lecturerdabo:True, the state of the economy sucks. However, if seeming 'trivial' issues of noise pollution nuisance (which is by no means trivial, as it has serious economic, social, psychological, mental, medical, etc implications) is not or cannot be addressed and nipped in the bud by government, they are bound to and should be anticipated to fail on bigger issues of governance. You don't start to climb a tree from the top. You must learn to dot the (i) and cross the (t). |
DesChyko:Agreed, and the governor addressed the bars, shops, music peddlers etc in the other write up. Focus on religion is because by scriptural teachings, guidelines, references, etc, worship centers should know better, living by example; been Christ-like. If Jesus walked the face of the earth today, will he condone arbitrary noise pollution nuisance by these worship centers or condemn it? What stinks, stinks; air-freshners are 'band-aid measures'. The stench remains there. Apples are not grapes. |
cckris:1. When it constitutes noise pollution nuisance. 2. When it disturbs the public and neighbors peace. Religiously, for christians, CAN should also make it their business when it violates and misrepresents the directives of the Bible stated in the book of Matthew and mentioned above. Each one has a right to worship as chosen, but that right stops when its at the expense of the peace of the neighbor or environ. Take out just a lil time to read. Be informed. |
jcross19:No qualms. Opinions are like assholes...everyone has one. I also suggest you check the dictionary definition of 'noise'. |
divinehand2003:I believe if required, and with cooperration of the British government, she can be extradicted, and placed under tight security and surveillance while back in Nigeria. And when due sent back to the British government. It is a viable option. She is in a quagmire and sure got her hands full. Its a real mess. |
The Federal and State Governments in Nigeria should emulate the directives of the Kaduna State Governor El Rufai, below. There is need of an enforced Bill for religious practise reform and public sanity. Religious practices in Nigeria has fast deteriorated. Moreso with these so-called new age churches with unbearable loud playing drums, instruments, music with external and internal speakers, with wreckless abandon and impunity. Advertising their ignorance and emptiness (empty vessels make loud noise - the emptier in the holy spirit, the louder they get) at the expense of neighbors and the general public. Totally illegal and unethical display of gross irresponsibilty and sheer lunacy. Maybe their God is DEAF... too bad. You cannot worship at your neighbor's expense and peace. It is unGodly. These worship centers actions, behaviors and noise pollution is abominable, dismal, grossly irresponsible, selfish, irritating, annoying, inconsiderate, abusive, noisely terrorising, exploitative, deceptive, dishonorable, repelling, criminal, violent, murderous, uncontrolable, unregarding, unholy, scamming, fraudulent, illiterate-infested, unethical, immoral, most importantly a cesspool of noise-pollution nuisance, neighborhood and community disregarding, a bombastic hulabaloo. They are reputedly notorious for disobeying the teachings of the bible which they profess. In this instance, the book of Matthew chapter 6, teaches that: 6. ''But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, ... So what God are they praying to? Surely not the Living God. They only make unprecedented noise advertsing their worship center business for the sake of unholy profit. It should also be made unlawful that no worship center be established within 100 metres of a residential home, and not more than one within the space of 3 streets combined. License to preach should only be granted to graduates of bonafide and accredited religious institutions with approved and endorsed certificates from such institutions. Worship buildings must be approved prior to construction by the commissioner's offices for lands, housing and survey statewide, with commercial and residential zoning edicts instituted and enforced. Structures of new and existing violators should be destroyed. A designated complaint hotline with phone numbers should be made available and texts/ calls investigated. A complainant need not come or write to any office to be heard. It promotes delay of justice. Today 2016, the call for worship by mosques using external speakers should also be banned. It is also noise pollution. Besides everyone today have access to alarm clocks, watches or phones which can be set accordingly. If the Bill is passed by the national or respective state house of assembly, customary courts should prosecute all violators with fines ranging from N250,000 or 2 years jail term. