Tim

Those are nice (they are not china made, they are malaysia made). Next time, you wait till you get here, then check out LOP and Wranglers in VI. You will get the original factory ones.

From the pricing, they are Grade A afters ( dont take it the wrong way, they are original parts but not rolled out or assembled from the designers' factories ) feel?

Pay your balance when the car comes in, then we meet on the re.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 5:42pm On Dec 14, 2010
@Tim
I know you are eager to show me your school results smiley

But lets face the facts here (still the same). You cant threaten German by asking for his home address, also you need to understand that its your obligation to close/complete the transaction.

You talked about your "daddy" spending money on the "case" and I told you that for German, I will gladly work on his side too.

So, its still the same ol, wait for your car or bring it on. But generally im sure you wont be angry when we meet in person.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 5:19pm On Dec 14, 2010
Tim, you dont have a mind of paying that money.

What you can do is appeal openly and someone, anothet dealer or even 007 will simply volunteer to buy off the deal from 007 and you will be paid off. Not by trying to mess with an es stablished name. Its not right.

There are mature ways of handling issues. Let the vehicle come, raise money, pay the balance (close the deal) then put it for sale ( maybe Ayusman can help you sell it)

German has already offered you a loaner ( as he has always been doing).

German007 is a very hardworking, straightforward and cool guy. So its only fair to go all out on his stance
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 5:12pm On Dec 14, 2010
@Dargly
I feel you on this one BUT we need to know that its wrong to burst on a few days delay and try to tarnish a business name because you cannot pay a balance, because im telling you thats whats going on.

Im not a car dealer, I buy on nairaland too and ive seen that in most cases, this pre-order thing has risks that goes both ways on both the buyer and dealer. We need to consider the dealers too. Its their money too.

Ayusman, I have no business with you directly, the only reason we waited at Banix for you and/or your friend was to try and meet to sort issues based on your friwnd's mature gesture ( although you never showed up that day)
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 5:01pm On Dec 14, 2010
@Netotse
Ayusman is not new to me on this thing he is foing; he did it on "behalf of his friend" with banix, eventually his "friend" went to Banix to apoligize and denied knowing Ayusman or his internet moves.

Few days later I saw cars advertised by the same Ayusman. Its all good but it doesnt pay to ruin a name to try and get one.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 4:52pm On Dec 14, 2010
Let the vehicle come and you dont pay the balance, then you know whats up. I say you are trying to avoid paying the balance and that you have criminal intentions in this transaction. Its in English, not spanish.

Meanwhile, dont buff up on snuffing someone for money, its never worth it, but just watch what you type.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 4:33pm On Dec 14, 2010
I think dealers should be careful who they do this pre-order thing with.

They too should screen tge potential buyer and be sure he or she can be up to making the balance payment.

The mess has been viewed for too long from the buyers' angle, I think its time to check this from the other side too.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 4:25pm On Dec 14, 2010
@ Ireneann
You are a very smart person, and I respect that a lot. I have always known and said it that the dealers in 60% cases need more protection than the "buyers". I have known the guy is just a broke-ass who does not have money to balance German on the order.

@Tim
You must pay that money when the car arrives, im ready to have you looked for both here in Nigeria and in Boston (just in case you think you can talk trash and walk), boasting of a car that costs less than a wrist watch.

If you dont pay that balance when the vehicle comes in, (depending on what German wants), the delivery details is what will be used to have whoever wants to represent you picked up.

And by the way, im offering to fo this FREE for German007 or any other dealer that falls victim to a scum scam like you.

And dont even think you cant be reached. If your business is with German, then listen to advise and do the right thing, but if you feel you can defraud a hard working young man, then you have just made yourself a target, and by talking trash you just done the switching.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 2:48pm On Dec 14, 2010
The guy has to wait for his car and the fact is that he has no other choice.

The refund thing is simple; once the car comes in, it is delivered to the police with all the documents and then once any buyer comes, he or she goes to the Police for the raps. Usually it takes about a year plus to get it all sorted out, plus the police will take their charges for custody, "case handling", protection, etc.

The beauty of this is that once the Police takes custody, German has no business with the schoolboy anymore.

