BTW ogugua, you should (if you really are smart and have no bones to pick with your own tribe) wonder why ANIMALS like

When the lion starts to cheer the young elephant for venturing farther and father away from the herd of elephants, the young elephant should know that it will soon become food for the lion.

ogugua88: No one called you or any other Igbo a rogue.
So, who said this?

@Obiagu1 I will support an honest non-Igbo over a rogue Igbo any day. I will support an honest Igbo over a rogue non-Igbo any day. Tribalism has consumed all Nigerians. Rather than search for a candidate with political experience, knowledge, courage despite adversity, and other traits we would love in a president, we're busy searching for who can represent our tribe best in the presidential election in 2015. I don't have time for that.
You think we are all kids here? sad

I never took any of this really serious, I just used to have fun logging on and bugging you and your likes because I know you guys have no life outside this virtual world and I just loved putting bees in your pants because I figured most of you tribalists weren't well upstairs anyways. I'm back now! Been in a meeting all day. cool

My dear brothers, I hope you can now all see the type of reasons why no one takes us (Igbo) seriously in Nigeria. We are breeding efulefus by the day! Our children are not being brought up to defend their own chances of survival.
Believe me, some of us have ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO CHALLENGE THE NIGERIAN STATUS QUO. I know that most of my council members are fine and have no personal issues. Heck we can even join the Nigerian feast of evil or join FAKE progressives who are deceiving themselves. We are being attacked because we are actually trying to do something that can lead to a good future for our children. Our fathers did same for us, that is why we even have some modicum of federal presence in the East. If our fathers were as selfish (seeking approval from the oppressors of Ndigbo) as ogugua, Igboland will be far worse than far north today.
They fought injustice against us, even up to the point of taking up arms. Some of them died in the process, and today, whatever attention the oguguas are getting on Nairaland is because other Nigerians remember what the Igbo did in the past and fear a repeat of that, thanks to our fathers' sacrifices and relentless fight against anti-Igboism in Nigeria.
Now, ogugua would dare call us "rogue", when her own father is a member of TWO Igbo based organisations.
What does that make her? The daughter of a rogue! Simples. cool

Back to what were are doing here. I am VERY happy that we set out to form (or reform) our awareness and collective consciousness as Ndigbo, because the chaos in Nigeria has led to a situation where the victim has now become sympathetic to the oppressor. There is a psychological term for this phenomenon (I can't recall the term for now). People like Ogugua are the first set of Igbo kids who (because they are not really being trained well) will eventually sell the whole real estate of Igboland to the oppressors and haters of Ndigbo; and they will do this without even being aware of what they are doing. And they would attack anyone who disagrees with their aloofness and cluelessness.

Even when it is obvious on this thread that there are people from other tribes clearly working on a tribal agenda against Ndigbo here, ogugua still cannot see them. She can only see her fellow Igbo, and attack them constantly.
I somehow think she has a personal bone to pick with her Igbo tribe. She is not saying what it is.

This is part of why I stated in another post here and said the following:

Kedu ihe mere na umu Igbo na egosikari ike ha n'ebe umu Igbo ibe ha no?". I gave the example of kidnapping.
I am yet to see ogugua pick a SERIOUS argument with non-Igbos on this forum over any issue.
She only always wakes up to attack us when we start defending Igbo interests in Nigeria.

Bikonu Onye obula zuo umuaka ya o!
Nnukwu nsogbu kariri nke anyi no n'ime ya na abia na ala Igbo.

I wish to thank umunna and the Eze in Council for a wonderful job they have done here in the defense of Igbo survival agenda.

Like I also said, Obi may not be the best governor Anamabra can have at any time, but only trolls would call him a failure in Nigeria. The country itself is fkced up and population is increasing, with more resources going to the least educated states in Nigeria. How someone from such states can attack Anambra state beats me.
PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by Onlytruth(m): 5:20pm On Jun 10, 2012
Mr. Globe:
somtimes, I wonder who made you an eze on this NL.. Where was I then? You are a disgrace to the igbo race! For you to think a docile governor like obi will be given a presidential ticket shows how mentally deficient you are. Obi is a failure and every Anambrarian knows that. El Rufai said what everybody already knows. He may goof sometimes but he is correct here. Obi has dragged the state to backwardness and its not that hard to see. You may not know about his obsession with buying houses in Abuja or massive corruption. And note that you have not contributed any meaningful thing to the igbo race on NL with this your 'office'. I will never allow a fan of backwardness lead me!
Well, you and other empty headed i.diots like you were very much around when I was VOTED overwhelmingly to be Eze here.
I won by wide margin and I have been here at least over TWO years making constant comments before that elections.

PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by Onlytruth(m): 5:18pm On Jun 10, 2012
Like I said before, only a troll would call Obi a failure (especially when compared to other governors in Nigeria).
Another thing that anyone WITH BRAINS would observe is that APGA is turning down merger invitations from other opposition parties. The 2015 politics is well underway!

Someone rightly observed that Anambra state is the most feared state in Igboland. Pull down Anambra state; destroy Igbo political solidity. FACT.

Mallam is a very astute politician. He knows what he is doing.
I never thought I would see a day when a Northerner that contributes ZERO to national coffers would call the most hard working state backwards. When some folks call for reduction of federal government reach and power, people like El Rufai fight it to the bitter end, yet they wake up from the dead to start attacking a state that gets some of the least federal allocation, and still produce some of the best educated Nigerian. SMH @ this level of desperation.
PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by Onlytruth(m): 9:54am On Jun 10, 2012
This El Rufai direct attack on Obi may be all the proof we need to conclude that the PDP may well field Obi as a presidential candidate in 2015. I've heard the rumor severally but it looks too "blindsiding" to be true. When you consider that APGA recently severally turned down invitations from other opposition parties, the math starts to add up!
El Rufai is only doing a hatchet job here. lol
Obi may not be the best Anambra can produce as a governor, but only trolls will call him a failure.

Watch out folks! The Nigerian toads never jump around in broad day for nothing. cheesy

ogugua88: One would hope Nigeria, as a whole, would benefit, but I am doubtful. Biafra was created to solve the Igbo problem. Instead, we became bigger targets and were ganged upon until Ojukwu accepted defeat and Biafra was dissolved.

If you want my opinion, then I'll dictate it to you.

I have been reading this thread since it was formed and didn't post until today because of a post from Tpia, where tpia mentioned taking up a more widespread cause, with which I agree.

Some feel that Igbos should be the only ones putting their heads together to tackle lack of accountability, peace, and justice. If there was a perfect time to engage other Nigerians in fighting against corruption, injustice, and Boko Haram, that time is now. Nigerians are effected by all three of these things. Igbos are targets of Boko Haram, but other groups are victimized as well. Rather than retreat to our region and focus on ourselves, Igbos should be reaching out to others. Now.

My biggest fear is history repeating itself, and as of now, we seem to be on that track. The formations of Biafra and Ndi Igbo exclusive groups only exacerbates my fears. A very silly example, but I'll give it. My father attends events within the Nigerian community here. As in, every event that comes his way, he tries his best to be there or I'll go in his place, be it Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, or whichever else. What he's told me since I was young is "if you attend no one's function, don't expect anyone to attend your own". This is why I was livid when OnlyTruth and others were defending Igbos and their lack of participation during the protests in January. One of the downfalls of many Nigerians is the "do me I do you" mentality. As Igbos were noticeably absent, others will bear that in mind, especially if Igbos ever find themselves in trouble and in need of assistance or resources.
Some Igbos will be defiant or stubborn and tell you that they don't need other Nigerians helping them. If I read well, Biafrans fought for Biafra alone and were severely outnumbered in terms of soldiers and weaponry. This is life, not a Hollywood film like "300". Passion does not win wars. Outdoing the opposition does, and allies would help. Igbos share a commonality with most Nigerians in that many of us are angry that after 13 years of democratic rule, we have nothing to show for it.

Boko Haram is in Aso Rock and some of those in office fail to see the bombings as criminal, so reaching out to the Nigerian FG is out of the question. The only option I find logical is reaching out to other Nigerians. We all want justice, accountability, and peace. That's easy. How do we get there? This is why I suggested tending to "Nigerian issues" and reaching out to other groups. Therefore, if the time ever comes for Boko Haram and the FG to attack the Eastern region just like others have done before, we will not be alone this time.

The Kano protests were eye-openers and a great example as to how far Nigerians have come. Christians and Muslims held hands and protested. They even formed a peace covenant. When Muslims were praying, Christians stood outside the mosques and protected them. When Christians prayed, Muslims stood outside churches and protected them. I won't forget that, and other Nigerians shouldn't either. We are all tired of being angry at government and angry from being tired of waiting on government to change. If Senators from north, south, east, and west can unite against same-sex marriage, then Nigerians from north, south, east, and west can unite against corruption, injustice, and violence.
Ogugua, please go to bed, it is 1:43 am where you are.
Your parents would not be happy that their daughter is up around this time for any reason. I don't want to say more but the issues you are dragging can only be discussed by your father ( I think I know him because I am very active in Igbo affairs here in the states too). You are simply enjoying the attention and not contributing much.
You are repeating what every Nigerian knew even as far back as 1960, yet they still have not changed even after millions died in an unnecessary war, and MANY military governments. The "democracy" we have today was designed and imposed by the same people who are determined to thwart change for reasons of personal gains.
Our mission as Umu Igbo Nairaland is to hopefully chip away at the bases of these elements until they leave us alone to progress. You are indirectly supporting the same people holding Ndigbo (and by extension other Nigerians) hostage.
If not for other Igbo still talking to you I would have since drawn the curtain on you.
Like someone said, go back to the Romance section. We are talking unromantic things here.

