Preaching unity and end of insecurity but refusing political restructuring of Nigeria is like speaking from two ends of one's mouth; hypocrisy at its best.
Northern military dictators proliferated undue large number of states with accruing undue large number of legislative seats in the old Northern region.
Today, northerners ask southerners to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring of Nigeria knowing full well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by northern legislators who will vote against equitable political restructuring of Nigeria.

Owerri is related to Ikwerre in Rivers state.
Guess why Owerri doesn't allow any government thing in Imo state to be located outside Owerri. Because Owerri people believe that no relatiinship between Owerri and Orlu may at one point in future, lead to carving Orlu out of Imo state for a new state. It nearly happened in 2007 when Njaba State was recommended to be carved out of Imo state.

It's difficult to see why political restructuring of Nigeria has not been the number one agenda for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu crisscrossed the SW region for more than twelve years agitating for political restructuring of Nigeria.

The extant political structure of 20 states in the old Northern region but only 17 states in the old two southern regions is a fraud created by northern military dictators to politically over-empower the north against the two southern regions, as well as channel more oil revenues to the northern region.
The one federal police formation for all Nigeria has bred criminality all over the country.

Because the northerners knew very well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by Arewa legislators who would vote down any political restructuring that will be different from the existing political structure and governance system created by northern military dictators.

Because of a presidential candidate must win 25% of votes in 2/3 (24 states) of the number of states in Nigeria.
North already has 20 states where any presidential candidate can comfortably win 25% of votes in them.
This proliferation of 20 mostly non viable states in the old Northern region gave absolute electoral powers to the north.

The present skewed and lopsided political structure of 20 states in one region - north; but only 17 states for the two southern regions, is fraud. This fraudulent political structure created by northern military dictators is what gives northern people the political over-representation in the NASS, FEC, Council of States, and indeed in every political gathering of Nigerians from the 36 states and Abuja political structure.

In a country formed by different regions, land mass or population figures are not used as criterion in creating new federating units in any part of the country.

The 12 northern Sharia states used adoption of unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system to spite then president Obasanjo. The sharia states literally created a boundary for a sovereign country for those Arewa states.
Their action spiked separatist groups in the south.

I take an exception to your useless comment. Lagos has nothing on PH. Do not brag with the lopsided federal system that Nigeria practices that has unnecessarily favored Lagos ahead of Rivers state.

There are no natural resources in Lagos with which the massive infrastructures were built with, but primarily with resources from Niger Delta of which Rivers state contributed.

You have seaports in Lagos, we have in Rivers.
You have airports, we have in Rivers.
Lagos is the western Railway terminal hq, Rivers is eastern railway terminal hq.
