in that case I put it to our President and his Vice that they find it hard because they are looking in the same circle everybody has been picking from, the Vice is a new face at the national level, why haven't they brought in more new faces. i know so many people that would die for Nigerian without a dime. please consult well or should I say outside the regular circles. you people are use to white people picking for you, now you need to do the hard work and dig deep, it is your country never forget that and no outsider should tell a child about his fathers house.

Thanks for your input
BusinessRe: What Exactly Will Go Wrong If The CBN Floods The Economy With Dollars? by onoja12: 9:40pm On Feb 19, 2016
economically speaking the reason why the dollar is high is because of demand and supply, meaning the quantity of dollar been earned is not enough to match the quantity been spent, hence the need to make sure we spend our few dollars been earned on the most important things and those not so important would have to source there dollar by themselves. we don't have enough dollar for several reasons but the two main reasons is the fall of the price of oil and secondly because the former government practically emptied the CBN of all the dollar to be shipped out of the country or spent on election. i hope I was able to answer your question

Obiagelli:
I am not in anyway an economist but i have been reading a bit, especially Henry Boyo ( truth be told, i get an anytime i do).
I believe we earn our oil revenue in dollars, what if the federal government pay states their allocation in dollars and the state simple exchange their dollars for naira at the bank or BDC.
With this system there will be surplus dollar in the system that will drive the exchange rate down. A good example of this was during the last election when dollar was raining all over the place (thanks to Dasuki) the dollar fell to 170 naira despite official rate at 197 naira.

I have noticed something especially among our pro western economist professors, they really don't think in relation to Nigeria they just wait for the west and start researching how to defend it,this was the same thing Mrs Havard was doing

olajide8:
Which is exactly what the CBN is saying, our over cerebral Prof., is saying big bang- hamburger economics is better- he has read to the point where he is no longer in tandem with the society he lives in
PoliticsRe: Video: Pat Utomi Boldly Say To Buhari To Keep Quiet If He Has Nothing To Say by onoja12: 2:55pm On Feb 04, 2016
i believe we can experiment with a modifed two rate system like cuba.let the market regulate itself and let the government operate on its own.meaning all dollar from the CBN should be used only by the government at the government rate while the market sources its dollar by itself.so the CBN doesnt end up as a cash cow for speculators

Ilaje44:
Theoretically, the Devaluation of a country's currency should trigger Export, because your Exports will become cheaper for foreigners. Nigeria being an agrarian country won't be able to fully enjoy the benefits of devaluation. We tried that out already during IBB time with the IMF imposed SAP. It totally killed off our burgeoning home made manufacturing, because raw materials and Machinery/spare parts became prohibitively expensive.

Anyway, Buhari need not say he won't devalue the Naira, because that is very far from reality. What he won't do, the market has already taken care of it.
PoliticsRe: Video: Pat Utomi Boldly Say To Buhari To Keep Quiet If He Has Nothing To Say by onoja12: 8:23pm On Feb 03, 2016
shut your trap, what do you know about economics, devaluation makes things cheaper for those who buy raw material and very expensive for those who buy the finished goods.to buy goods you first have to convert your money to dollar,if you were using 200naira to buy one dollar, now you have to bring 300 naira to buy the same dollar please tell me how those it help you.i had to use simple mans terms because people like you with your big grammer dont ever know anything just to wail

hobermener:
typical of the average zombie who is totally bereft of simple economic policies and their implications. Humbly keep quiet when the issue discussed is far beyond your grasp. Devaluation makes a country's currency cheaper, and those of others expensive, consequently boosting exports, and curtailing imports.
PoliticsRe: Video: Pat Utomi Boldly Say To Buhari To Keep Quiet If He Has Nothing To Say by onoja12: 8:18pm On Feb 03, 2016
what sectors?it is most importers complaining of shortage, manufacturers are very happy over the policy,or is it useless so called foreign schools in Nigeria who charge in dollar that are not happy.see Nigerians we need to stop our slave mentality .

grandstar:
Not devaluing is making matters far worse. The naira will not have sank to 306 at the black market which os making things harder for the poor man.

