Beaf:Why can't we do that today? Well, the answer is because of the very same problems that will manifest then -people denying their ethnic group just to hoodwink the rest of us! We have that already in Nigeria, which is why Ohanaeze pressed hard for ethnicity to be included in the census forms, an idea which was rejected by Obasanjo. So that can only happen AFTER Nigeria disintegrates. I don't see it happening under one Nigeria. The system is a cesspit. |
Andre Uweh:That babe will ultimately play a role in politics and leadership one of these days. She is so intelligent and maintain nerves of steal in the face of challenges. I only hope bro Jona no dey eye am o! Anyway, Patience dey mark am closely! hehehe! ![]() |
Say whatever you like, bro Jona is leading well. The man has his head on his shoulders! ![]() |
Bianca, Ojukwu’s wife, pays tribute to Jonathan London—Bianca, the wife of Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a great leader. Bianca made the remarks when she received a goodwill message on behalf of her husband from Jonathan’s special envoy and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong, on Sunday in a London hospital where he is receiving treatment. Bianca, who expressed gratitude for the message, said: “It is a sign of a great leader with a great deal of empathy not just for a single individual but for the people he seeks to lead. “It is very rare indeed. I am privileged to receive on behalf of his family and his party, APGA, from the president and the people of Nigeria such a goodwill message. “We remain immensely grateful, God Bless you all,’’ the Europe correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes Bianca as saying. She recalled that before Ojukwu was flown abroad, the president had visited him in his residence to pay respect and wished him quick recovery. Similarly, she added, in August last year, Jonathan also sent an emissary to convey his best wishes and hopes for a quick recovery when Ojukwu was undergoing medical tests in the U.S. Bianca also expressed gratitude to Mr Dozie Nwanna, Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner to the U.K for his support. Earlier, Hong said Ojukwu was one of the very eminent persons who Nigerians were proud of, adding that his state of health was very paramount to Jonathan, hence the need for the visit. “Mr President feels very concerned and he wanted to know the actual state of his health and how he is doing and to also show empathy and concern about his health, so for that reason, he specifically asked me to come. “If only you know how I was conscripted very urgently for this purpose, you will know the importance which Mr president attaches to his health,” the minister said. “I have seen him, let me speak as a doctor now, he is under proper care and doing well. “I think by every standard, one will say he is in the best of hands, I wish him quick recovery,” Hong said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/01/bianca-ojukwus-wife-pays-tribute-to-jonathan/ |
udezue:Someone has already mentioned the fact that ND or Ijaw agitations will never be taken seriously until Igbos are involved. I leave it at that. Ijaws need to use their heads. As for joining with the Hausa against Yoruba, it depends on what the Yorubas do. If they want to replay their treachery against the East, anything is possible. That is why it is in Nigeria's collective interest that there is a negotiated peace in that country, not a forced peace or one obtained through backstabbing and treachery. Only foreigners gain in a waring Nigeria. A word is enough for the wise. |
Ileke-IdI:You can say anything you want just don't pretend you are fair minded. Scintillating ko Scimitar ni! ![]() |
careytommy:I know you know that most Igbos are not like that, which is part of why you are a Biafra apologist. |
alj harem1:What did you go through that 2 million Easterners didn't experience 100 times? ![]() WTF are you even talking about? |
Ileke-IdI:Because he is anti-Jonathan or what? You are not making sense. ![]() The man was off point about Jonathan's letter to Ojukwu. Press people always get their hands on things like this, afterall the letter was sent to the Nigerian High Commission in London. I don't believe that Jonathan sent a copy to the press. |