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW! All must live and co-exist responsibly under the rule of law or pay the price. Worship Responsibly! El-rufai Moves To Regulate Religious Preaching In Kaduna Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has sent a bill to the State House of Assembly to regulate religious preaching across the state. The bill titled: “A bill for a law to substitute the Kaduna State religious preaching law, 1984” is also aimed at banning the usage of loudspeaker for religious purposes “other than inside a Mosques or Church and the surrounding areas outside the stipulated prayer times.” Governor el-Rufai in the bill exclusively obtained by LEADERSHIP, wants the Assembly to enact the law that will stop the playing or circulating of “all cassettes, CDs, flash drives or any other communication gadgets containing religious recordings from accredited preachers other than inside one’s house, porch, Church, Mosques and other designated place of worship.” The bill seeks to ban sales or playing of any cassette containing “religious recordings in which abusive language is used against any person or religious organisation or religious leaders (past or present).” The bill, if pasted into law will prohibit sales of religious books, usage of abusive and derogatory terms in describing any religion. The bill propose that any person found guilty of preaching without a valid licence and other offences under the law “shall be liable to two years in prison or pay a fine of N200, 000.” Sharia courts and customary courts under the bill if past into law, shall have the jurisdiction to try violators. http://leadership.ng/news/503390 /el-rufai-moves-regulate-religious- preaching-kaduna |

ladyF:Nahhhh. Two words! |
MeloGistDotCom:Then talk or act like you do believe and don't be two-cheeked. |
Is it their personal money or state money? It it is state, then it should read 'Akwa Ibom state donate .....' a good gesture, but they should not take personal credit. It will be wrong and unethical of them. If it is their personal 'hard earned' legitimate money, then EFCC should investigate as done in dev. Countries. People generally do not do that for legitimate money labored for. This is how embezzlement and corruption begins. Is it Xmas and are they santa claus? |
On a serious note, it will be helpful if Mr. President should stop or reduce his travels here and there. How do these 'frequent flyer' travels help Nigeria especially now? Is it an avoidance of reality or will ignoring the country's issues by been absent make them go away? We must be real here, or maybe Mr. President is on a mission to go down in history as the most travelled president within 8-9 months of all time. To what end though? Moreso with a country experiencing a seriously failing economy. Sir, must you travel this much? Why, i read and hear the people ask? How does it benefit the masses? If it doesn't, then for all intent and purpose is practically wasteful spending and undesirable. The cost of these travels alone is more than enough to build factories, create jobs for unemployed graduates loitering the streets. Presidents of countries with stable economies rarely even travel half as much. So why Mr. President why? As a father to a son, I personally respect you much, but i must say to you Mr President that no matter reasons and excuses that may be given to support your much travels, in light of the countries issues borders on avoidance and negligence. Mr. President sir, You may be fighting corruption with no convictions to date, and maybe not amassing and storing away monies but the cost of travel and spendings, moreso when not a dire necessity may also be perceived by some as corrupt. So i ask Mr President, what is the opportunity cost to Nigeria if you are more present at home? Will Nigeria quake? For your information sir, at least psychologically, been absent than present is not a moral or confidence booster to the average Nigerian at any time, especially now. Just for how will these ongoing travels of here today and gone tomorrow go on for? Even a goodwill ambassador to the world may not travel half as much as you. Mr President sir, i implore you to 'CHANGE' your attitude and disposition concerning your travels. You have a foreign affairs minister and minstry, etc, make them useful and have them earn their pay sir. Mr President sir, its not easy to handle issues when at home, and surely more difficult away from home. i bid you, if you are truly serious and i believe you are and concerned about Nigeria and her general welfare, be more present. I personally do like you and support your vision, dreams and hopes for Nigeria. Lets be seriously more purposeful and truly committed together (Nigeria) and make 'it' work. I also suggest that it will augur well if you conduct a once a month public briefing address to we the people on the state of the nation. It really will be positive and helpful sir especially in this desperate times. It does not sit well with me when i hear or read negative comments about the Presidency. Most comments which may stem from ignorance which may also be a factor of effective communication gap between the Presidency and we the people. Thank you, Mr. President. Blessings and wish you well. |

FINE! Now Jail the baaaiiich for life, and all others involved and flush key down the loo. Make a National announcement with verifiable photos in prison, in her cell room and bed with common inmates. Nigeria's glory days had the younger ones in command. Nigeria's sour days have the older ones in charge. In this rebuilding times and hereon ... I submit this motion that no one above AGE 45 and/ or have either held office and served as a President, Minister, Governor, Commissioner or Chairman at any government or party level, should be permitted to run for or appointed to any of these positions come 2019 and thereafter for at least 20 years. We may require a Constitutional Reform/ Ammendment to ascertain this, so be it. May the Good Lord Bless Nigeria. Those in favor click Like. QED!!! |

