TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by onuawuchi: 7:32am On Sep 10, 2021
All,

I'm looking to apply for a Visit visa for my mother. I live in the US and can take of her expenses. I understand appointment available goes upto 2024. Is there a way I can get her a sooner date when I apply? Also how do I get started on the application process.

Thanks

While working as a teller in commercial bank I paid all my savings in shortage. Thank God I left the job.

My honest advice to him is to look for another job, cos it won't stop happening. That job is not worth it , trust me

Houston poe is kind of hard but again if you have done nothing wrong it's gonna be safe passage
Brother, I sent you a PM.

My stop is also in Houston. In addition to the concern Efizzy 22 raised, will carrying other documents apart from the ones required by the CBP at POE create problems?

Wow! My options keeps widening and getting confusing. I just got admitted into my first choice university after waiting forever for their admission decision. God has been amazingly good to me this year. #UniversityofUtah

Hi. Just an inquiry, and not an answer to your question: what department did you apply to? I have an admit from Michigan Tech, but it is unfunded.
Applied Natural Resource Economics

I went through your posts and noticed you carefully did not disclose the school or the program you'll be attending. I hope my openness changes that orientation .

Nice day

No, you must attend Middle Tennessee State for one semester before transferring to M. Tech. Your visa approval documents were based on MTSU

Thanks brother.

The assistants are rolling in but they're kinda late. Michigan Tech just offered me a GA to cover half my tuition with salary ( stipend). Now I already have my visa with MTSU with little amount for scholarship. I'll like to know if it's possible to transfer to M. Tech without doing any semester at Middle Tennessee State huh

I think it will be very unfair if I don't share this testimony here too. I was a member here for close to a year. I got admit with Lakehead University to study a master's degree but was denied the visa twice. One in 2013 and another one in 2014. But just this morning I got my study visa to the US. One of the words that kept my hope alive is a regular quote here : if it's in our hearts God will some day put it in our hands.

I hope I did encourage someone
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by onuawuchi: 10:29am On Jun 02, 2015
I got my f1 visa today. Honestly, I can't remember the conversation that transpired between me and the officer (the Chinese at window 1). All I remember was that I forgot ALL I prepared for the interview and said a lot that was off. Nevertheless, the man issued me a visa. Since I can't remember, I am going to state my profile as it appears on my DS 160:

1. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2005 with a BSC in Economics

2. Since then I've worked with a commercial bank as a contract staff (since it was difficult for to get into mainstream) and later as a real estate agent when I lost that job.

3. I applied to 7 universities ( 2 in UK and 5 in US) : I chose MTSU for an MA in Economics

4. I have my elder brother as my sponsor. He resides in Katy, Texas

5. I am still single at 34.

Even though I was very confident about my visa before the interview, cos I practiced for months, but when the actual conversation started and lost my footing, I concluded in my heart I wasn't going to get it but lo and behold, he issued me.

MY THOUGHT:

- If you have genuine intentions of going to school, there is a very high chance you'll get your visa approved.

- For those whose profile looks like mine and you are sure of 1 above please get all the advice you can here from the gurus, you will get it.

- Document is key. Take time to prepare your documents from university applications to visa application. It shows your level of organisation and portrays you are student who is meticulous. Be consistent with the information you provide when filling your forms.

- please say the truth. I think they now show preference to people who are truthful. He was surprise when I told him 34. He thought me to be younger than 34. At that time I sense he saw my sincerity, even though I was shaking and speech was not coordinated. And if you have a relative in the US please don't hide it. That information may be the difference between your visa approval and denial.

-Be excited about what you're going to the US to do. Read about, watch it on YouTube, join Facebook groups for it, in that way you won't struggle with questions when they come, as I saw a lot of people do today.

-Finally, God. When the Lord says it's your time, No man will stop you. I was denied a UK study in 2009. Denied Canadian visa twice, one in 2013 and another in 2014.

I know that some people may ask why am so excited about visa people get every day without sweat. My excitement is about the lesson that follow :

A. God is able to do all things

B. It is not over when we fail, but it is when we quit

I hope this helps someone!

I just received an offer of scholarship of a (meager) sum of $4k. I want to know if it's really worth mentioning during visa interview, since I can show my sponsor is able to take care of the full cost of my education?

No brother. It was limited for my department. They were only able to fund two persons at the masters level
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by onuawuchi: 10:42am On May 21, 2015
I have already booked interview date with MTSU, but now I'm thinking of switching to Michigan Tech (got admitted to both), because of the relatively better ranking and to raise my chance for visa. However, the program I will be attending is ranked higher at MTSU than MTU. Don't know if the VO will be aware of the details of program ranking or their focus is purely on how the schools rank?

Another issue that keeps giving me concern is my study gap. I completed my undergraduate studies in 2005. I hope this doesn't lead me on a wild goose chase.

Response will be very much appreciated

People I need your contributions. There are two major conditions I perceive will be the weakness of my application and they're seriously giving me concern.

1. My education gap: I completed my undergraduate studies in 2005. Though I have been working since 2008. I'm anticipating lots of questions coming from the VO as regards my long time away from academics.
2. Sponsor: My elder brother will be funding my education, but he has a permanent residency status in the US.

I just want to know how best to approach my interviewer to make my study intentions very clear and unambiguous. And how to prove quickly within the 3,4 mins of interview that I will leave at the completion of my studies huh I notice they hardly request for documents

Thats the most important thing. Is your school in same state with your uncle?

Don't worry, that might now show immigrant intent even that's a mark.
No brother. I deliberately avoided his state. All the schools I applied to non is where he resides. Bros when u say that's a mark. I want know what exactly u mean by that. You've been outstandingly supportive here. Multiple blessings for u