All sectors are conplaining of shortages of forex and its affecting operations. The naira will hit 400 by year ending.

psquaret:
– Pat Utomi blames President Muhammadu Buhari

– The Professor criticized the president for saying he would not devalue the Naira

– He says the country is paying for sins it committed by not saving

Professor Pat Utomi has lashed at President Muhammadu Buhari for the statement he made in Kenya that he would not devalue the Naira.

The falling price of crude oil in the international market has weakened the Naira against the dollar thereby affecting the economy of the country. The president who was in Kenya for three days said he was yet to be persuaded that Nigeria and its people will receive any noticeable benefit from an official devaluation of the currency.

Utomi however claimed the president has no knowledge of the economy and should allow those who do speak on the matter.

Utomi spoke exclusively to naij.com on Monday at the inauguration conference of the Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy on Monday, February 1. Asked about the current economic situation, Utomi said Nigeria was paying for its sin as the country failed to do what it should have done.

READ ALSO: Why I refused to devalue Naira – Buhari

“The economic situation is a very big issue and there are many problems that have converged. We are just paying for our sins. We are paying for not having done what we should have done. Who gets a windfall for a very long time? Oil is a very volatile commodity…we had a big boom but we squandered everything.”

The professor said the country should have saved when it had surplus but it didn’t.

“We need a disciplined and focused political leadership at this time. Unfortunately, I don’t think we are quite there.”

He said the president’s statement in Kenya that he would not devalue the Naira has already created more problem for Nigeria.

“Somebody like him should not be talking about such things. Keep quiet…he has created a major problem for the Nigerian economy by that statement.

The president’s economic policies have been criticised lately with the Financial Times UK describing them as the‘height of foolishness’.

erunz:
According to this CNN report, Nigeria is in trouble and cash starved. The report suggests that Nigeria needs an emergency bail out to survive in the times of crashing Oil prices. Read below:
Nigeria is considering asking the World Bank, the African Development Bank and other international organizations for help to plug a hole in this year’s budget created by the collapse in crude oil prices. The government said it is looking to borrow as much as $9 billion to fund its cash-starved economy.
The 75% plunge in crude prices to around $33 per barrel means Nigeria is now losing money on some of the oil it pumps.
Nigeria is the second major oil producing country, after Azerbaijan, to admit it might need emergency financing because of low crude prices.
Africa’s largest economy is also the continent’s biggest oil producer. The sector accounts for about 35% of GDP, 75% of government revenue and 90% of export earnings.
Nigeria grew by 4% in 2015, and the International Monetary Fund expects a similar rate of expansion this year.
But the government has been burning through its foreign currency reserves, which fell to $28 billion at the end of January from $43 billion two years ago.
And its budget deficit is growing fast. The government wants to invest in big infrastructure projects and make the country less dependent on oil.
The deficit is now expected to reach 3 trillion naira ($15 billion) in 2016, up from a previous estimate of 2.2 trillion.
Nigeria is also suffering from frequent power cuts and fuel shortages because it doesn’t have enough capacity to refine it own crude.
The finance ministry denied reports that it has already asked for emergency cash, but said it is considering a World Bank loan as one way of funding the deficit.
“The truth is that Nigeria… has indicated an intention to borrow 1.8 trillion naira principally for investment in capital projects to stimulate the economy,” Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said in a statement.
Nigeria is exploring the option of borrowing from multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and AFDB, as well as the Export-Import Bank of China, because they offer lower rates of interest than other lenders, she said.
Nigeria is a member of OPEC, and has been pushing for the Saudi-led oil cartel to cut production to support prices.
OPEC decided in 2014 to wage a price war with low cost producers in the U.S. and elsewhere in a bid to defend market share. Many OPEC countries are still making money at these prices but others are losing.
Nigeria’s average production costs are estimated at about $31 a barrel.

i don't know how to put this to you,but i think it is probably you who doesn't know what education means.they are three forms of education.which are formal education(classroom),semi formal education(technical school) and non formal education(experience).it is proven beyond doubt that non formal education is the most powerful form of education.most people in education know this but hide it because it is bad for business.

please be reminded that neither Bill Gate nor Steve Jobs two of the greatest minds of our time have any formal degree.

monacobull:
Let me start off by saying at this point i believe Nigerian graduates have a lot of work to do. Its taking a lot of effort for me to contain the level of disappointment im currently feeling towards our university leavers. I work in a multinational company and i have had the chance to partake in the interview process of some roles the company advertised. Most of the time im usually appalled at the errors and goofs i see on CV's. So let me get to the main story.

