I thank God for the gift of life and also thank God for always being God no matter what,He is really a great God. For those who have not gotten their visas pls be patient, cos God will do it. He doesn't have a bad plan for anyone, neither is He happy in anyone's sadness or put ill-luck on some while good luck on others, we are all the same to Him,so just wanna tell everyone to just know exactly who He is(a great God) and always does wondrous things(He never fails),always know His plans for u. Also wanna thank my mom for her support always,BigFrank (coachee), oga Ojap, oga Imperiouxx and everybody on d thread both the contributors n d viewers... Here is my EXPERIENCE:- VO: Good morning
ME: Good morning ma'am + Happy New month (passing her my documents)
VO: what did u say?
Me: I am wish u a happy new month ma'am
VO: Thank u (huge smile)
VO: What are u studying in the states
Me: Mass Communication
VO: Mentions the name of my school
Me: Yeah correct,n I mentioned the location
VO: Nods (smiling)
VO: How did u know about this school?
Me: I came across it in a Magazine called 'black collegean' so I made more research about the school on the internet
VO: Nods (smiling)
VO: Did u apply to any other school?
Me: Yeah, 3 schools n mentioned their names
VO: So why did u choose this?
Me: Well, its my 1st choice in all the schools I applied cos,I like their curriculum which involves lot of outdoor learning n that will help me acquire more advanced knowledge and I have been contacting a few of the professors and from our discussions I could deduce the school is d best for me
VO: Nods ,good
VO: Why would u do mass comm? (Keeps smiling)
Me: actually I have been working as a studio manager,so I have a basic legal understanding of studio editing n management,so I want to add on new skills so as to advance professionally here in Nigeria
VO: Nods,good
VO: Did u write any standardised test? SAT,TOEFL etc?
Me: Oh yeah,I did,do u like to see my score? Already opening bag.
VO: I believe that,never mind,good

VO: Have u travelled out of the country b4?
Me: Oh no
VO: Kept typing n returned my passport n said she is sorry she couldn't approve @ d moment. Note: Its my 2nd appearance at the US embassy in Abuja, I answered all the questions just like this in my previous interview but was a lil nervous n was anxious to pass document while she only demanded to see my sponsor's statement of account n I gave her, after which she denied me unlike this 2nd interview, I n the VO were smiling at each other all through and the conversation was so smooth, from what I noticed,I guess the VO denied me maybe because of the remarks of the 1st VO,I don't know n I'm not sure, but saying because it was a smooth chat n I at least 95% expected to get my visa yestday , also she didn't see any document from me yestday. SALUTE ALL!

Ricky Rozay: I'm not sure about this. Because my school needed #3.3million as First year tuition and my sponsor had #3.9million as the balance on the bank statement and the VO took her time to check my bank statement very well and checked the exchange rate on her glass screen to know if the funds is sufficient enough for my studies and I still got my Visa with it even with though it was even still a company's Bank statement.

So I guess that is not the cause of is denial. It is something else.....
Oh yeah,I feel u bro, but the transactions on the account also speaks so loud, Your sponsor may have 3.9 at that moment, but the VO looking at the previous transactions will be convinced that the account will generate more funds shortly, but in a situation whereby the transactions doesn't really show flow of enough cash it matters. The VO may be looking at it like they infliate the account with huge amount so as to get away. Also the sponsor is a salary earner, bro Kunsoft didn't state anywhere if he has any other bizness, so u can also imagine how long it takes to gather such amount n will he have to repeat the same proceedure yearly to finance his brother?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by onipedey(m): 6:03pm On Jul 24, 2013
Kunsoft: 6m + He did not border to check it.
Broda, to me,the VOs are still on the same account ish, sure 6m might cover ur tuition for a year, but VOs thinking about subsequent years, moreso the account has to finance undergraduate studies which is quite expensive n takes longer duration...

Should the bank statement be showing 6months transaction or it shouldn't be older than six month. Which one?
Should be showing 6months transaction, and should be pinted not earlier than 3months to your interview.

