In addition,how can we best manage raising day old chicks this period too to avoid deaths and diseases.....pls assist as my 1000 DOC will come in on thursday....

@Safex101 .....d cages can take 120 birds and I dnt know the exact cost as at today.But i got mine at a discounted price of 64k cos he is my friend.

@Safes101....I can link you up with the guy who constructed the cages am using now.They are locally fabricated cages with automatic nipples.So when u are ready ...call me and lets talk.

@Safex101......I am in Benin and my farm is also in benin too.Please how dd you get the asbestos roofing sheets(d old ones). Is it cheaper than the normal roofing sheets? Your farm construction is insprining and challenging.I am starting mine next week and wont mind if you can share your construction notes with me.I noticed that you ddnt d the initial block work,pls any reason? Is it easy to complete the wood work first before doing the block work? Your advice will be highly appreciated.

@Omotoade.....The pictures of the cages are somewhere in this thread.Just check from page 1 to now...u will see whr i posted them.TheY are locally done and are as good as the imported ones cos the young man who does them has partners in india.So they are more or less made in india so to say cos he is using india technology so to say.

Cages that can house 120 are sold for 65-70k depending on ur location and bargaining capacity .I can give you contacts of the guy i bought my own from.

@Nbg4real.....Welldone so far.Pls be patient with ur birds and feed them more.They will pick up. As per POL,it is usually a faster and easier way to go for newbies .Yes,you can get POL frm Animal Care .I bought mine at N1000 per POL and I called them two weeks ago and they said next booking is around Jan and the birds would be ready in May,2014. So I advise that you start the process of booking for ur birds now.The performance of my birds has been very good,doing well above 85% daily and they started laying at week18,5days and I purchased them at 16weeks.

Local cages now come with nipple drinkers that are connected to a central tank that supply water to all the cells of the cages. Thess kind of cages make poultry farming easy and interesting.It is d way to go my brother.

Dear All, I hv made several attempts at registering for the Youwin programme for about two weeks now and the site keeps coming back with an error message -"Please select the highest qualification you hvae obtained" even after I hv selected my highest qualification. Please, has anyone experienced similar situation and how did you manage it.Please assist. Thank you.

Davonny...my farm is in benin city .I am sure the POLs will perform same way anywhere in nigeria if giving adequate care and fed well.Gud luck.

Davonny......i got mine for 1K per one and it takes a minimum of a month and above from date of booking to time of delivery.So the earlier u start d better bro.

davonny.....my experience with POL from Animal Care has been very interesting and I suggest you buy from them.I got 500 POLs on August 13 ,2013 and they laid their first two eggs on August 31 and as we speak ,they hv been doing 13crates plus since d beginning of October.Am sure that is not a bad record for a newcomer like me.
Please,get from them and if possible start them on cages.Wish u luck.

how many crates do you want to buy and at what price? so that we can help source for eggs for u from benin.

Dear fellow poultry farmers,I'm happy to inform you that I got the first two eggs from my farm exactly 18weeks 5days on friday last week and the number is growing gradually.
We are optimisitic that we are on the right track.Thanks to all the info and support from all of you.lets keep it coming.

Good morning all, quite a while. My POLs arrived on the 12 August and they are doing verywell.They are 17 weeks today . Dear colleagues, when should one expect the first egg? I give them topfeeds and got d POLs from Animal Care. God bless all d farmers cos we r working hard to feed our pple.

Please,how much does it cost to transport one POL from say Ogere to Benin? They are asking me to pay N180 per bird and for 500POLs =N90,000.00 and I find that very high.I need help urgently becasue anything we can do to reduce cost as farmers add to our eventual profitability.

Hello Poultry farmers, I hv missed the forum for a while now...I am back.I am happy to inform us all that I hv taken delivery of my cages -six in number that can house 720 layers.I shall send the pix as soon as am able to do so. I am patiently expecting my 500 POLs at 16weeks in August from Animal Care.Let's keep the fire burning as we are all meant for the top.

I am happy the forum has been most active and it shall remain so even when we have all become billionaires and exporters of poultry products.(Amen).

I have deposited cash for 500 POLs and they will be supplied to me in August at 16weeks old by Animal Care.