mikeansy:Though I would agree that there is some politics going on, I totally disagree with other aspects of your point. ![]() Jonathan has followed Ojukwu's health situation closely from the last time he visited Ojukwu in his Enugu residence. Incidentally the great lion of Biafra had stroke a few days later. Even while frantic efforts were being made to transport him overseas, Jonathan kept in constant touch, calling his family and following up. Therefore this letter did not fall out of the skies. The man is only continuing with what he started. I won't even be surprised if Jonathan and the FG is directly involved in taking care of Ojukwu's medical expenses either. There is only one Ojukwu in Nigeria. Even his worst foes in Nigeria respect him and see him as one of the last titans in Nigeria. Just my thoughts. |
udezue:LOL! ![]() |
You say you are remotely Igbo; why do you have this quote on your profile: i am the new igwe of igboland bleep ojukwu How many colors do you have on a normal day? No Igbo or even Easterner or friend of Igbo will say that. You see why people laugh when you say you are Igbo? |
alj harem1:Thank you. I like his type of mature and sensible politics. Jonathan will do something when he is elected, don't worry about that. He is already doing something. He is probably trying to ensure that he gets the credit for the power supply plans he initiated already. He wouldn't want another dude to come in and claim his works. |
alj harem1:I'm fine. What are your latest schemes? What do you think about Jonathan's letter to Ojukwu? The man knows his true base; don't you think? The West has Obasanjo. The North has IBB and Buhari. The East has Ojukwu! ![]() |
alj harem1:Information is that he is recovering and should return better than he left. Good enough for me. |
The great lion is missing in action. But dis my bros Jonathan sabi politics well well! ![]() Don't write him off I swear! ![]() |
President writes Ojukwu By Our Correspondent Monday, 3 Jan 2011 President Goodluck Jonathan has wished the ailing Ikemba Nnewi Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu, Ojukwu a quick recovery. Ojukwu is currently recuperating in a London hospital where he was flown to on December 24, 2010, for further treatment for stroke. In a personal letter dated December 31, 2010, Jonathan prayed for Ojukwu’s full recuperation from the ailment. A copy of the letter, sent to Ojukwu through the Nigerian High Commission in London, was made available to State House correspondents in Abuja on Saturday. “I write, on behalf of my family, the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to convey to you our earnest wishes for your very quick recovery from your indisposition. “Ever since you took ill and had to be flown abroad for medical attention, I have followed your progress with keen interest. “It is, therefore, a source of great relief for me to learn of the fact that you are getting better and very well on the way to recovery,’’ the President wrote in the letter. Jonathan prayed God to grant Ojukwu “many more years of robust health, enduring strength and uncommon wisdom.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201101031349439

Abagworo:Mistranslation. Ola edo means GOLD. Jewel is not part of its literal meaning. Ola means metal. Edo means golden color (yellowish of sorts) in Igbo. Ola ocha in Igbo means whitish metal -Silver. Quote me on that. ![]() Ileke-IdI:I believe Ola in Yoruba means wealth. No link there. |
I'm laughing. ![]() At times like these I miss the great lion of Biafra and his direct talks. He would have called it the way it is! Everybody is hiding and speaking with water in their mouths. Nobody is calling a spade a spade. ![]() I am more concerned that Ohanaeze Ndigbo may not have any plans at all in case Nigeria starts to come apart. I don't think MASSOB has any plans either. For all these years, countless number of Nigerians have called for a Sovereign National Conference to negotiate Nigeria. They all fell on deaf ears. It seems as if someone is working diligently to plunge Nigeria into a terminal civil war. Happy New Year ndu_chucks, and GOOD MORNING! ![]() |
revolt:Of course he is not. This video reminds me how beautiful and innocent my home culture is. [flash=480,385] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2b9UIZTTOo?fs=1&hl=en_US"[/flash] |
alj harem1:Translate this Igbo: "Anam eme ka efi" If you can't, then shame on you! |
