumed his utterances are the positions taken by the party. And so far, he's not been countered on this. The party is apparently ecstatic about Tinubu's loss at the just concluded NASS elections, saying he's not been "cut to size" at the national level and same fate might befall him even in Lagos. Now, here was PDP a couple of months ago: "A Vote For Buhari is a Vote for Tinubu", avowing that Buhari is Tinubu's puppet (see www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/173253-vote-buhari-vote-tinubu-pdp.html). Here's an excerpt from Olisa Metuh's press release: The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Sunday said the APC Presidential candidate, General Buhari is merely a front for Alhaji Tinubu to whom he has already surrendered his powers and firstAnd Tinubu replied thus: ....Tinubu noted that Buhari can never be a stooge to anyone. “A man of such principle and leadership presence cannot ever be a puppet. Those who claim he is a puppet do grave insult to an outstanding patriot and millions of Nigerians who support him.”Now, what defence would PDP as a party have for such distasteful and shameful distortion of facts, which was, is, and will be- Buhari is his own man! Not only has Tinubu's influence been reduced, he has a murder case against him re-opened in court and would possibly be facing charges soon. But PDP wanted us to believe Buhari is a stooge that would be whipped again and again to do Tinubu's bidding. But just like the other innumerable lies fabricated, assembled and launched into the Nigerian politicosphare from Wadata Plaza against the President, this one has also been shot down by the missile of providence. This is a call to all who care to listen and have the interest of the country at heart to be wary of every single statement made by the PDP especially as they relate to the president. PDP has but only one objective since it was founded- retention and consolidation of power- nothing more, nothing less. So help us God. Long live Nigeria. |
ZeezaRapture:I'm sorry. Will do next time. ![]() |
And Bode George's is just beginning after the gamble with Agbaje failed I presume... Look who's talking. I wonder why he hasn't gone on exile as promised. Smh. |
haftob:I don't think so. I think what really frightened them was the fear of losing out completely (when they already have a bird in hand) in an event they went against the deal they had brokered with Saraki. They might have thought, if we nominate one of our own, the absentee law makers just might turn up out of nowhere, and cast their votes in favour of their party's preferred candidate. The "Sarakis" would have revolted, having been stabbed in the back, and held proceedings hostage until the arrival of their colleagues. Upon commencement of voting, they definitely would have leaned towards their party's candidate because it would have been foolhardy still supporting Saraki since he wouldn't have up to 15 votes without the votes from PDP. Eventually, the PDP gambit would have fallen flat on its face and they would have had neither the post of the president or deputy. Talk about half bread... ![]() I don't know if you get my drift... |

Since when has getting up to wobbly start not been part and parcel of our democratic experience. It happened under Salisu Buhari, it happened under Patricia Etteh, it happened under Evans Enwerem, Chuba Okadigbo (RIP), etc. The only time we didn't have such drama was during the return of Mark and Ekweremadu to their previously held positions, 2011. Why is APC's case exceptional?? Or was anyone expecting them to be perfect?? People should understand the import of the events of yesterday- democracy won and was deepened- a promise made and kept by the president even in his inaugural speech "I belong to no one...". The nay sayers had already gone to town spreading falsehood even before the commencement of proceedings that the "Dictator" had struck again, preventing elected congressmen from having access into the complex. Some even went as far as saying "only pro-Saraki law makers were disallowed access into the complex"!! Some said "the inauguration has been postponed", and called it a relapse into dictatorial era! Lies, lies, and more lies against the President while he carries on unperturbed, like the dogged democrat he is. The winners might not have been the preferred candidates of the party whose decision should be supreme over all members of the party, but what has happened has happened and we can only forge ahead from there. Just to add: I hear some people trying to advance the argument in support of a diluted NASS leadership saying we need a "vibrant opposition". My question is- can't the opposition be vibrant without her inclusion in such leadership positions?? Heck the immediate past opposition(s) did it for 15 years (excluding the "Tambuwal Year" and only emerged stronger. It is a shame PDP cannot survive under similar condition. |
munky:You lie. Never have, Never will. And that is a fact anyone whose been following my posts on this forum can attest to. I challenge you to show me such posts I made that shows I was at the "forefront of canstigating a particular tribe." If you want an argument/debate, bring it on, but when you start with such a lie, I most likely not to take you seriously. |
Ariel20:And you too ma'am. |

Diamondwriter:Go back and re-read the thread, perhaps you would understand it better. |
bilulu:Some of you are simply too childish to engage. But just so you know, I'm not a Yoruba man. Deal with the contents of the thread and leave my tribe out of it. Thank you. |
nortcentrallord:Nah, far from it. Contrary to what most of you think, what happened today in no way upsets me. The only problem I have is that they went against party leadership, a sentiment echoed by our President. That aside, what we saw today represents a step further in the process of deepening democratic norms in the country, as promised by Buhari. He let them have their way and elect their own leaders, upholding the tenets of Separation of Powers. I think that should be a credit for him. I created this thread so we could have something of its specific nature in Nairaland archives. I'm very sure sooner than later, events would justify its necessity. Have a good night. |
Chubhie:Hahaha. Talk about like minds. ![]() As for her, all I can say is familiarity indeed breeds contempt. . I don't intend talking about that. ![]() |
