fergie001: The Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), via its Twitter handle, announced that another 424 stranded Nigerians in Saudi Arabia today arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja via Saudi Air Flight at about 11:58 am local time today 29th January 2021.
NIDCOM
No fewer than 384 Nigerians arrived Abuja on Thursday January 28, 2021 following their evacuation from Saudi Arabia.
The evacuation comes after a video emerged on social media on the 22nd of January where some Nigerians were been detained over expired visas. In the video the Nigerians appealed to the Nigerian Government to be brought back home.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had disclosed on Wednesday that 802 Nigerians are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th of January 2021 from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
"They will be quarantined at the FCT Hajj camp for a period of fourteen (14) days in line with established COVID-19 protocols. Thereafter, the Ministry will facilitate their movement to their respective destinations," the statement said.
However, it took a different turn today, when the evacuees rejected the plan to quarantine them.
TVC They refuse quarantine while Nigerians from Europe and North America are subjected to embarrassing Covid -19 protocols on arrival in Nigeria. |

beejayodus: That must have been the time Obasanjo and TY Danjuma, his minister of defence, purged the military of coupists. Obasanjo retired all military men back then who had held a political appointment. Buratai probably was a military assistant or ADC to a senior officer who was in a political position when the military was in power. So many officers' career was cut short back then. I remember Brig-Gen Agbofa saying he was in tears when Obj retired him after he served as principal secretary to Abdulsalam Abubakar. He said it was his dream to become a Maj-Gen and head the Signal corps. Buratai was lucky. From being nearly retired as a middle -ranked officer to climbing up the career ladder to head the Army. Some much more brilliant and gallant officers than him didn't get this chance. But Obasanjo failed to restructure Nigeria politically, away from the present roguish 19 states and Abuja in one northern region, but only 17 states in the two southern regions. The roguish political structure enables Arewa own Nigeria and tell us Nigeria is a democracy, whereas, what we have is a false democracy controlled by Arewa through undue large political over-representation at the central government. |
Politics › Re: Buratai: Obasanjo Nearly Retired Me From Service 22 Years Ago by onuman: 7:27pm On Jan 28, 2021 |
It’s no duty of the Armed Forces to defend a country’s democracy. Stop your poor education you are impacting on your successors in the armed forces.
Democracy is defended by democratic institutions and internal mechanisms of a just democratic process; whereas the armed forces protect the territorial integrity of a country.
Nigeria’s democracy is a farce, that’s why you think you are using force to protect it.
PMB also said that the armed forces have been defending Nigeria’s democracy since 1999. He also had a wrong perception of democracy, like you.
Try as you can, you can’t succeed in forcing this false democracy and roguish political structure upon Nigerians any further. |

I blame Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria's petroleum minister for his silly attempt to short change the communities. [The 13% from derivation given to oil producing states makes some states richer than others; it must stop]. This has been the agitation of northern states since 13% was instituted during the OBJ administration. |

Such a country with regional sub-military outfits is as good as a divided country.