Six graduates came into the office this morning to interview for an internship position. Which was going to pay a basic salary and also some nice commissions. All the interviewees were very disappointing despite the very easy questions which was for a very simple role. In fact none of them showed enough quality to half consider them for the job. undecided

After the last person left, I and my colleague had already given up and hoped to do a fresh advert for the role. But 1 other person that was present at the interview was a senior staff from our foreign headquarters. And he suddenly suggested that we give the office cleaner a chance. At first i thought he was saying it out of frustration but this guy was damn serious. Long story short, we called the cleaner in and he handled our questions well and even scaled through 80% of the objection statements we threw at him! Whats more is that this guy isn't exactly educated and he even stammers! WTF !!!! Agreed he might have had better answers because he knows some more about the company having worked with us for a while, but still on still!...to outshine 6 graduates!...ah. shocked

Finally finally we have decided to take him on a trial role and give him the required training. Im still shocked beyond belief. huh

Naija graduates, please get your shit together. angry angry angry

PoliticsRe: Petition On Questionable Medical Awarding Institutions In The Caribbean by onoja12(op):
This has just been brought to my attention, while I didn't post this on this site.I would however responding point by point

1)PRIDE; In words and in deeds I am a very very proud man, when it comes to issues of my country, I am not for sale, please state here how much commission your so called school pays to you students for bringing a new studenthuhhuh

2) Duration: Common sense is not common, this is a fact Texila University is five (5)years old yet it has done two graduation ceremonies which mean the first set spent three (3)years.

3)population: to this I would allow the news papers do the talking...http://www.guyanatimesgy.com/2014/08/16/texila-american-university-expanding-operations/

4)Accreditation: the highest rated university in Guyana is the University of Guyana .which is regarded to have lost its accreditation for its medical school because it lost its Caribbean medical council accreditation which is worthy of note that the government is working hard to get back by or before the end of this year. which by the way is the main accreditation for the region. texila America university has no accreditation from the Caribbean association of medical council ,a quick look at there website would clearly show you that neither are they registered with the medical council of Guyana.

5)Appointment :Due to the fact you are lacking in home training which is practically unbecoming of an African ,and also strange to Nigerian Parental standards, I would enlighten you at the 5th meeting of prominent personality in the Caribbean from Nigeria which was held September 19th in the beautiful island of Curacao, I was voted to leader the founding phase as coordinator of the Nigerians in the diaspora Caribbean with a mission to produce the constitutional frame work for the organization and to examine where is best suited for the head quarter of what is going to be a meeting point for all Nigerian Associations in the Caribbean, a responsibility which I have worked so hard on and would be delivering on my mandate by or before the expiration of the one year timeline.

6) Family :your closing line is a reflection of the unfortunate nature of humans I had to work with at my time serving as the Vice President of the Nigerian Association in Guyana, a sorry situation where tribalism took front burner over patriotism. even with all obstacles in my way, I manage to co fund the Association in partnership with very distingue gentle men like Mr Obi, Mr Vicent, Mr Nnamdi, Dr obi and pastor Towasha among others, I equally have to my credit the review of the constitution which had not been done in almost twenty years, I equally played a key role in dropping the deportation insurance for Nigerian student in the same texila university ,I encouraged the growth of the Nigerian business community, Assisted student whenever as philanthropic gesture, not to mention opening up communication with the Nigerian Government, the Nigerian Embassy in Trinidad which I am grateful to for there hard work and dedication, just to mention a few of my achievement. All this were achieved under six months.
its should be noted that since my voluntary resignation from the Association, the association went into a steady decline. As of today the Nigeria Association in Guyana has seized existence .
I would indeed appreciate some maturity be shown in the public domain.by having the decency not to bring my wife into an issue that she has no business been in, it should be noted equally that as you can see above my name is clearly spelt out, I do not need to hide because I know what I stand for, while you on the other hand go under a fictitious identity

Thanks

I've been in the Caribbean for sometime now, Guyana to be specific, which is the country you reside. Pardon me if I don't recognize you as a notable figure in the Nigerian community in th Caribbean, i see you as a man who is full of pride, one who can interrupt the procession of Nigerian meeting proceeding .