Blankcheque: I had my interview today in Abuja but it was inconclusive as I was handed a form 221(g) and the VO said they will contact me. Here is how it went: VO: hi, how are u? ME: Fine, tx VO:pls pass me ur doc me: passed them Vo: u re going to Texas for? Me: msc Vo: how did u find out about the school? Me: a professional colleague who earned a Phd from the school recommended to me and I also did some online research VO: OK! I could see u av some scholarship, who's paying for the rest? Me: my dad vo: can I av his bank statement? Me: gave it to her Vo: scrutinize d statement for about 30 secs, started typing then said I can't make a decision on ur application now. I will call u. Then retain the statement of account which has over 11M and my ds160 confirmation and gave me a form 221(g) on which she wrote we will contact you and returnd my passport and other documents. I later checkd online d implication of d form which I found out it was a 'soft' denial issued when a consular couldn't make a decision. My dillema now is: my schl resumes next month and since I couldnt tell when she will contact me, I need ur advice on what I shld do. Should I reapply now or wait until the embassy contacts me? Pls, gurus, I need all the help I can get. I Wait!
This is strange, but could it be that she wants to confirm the genuity of the account u presented? Pls gurus come talk, is it that VOs have a way of checking a bank account?

mr swagger: @onipedey, Thanks again for your response. The school informed me by mail last week Tuesday that my i-20 request form has been forwarded to the person that processes i-20s. And as soon as my package is ready to be picket up, they said they will mail me.

That was the mail I got from them when I sent my i-20 request form, hoping they will process the package within 2-3 days. Up till 1 week plus, I haven't heard from them.

I don't think they have processed the i-20 yet. But I will give TNT a phone call tomorow, to know if they have called the school to ask if my package is ready for shipment.

I think that's what I shud do next. I have to keep calling TNT, so that they shud follow it up with the school. I think that's the only option left for me for now.

Thnx all the same bro. God bless u..
U welcome broda, its a good decision but don't live TNT to it alone, follow up ur I-20 by sending mails n calls to d peeps in charge until they assure u its ready 4 pickup, don't get tired, remember d sooner d better, sevis still there for u to pay.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by onipedey(m): 9:54pm On Jun 10, 2013
mr swagger: @Onipedey, thanks bro for your response.

Actually I don't think the i-20 package is with TNT courier because I just went to TNT courier office last week friday for them to help me pick up the i-20 package. So it is still a little too early.

I actually called the school last week thursday and they were telling me to tell TNT courier to call them on phone first so they will get the i-20 package ready for them and send it out to them.

But what I don't quite undastand is that since 2 weeks ago I sent my i-20 request form to them for the school to get my i-20 processed but they haven't still processed it yet.

They have really delayed me... But I intend calling TNT tomorow again to track my i-20 package.
What I don't understand is, has your school processed your I-20 and is it ready for shipment? Because if TNT is not yet in possession of the I-20 then,I guess there is nothing to track with them yet until you are sure the document is in transit with the courier service. You should be speaking with your school to be sure your I-20 is ready as requested.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by onipedey(m): 9:03pm On Jun 10, 2013
mr swagger: @Paywole, How long did it take you to receive your i-20 package from Minnesota State University using TNT courier plus.

I intend using TNT courier plus as well to receive my i-20 package. I went to TNT courier office last week friday and I gave them my school's address. And I'm using the same procedure as yours (Pick up Service). They charged me #12,260 for their pick up service.

But I'm a little nervous that this is taking longer than expected because I'v NOT received my i-20 package from Minnesota State University, Mankato

My sponsor is worried because he has already given me the money to receive the i-20 package and I don't want him thinking that I have already spent the money on something else which is Not so.

Because the money is still intact in my Bank Account and I promised my sponsor my i-20 package will get to me within 5 days and this is more than 3 weeks since they gave me admission and I'v not received anythin yet. All thanks to this Eshipglobal of a company that don't accept credit card from Nigerians which delayed me.

I told my sponsor it will take 5 days to get the i-20 package because I actually thought the eshipglobal method would work out but it was impossible.

And I need to book an appointment at the Embassy this month. Because I need to go for my interview Next month JULY. Please house anyone with any possible solution or idea should pls help a bro here..

@Paywole pls respond to this post. I need to hear your candid opinion because you have used TNT before and also given admission to the same school with me.

