Ha ha ha ha .  An accidental opportunist behaving in an anti-people manner ? What else is new ? The like of Fashola are baning the use of siren and deliberately moving away from practices that intimidate the electorate and make like difficult for the average man yet all we get from GEJ is "more of the same" emperor posturing . Is it not this same President that saw a taxi driver languishing in jail for over three months because he "crashed" into the convoy of Mr. President when it was most likely the incompetence of Jonathan's  security details that were at fault in the first place?  Nothing is random with GEJ. All we see are indicators of a President , possibly very callous , who is not bothered about the plight of others. Below is the link to the Taxi driver thread when I stated that Jonathan is at ease with dictatorial behaviour:

If not for all these "shouts" from Ribadu , I would have long forgotten that he still in the race.

He seems to be reading the same books Atiku read before the PDP primaries. Not a really smart move. Let him focus on his programmes and not this outdated "shouting" style.
PoliticsRe: Let's Compare Their Track Records! Buhari Vs Ribadu Vs Gej by onemopol: 12:04pm On Feb 24, 2011
If you cant see these achievements of GEJ , then i  cant help you.

GEJ within a short period has scored above average, if those scoring him are realist, and not some embittered Nigerians who blame govt for all their woes,

1. fixed the petroleum brouhaha. All Our refineries are working  - checked (that affected my life, atleast, im not queuing shamelessly with gallons no more)

2. content bill passed - checked (i wonder how many of you know what it means, and it will change lives of many graduates) We have more bills to go like PIB,

3. NPF is facing a big time reshuffle and re-orientation (for the 1st time, we have a leader who took them off the check points from killing citizens, and for once, I can drive around with peace knowing some naughty person wont shoot me over N20, and this is affecting the average commuters in Nigeria positively).

4. We are almost overshooting our daily opec quota . why? because MEND and its many factions are getting checked (its difficult enough to control Nigerians, we think we are too smart, let alone an armed guy who feels hes been subjugated and needs to take what he feel is his, it will be tough fight against MEND, especially when they feel the guy on-top is one of theirs).

5. PHCN workers are been paid off. PHCN is getting privatized, and it wont be just another political movie. We handle construction works for AFC, and thats one of the company thats getting ready to buy PHCN, though PHCN wont be sold to a company linked with Charles Soludo and many ex-bankers. And did you notice the improvement in electricity supply despite the fact PHCN staff are doing their best to sabotage the privatization moves?

6. And he has increased workers wages, and maintain industrial harmony among workers.

7. For once, we have a president who is operating an "Open System". How many of you ever got your views through UMY? Or to OBJ?

8. There has been a sincere move to work on our educational systems. We need more tertiary institutions, and we have a president who strongly believes the quality of education needs to be changed. You dont change quality in 9 months! Not when you are an accidental leader who feels obligated to make a change.

Not a smart way to conceed defeat my guy. Pdp will win clean in a free and fair election. Think political structure and you 'd understand what i mean.

CPC is just buhari and him alone, No structure to even rattle half of the country. Think ACN and know that it is simply SW. Nothing more. Now instead of an aliance CPC and ACN are running different shows. This must be some high level delusion.
PoliticsRe: Yes, Jonathan Has Finally Contested And Won An Election by onemopol: 2:14pm On Jan 14, 2011
na_so:
" He has no political experience",
"He has never contested an election before not even at the ward level" ,
"He is toying with the North, they will bring him to his knees"
"Atiku has been a veteran from the pre june 12 days ,he will teach GEJ a political lesson"
"This will be a replica of the failed third term bid, once the core north is not comfortable with it, then it will fail"
"GEJ is not even sure of the votes of his SS region, Even his home state (Bayelsa) is in disarray , there are feelers that Atiku will blindside him even in his homefront"
" Atiku overtakes GEJ in delegate poll"
"Jonathan's team rattled by atiku's choice and organised campaigns"
"Atiku floors Jonathan"
"Governors only deceiving Jonathan"

These were all common lines used to discount the strength of GEJ, hence we waited in anticipation , positive of our man's chances but somehow surprised about the audaciousness of our opponents and detractors. Positive becuase of the conflicting tones from the opponents camp, positive because we could not reconcile the warnings of impending political disgrace that loomed for GEJ, while at the same time asking that he should not even enter the contest, becuase it was a call to anarchy.