PointB: Let me pick the fuel subsidy strike and a few other comments of yours.

If we (Igbos) did not join in that strike, does that not mean anything to you? Have you forgotten that prior to that strike, for all intent and purpose, it appears like Igbos were being targeted and hacked down in their numbers by Boko Haram in the North? Besides, was fuel subsidy the biggest headache of Igbo, and indeed Nigeria? When the issue of second niger bridge, and international airport, and indeed federal presence in Igboland is what we should be protesting for? Look around you. Is Igboland not part of Nigeria? To what extent has successive central government demonstrated this? Beside, are there no bigger issues in Nigeria than the fuel subsidy removal that warrants such vigorous politically motivated protest?. I thought you will be pleased that Igbos did not go the way of herd mentality!

As per showing our full potential on matter concerning Ndi Igbo, I don't know where that come from, and I haven't really observed it. And I think if Igbo were to really act selfishly, the bulk of our investments will find the way back home. In any case, Nigeria is tending towards regionalism, if we can get as many Igbo man and woman to think 'Igboland' that's a fine start.

By the way to avoid contradicting yourself, you should consider quitting the Anambra association in California, and join the Nigeria Association, as it make more sense since you are more 'Nigerian' than other (Igbos). But I bet you won't, as you will realise like some of us that you disdain here that indeed 'Charity begins at home.' and that a prosperous, developed and thriving Igboland is good for Nigeria. And like OnlyTruth said, who want Biafra if we can have a just and fair Nigeria?

Peace be unto you my sister!

Call a spade a spade. Nigeria is not greater than Botswana, talkless of the US, thanks to poor governance and poor mentalities.

It doesn't matter who supports you or how many. Many people supported GEJ and see how that has turned out. What matters is your ideology or way of doing things. I'm only stating my opinion which is in conflict with yours. If it's a big funeral that your aiming for, be my guest. I can die and be buried with no coffin in mud. PointB: The average Igbo man is a hard-working Nigerian, who believes in utilising his environment for maximum benefit. He cares about his family (nuclear and extended); he worries about tomorrow more than he does about today. An average Igboman is very secure, very confident, and very daring! A reason he is very ubiquitous. He is peace loving, and does not quarrel with his neighbours or host.

But Gbawe either doesn't know this because he lives in Ghana, or maybe what he wrote here is what his parents fed him from childhood - lies, junks, and hatred! Gbawe will never critique without accusing other of being insecure, or inferior. He is always the first to accuse other poster of ethnic motivation if they do support his own bigot line of argument.

If this spiteful and hateful approach does not give an inkling into Gbawe dysfunctional childhood, I wonder what else does.

The good thing is that an average yoruba man is not like Gbawe, otherwise the xenophobic outburst in South Africa will be childplay compare to what the ilk of hateful people like Gbawe will wrought.

The likes of Gbawe are more dangerous than Alj_Harems of this world when it comes to stoking myopic ethnic flames. His hatred for Igbos is legendary. I have said earlier that people like him should be monitored. I need to restate, that this hateful mongrel should be place under watch by vigilant Nairalanders.

To all other readers.

We DO NOT believe in the superiority of Igbo over any other tribe in Nigeria.
We simply believe in equal opportunity, justice, peace and progress.
The near lack of the above, and the "victor" mentality is part of the greatest problem facing Nigeria.
Without justice, there is NO WAY NIGERIA CAN SURVIVE.
Simple truth.

So, please ignore those who hate themselves and somehow can't admit it in public.

ogugua88: I'm not throwing my clans, family, or anyone under the bus. I am Igbo, but I am Nigerian as well. It's not only Igbos that died in last week's plane crash or Boko Haram's strikes. All Nigerians are at danger, and I choose to use my efforts to strengthen my nation, including Igbos. What good does it do us if Igbos are successful and united but the rest of the nation is lagging? I am not trying to appear fair-minded. That's how I was born and raised by my 100% Igbo parents.

You think standing united as one Nigeria is the equivalent of Igbo "disappearance, or total silence and subsumption under other groups in Nigeria"? I'm appalled. Nigeria is a pot of different groups and tribes, each of which not being more or less important than the other. I don't suffer from inferiority complex or self-hate. You suffer from superiority complex and arrogance. I recall that during the fuel subsidy strikes, Igbos were silent, and you backed them by claiming that Igbos had no business protesting as it was none of our business, and then you supported Igbos when they protested weeks after the fact for their own cause.