Cheers guys..
Hey broda, maybe u should contact d school 1st to know maybe ur I-20 has been picked already,if it has been picked then all ur worries should be on TNT to deliver safely n quick to u. Maybe u should have checked with fedex for same service cos I believe they would handle documents better, as TNT deal majorly with heavy luggage(courier). But 1st,know where your I-20 is,whether school or already in transit to u...

Smalltownboy: Hey House, Been following this thread since last year and the suggestions and contributions have been really helpful.

I had my interview today and thought I share the experience with the house.

V.O: Have you ever been out of Nigeria

Me: No, but I have a UK visa

V.O: The question was have you ever been out of Nigeria

Me: No (I'm already sensing the guy has an attitude)

V.O: What you going to study?

Me: I'm going to do a graduate programme in ****

V.O: Why did you choose this School?

I begin to blab on how I'm a professional and in my area of practice I have come across several people who studied there and all

V.O: So you chose the school because you have friends there?

Me: No

V.O: So the school was recommended to you by professional colleagues.

Me: Yes

V.O: Did you apply to other schools

Me: Yes, I applied to several other schools and I begin to name them( The truth is I applied to only this school)

V.O: So what happened?

Me: I got accepted in this school

V.O: Can I see your transcripts

Me: I don't have my transcripts because they are sent directly to the school.

V.O: I have been in this job for a while and interview students and they have transcripts. They usually request for a personal copy

Me: Well, I didn't apply for a personal copy.

V.O: Did you write any standardise test?

Me: No, because it wasn't a requirement for the programme I want to attend.

V.O: What exactly do you do in Nigeria?

Me: Well, I'm a legal practitioner and I provide legal advisory services to clients on a wide range of issues. I even have a letter of introduction from my office and my a copy of my profile on the firm's website

(Note, he doesn't take this documents from me or even looks at them)

V.O: That appears really vague. What exactly do you do there?

Me: (At this point, I'm feeling I won't get the visa because I have really messed up, but I brace up and give it one last shot) I'm currently advising a Foreign IOC on the divestment of its interest in Nigeria. I have also advised a number of indigenous oil companies on acquisition of marginal oil fields as well as OMLs in Nigeria. An OML is an Oil Mining Lease.

V.O: Ok, so who will be sponsoring your studies?

Me: My Dad has been gracious enough to say he will sponsor me.

V.O: What does he do?

Me: He is into private business now since he retired from Government.

V.O: What did he use to do?

Me: (I tell him)

V:O: (Now seems interested), what state was he in?

Me: (I tell him)

V.O: (Completely out of the blues) You applied for a Diversity Visa earlier this year?

Me: Excuse me?

V.O: I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. I can see your picture here

Me: (Now losing my cool and raising my voice) I DID not apply for a Diversity visa and I have never done that. I have never even applied for a US Visitor's visa. I have a good job in Nigeria that pays my bills...

V.O sadInterrupts me) That will be all. You can pick up your passport with your visa on Tuesday.

Please note that the V:O didn't check my account statement or letter of introduction from the office and the several other documents I had with me.

I left the Embassy with mixed emotions and I still get upset whenever I think of the Interview. All in All, I give God the glory.
Good God + Mercy is all we need. Congrats!

Filling another DS160 has nothing to do with your booked appointment date. Go to DS160 webpage https://ceac.state.gov/GENNIV. Select your location, then on the lower right corner of your screen, click on "retrieve an application"(if you opt for "retrieve an application", you won't have to start filling-in your information from scratch on the DS160 i.e. Some of your information on your previous DS160 will be carried-over to the new DS160). You'll be required to enter your old application id which is also same as your confirmation number, some security questions would also be asked. After answering the security question and clicking on "retrieve application", you'll have an option to "view confirmation page" OR "create a new application". Select "create a new application" and click "continue" so you can carry on from there...Note that another DS160 confirmation number will be generated. Go to the appointment booking site: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-appointmentschedule.asp log into your profile, on the left pane on your screen click on "update profile" and change your DS160 confirmation number to the new one. You will notice in your profile that your appointment date is fixed except you decide to reschedule. I wish you all the best in your interview.
Bro,pls wen the new DS 160 confirmation number is updated on the appointment profile, how will someone get the new number on the already printed appointment confirmation page? Thanks
