@GARTH

Pls Forget the clown called onlydumb. . .Nairaland is not a place u come to get information on a project of this type

If anyone is seriously thinking of spending $3million dollars for a plot, they should first spend $6000 on a return ticket to lagos and go see things for themselves

The clown claims he is looking for actionable info from a professional. . .lol

he should be asking himself if he can afford the time of a professional. . . Time is money and in yankee we bill by the hr. . .

So leave that clown alone, let him wallow in his ignorance. . .

same advice i will give to u too Mr Knowall

Only one thing though, will i(You) be rich enuff to afford this ish in 5yrs time?
(I can almost imagine the cool see breeze blowing through while i lounge in ma highrise eko atlantic condo with 2 honeys)
now thats the only sensible million dollar question. , ha ha.
. cool
Ha ha ha lmao! hehehe rolling on da floor.  grin grin cheesy grin cheesy cheesy

If that is how wealth is created, then be rest assured that you can never be rich in your life.

I would not spend $3000 if I can save it and use to buy a plot of land ELSEWHERE, safely away from the white elephant project.

If I do that, then I no be Iboman. cool cool cool

You can get actionable information from the website, and the ones you can't get there you can still get through email or phone. And the source is not in heaven.

The first sentence of the article said, "$3b Eko Atlantic City project targets 2015 completion date" . . .so how is what i posted wrong? and they said redevelopment scheme because they are redeveloping bar beach into the world class city known as eko atlantic, you may have heard about wink. they are extending bar beach duh. . .and redevelopment scheme is any new construction on a site that has pre-existing uses.

whats with all the questions. . . are you any of those things. . .if not you shouldn't be talking either.
So did any of the bolded suggest phasing in the cost? And yes I am one of those things.
Do you have information on the project, not the sketchy ones being bandied about with the Youtube videos.

Let me point you to a similar project in South Korea called the New Song Do city. I have tonnes of data for that project.

My general fear for him and for APGA is that he did not make his move early enough. I don't like decampments but Nigerian politics is full of it. If he left earlier he could have presented a new APGA manifesto to Abia electorates. Well, he is still the incumbent and can do a lot between now and next year's elections.

I don't know how to take this, but I would take it as good sign that APGA is at least trying to do what it should do -capture the whole south east.
PoliticsAbia State Governor (T.A Orji) Finally Joins A P G A by Onlytruth(op): 9:58pm On Jun 27, 2010
Written by Biola Azeez, Umuahia   Sunday, 27 June 2010

Following several months of frosty situation and denial surrounding the particular political party that will take Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State to his second term in office, Sunday Tribune has gathered that the governor has concluded arrangement to declare for the All Progressive Alliance (APGA) this weekend.

This was on the heels of a call by Movement for Abia Reunion on Friday, advising the governor to jettison the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) and join any other party  to assure his re-election bid in 2011.

It would be recalled that the Governor Orji, who had expressed the intention to contest for second term in office, has not specified the political party under which he would achieve his ambition as there has been  intra-party crisis in PPA.

The placard-carrying crowd asked the governor to take a bold step by leaving the party, which they described as a family one, and which has in recent times resorted to insulting the governor and undermining his office.

The spokesperson of the group, Don Ubani, said Abia Reunion Movement is an umbrella body of all the pressure groups are campaigning for the second term of Governor Orji.

Ubani, who read a communique signed by Chairman of the group, Chief Allen Nwachukwu, and Secretary, Hon. Kingsley Imaga, debunked claims that the governor had failed, saying the governor had prudently managed the resources available to him to pilot the affairs of the state since his assumption of office.

Speaking, the governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Donatus Okorie, said the governor remained the man to beat in 2011, but added that he would not be caught off guard in the matter.

He urged the crowd that besieged the Government House to ensure they have their voter’s register that will enable them vote for their preferred candidate at the elections.

It was gathered that Governor Orji met with the APGA national chairman, Chef Victor Umeh and Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu in Enugu last week, to prepare his eventual move to the APGA for the second term ambition.

$3b Eko Atlantic City project targets 2015 completion date.
By Tunde Alao

THE ambitious $3 billion redevelopment scheme seeking to transform the troubled Lagos beachfront into a comprehensive tourism and commercial facility - which was formally launched with fanfare last week - has been given a 2015 completion deadline.

GAR3TH:
That just proves to you that the $3 billion is for dredging/land reclamation.
My friend do you know the meaning of the term "redevelopment scheme"? If you don't, why are you here posting blindly?
Why are Nigerians incapable of normal reasoning? That is how we have quacks and politicians ruining our football. Anytime the NFA elections come around, all manner of quacks and thieves line up. That is how they killed our football.

Are you a professional in environmental design, planning or management?
If not, why are you here then? Why not go to other threads?

I am still waiting for actionable information on this project, hopefully from a professional.

The only way to settle this whole matter is to just wait. When high rise structures, roads, etc start getting built you better not still be here claiming that this project isn't for real.  If you still are, then something is really wrong with you.
Why not do that instead of throwing insults blindly.

There is nothing wrong with me. Like I've said before, I am interested in this project, so this is not just a talking point for me.
Sometimes I get angry that Nairaland has provided an opportunity for people to throw insults without much of a clue.  angry

@kobo

will you now agree that this project is 100% privately funded. I have given you info straight from the govt. people but you seem to have just ignored that bit of information. Seems you and your friend @onlytruth are too stubborn to accept facts wen its presented.

