I'll say it again, do I need an Igbo dictionary to prove my point about Igbo language? HECK NO. ![]() So, once someone pulled Ibani dictionary to start proving an Ijaw word, I smell I big rat. ![]() |
^^ If I must spell it out to you like a kindergarten kid, I meant that majority of his folks are PDP and ACN THIEVES who don't represent the interest of their people. Again, the man was only talking about a negotiated Nigeria where EVERYTHING including separation must be on the table. Nigeria's unity is very negotiable. Only thieves feeding fat on the system shiit their pants anytime the system is questioned. ![]() |
I smell a rat once someone starts referring to a language dictionary to support his case. ![]() |
^^ It is deja vu all over again. ![]() |
We can't continue this culture of "nkita tachaa okpukpu, eze egbube ewu" (the dog will eat the bone, but the goat must suffer the toothache ). |
hehehe! Good one. . . more to follow. ![]() |
^^ Are you a Nigerian? |
^^ Yes it is an oil producing state but I don't think that is the point. The point is that this state is very much holding its own in terms of development. I once thought that Owerri was the most beautiful SE city. I don't know about now. I used to be in love with "Aladimma Estate". ![]() |
For as long as a character like Murtala Muhammed continues to grace Nigerian sacred items, the country would remain a joke and a laughing stock among serious nations of this world. ![]() He was a terrible soldier, a coward (because he contemplated secession for fear of possible Igbo reprisals for the mass murder of Igbo soldiers during and after the counter-coup), and a worse coward for killing thousands of unarmed men and boys execution style at Asaba; the man deserves to be posthumously sent to the Hague. ![]() |
Posted by: kasiem If we're to genuinely uphold this ficititious assertion of "one nigeria", a man like MM should be subjected to the status of a tribal lord. Immortalising the i.diot, that led the foundation of and invented the lexis of seccession in political milieu of nigeria, is somehow making a jest of the "one nigeria". I wouldn't say that should not be immortalized, but, that should be at a sectional level. Immortalizing a man insinuates being proud of his antecedents, and that sine dai signals to the rest of the world that the opinion of the igbos are not needed in the imaginative and fallacious project of "one nigeria". If there's need to celebrate MM, then, people like ojukwu , saro wiwa, henry okah et al should have a place in the good books of nigeria. Please never group a great leader, a visionary and soldier like Ojukwu with all these folks. The great Ikemba belong to a different class of heroes: those who saw the future calamity, fought tooth and nail to avert it, failed, and lived to see his own vindication. There are no two of such men in Nigerian history. ![]() |
In fact I boldly say that if 10% of Yoruba leaders are like this man, Nigeria will get that National Conference soon enough. But I'm afraid he is a minority, inspite of all the noise from his folks on nairaland. |
^^ Irrespective of these two idiots above me here yarning trash, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has earned my personal respect through the years with talks like this. You see, the question of telling us that the unity of this country is not negotiable boils out of nonsense! There is nothing more negotiable than the unity of this country and anybody who is in doubt of that, recent events have come to confirm that. ![]() |
^^ The problem is that most of those "world class" things never get built in Nigeria. Just show me one anywhere in Nigeria. ![]() |
I think the OP needs to add that Peter Obi's zero debt policy is not necessarily that the state would not borrow at all , but that every project implemented with borrowed money must repay the debt directly. He frowned at what he called "social debt", eg, borrow to fix roads. He may be persuaded to borrow to build a refinery (my views), or to invest in top private companies. I don't see Obi borrowing to build a flyover or a bridge because he is already building those things without borrowing. ![]() |
@Obiagu1 Your points are clear enough to me. Don't expect Nigerians to understand it though. They are used to megalomania. As long as their governor throws around scam words like "world class", "largest in Africa", "first in the world", they would fall for any borrowing. That is what folks like ekt_bear forgets about Nigeria. Peter Obi said that every project that is implemented with borrowed money must pay for itself. Simple and short. He didn' t say the project should pay indirectly (spin off effect), NO. He said DIRECTLY. If the state borrows for a power plant for instance, that plant must pay it back; nothing more or less. It is a very sensible and prudent policy; but some Nigerians are not used to it. |