Its a nice solution for someone who wont be patient. And I will be delighted to console German by making the necessary arrangements for that.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 10:05am On Dec 14, 2010
Just in case you are getting it wrong, you and you "daddy" need to go sit down and get some education on transactions and documentations, especially on the legal (case) part of it.

What you think yourself and your daddy will "spend" on this "case" is what some people will throw just to register a case in the right places. You must have been out of Nigeria for too long.

Well, whatever you decide; my first advise yo you is to keep your cool, wait for your ride and enjoy your stay in Nigeria, and my second opinion to you IF you fail to be patient is to make sure you have loads of that money because you will need it to collect your car from where it is going once the jump has started.

Its better you dont start what you cant finish.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 9:42am On Dec 14, 2010
Ayusman, so now you are a dealer on behalf of your friend. Wow, thats a new one.

Anyways, part of why Im standing for German is exactly what you are seeing him do. He always comes through and correct.

The guy's ride is truly stunning but that dont mean he should take it out of context and overstep. You know the big dogs are always watching smiley
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 9:24am On Dec 14, 2010
Ayusman, after that thing with Banix, I found out that you immediately started advertising some cars - its not a good tactics to get into the business by trying to ruin others; it always backfires.

Back to this; a lot of us are so caught up in using services that we don't even bother spending an hour to think about how this services are provisioned.

Sometimes in the past, I had to supply some satellite phones to a client and had just 3 days delay with the shipper, he told me to meet him at NAHCO which I did and after just staying there with him for 30 minutes, I realized that anything logistics plus paperwork can be a breeze and can be a nightmare (its beyond bribe or anything) - I left and never called him back until he brought them to me.

I will stand for a straight forward dealer anytime anyday, because its not easy what they do, and we need to encourage and appreciate them.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 9:09am On Dec 14, 2010
This is Timo's thread so I will let it ride a little on his outburst BUT since he is addressing it to nairaland.com, then I think its only right I come correct and let him know what I think;

The dealer has made you understand here that its a logistics issue which you are not disputing and which (except you live in Afghanistan or Gaza - where even this still happens), you will know that this is a normal but painful experience that happens.

I have had to order (through orderbay) for vehicle parts and electronics that cost more than that your honda and it took over a month beyond the ETA to come in, but it still did and it was also something that had to do with backlog shipping problem. It was critical for me at that time because two of my vehicles couldn't function because of those items.

Don't make it look like there is something else going on here and try tarnishing a good guy's image (which you can't anyways). You have heard someone say he delivered his wife's 08 Camry without stories and paying him millions before even meeting him.

He has even told you he'll provide you with an alternative loaner till your unit arrives. The way you are on and on about this 50k and 100k is begining to make me feel you are trying to be funny.

I think you need to relax and wait for your honda to arrive and stop all this raps . . sounding like you ordered a Maybach or something

Or is there something you are not telling us?
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 12:44am On Dec 14, 2010
Good guy, I know you would always come through. Sorry about your younger brother. Real sad.

Mr. Tim, I hope you understand it was completely a logistics issue, this is typical of businesses that are basically 90% physical logistics and 5% paper work.
Autos / Re: Issue sorted, miix-up occured by Onwan: 11:52pm On Dec 13, 2010
It will be nice to hear from German007 on this issue before saying anything yet. I have spoken with him on a few occasions and from the consistency in his dealings on nairaland.com, I see him and regard him as a reasonable and considerate businessman.

Like I said (speaking for myself), I would like to hear his own side of the story.
Autos / Re: Bmw Sales Figure Rises. by Onwan: 11:36pm On Dec 13, 2010
@ Chanceman

I think the difference will be clearer if you drive the 5 series and then the 7 series, that's of course apart from their distinct physical designs.

The mercedes for a while (or let me say all these while) kept a similar lineup with distinct and unique designs for each model until the CL and CLK started looking 80% alike and sharing parts, then GL and GLK?, then CLS?, then A class, B class?, R class?, I'm sure if not for nissan, there will be a Z class - did I hear that exists as a van?

Some confusion right there.

The only dedicated coupe running till date in the BMW lineup is the 6 series (that's apart from the recreational Z series), its like no other in their lineup and that's why they can concentrate and focus on optimizing it.
Autos / Re: Bmw Sales Figure Rises. by Onwan: 4:02pm On Dec 13, 2010
This is really good news. I'm happy for BMW. They are gifted in designing very comfortable automobiles with very serious considerations for ride quality.