Jideo4:
Mr Onoja, what a good way to look out for your countries interest and safe guard the effort of th government.
In one particular occasion you were involved in th exchange of blows and physical combat with some Nigerian students here in Guyana during a meeting proceeding because they tried to resist your intention of imposing yourself as the President of the Association. ( What a way to "co-ordinate Nigerians)
As a student of Texila American University which you mentioned, am going to take some time to respond to some point you mentioned.
Firstly, TAU do not produce medical doctors in less than 3 years, get your facts right Mr man. A student with a degree spends 4 and half years in the university ( 2 years for pre-clinical program and the other 2 and half years in clinical program). Those with O'levels or fresh secondary school graduate spend 6 ( 1 and half years for pre med program, 2 years for pre clinical program and 2 and half years for clinical programs). These clinical programs are done in Georgetown public hospital which is a teaching hospital. The University is also affiliated to some teaching hospitals in the Philippine ( Far-Eastern university - Nicanor Reyes medical foundation medical center and Jose Reyes Memorial medical center). I wonder how they could have been affiliated with such medical institute when they are not accredited ( I guess your informant hasn't told you that part of the story' tell him or her to get some new and recent information)
Secondly, TAU is recognized by a the department of education via registration with the national accreditation council of Guyana, it is listed in World Health Organization ( A publicly accessible database of schools, colleges and universities for education of academic professionals in health), it is listed in International Medical Education Directory ( An up-to-date compilation of international medical schools recognized by the appropriate government agency in the medical schools respective country, recognition by ECFMG depends on whether or not the school is listed in this directory) and so on. I think you really need to visit the university personally to get a first hand information on the accreditation status before you talk.
Thirdly, "population of 300"? Hahahahahaa...... Very funny. I wonder when u visited the classes for a head count, I also wonder how u came into the conclusion that the locals don't attend the university, for the love of God my class has noting less than 10 local students. ( Once again you and your informant missed that, next time educate him or her how to recognize locals when he or she sees one, I guess that would be when the management organize a head count for the " Co-ordinator of Nigerians in the caribbean"wink
Well, am done with what I have to say for now, but before I leave, I think I should educate you cus apparently you don't know. Every foreign medical graduate who returns back to Nigeria is tested both practically, orally or otherwise before they are allowed to practice, which we are all aware of and looking forward to prove the worth of the education and certificate we receive here.
I can't stop writhing without mentioning your self acclaimed title " Co-ordinator, Nigerians the in diaspora caribbean". Please who created such office or voted you into that post, was it the present or past administration in Nigeria? Because I've not seen or heard anything like that before
Have a nice day Mr Onoja and merry Xmas to you and yor Guyanese wife who probably got you your visa to Guyana.

this are the facts we cant pretend that some whites are not hostile to Africans, so I would advice that you first of all confirm if he is missing ,dead or killed, by filing a missing persons report because we all know if he was after papers he would have waited three more years to be a citizen rather than taking off with just a green card.so go and file a missing person report.as for the marriage certificate, I would think it is original because the American embassy would have checked it out before approving his papers and yes that document seems like one of the two document been issued but that is not the certificate ,the certificate is a wide paper with both of your details and details of your shorty's .please note both document are issued together

LAjibade:
Hello everyone. I have a question and was hoping you could shed me some light in a matter. I am in America. I went to Nigeria in 2011 and married my husband. I petition for him in 2012 and he arrived to America in 2013. Three months later he left. He is here in America, just not with me. He just left once he received his social security number, his permanent visa and a job in two months of being here. I haven't heard from him nor seen him again. I been wondering for a long time if my marriage to him is valid. In the marriage license it says it expired in 2013. I don't understand that.

Was our marriage set up or arranged to be temporary? I don't really understand Nigerian law or customs concerning marriage. (I am not Nigerian) I know my husband was rushing me to get him here before that expiration date. I am very confused. I also went to the office of public records here in America and they couldn't find any marital records of me and my husband, nothing. On the back of my marriage license issued in Nigeria, there is a website of marriage records, I entered my name and his name and didn't find anything. It just says no records found. Am I married to him or was it all fake? Can you please help me find out? I'd appreciate it. Even if it was all a scam, I still have Nigeria in my heart and will never have anything against Nigeria and Nigerians. Just my husband. Thank you in advance.
