PoliticsGallant Lt. Col Killed Fighting Boko Haram Was Sick, Had Requested A Break From by onoja12(op): 1:18am On Nov 06, 2016
Lt. Colonel Muhammed Abu-Ali was killed in an ambush at Mallam Fatori, a major terrorist strong-hold, by Boko Haram terrorists. His team was ambushed while returning to the battle-font after going for reinforcement.

Lt. Col. Abu Ali was the commanding officer of the 272 Tank Battalion, and reputed to be army’s bravest commanders and fighters engaged in Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram.

Sources had mentioned according to the Press that his murder with four other soldiers was possibly a set-up with insider leaks to the terrorists who had been informed that the Nigerian army had thinned out the lines in the battlefront.

gallant-commander

More sad is the fact that the young soldier who had been promoted for his gallantry and was already a Lieutenant Colonel, had requested to be rotated out of Borno as he had been engaged for four straight years without break. His request was turned down.

Military soldiers are not recommended to spend more than one-year in active battle duty tour according to best practices. While Nigeria’s army are allegedly stretched thin in the battle, four years is “criminally” excessive, military officials told NewsRescue.

Further more, Lt. Col Muhammed had been suffering from near deafness as a result of constant gunfire in the war zone. This however did not help in getting him transferred out and sent for medical attention.

The death of this gallant soldier, husband and father is expected to decrease the morale of Nigerian troops in the battle front.

CultureRe: Igbo Speaking Communities In Kogi State by onoja12: 9:12pm On Nov 04, 2016
For education purposes, this is trash, from the history of the odolu area you would discover that is was an igala general who resided in those areas that formed the make up of those villages, igala is the number one language undisputed especially in Akpanya.igbo is mostly a second language because most of the women married into those community are from enugu and environs this is so that brothers do not marry sister due to the close relationship of everybody and for closing since i know the aim behind this post. let me state that igala land has been reduced to a small state the igalas have once conquered more than half of present day igbo land ,there are many igala speaking tribes in igbo land from delta to anambra and so on .but is most me noted that by marriage the igalas have been made very close to the igbo so much so that the next highest King to the Atta Igala which is the ACHODU has igbo blood

bigfrancis21:
While much is known about the Igbo-speaking communities outside the SE, such as in Benue state (the Umuezekaoha people numbering over 300 villages), in Delta State (the Aniomas), Rivers state (Obigbos, Eches etc.), Akwa Ibom etc., very little is know about the Igbo-speaking communities in Kogi state especially in Ibaji and Igalamela/Odolu LGAs such as the Eke Avurugo community (which speaks Igbo as first language and Igala as second language). Going through the list of Kogi communities found here: http://xa.yimg.com/kq/groups/1249765/1645681001/name/Kogi+East+locailties+working+paper.doc,

one could find a handful of communities which strongly seem to be Igbo communities going by their names, despite the similarities between Igbo and Ibaji Igala names/words,: Ugwuebonyi, Ebokwe, Ozara, Amaeke, Amankpo, Amauwani camp, Amaokwu, Amadiefioha, Amaufulu, etc. all in Igalamela/Odolu LGA. The Odolu community in Igalamela/Odolu LGA is said to speak Igala as first language and the Nsukka Igbo dialect as second language. In Ibaji LGA, we can see some town names such as Nwajala, Umuoye, Ubulie-Umueze which are, most definitely, Igbo community names. One obvious distinguishing factor between Igbo language and Igala is the lack of 'z' in Igala alphabet which is present in Igbo, which possibly rules out an Igala origin for some towns such as Ozara, Umueze etc.

Akpanya is an Igbo-speaking community located deep in the heartland of Igala land. Very little is known about this town. About 95% of the people speak Igbo/are Igbo natives. The town also houses majority of Igbo muslims from Igboland.

Igalaland uses the 4 native Igbo calendar days of Eke, Oye, Afor and Nkwo which are Eke, Ede, Afor and Ukwor in Igala land.

Anyone residing in/close to these areas or living in Kogi to tell us what the situation is on ground?

PS: I have attached below snapshots from the document, highlighting the communities that strongly seem to be Igbo in origin. The ground is open for healthy discussion.

you seem not to get me,his ideas are welcome when serving a nationalistic purpose but when the idea is to serve your personal interest which by the way has been the problem of Nigeria then we should all speak out,His idea is a personal one to serve only his interest,so he shouldn't sugar it up as if he want to serve national interest .the problem with Nigeria is personal greed

Costello559:
If we keep thinking like this, we will always be stagnant.... Moving forward is when we bring ideas together... Not having doubts about people's opinions...

