PoliticsRe: Which State Is Least Known In Nigeria? Jigawa? by Onlytruth(m): 7:54pm On Oct 10, 2011
I laugh when I see folks trying to piggyback on the regional influence of Lagos to claim popularity ahead of Anambra.
Minus Lagos (which a lot of folks still mistake for a state in SW), I don't see any SW state more popular than Anambra state.
What informs my position?
Well, by popularity I mean places that people go to for one thing or the other; eg business.
Since people don't do much of tourism tour in Nigeria (due to crime and lack of electricity), I have to stick to business migration; 'cos folks would do business no matter what (it is a survival thing  undecided).
I know that Onitsha and Nnewi attract more business people from Nigeria and Africa than any SW cities (minus Lagos of course). If you are from outside Nigeria, and you mention cities to non-Nigerians, chances are that they would recognize Onitsha and Nnewi more, (because of business).

The ONE thing that masks this fact is that Igbos are not into noticing, harassing or brooding over non-igbo in their midst.
Most are busy hustling and don't care whether the next guy is from Mars.
Okada riders in Nnewi these days don't even speak Igbo, and I HATE THAT. angry

So, my take is that apart from Lagos, and maybe Kano (city, not the state), there is no other state more popular than Anambra.  QUOTE ME ON THAT.  cool

You need to go there and look properly.
PoliticsRe: South East Govs Demand For 2 Additional States by Onlytruth(m): 4:48pm On Oct 10, 2011
This issue won't go away until it is resolved. I really think that the Ndigbo want the geopolitical zones to have equal number of states. I don't think they care about the number of states in each zone; just let it be equal. For those who want to be honest, the reason is self evident.
If not for the GEJ presidency, Ndigbo, (thanks to Obasanjo's evil plans) would not be among the top 6 political positions in Nigeria. But the God of Igbos intervened on time, and turned the table on Obasanjo and his folks who ended up falling into the same pit they dug for Ndigbo. They are crying marginalization today. undecided

Also, Ndigbo may not necessarily want an "Igbo only" geopolitical zone. However I am sure that we would only want to share a zone with groups who are confident of working with us and not start accusing us of things later.

So, the governors are very much on track, and have the support of people from the zone.  cool
Ideally, this is a purely political problem that needs a political solution.
Anyone who thinks that Ndigbo would continue to be cheated in Nigeria is gravely mistaken.  cool

So if you know then stop tracing my ethnic group because it has nothing to do with any discussion and yes I know all what I have written about myself here.
Your type is one of the biggest problems in Nigeria. You think because you are mixed with every group in Nigeria, that Nigeria must remain one. You are selfish because more Nigerians die each year for being of a SPECIFIC tribe, than being of mixed tribe. I've seen your type all over nairaland trying to thwart the will of the majority who are clear of where they are from in Nigeria.
I am sure that no matter how long it takes, a typical Igbo man would NEVER dance and rejoice over the death of innocent children and women, NO MATTER HOW ANGRY HE MAY BE. He may say "I told you so" or "Good morning", but never dance and boast that "they will kill you more than we killed you before". That, to me, is a FUNDAMENTAL difference in values and spirit. It clearly shows that we are of difference RACES, not even different tribes.

So, stop trying to add to our problems by muddling the waters. I have more in common with a Cameroonian, than a Yoruba.  cool

Christianity EtcRe: Why Did God Put The Tree Of Good And Evil In The Garden Of Eden? by Onlytruth(m): 7:29pm On Oct 09, 2011
The biggest mistake I see repeatedly in atheist and similar views is that of approaching the Bible and God from a logical  and "scientific" perspective. I wonder how anyone can explain juju, but ironically some of African so called atheists dare not question the powers of juju. LOL. grin

Some of these same folks would believe in U.F.Os and their abilities to travel at speeds unknown to any science.
Only recently, I read somewhere about how the UFOs could be travelling between stars in split seconds; they could posses the "technology" that "folds" inter-galactic spaces. In order words, they could fold space like paper! grin
These atheists find it easier to believe that, than a God.

Well, from my life experience, I know that God does not care much whether we believe he exists or not.
He is more interested in his own agenda for his creation. He is not a democrat.
That is why this quote exist in the Bible:

John 6:65 He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."

For one to really believe in God, that person MUST have a PERSONAL encounter with God. And the encounter must be at God's time. God even encounters those who never sought after him for a day. It all depends on whether the person fits into Gods overall agenda for his Earth. So, in other words, it is possible that most atheists are irrelevant to God's agenda.  cool
He may also snag a few of them whenever he wants. And those go on to become big pastors and fishers of men for God. FACT.