So even though I have given evidence that Lagos is not contributing any money for the project it is a government project? With your backwards reasoning everything project in lagos is then a government project just because lagos is providing the land. I think you need to get your head examined.
No my friend. YOU need to have YOUR head examined. cool
PoliticsRe: The New Lagos by Onlytruth(m): 5:39am On Jun 27, 2010
The more laughable aspect of it is the completion time line of 2015.

i thought the main point several people have been trying to make here is that this is NOT a govt funded project? huh

i checked out sometime ago when certain quarters [onlytruth and kobojunkie] began their usual running in circles, so havent fully read the last two/three pages.

are you intentionally trying to be obtuse with your 3 posts or something? huh
So a project like this is not a government project?
I hope you remember that there is what is called Land Use Act in Nigeria which vests ALL lands in the state governors. Nothing happens on a piece of land (in this case a reclaimed land) without the government consent. The government actually owns the land. Developers only have a 99 year lease -certificate of occupancy (C of O). Until the Act is amended, that is what we have in Nigeria.
This fact alone makes this a government business.
This project by and large is a PPP (private + government).
That is at least as far as Nigerians should be concerned.

For a private foreign investor, his interest should even be more, afterall he is risking his money.
All I had done was to ask for the development plans, and all I kept getting were Youtube videos and envisions.

Does Nigeria even have an active operating pipeline? The last time I went to Lagos, we had to get water outta the well. And this was a fully well furnished Lagos house.

Yep I guess.
In my professional opinion, the first real infrastructure a city like Lagos needs is a modern sewer system because it lies a little below sea level. Even sunami is a possibility in Lagos. Flooding will only worsen as more development takes place.

Does Nigeria have a drainage/sewer system?
The short answer is NO. At least not the one you and I are used to. Maybe somewhere in Abuja but I doubt there is any in Lagos.
They have gutters. What they call sewers are covered gutters.

Mind you 40 years is a long time. Some Asian nations and even Germany became first world nations by achievements of under 40 years. I remember my 2005 visit to Anambra state. I was stunned by what Ngige was able to achieve in under 3 years, and I remember thinking that if he continued for 8 years, Anambra state would be knocking on the door of first world status at least in road networks. Why has there not been a Nigerian leader who did that for Nigeria for a whole 40 years?

I'm just been real. So spare me.  undecided

You are wrong. We do exist!
So where have you been for 40 years? huh huh huh

In my book there are three categories of people in Nigeria:

1) Those who feel that they own Nigeria and their sectional interest is the same as Nigerian interest
2) Those who are happy picking crumbs and cowering below the first group
3) Those who want out of Nigeria.

These top groups make up at least 70% of the Nigerian population.

The remaining 30% drift with the wind all the time. They swing because they frankly can't do much other than that.
It is within this last group that I suspect you belong.
You can find the so called Nigerians in this last group, but they are too minute to be relevant in the scheme of things.

Cohomology:
As far as I'm concerned, Nigeria's best days were between December 31st 1983 and August 27, 1985.

Yes, some of the tactics employed by the Buhari/Idiagbon regime were extreme (e.g., death penalty for drug traffickers), however, they performed excellently as leaders. Not the barawos we're all clapping for because we want to be in their good books.

After them came IBB, hardcore thief! From then on it has been one goat to another.

I just hope Jonathan doesn't turn out to be a goat, I'm keeping my toes crossed - my fingers are tired of being crossed abeg.
The same cleansing they tried to do ousted them from office. When IBB came, he dropped the cleansing and stayed there for 8 years. OBJ did exactly the same and he stayed for 8 years.
Knowing Nigeria's history, Jonathan would be a fool to try changing much. We'd be lucky if he actually reforms the electoral process. I wouldn't do that if I were him anyway because Nigeria needs far more than electoral reforms.

Is your quarrel with the word "Nigerian" or the word "average"?
Ok my problem is Nigerian. They don't exist.

As for risking life? Once you step up to say you want to be a leader, you must be prepared for self sacrifice. That is the ultimate price for national honour?
grin grin grin

You and I know that a leader like Buhari actually meant well for Nigeria more than say Awo or Ojukwu. But guess who is more revered in Nigeria today?

I would not (and I don't expect Jonathan to undecided) risk my life for Nigeria.

All those who are opposing him now would calm down once he throws oil blocks at them, even the most hardened northern opposition.

Cohomology:
There is no national interest because the average Nigerian sees himself as a member of an ethnic group way before seeing himself as a Nigerian.

Also, because the average Nigerian does not employ his/her mental faculties (hunger, poverty, sickness, no mental faculty, who knows?), we allow ourselves to be used as toys by the crooks in government to fight each other on ethnic and religious grounds. We even kill each other to make sure that certified thieves are in government just because the thief is from our ethnic group.

As long as the average Nigerian refuses to apply his/her mental faculties, all these goats, many of them pregnant he-goats, will continue to destroy whatever is left of that country called Nigeria.
The bolded is the biggest fallacy in your logic. There are NO AVERAGE NIGERIANS.
All the past leaders that tried to create that identity were killed or ousted in coups.