You can see what they did to Rolls Royce with the Phantom - they practically put that name back on the road without any compromise for the build our ride quality. Literally making it better than what it was. And that design and concept continues even till date with the Rolls Royce Ghost and the phantom coupe.

Same thing they did to the then dying Land Rover Range Rover with the 2003/2004 break out design, that restored the Range Rover back to the top of its class.

They are amazing, and I can see the edge, especially now that Mercedes Benz had lost focus; with all kinds of class (a, b, c, d, e, f ,  down to z class) unnecessarily expensive and also costing so much for minor repairs. People are even confused about what model and what really differentiates the models (for instance the new S and E classes). I think the only mercedes that uniquely makes sense now is the Maybach.

I hope BMW invests in a proper SUV. The X5 is a hit and a masterpiece BUT is still a crossover (actually, like a blend of the Range Rover HSE and the 5 series)

They make the ultimate driving machines.
Autos / Re: Can A Fan Readjusted To Run Direct With Engine Cause Fuel Consumption? by Onwan: 9:56am On Dec 06, 2010
The fuel consumption can be optimised at full load (usually with the AC on ) by some adjustments on the throttle body BUT should be done IF necessary AND by an experienced mechanic.

Your case however, first of all, that welding of the fan directly to the engine hub is not a good thing at all because my experience has thought me that its better to let the vehicle regulate in the way it is built, then IF an overheating happens, you can look into the cause (usually a leakage or bloackage in the cooling system OR the radiator). I tried that fan thing with my 4Runner and after a while, the welded bits fell off by themselves and the vehicle never had any overheating problem (even in the first place). Our mechanics always look for ways of complicating issues.

My advise, have them remove the welding on the fan (Im assuming that was how they made it permanent), then look for the cause of your high fuel consumption (That ranges from air filtering system to probably tampered throttle body setting).

You can call Yinka on 080 2558 3908, he should be able to help you with e the setting (But please let the fan run as built from factory)

Buy the car that feels like u, or better yet; makes u feel like a million bucks.
Opinions are like noses everyone has one, and they all have holes in them.
My opinion- an ML is a bit masculine.

Very true. Those things are a matter of what the lady likes.

I just personally thought the ML was a feminine ride. Its more of a wife and kids ride. I think its a good pick for the OP. I would not advise the Sunny based on our roads.

there was some water in the tank , do u have any recommendation for a person who does good injector servicing ?

thx
Since there was water in the tank then there are to things you should know;
1. The fuel pump has to be changed
2. The engine ( not just the tank) has to be drained to remove the remaining water.

If you read my first post, I changed the pump twice (apart from the original one that came with the ride) the reason was that after changing the first one, the remaining water in the engine found it's way back to the tank through the return pipe, damaging the fuel pump.

So, you will need to
1. Clean out water from the tank ( again - you will see it there)
2. Change the fuel pump
3. Drain the engine of the remaining water ( this can be done at the same time with bleeding the injector too)

The water has to be removed completely before fitting the new pump, filter.

It's unfortunate most fuel stations have this water problem especially during this rainy season and vehicle owners have to pay for it all.

Call Yinka on 080 2558 3908. If distance is not an issue he will help you out, and his charges are very very considerate.

An update on what I have done : cleaned out my fuel tank and sprayed the injector with some cleaner , but the performance it more or less the same ,  the LTFT is still hovering around the mid + 20 s .

I guess i would have to go for proper injector cleaning next .

any other advice ?

thx

Smart move as recommended. Was there any water in your tank? You should also have the new pump checked for pressure. It's important you know that a part being new does not make it 100%; especially with fake parts everywhere. Same goes for the MAF.
Autos / Re: . by Onwan: 11:17am On Oct 22, 2010
At times the dirt in the fuel tank can block even a new in-tank fuel filter, it wont be a bad idea to just check it. It is detatchable and can be bought separate from the fuel pump.

Also water - this rainy season, I have had a very bad experience at a filling station (A new one for that matter) and ended up draining a total of about 40 Litres OF WATER out of my tank and after the third trial, out the engine too. It was on a Sunday, I bought 5K fuel into an SUV and that cost be 3 fuel pumps (Toks), some change and a lot of time. So you never know.