So, don't sweat trying to figure out this topic. It ain't man made science.

So, ndu_chucks, I think you should head to the National Assembly and pull strings to either ban daggers, or legalize concealed guns.
I am in full support of daggers and guns.  cool

Else, you would be wasting your time trying to woo me away from my belief that Nigeria makes no damn sense.
PoliticsRe: Cattle Sellers Clash With The Lagos Task Force by Onlytruth(m): 3:30am On Oct 09, 2011
@House,

I am actually echoing this same points below:

Quote from: Dede1
Federal government should ban the carry of dagger. The ban for concealed weapon such as dagger would have been promulgated if act of carrying dagger was a social or cultural thing in the southern Nigeria. I intend to carry concealed pistol in Nigeria if a person from one section of damnable country is allowed to carry concealed dagger.
I'm actually thinking about this nonsense(carrying of daggers)  for the very first time.
It is possible that daggers kill more people in Nigeria than any other weapon.
So why are they not outlawed, if carrying conceal guns is illegal?
You see, these are some of the things that make no sense at all in Nigeria.
If I start to call for Biafra now, ya'all would start calling me names (@ndu_chucks grin )

You might want to sell this silly story to nollywood.

Anyways, all that silly crap aside, the fact is, 50,000 ibo people were slaughtered by the same blood thirsty savages you are siting here supporting.

I believe that because the only thing that saved my family in Sabon Gari Kano in 1966 was my fathers little arms cache.

They are constituting some minimum but big prob we are having with the proposed Anioma state. Imagine, if Anioma was to join the SE, this whole "we are not Igbo" would embarrass the SE It would be a tug of war in a way cause by a few knucleheads. This is why you dont hear the SE governments fighting for an Anioma state. They dont want a possible disunity amongst the SE.
You are right. Imagine having an "agbotaen" in Anioma.
It would destroy our chances of getting our brothers back to SE.
In any case, I still support their move to join Anioma. We can always excise the "agbontaens" to Edo State before Igbanke joins Anioma.  cool

Okay, I've watched the video and here are my conclusions:

(1) Gov T. A Orji failed to show a logical connection between the N18,000 minimum wage and the disengagement of non-indegenes.

(2) He is an intelligent man who articulates his points well, though he may only fool the gullible.

(3) He deployed the old trick in the book of political never-do-wells of history - putting on the Abia "patriotic" garb to woo Abians towards his objectives. He tries to appear statesmanlike, but is really self serving. All tyrants and despots in history used the same trick.

Overall, here is my advise to Gov Orji (about his "everybody is against Abian" gambit)
:
Ndigbo say that "Ebe nwata na ebe akwa na aru aka, nne anoghi ebe ahu, nna ya no ya" (whatever direction a child is pointing while crying, if the child's father is not there, his/her mother must be there!).
All these bad news coming out of Abia under your term of governorship must have a reason.
You can blame everybody as much as you like. It would pay Abians more if you actually work for them, than seeking cheap blackmail of others.

Elechi condemns Abia govt over sack of non-natives

From GODDY OSUJI, Abakaliki
Friday October 07, 2011

Disengagement of non-natives from Abia State Civil Service, by the Abia State Government has been described as a move capable of creating disunity amongst Ndigbo . This was the view of Governor Martin Elechi, who said his government was yet to be communicated officially on such proposition, adding that he would at this stage consider it as mere rumour, except proven otherwise in due course.

The governor, who spoke through the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Chike Onwe stated that the issue was still based on rumours, but, however, explained that if implemented, would not only threaten the corporate existence of Ndigbo but also, the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“Disengaging people from service on account of place of origin is backward thinking. But as I said, it is still on the plains of rumour and we don’t react to rumours but to substance. “For now, it is not true, until it is true, the issue will be addressed. I think Ndigbo is a united people and we shall not allow anything to disintegrate this unity but I think it will be unfortunate if such a thing happens it has not happened, it is still on the plains of rumours and until it is made real we will not take any official stand or action”

He stressed the state government would not be part and parcel of any process that would cause disaffection among citizens because of issue bordering on indigenization. He added that non-indigenes in the state were gainfully occupying sensitive position in the state, even among the state executive council members.