alj harem1: Shame on you! You claim to have lived in a typical Igbo state for 15 years but you cannot translate the most basic Igbo. Either you have donkey brain or you are a pathetic liar. ![]() Nobody believed you anyway. I think you are the Northern version of Becomerich. hehehe!! ![]() |
bidemi12:That guy is incapable of intelligent discourse. Watch what he will say next. @Nairalanders, Mark my word, one day they will ask us to pay for EXISTING, and even collect death tax. Tax/Toll is both good and bad. Only the bad part exists in Nigeria. The good part (tax dividends like good roads without tolls) never materializes. Jail thieving politicians first before imposing a penny toll on hapless citizens. ![]() |
@ alj harem You say you lived in Anambra state for 15 years, okay translate this simple Anambra Igbo: "Anam eme ka efi" Waiting. . . |
Jomo-gbomo: Nigerians go wound me o! lmao! |
eku_bear:Good luck with your short cut in Nigeria. We dey wait. ![]() |
eku_bear:Believe me YOUR PEOPLE will complain about this toll before mine. We dey survive everywhere. My point is that Nigerians copy things without even thinking. Mental laziness is the problem. Tolls are serious stuff in a developing country like Nigeria. If you collect taxes, you have no moral justification to toll an ordinary road. ACN/Fashola wonder indeed! ![]() |
eku_bear:My math was off a little so I fixed it. But you get the idea. Yes, I read in the newspaper about the proposed tolls. Cars are N120 a pass. My relative owns a house at Lekki and he is complaining bitterly. Charge the damn thing on taxes, but leave folks alone to go about their business. Tolls are for specific things like bridges. I know they have started adding other things like ordinary roads, but must we copy every idea without thinking. ![]() |
lagbaja20:And you think that only Yoruba know how to vote along tribal lines. Tell me why NCNC controlled Eastern region and Midwest, and NPP controlled Eastern parts of Nigeria plus middle belt in the 80s. AG and UPN never controlled outside of SW. Dude, Yoruba vote cannot take anybody anywhere. Abiola was a flash in the pan and he was still stopped. We are ALREADY organizing. Watch APGA next year! Next year will bring us back to reckoning after many years of Obasanjo brigandage and vote theft in Igboland. Just watch. We are only interested in GEJ presidency next year (PDP) or Igbo presidency in 2015 |
eku_bear:Well, does it occur to you that the citizen already pay taxes and have daily expenses to take care off? Why should any sane person toll an ordinary road? Out here in the states, most tolled roads I know have bridges. Why are you tolling an ordinary road? I'm even saying these because I don't want any Igbo or Eastern state to copy that nonsense. Government build roads and maintain them. That is why people pay taxes. How can any sane person pay N120 each passing on a road he rely on daily to earn a living? Supposing he has to pass that gate 10 times a day; it is conscionable to charge him N1200 on that day? Eastern governors: DON'T COPY THIS S%^T! |
dayokanu:That means Yoruba will smell it in 2048! hehe! ![]() I don't know why folks come here to say irrelevant things. ![]() If GEJ wins ( and I pray fervently that he wins! ) Igboland will be transformed within 8 years of his rule.Actually Nigeria will be transformed, and Igboman gains most in a functional system 'cos we hustle ! Anytime it (presidency) comes to Igboland, it must come before it goes to Yorubaland. That's my point. |
lagbaja20:Every permutation stops after PDP primaries. If GEJ wins (and I believe he will), NO combination can defeat him in the general elections. ![]() If he loses, then a lot of permutations come into play. I really don't think that Buhari will pick a Yoruba for VP because he would lose. Nigerians have that at the back of their minds that a Yoruba was president from 1999 - 2007. You can believe whatever you want. In fact the thought of a Yoruba on the presidential ticket of any serious national party will piss a lot of folks OUTSIDE OF SW off, especially if GEJ loses the primaries. If Atiku is the PDP flag bearer, he will pick a SE candidate if he is serious and he will win. He has the likes of Soludo, Nnamani, Okonjo-Iweala to pick as future president in waiting. I don't see any SW politician with better pedigree than those folks. For the Igbo, it is all about 2015. And we start next year. |