Let me say this early enough. Nnaji must keep this job for at least 7 years for his plans to become irreversible. This is part of why power must stay in the South for at least 12 more years. The damage would take time to fix. These are damages rendered over a 40 year period. I don't want tomorrow they'll bring another "world class engineer" (paper engineers) to come and set us back again. |
Posted by: Beaf ^hehehe! Beaf you no go kill me abeg. ![]() I hear you bro. The fact is that Nigerians have become warped in thinking with the "kill and go" men having held sway for far too long. So, they would need time to adjust to the civil and decent style of leadership. Good job GEJ! ![]() |
Posted by: Chyz* Is the place called Ose-nku or ogbe ijaw ose-nku?It was/is called either "Ose Ogbe Ijo" or "Ose nku", not both. The reason is because both fish and firewood are sold in this market. The Ijaw supplied much of the fish while others supplied the chopped firewood. Ose is at the bank of the Niger, a stone throw from the Main market. It is older than Main Market of course. |
Posted by: Relax101 According to the Chairman of Nde-Nde Market Traders Association, Ose Ogbe Ijaw, Onitsha , Chief Sunny Nwagwu, the recent shoot-out was as a result of the incessant attacks on them by the suspected hoodlums.I grew up in Onitsha and so I can discuss this. The whole truth is that the Ijaw was almost Igbo and interacted normally with us along the river Niger banks. Ijaw men supplied most of the fresh fish at Ose Nku in Onitsha. If you had ever gone to Ose to buy "azu ndu" (fresh fish), there is a good chance that the seller was Ijaw. We knew they were Ijaw, but they conversed in Igbo of course. We even ascribed legendary swimming proficiency to Ijaws then, none of which was substantiated of course. We used to hear tales that Ijaws would throw their babies (infants) into the river and leave it there to swim. If the child survived, then they took it home; if not, they simply assumed he wasn't supposed to live anyway. Legend of course. So, yes, there is "Ogbe Ijaw" at Ose Nku in Onitsha. They lived on boats though. |
Ileke-Idi, Is there a river in Ekiti, and does it in anyway join one of the tributaries of the River Niger? If so, make I come with my canoe, come kidnap you dia take go East. ![]() |
Posted by: Obiagu1 It's funny how some people are more concerned about their comment that power must return to the East than the threat the group pose to peace.LOL. I noticed the same too. Pathetic people. ![]() Fact is that as you guessed, those guys are likely from Southern KD; and yes they know which group in the South can stand with them on the day of evil. They are no fools. |
^^ Did you mean 29 years? |
Great job GEJ! God bless the spirit of Umaru Musa Yar adua as well. He had his weaknesses, but he had his strengths too. This project has his name on it too. GEJ is about to open up the East for business. ![]() |
^^ hehehe! |
aribisala0 I suspect you have a separate issue with the LEGAL state boundaries as it pertains to this area. I really think that this is the wrong thread to raise that. Every map of Nigeria that we all know show that Ogun state has a "OCEAN" coastline. If you have facts to the contrary, please open a separate thread and invite folks from that area to iron it out, and probably make a case to the Surveyor General of the federation. |
ndu_chucks, I know you are of the primitive type from Nigeria and have never dropped your dictatorial tendencies even where ever the hell you are hiding now; so you wouldn't understand that the Nigerian constitution guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of political opinion and views. The US constitution even protects them more. It is thieves and mass murderers in Nigeria like you that must be dragged to jail and The Hague. Olodo. BTW I'm continuing in my prayer that God maintains constant heat on Nigeria until it either disintegrates or fixes up for the good of Nigerian children. And methinks he is answering that prayer handsomely. ![]() |
^^ Thank you ShangoThor the great! ![]() |
Every criminal in Nigeria belongs in jail, starting with those who wasted 40 years of a nation. Those responsible for driving Nigerians away from their own country to foreign countries. Those who are CURRENTLY sponsoring Boko Haram, and all the anti-Christian riots in Northern Nigeria. Those who stole our future and that of our children. They are all responsible for mass murder. They all belong in jail. . with their side-kicks, ELSE, God is only beginning to warm up. By the time GOD is done with Nigeria, nothing would be the same again. ![]() |
Note that the dotted lines - - - - are the state boundaries. |
@aribisala Take a close look at this map of the atlantic coastline, you would see that Ondo is to the right, Ogun to the middle and Lagos to the left. Unless the map is wrong, which I doubt.
|
I am always in support of anybody (even if only in spirit) that is trying to reduce the unbridled powers of the Hausa/Fulani in Nigeria. They have ruined a potential great nation. God speed 'Akhwat Akwop' ![]() |