RichYoungNigger:You must have meant Goodluck Ebere Jonathan Why?? The evil that men do live with/ or after them. RIP, Samuel Oki. Sadly unfortunate! Hope Pa is safe and fine. |
flexxyworld:PMB helllllloooooo? Are you around there sir ...? If available, step up the plate sir and FIRE ALL PHCN, DISCOS, GENCOS staff... They've outlived their uselessness, defiled Senate orders, executing their pre-meditated threat of TREASONABLE ACTIONS, SABOTAGING the nation's progress, citizen safety and welfare in this crunch times. How patriotic ![]() Their plunging the nation into blackout only confirm outliving their uselessness; and they thus have thrown in the towel. The nation is in darkness; or does Aso Rock have electricity supply sir? And while @ it, remember to dissolve and discontinue this so-called INNEFICIENT, FRAUDULENT, CORRUPT, CALLOUS, THIEVING, EMBARASSMENT electricity privatisation ass-crap. Oh lest i forget sir, they must be made to refund all collected FRAUDULENT N750 'service' but non-service charge from subscribers. At least for the month of January 2016 billings. Thank you Mr. President, we the people trust in your no-nonsense disposition and are loyal sir. |

Empredboy:... And of course EMPTY CONTAINERS make loud noise. The emptier ... The noisier!!! |
johnw74:And Jesus questioned not and condemned not? |
johnw74:Really? Last time checked, the Romans, king Constantine et al at the council meeting of 326 @ Niceae formulated and created christianity and then the Roman Catholic Church. So do you here born yesterday in someplace in Nigeria now know better than the originators of the christian religion which you doggedly follow? Research and read. Strive to be adequately informed. |
Richardonald:Did you mean to say Federal Govmess? ;( |
psucc:Yes oooooo! Spotlight should also be on EFCC and the office should be monitored. Hard to find or recover something missing if by chance a 'thief' is unknowingly put in charge... COULD INVESTIGATING & PROBING EFCC STAFF ALSO BE TAINTED ![]() ?I do ponder... |
doctokwus:what do you expect from BLONDE WIG (colo... mentality) wearing counsels? |
emamos:NO ITS NOT WELL! AWAKE. |
GoodGovernance:Is it a new situation that just came up when they got there. As a private business, should customers provide your start-up and operational cost and finance? And the way out for is to threaten to hold the nation to a blackout ransom and blackmail, a treasonable statement and offence? Privatisation of the nation's electricity power supply and the way it has been managed to date is a scam ... A FRAUD! Since they are so inept and can't meet up... Let them gerrrrrrrooouutttt jor. They definitely won't be missed!!! |
Goke7:You're very welcome. Needless to mention...The blatant failure of the provision of regular power supply in Nigeria through the years is the prime cause of the Nation's lack of development, growth and progress. It is Nigeria's #1 ANATHEMA; (NEPA, PHCN, DISCOS, GENCOS etc); Change the name, but the leopard's spot remains unchangeable. Alongst with thieving politicians, soldiers and public servants with wreckless impunity in high places! Disgraceful, Shameful, Appalling!! When a scavenging inefficient service provider (PHCN, Discos, Gencos, etc) resorts to threats and 'scary' tactics of blackmail against consumers that have been extorted by them for years, consumers who now say ENOUGH, NO MORE! Then its time for them to lock up the shop and go home. As it translates to mean that, if you deny our continued extortion and corruption, then we will hold you the nation, Nigeria to ransom and put it in darkness. An apparent threat and act of irresponsibility, sabotage and a TREASONABLE THREAT & OFFENCE . Not only should privatisation be dissolved, those behind the threat and statement and act, should be arrested and charged to court for TREASON, BLACKMAIL, SABOTAGE, CONSPIRACY TO DESTABILIZE THE NATIONS ECONOMY AND PROGRESS, CONSPIRACY TO ENDANGER LIFE AND WELFARE OF THE CITIZENS, CONSPIRACY TO DEFRAUD THE PEOPLE, CONSPIRACY TO NEGATE THE DIRECTIVES OF SENATE RULING, CONSPIRACY TO PLUNGE THE NATION INTO DARKNESS. etc, etc. In addition those that approved the privatisation, without first ascertaining and confirming that these shylock companies have the resources and capabIility to provide such service on their own, without provision been derived at the expense of the consumers, ...should also be charged to court to explain why the approval for privatisation in the first place; and moreso to these inneficient, irresponsible, money-scheming, extorting, scamming companies. These, the Buhari administration should investigate to maintain credibility in the fight against corruption. If done, am certain cans of worm will be open and exposed. No pu*sy-footing. Leave no stone unturned, especially an ugly, fraudulent, failed one with a monstrous head like PHCN, Discos, Gencos and there cohorts! As already mentioned, the threat to plunge the nation into darkness is assuming and empty on their part, because no change will be felt by consumers anyway, who've had to pay them unduly only to be rewarded with mediocre performance, un-service and darkness. The bright side is consumers then wouldn't officially have to pay anymore for no service. And as this happens they will be officially rendered useless...which they are and sent packing where their sorry arses belong. ELECTRICITY PRIVATISATION HAS FAILED THE NATION & THE PEOPLE IT WAS ESTABLISHED TO SUPPOSEDLY SERVE AND SHOULD BE SCRAPPED, DISSOLVED WITH ''IMMEDIATE EFFECT AND AUTOMATIC ALACRITY'' Darn inneficient, unscroupulous, thieiving, extorting, bomboclauds! Let them all go bury their heads in you know where... President Muhammadu Buhari... TIME TO ACT!!! LET YOUR AXE REIGN ON THIS GOOD FOR NOTHING ELECTRICITY POWER SECTOR NOOOWWWWWWW! |