Its left for the government to reason and know whether use the strategy or not...

what sense did he make?what i read is a man who thinks he is so smart, the reality is when others took to investing in refineries ,he stuck to importation ,now other refineries are almost ready he is looking for how to get a monopoly to give him time to build his while at the same time enjoying government money,i got to give it to him he is a smart guy but there is no need for him to worry the free market would sort out the dollar from 2018 private refineries would come on stream and importers like him would be chased out of the market,my advice to him he better gather his money together and head to the east and build his own refinery that would be feed from crude oil in anambra state,so he can control the eastern market and he should delete the thought from his mind that Government would give him money to build when others built with there own money

Costello559:
I saw the video on Facebook... He made sense. .. But will government ever listen or try it? Since there own no dy work.. Not to focus on secondary need of Nigerians

first of all i do not know why people are making noise,Tinubu is the cause of his problem, like they say power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Tinubu was the one who broke the agreement when he attempted to go after Kogi state, did he forget that he shouldn't have crossed into the northhuh?he became power drunk thus people in the north do not trust him any more,i keep hearing tinubu has been sidelines for God sake how do you tell me that the man who picked the vice President plus some ministers can be side line,i think Tinubu want to become a God father of some sort for the hole Nigeria but he is about to learn that in Nigeria every region has its on power block because you have become a leading light in the south west doesn't mean you would be accepted in the north,he rather should have turned his eyes to the south south and south east rather than the north, and to be fair i doubt he can take control of either the south south or the south east

first i am not an English man so i wouldn't make deliberate effort to write the best English, second please show me one white pastor who is not a politician, just in case you do not know much about religion let me educate you it has always been politics since the day the church was formed .third the concept of religion in the first place is all about debauchery as you call it and spiritism. as for your last line you my friend speak like a slave,if not you cant claim to be African and be a christian,Christianity is not African but a concept which the white use to keep you in slavery,if you claim to be an African then your religion should be traditionalism

freakyben:
you cannot even spell 'quiet". African pastors are worse. look all of them are into politics. many have been caught engaging in debauchery and spiritism. is pathetic cos' people like you worship them. Truly you cannot question any of them cos of the lordship placed on them. presidents even kneel at their feet and they accept it. When African religion has been infused into Christianity.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Seriously Hungry Nation, Says Human Development Index by onoja12: 4:36am On Sep 11, 2016
total rubbish, fabricated statistics from people who want to sale GMO

tectonotimes:
With the current exchange rates, 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1 per day. Too few Nigerians are able to obtain enough food to live healthy and productive lives, so it is no surprise Nigeria is ranked the 14th most hungry nation out of 119 countries and 152nd out of 187 on the 2015 UNDP Human Development Index (HDI).

With a Global Hunger Index (GHI) score of 32.8, which is only a marginal improvement over the last decade, Nigeria has steadily plunged in its GHI scores since 1990. The severity of hunger in the country remains serious as the nation failed to fulfill its commitment to the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of halving hunger by 2015.

Nigerians are rated as “seriously” hungry, by the 2015 GHI because of low scores in the four most crucial indicators of undernourishment, child stunting, child wasting, and child mortality, Worse still, the 2016 Report of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) reveals that 7 per cent of the Nigerian population is undernourished and that the prevalence of wasting and stunting in children under five years of age are 18 per cent and 36.4 per cent respectively.

But these figures do not tell the entire story. Hunger, as defined by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, is identified as food deprivation, undernourishment (or consumption of fewer than 1,800 kilocalories a day, which is the minimum that most people require to live a healthy and productive life). Exacerbated by poverty, the effects of hunger are reflected in high rates of diseases and mortality, limited neurological development and low productivity.

Hunger, poverty and disease are interlinked, with each contributing to the presence and persistence of the other. Hunger is a major constraint to the country’s development economically, socially, and politically; the poorer, the hungrier. The way forward is clear. Investment is essential for agricultural research and rural development in partnership with the private sector and civil society. Provision for good nutrition and education must be accepted as a long-term investment. Having an explicit hunger target as a priority development goal is desirable. The specific reference to food security, hunger and the importance of agriculture on the global agenda is a sign of increased political sensitivity towards these important issues.

Hence, Nigeria must invest more in nutrition and food production. It is easily within the nation’s capacity to eradicate poverty and hunger in a short period of time. However, political will is paramount. Eradication of hunger is an objective that must be addressed directly. Fighting hunger is an investment that produces high returns in growth and overall welfare. The fight against hunger in Nigeria must begin in earnest.