raumdeuter:My point is, hope PDP doesn't make any attempt to go back to its old ways of playing those divisive cards when the time comes. You see, they played this how they did because of Ekweremadu not minding the "lopsided" (not like I care where the leaders of the chambers come from) appearance of the positions. Tomorrow, these same people would cry of "marginalisation of the South" when they are soliciting votes and Nigerians being as forgetful as they are, would fall for their tricks. |
aventura:Care to tell me how ![]() By the way, it isn't an "analysis", it is more or less a "statement". |
eph12:Of course I am!! That is the purpose of this thread. To ensure we don't go back to what it used to be where all they talk about is tribe, religion and region. Go back to the politics board and check it out. Just as I predicted, someone has already created a thread complaining "christians got served by hausa/fulani". See what I mean?? |
AhmedMustapha:As a matter of fact, PDP supporters have already started creating such threads!! Refresh the board and see them. Just as I predicted!! Smh. |
sonOfLucifer:Whichever way they chose to play it is up to them, but they should, for their own good, not feature ethnicity and religion. A rude awakening await them if they do. |
Chubhie:Bro, as much as things didn't pan out as some of us desired, I don't see how the party lost here. She controls both chambers and my loyalty is to Buhari and the party. I'd only feel under the weather when they lose. Did G.F pt. II today by the way. Awesome as always. Discovered a few new things. ![]() |
ZeroTolerance:I still look forward to visiting nairaland for latest news in politics, and contributing to discussions when need be. How does that translate to having an "empty life"?? I made a promise not to insult anyone on this forum anymore. You guys are pushing me by the second to break my vow, but being who I am, I'd not do so. I don't know how old you are but you need to learn to speak to people with respect. That's all I'd tell you. Have a good evening. |
Good evening all. This thread isn't created to spite any one or any people. It is just a wake up call to majority Nigerians, who happen to be very poor at remembering events of history and how they are meant to shape our thought processes and indeed orientation. Now, very interesting events happened in the last 24 hours in our National Legislative Chambers. Both chambers were inaugurated and their leadership elected. APC being the dominant party clinched the top spots in both chambers, but as we all know, PDP and her supporters seem to be the most jubilant party over the outcome of the elections, why, one might be tempted to ask. In the run up to the general elections, Saraki whom PDP supported doggedly in the just concluded NASS election, was hounded by the same party, threatened with all manner of sanctions that eventually culminated in his exit from the party. His rift with the party (PDP) and the presidency back then, began with his blowing the lid on what has come to be known as the biggest heist in the nation's history- the Subsidy Scam- which ran into tens of billions of dollars. He was buffeted from all sides with all manner of allegations and barely survived having himself locked up in jail. He eventually found a sanctuary in the opposition, now the ruling party. Now, inexplicably, the same party that threw everything but the kitchen sink at this recalcitrant and rebellious congressman sees him as a valiant, their knight in shining armour. Wonders huh? Well they voted for him in the absence of half of the members of the Senate as the Senate president, case closed., and for what?- just to spite the opposition, maybe, and to have their man as the Deputy. In the Green Chamber, Dagora emerged the Speaker. I know quite little about him, but nevertheless, that is immaterial to the crux of this piece. Here's what my problem is: during the electioneering campaigns, Nigerians/electorates were subjected to all manner of divisive and potentially catastrophic propaganda from the PDP. To mention a few, we saw things like- 1. Buhari is too old to be a leader. 2. Buhari is a terrorist sponsor. 3. Buhari has fossilised ideas and cannot lead a 21st century country effectively. 4. Buhari has prostate cancer and might die soon. 5. Buhari's candidacy is a product Northern conspiracy for National domination. 6. Buhari is "tribalistic". 7. The Northerners suffer from a "Born to Rule Syndrome". 8. APC is a party akin to the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. It is dominated by Muslims and Northerners. And others too numerous to mention. Numbers 5-8 are my major concern. Most of the points listed above were propagated and hammered on by same people who are jubilant over the emergence of Dagora and Saraki as Speaker HoR and Senate President respectively. Dagora is a Northerner, Saraki is from North Central (includes christian dominated states such as Taraba, plateau, Benue, but when the time comes, PDP will call him a "Northerner", and when you say "North", everyone thinks "Islam/Muslim). It is necessary putting this in writing because a time will come, perhaps in 2019, when PDP would want to replay that ethnic, religious, and regional cards which appears to be the only ammo in their arsenal- polarise Nigerians along these lines, have them vote based on these sentiments, and see to your retention in office! Now, the situation we have at present shows Three of the Top Four Positions are occupied by "Northerners" but PDP is happy about it and apparently has no qualms whatsoever with the arrangement. I have always been against all that North, South, East, West, Muslim, Christian, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo politicking. It has never and will never be the panacea to Nigeria's innumerable problems. Have always been pro Nigeria and would always support whoever it is that gets into an office as far as their competence isn't in doubt. Without the support of PDP, what happened today wouldn't have happened, so we would hold them to account when the time comes, and remind them of their lofty stance at this time. The events of today should effectively put to rest all that ethnoreligious politicking that PDP is known for. We look forward to a very productive National Assembly. Congrats to Saraki. Congrats to Dagora. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Cc: Seun, Ishilove, Lalasticlala.