ON ELECTRICITY TARIFF INCREASE... (A CALL FOR EMANCIPATION & FREEDOM). Suggestions: 1. Lifestyle changes for the common man, do all you have to do before dusk, then prepare and go to bed after dark. Early to bed, early to rise, makes one strong healthy and wise. Thus undue power cut or blackout threats will be innefective. Afterall, artificial (nepa, phcn, discos, gencos, generators etc) light after dark is actually an adopted learned lifestlye that we became depended upon. If God wanted it otherwise, there will be no dusk, which i believe has its purpose, just like dawn. If we can all sacrifice and do this, the demand for power will fall tremendously. Thus electricity power extortion will be fade off. Boycott their cut-throat un-services. With time, with little or no demand for light after dark from them, these companies will either collapse or offer free deals to attract usage of their negleted supply. We must learn to unlearn that which enslaves us. Possible societal effects: a). It will make us seriously seek and create better alternatives, eg solar at a very cheap and affordable rate. B) we will literarily learn to make hay while the sun shines. C) longer night rest and increased efficiency next day. D) back to the 'dark ages'? We already live as such for decades anyway at a high price. E). Outsource power supply to foreign companies. Theirs do work without exploiting and making their people pay for un-used services...yet they are no magicians. F). Dissolve privatisation of electricity services . Let the Feds handle it. Nigeria's glory days of power supply goes far back as when the British were here and when we had E.C.N. (Electrical Corporation of Nigeria). Most of you around today may not know about ECN. G) let businesses, corporations etc , if they must use power and or generators. H) if the masses can all shun these inefficient, extorting, power supply companies and their lukewarm services, the Feds will wake up and provide a solution. I) a nationwide call to action & change street demonstration boycotting use of this failed privatisation...he who pays the piper, ought to dictate the tune, not the other way round. Nepa, phcn, discos, gencos, generators etc need the people to exist and function, the people dont actually need them to exist and function. If these electricty provision bodies are incapable of providing adequate services without first milking the populace to finance their cost, then they should quit and throw in the towel. It is illegal, criminal and corrupt to charge the people any fixed amount and in this regard N750 monthly fixed charges, whether you provide service or not, or whether the mediocre service is consumed or not; as though that isn't appaling enough, they have the effrontery of tariff increase. I spit on you and such audacity and reject you! The Senate, President Muhammadu Buhari with the sword of anti-corruption, should not allow this to be, lest they appear un-serious. Hitherto, these private companies should not open shop for business, if they within can't cover operational cost. WHY THE PRIVATISATION ANYWAY? IT IS AN APPARENT FRAUD & FAILURE AND SHOULD BE SCRAPPED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT!!! It is a scam, unethical and immoral to not provide billing meters, moreso when it is deliberate, with meters lying fallow in offices and turn around extorting monies from the masses using over-inflated estimated billing methods. How exactly are these estimates arrived at? What are the actual indices used? The people must arise, awake and dissolve this extortive callous matrimony of the apron string dependence of all service providers, including ineffectual, slowpoke governments. While a good efficient political 'change' will always be embraced, I believe the actual 'change' Nigeria needs isn't political or external, but inwards, in the individual. A 'change' of self-sufficiency, self-contentment, self acceptance and self-dependence. Let us shed all the negatives, let them all go. We will be better and happier humans. These scavengers have this audacity really because Nigerians are apologetically way too meek, scared, yellow-bellied, yellow-livered and dis-united; still enslaved under the whims and caprices of the canopy of divide-and-rule. Imagine how your politicians, soldiers, public servants STEAL with gross impunity and you go to sleep and wake up and go about daily... business as usual. Arrests here, probe there, money recovered here or there, from who no convictions, no one jailed to date. No...No...No!!!NIGERIANS, ENOUGH OF THE BULL!!!!!! WE MUST GET UP, STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS AND NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!! Your civil rights (...'left') activists are couch potatoes and your shameless BLONDE WIG wearing, thieving, conniving judiciary have their heads buried between their cracks. So we must emancipate and liberate ourselves from this physical, emotional, mental and spiritual slavery NOW! The best things in life (Nature) are actually free! |