I'm 100% Igbo and I'm proud of that fact. I am part of a committee for an Anambra association, as well as a Neni association in California. However, I'm also Nigerian. It is possible to be Igbo and Nigerian at the same time believe it or not. Corruption isn't plaguing Igbos alone. Bad roads aren't claiming the lives of Igbos alone. Boko Haram isn't attacking Igbos alone. Nigerians, including Igbos, are intelligent people, but I feel some of you only show your fullest potential when it comes to matters concerning Ndi Igbo. It's something I have noticed from many Igbos, including yourself. I say this without fear because I'm Igbo. You need to hear it from your own, because if I was Hausa or Yoruba, you wouldn't give me the time of day.

Martin Luther King Jr was an African American who believed in one United States. The Black Panthers believe in Black superiority. I think we know who has left a greater legacy.
Please in the name of ALMIGHTY GOD, do not EVER compare the United States with ANYTHING in Nigeria. angry I beg you.
Don't insult a GREAT country. angry

As for the rest of what you said, I will refer you again to what I said already about someone who thinks that his kinsmen are mad. If you take a rough poll here, about 90% + Igbo support my views here.FACT. cool
That leaves a minuscule you and rest who wants to reinvent the wheel when we are already in the age of aircrafts and spaceships. Some older guy sounded just like you in the 50s and created a nation that was not negotiated properly, while another (a far younger guy) sounded just like me in the late 60s trying to create a negotiated nation.
Guess who history judged wiser? BTW guess who got a national burial complete with FULL military honors and his coffin carried by GENERALS? Hint, it was the younger man who sounded just like me, while the older guy who sounded just like you has his tomb overgrown by grass today.
Na so life be. sad

This was never another session of useless argument with you. It was a lesson session, and I have delivered my lesson. Take it or leave it. To make yourself feel better, whenever you see us "Igbo bigots" chatting how to survive, please ignore us and move on. BTW can you read Igbo? lol

flexya: No offence 2 my brothers in the SE bt we all know that money talks. Even they couldn't vote for Ojukwu in 2007, in their own party (APGA), despite the love ojukwu had for ndigbo. Ngige or Okorocha flying the presidential flag in a ACN/CPC party won't make a damnb difference. U ppl will still vote pdp/GEJ cos ur govnors will buy ur votes.

By the way, some ppl think foolishly. Imagine an hausa party (cpc) and a yoruba party (acn) merging bt decidin 2 give the presidential ticket 2 an igbo man in Ngige because he is an ACN senator wit a good track record. Its clear whoever thot this has no clue wat nigerian politics is all about.

Finally, win or loose, Tinubu will contest. Ko tori olorun se now! It will be an hausa + yoruba ticket.
@First bolded, if you want to tell yourself the truth, you would at least know that the election was RIGGED because there is NO WAY we voted anybody over Ojukwu.

@Second bolded, if you mean that our governors may RIG for Jonathan in 2015, then MAYBE, depending on what others are doing for Ndigbo, and how aggrieved we are over Jonathan in 2015. Our governors are not super humans, and it is an insult to say that we don't have a choice over who gets our votes in 2015. If you doubt me, go and ask PDP's Ikedi Ohakim how he lost Imo guber polls in 2011.
You people should mind your section of Nigeria and leave us alone.

ogugua88: I agree with this last bit. I don't know what "The Igbo Cause" is. Nigeria is a mess in its entirety. I don't know how they find time or opportunity to focus on "The Igbo Cause". It's embarrassing that there are people who are still calling themselves Biafrans, who are still fighting for a(n) Biafran/Igbo cause, who can't put their vendettas aside to deal with a much bigger problem. They may think Igbos are the best tribe or have their own agenda, but they still come from Nigeria, one of the most unstable, feared nations not only in the continent, but in the world. Some priorities need to be straightened.
People like you are what we call "Ndi ogba ka o data ego" - translated (because I can almost be certain that you cannot read Igbo ) it means those who would throw their clans, families and friends under the bus just to win the approval of others, or to appear "fair minded". If you were a man, you would be called something much worse (like efulefu, lol).
I say this, not on the strength of your post above, but on your general posts on Nairaland.
Our (IGBO - yes we are still here and will continue to talk! cool) people say that "Onye siri na umunna ya na awi ara, na ara nke onye ahu ka!" -a person who thinks that ALL his kinsmen are mad, that person is suffering from the worst kind of insanity. undecided
Nuff said.

This thread is not really for people like you who thinks that Igbo redemption lies in our disappearance, or total silence and subsumption under other groups in Nigeria. To you, we should never self identify; we should just shut up and tip toe around, unheard. Unfortunately for people like you with the WORST type of inferiority complex and self hate, we are a nation of about 40 million people. cool
Only a fool would believe that such a HUGE nation can ever be silent.
Keep deceiving your self and your few brainless minions on Nairaland. cool