Positive becuase the self acclaimed master of negotiation and "politricks" showed his waning belief in his old tools and resorted to boko-haramish threats warning the leadership of the country in very stern terms that violent change was seemingly inevitable. The bombs went off, churches got burnt and finally attempts were made to provoke the military-----Bombs went off in their very barracks. Our opponents too excited about happenings attempted using sober moments to score cheap political points. All these harrasements strengthened our belief.

Finally the day came and all is now history. what else can I say? Which state do I award for loyalty? IS IT AKWA IBOM THAT MADE IT 141-0 OR KATSINA WHOSE LOSS INFORMED THE CURRENT HAPPENINGS , BUT REFUSED TO BE FOOLED BY THE CIROMA LED 9 UNWISE MEN BY MAKING IT 147-11?

YES GEJ HAS CONTESTED THE PRIMARIES AND WON. YES IT IS NOT YET UHURU, BUT LIKE IT OR NOT, THE BATTLES WE HAVE BEHIND US ARE TOUGHER THAN THE ONES AHEAD.

WHAT NEXT DO OUR OPPONENTS HAVE TO SAY?
Word. You did not even mention the attempts to stop him through the courts.

Abeg shut up and keep your votes.

In the OBJ days , i once witnessed the blocking of the entire mile2-oshodi stretch for OKadigbo who was then the senate president.

For issues like this, security details handle the modus. All the president needs is safety, then the security details set the operational guidelines to ensure his safety based on location, special INTEL available at that time, and the general tone of the nation.

With the threats from ACF, Ciroma and atiku coupled with tangible proof from the iranian shipments , you want him to be careless with his security abi.

What i want to ask , is if you ever witnessed any  UMYA  visit to lagos? then clearly explain how it went.

2011: PDP Reps endorse Jonathan •PDP N/West govs disagree on president •As court rejects suit on zoning
| Print | E-mail
Written by Idowu Samuel, Hassan Ibrahim and Ayodele Adesanmi, with Agency Report
Thursday, 02 December 2010

MEMBERS of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan's presidential ambition, through a unanimous vote proposed by the Speaker, Honourable Dimeji Bankole.

The leadership of the ruling party had earlier in the day stormed the House and held a closed door session with the PDP caucus in the House to prepare ground for the grand endorsement.

It was on the basis of the initial rapport between the PDP and the Representatives that a cocktail party was packaged by the House for the PDP caucus to meet with the president.

While the PDP caucus in the House endorsed Jonathan for 2011, the president equally assured to guarantee a high return rate of members to the House in 2011.

Vice-President Namadi Sambo accompanied President Jonathan to the cocktail which was held in the official residence of the Speaker at the Apo Legislators Quarters, Abuja

Meanwhile, governors from the North-West zone that converged in Kaduna on Wednesday, were not able to endorse President Jonathan for the 2011 presidential election due to divergent views amongst them, a source close to the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House Kaduna, venue of their meeting, said.

The governors had arrived in Kaduna on Tuesday in anticipation of the arrival of President Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo. Newsmen had earlier been told that Jonathan and Sambo would be in the state capital for a grand rally and meeting of all PDP members and stakeholders ahead of the 2011 general election.

The North-West governors, however, held a closed door meeting for several hours in the inner chambers of the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House and the governor of Kastina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, told newsmen after the meeting that they only discussed the strategies to be adopted ahead of the 2011 general election, to ensure victory for the PDP in the zone.

Governor Shema, who is also the coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign in the North-West zone, declined to speak on whether the governors had endorsed the Jonathan/Sambo ticket for the 2011 presidential election.

The source explained that the pro-Jonathan governors in the North-West zone had planned to come up with a statement endorsing Jonathan for 2011, a development that might not go down well with those who were opposed to the Jonathan /Sambo ticket.

Meanwhile, the president and his deputy are expected to be in Kaduna on Saturday and already, the crocodile city is wearing a new look as Jonathan/Sambo billboards and posters adorn strategic areas in the state capital and its environs.