“Since we talking about true federalism and we cannot achieve such by being sectional or calling some indigenes and some others non-natives. So for us to achieve true federalism, we must get people to feel at home wherever they are. We are looking at a situation where an individual from Kaduna comes to Ebonyi State and stand for any election and the man from Ebonyi goes to Lagos stands election get elected and serve his term. That’s where we are aspiring to.

“The position of Abia State Government is yet to be made available to the Ebonyi State Government but as I said, it is still on the plains of rumour but if that turns out to be true, the matter will be looked at collectively by the state executive council.

N101 billion fraud
EFCC arrests Akala, Daniel, Doma

From MURPHY GANAGANA, Abuja and MOSHOOD ADEBAYO, Abeokuta
Friday October 07, 2011

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday arrested former governors Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, Gbenga Daniel, Ogun State, and Aliyu Akwe-Doma Nasarawa State over alleged misappropriation of public funds totaling N101 billion, while in office.
Daily Sun gathered that the former governors have been moved to Abuja, where they will face gruelling interrogation by EFCC operatives.

Daniel, who was picked in Lagos at about 12.05 p.m, is expected to explain how he expended a sum of N58 billion being funds allegedly meant for various projects in Ogun State while Alao-Akala would give account of how he expended N25 billion in Oyo State. In the same vein, Aliyu Doma who was arrested in Lafia, the state capital, is being held for allegedly misappropriating the sum of N18 billion during his four-year tenure.

Details of how the alleged fraud was committed could not be ascertained as at press time, but dependable sources hinted that the trio would spend the weekend in EFCC custody. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), it was also learnt, had issued prosecutorial fiat to the anti- graft agency for trial of the ex-governors. The former governors might be arraigned next week as the charges against them are said to be ready.
EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the development when contacted, but declined to give details.

Daily Sun gathered that while officials of the anti-graft agency easily arrested Alao-Akala and Doma in Ibadan and Lafia respectively, there was a mild drama in Daniel’s encounter with the EFCC. Officials of the agency had stormed the Sagamu home of Daniel, where they were told that he had left for Lagos. Apparently acting on a tip-off that EFCC operatives were on his trail, Daniel, who was at the pan-Yoruba meeting at the Ikenne country home of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, hurriedly left the venue of the meeting. When the news of the presence of EFCC’s agents in Daniel’s home filtered into the venue of the meeting, it took the dexterity of the organizers of the Yoruba meeting to continue.

In a bid to avoid being apprehended physically, drove to the Lagos office of the EFCC on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and turned himself in. Hours after their arrest, Daniel and Alao-Akala were taken to Abuja through the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos. Daniel’s media aide, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo. confirmed his boss’ arrest, which he said was prompted by avalanche of petitions the agency received against him.
His words: “Today, agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), visited the Sagamu home of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun State. When they got there, Otunba Daniel was at the pan-Yoruba summit in Ikenne.

“On learning of their presence in Sagamu, Otunba Daniel left Ikenne to join them after which he was taken away by the anti-graft agency ostensibly to continue investigation into the petitions it had received against the former governor,” Adebanjo said. He, however, stated that it “is important to state that prior to their visit Otunba Daniel had not been invited to answer any question. Also nothing incriminating has been found or brought to his notice by officials of the EFCC prior to their visit to his house (yesterday).“Indeed, when the speculation became rife that he may be invited for questioning, a scheduled trip abroad by the former governor was put on hold in order for him to be available to answer the summons of the EFCC.

“Otunba Daniel, as a law-abiding citizen, expects the agency to follow the due process in the current situation.“He remains confident that he would be vindicated as the petitions written against him and which may have formed the basis of his invitation by the EFCC are politically motivated. We believe that at the end of the day the truth will prevail,” he added. However, media aide to ex-Oyo governor, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a statement denied the arrest of his boss by the EFCC saying; “To the best of my knowledge, Alao Akala was billed to attend the pan-Yoruba conference at Ikenne this morning to which he and other Yoruba leaders have been invited. As I am communicating with you now, the former governor is on his way to Abuja on the invitation of EFCC. He was never arrested as he left to honour the invitation on his own as a law-abiding citizen.”

But reacting to the arrest of his predecessor, Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, through his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said that in as much as the government does not want to gloat over the development, its only interest is that the law should take its course.“Though the arrest is a vindication of our earlier allegation of the predatory clean-up of the state’s patrimony for four years by the Alao-Akala government, the present government does not want to gloat over the fate of the former governor. We only enjoin both the EFCC and the judiciary to allow justice to be done.”

In a related development, EFCC operatives are also said to be on the trail of the former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje and his Imo State counterpart, Ikedi Ohakim.
