@okunoba

Like I said before, I am more interested in seeing pictures of good roads and other development projects in SW than see pictures of dirt and slums in East. This thread is not a "pull him down" thread.
Again your dude doesn't even know that Akwa Ibom is in the East, and he attacked me first.

Thank you.  cool

@ lagcity

I'll tell you a little joke/anecdote.

A man in a village in Eastern Nigeria decided to pick a nickname. He chose to be called "umunna na eme" meaning "my kinsmen are dealing with me" or "my kinsmen are responsible for all my problems".
So, after a while, his kinsmen got upset and decided to file a case with the Igwe of the town.
After all the facts have been presented, it turned out that the reverse is actually the case -the man has been dealing with his kinsmen all along! grin grin .
So he was prevailed upon to drop his nickname.  cool

This thread may actually prove the opposite; but how can we know if all the facts aren't presented and examined?
I hope you get the gist of this anecdote.

Thanks for the pics! Please post more.  cool
You may not know this, but a lot of folks here don't know that Kwara has good roads.
This is what this thread is all about.

this brings me the issue of enugu.is there any other developement going on in nsukka,awgu, igboeze and other places in the state apart from enugu city?
Your guess is as good as mine, frankly. I wish that someone from Enugu can tell us more about what is going on.
I only ranked Enugu among progressive Eastern states because of Enugu city. That is fine, but of course we always hope for more. A state has to have at least ONE THING going for it to be ranked as progressive (IMHO).
There is no state in Nigeria that has EVERYTHING going for it. That is why Nigeria is still a developing country.
Not bad. We will get there.
PoliticsRe: Onitsha River Port Ready By October by Onlytruth(m): 11:03pm On Oct 06, 2011
Chino,

I really think it would help a lot if you post pictures of Awka and other places where you visit regularly in Anambra to help us share in your story. Pictures speak a thousand words.
You live there, so the logical thing to do is take pictures YOURSELF and post it here. Simple.

are you talking about people based in anambra?

another issue anambra faces sadly it this issue of erosion?just finishe watching an erosion seige in ideani in idemili council on a road that connects ideani with ojoto,nkpor and onitsha, although i saw obi theretelling his commisioner of works to start worrk there to save the road from being cut into two
Yes I'm talking to people in Anambra (Onitsha and Nnewi specifically).
Peter Obi is also dealing with the erosion menace.
An irresponsible governor would be polishing Awka the capital alone. Obi is handling every part of the state.
Folks in Nnewi are most critical of him because they believe he is punishing them for voting for Ngige. I don't believe that one bit. I am a trained professional in development and I know that sometimes, you have to stick to a program of action to succeed. I think that Obi will get to those parts by next year. Anambra is not producing oil or gas yet.
But we will soon. Most importantly, he is not accumulating debts. If he succeeds in only attracting huge private investors and keeping the state debt free, he would have achieved a lot, and the next governor will have an easier job.

@asha 80
About the structural plan.
I think that the new structural plan (including the Anam new city) will play a critical role going forward. Sometimes I understand what Peter Obi is trying to do. He is juggling a few priorities being that Anambra is developing a new Capital and other two major towns, while at the same time trying to open up the rural areas with roads. Everyone I've spoken to confirms the same thing.
Anambra is one of those states that will explode overnight one of these days because things are being put in place gradually but steadily. That is why I counted it among the progressive Eastern states. I am one of the harshest critics of Peter Obi, but that does not mean that I cannot see what he is doing.

If you know that dog call him to order. I don't know him from Adam and I don't know why he is developing a heart attack just because I decided to look at Eastern Nigerian progress.

@asha 80

I think Capital Oil said they plan a huge tank farm in Anambra. Unless I'm wrong.

For the rest of the dumb a55es on this thread, this topic is about the 1960 - 1966 regions of Nigeria.
This is to see how far they've developed and how fast they are developing in the current Nigerian arrangement.
Nobody is changing anything; but I know that Cross river, Akwa Ibom, River and Bayelsa share proximity (hence economic future) with SE. Even in politics, we still operate as East in deed.
Now that I've clarified this, anyone not smart enough to understand it should pass by. cool

          Re: Eastern Nigeria Is Gradually Opening Up A Huge Lead In Development

So why the sudden talk about Akwa Ibom?  Have you disowned the East all of a sudden? You've got to take the good and the bad little man.
Now I'm convinced that you are a rabid dog and a dumb a55.
So, you don't know that Akwa Ibom was in the Eastern Region of Nigeria?
In fact it is STILL in the East geographically; more East than even the SE states!
Goat go and pick up your Atlas! (not Google map cos you can't read it).
PoliticsRe: Eastern Nigeria Is Gradually Opening Up A Huge Lead In Development by Onlytruth(op): 9:56pm On Oct 06, 2011
@Roadstar,

Obviously only a fool will not know that Anambra state leads Eastern Nigeria in many development spheres. If you believe otherwise, more power to you.
I don't live in Awka, so you will not get those pictures from me. The state is steadily making investments that will pay huge dividends soon: LG electronics factory, SAB, Onitsha port, Innoson and Capital Oil, Anam New City, Agriculture at Anaku and Omor, Orient Oil and Gas, to mention but a few. If Anambra is allowed to develop their gas economy, it will dwarf any in Nigeria. With the best human resources in Nigeria, Anambra is unrivaled. Peter Obi may not be building monorails, but he is not raking up huge debts either. He understands that only oil producing states can afford to borrow like that.

So bite me!  cool

@ Goat nolongTing

This is an internet forum, where people come to chat when they have the time (like now I have time), so I'm here chatting away. It DOES NOT PAY ME A DIME. So why should I care about my typos here?
Dude, you really have the world upside down. undecided
And if I correct the typo, does that make me less intelligent than you?

Frankly, some of you Yoruba folks have your priorities warped up. undecided

Why is it that some Yoruba members of Nairaland just can't discuss normally (they are basically dogs) ? This thread is about posting facts about the 1960s regions today, how they've turned out.
Why do idiots like nolongTing foam in the mouth anytime topics of Eastern Nigeria progress are raised? Why can't they simply post what the rest of us don't know about THEIR OWN region, instead of attacking the EAST?
Well, the reason is simple. THEY ARE NOT PROUD OF WHAT THEY HAVE TO SHOW.
Shikena. cool

Ileke-Idi,

Eastern Nigeria is a friendly region. We protect residents no matter where they come from. All is free to do legitimate business, from Enugu to PH to Calabar to Yenagoa to Owerri and Onitsha. And when they complete the deep port at Ibaka, it will get really busy.
We are about to boom. ALL IS WELCOME. cool

Notice that I did not mention states I consider controversial, either because of lack of performance by their governors (in my opinion), or those whose development I cannot verify. I could be wrong about some of them, hence if they have information to the contrary, they should post it here.

I don't intend to post much.  cool