Meanwhile, an Abuja high court, on Wednesday struck out the suit filed by a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sani Dutsinma, asking it to order the party to field a presidential candidate from the North.

In his judgment, Justice Lawal Gummi, who is the FCT Chief Judge, said that the issue of zoning, rotation or who to sponsor in the PDP was “purely a domestic and political affair.”

“The court will not venture or adjudicate on such matters as to order a party to field a candidate from a particular zone for the purpose of contesting,” Gummi said.

Dutsinma sued the PDP and the national chairman of the party, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, over alleged breach of party constitution on zoning and rotation of political offices.

He also challenged the alleged non-adherence to the provisions of Article 7.2 (c) of the PDP constitution which provided for the principle of rotation and zoning of elective offices across the federation.

The plaintiff also wanted the court to compel the PDP to zone the presidency to the North, insisting that the North was entitled to another term in office.

But the judge said: “While acknowledging the provisions in the said article 7.2 (c) that the party has agreed to zone its political offices, it did not state where the candidate must come from and did not state the period upon which such a person should hold office.

“A court of law is not a political party regulatory commission. We are here to protect and ensure that politicians are protected from themselves.

“We will not interfere in the domestic affairs of political parties,” the judge said.

On whether the plaintiff had a locus standi to file such a suit, Justice Gummi ruled that the plaintiff as a duly registered member of the party had a right to institute the suit.

“The plaintiff has been able to prove that he is a member of the PDP and has met all financial obligations as required by the party.

“He has also shown that he is contesting the office of the president with the receipt from payment of the required fees and a copy of the form filled by him,” he said.

In a related development, another member of the PDP, Chief Cyracus Njoku, had asked for the withdrawal of his suit challenging the non-implementation of zoning and rotation of political offices.

Njoku also sued President Goodluck Jonathan, the party and the national chairman, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, over alleged breach of party constitution on zoning and rotation of political offices in PDP.

In the matter which also came up before Justice Gummi, Njoku, through his counsel, Mr Ugochukwu Osuagwu, asked the court to strike out the matter.

Although no reason was given for the prayer, Osuagwu told the court that his client had decided to withdraw the suit.

Justice Gummi then struck out the matter.

Speaking to newsmen after the judgment, counsel for the PDP, Chief Olusola Oke, said “we said it before and insist that this matter is purely an internal affair of the party.”

Counsel for President Jonathan, Chief Alex Iziyon, also commended the judiciary for “putting to rest the controversies on the matter.

He added that “the issue of who takes the slot for any political office is purely left for the parties.”

Meanwhile, the Senate, on Wednesday, said President Jonathan had no power to grant automatic ticket to members of the National Assembly.

Speaking against the backdrop of the story that President Jonathan had assured National Assembly members of automatic tickets during a meeting he had with them on Tuesday night, in order to secure their support, the Senate spokesman, Mr Ayogu Eze, said “he is not in a position to give us automatic ticket, he is not from my constituency.

“My return here is a function of my performance. Because the delegates that will elect me in my senatorial constituency are not from Bayelsa and they are not in Abuja here. So the president cannot promise you automatic ticket because it is not within his purview to do so.”

“He respects our independence, he has respect for the separation of powers and I want to commend the president publicly on behalf of the Senate that we are impressed with the level of encouragement he gave to the National Assembly,”he said.

In Fashola's dictionary, once he plants flowers everywhere, and ensure that only new vehicles ply lagos roads, then he has achieved. That is why people call him a governor for elites alone.

Why take out danfo buses? just get you bribe-collecting latsma guys to enforce road use rules.  let the VIO guys do their jobs too and ensure that only road-worthy(not necessarily new) vehicles ply the roads. Does fashola know how many families survive on the danfo buses?

yea, i drove to trade fair on saturday, and the truth is nothing is happening after mile 2. I suspect they are phasing the work to make the traffic situation manageble for motorist.

Looking at the terrain after mile 2 , i think the task of constructing portions after mile 2 might be easier. They will sure need to do some serious sandfilling between mile 2 and trade fair, because the bushy stretch behind festac looks mashy to me. Aside probably overhead bridges that need be constructed at major bus stops, I think the work there might be faster.
