Basically from the things you have done, it appears you have exhausted all the recommended troubleshooting areas BUT from what I can see, it still boils down to a Fuel Injector blockage OR the air Induction system, BUT I will stick to the Fuel Injector blockage seriously (Since you have changed the air filter), I recommend you look into these few steps;

1. Injector cleaning - You can have them bleed the injector and thoroughly have it cleaned to free it of any clogging. I recommend also an Injector cleaner emptied (per instruction) into your tank

2. Check your fuel filter - confirm IF its the recommended type for your ride (You need to do some online search for the best for your brand/model and possible experiences)

3. Check this out - http://mr2.phpwerx.net/manuals/2007%20camry%202gr-fe/2GR-FE%20ENGINE%20CONTROL%20SYSTEM_%20SFI%20SYSTEM_%20P0171_%20System%20Too%20Lean%20%28Bank%201%29%20%282007%20Camry%29.pdf

Hope this helps.
Autos / Re: I Need Your Advice My Eod 2004 Engine Shortens Engine Oil by Onwan: 10:09pm On Oct 17, 2010
IF the oil change does not make any difference, then I think you should have your mechanic do a thorough check for oil leaks. You can also ask them to remove all the spark plugs so you can check IF there is any oil leak in the spark plug wells (This will mean the plugs coming out with some oil on them).

The sensor you adjusted (from the picture appears like the one on the throttle body) Its effect has more to do with the fuel consumption than with the engine oil.

ayusman16:

i dnt knw banix and certainly do not av issues with him or his business. Am not a car dealer 4 now but who knows. I am just a straight Nigerian who believes d wrong done can be corrected. D purpose of dis thread is to get banix 2 do what he shld av earlier done as a credible dealer when dis problem ws mentioned 2 him d first time and also 4 him 2 accept or deny dat he knew abt d state of d car b4 selling. I sincerely hope something positive comes out of dis.

It has already, majorly that; Its not always on the dealer's side, the buyer also has responsibilities apart from having the money to buy the car, also It makes more sense to let the individual involved state the facts and not stories from 3rd parties.

For wrong and right? its a matter of opinion and the opinion that counts here is that of the buyer, who went to Banix with his mechanic and folks to confirm vehicle's documents' legitimacy and paid cash and drove off, and is now asking his dealer (who he knows) to help him get people who will restore his vehicle back to the condition it was when he picked it off (after experiencing greedy and incompetent mechanics).

I can relate with him because he has denied the 300k claim and the thread discrediting Banix.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 1:16pm On Oct 11, 2010
I know that once there are competent mechanics recommended, the things will be sorted out and the guy will only pay a fraction of what he had been wasting and wont waste any time.

The owner of the car doesnt seem to consider any of this a big deal and by saying he never told Ayusman16 he spent that amount clearly shows that he is not in anyway panicky or having problems with Banix (He even appreciates Banix getting him the right person to look into the problem the other person created by fiddling) . I think this thread actually not only exaggerated the situation BUT paints a very untrue picture of whatever happened. Its more of a waste of Internet time.

I think Ayusman16 has personal issues (and maybe with Banix too). I also think its all bull until the real owner has anything to say contrary to what Banix has said.

@OP
When you had the oil seal changed did you also change the oil and oil filter ? (5w-30 recommended), Thats of course IF you are sure there is no oil leak.

One place you should also look is the spark plug well. Typically when they remove the plugs, you should check to see IF there is oil on it. There are other places too. I can recommend a mechanic for you though.

Relax OP, Skybunk is obviously skyHIGH right now and he is thinking Fela will answer the question.

Actually those cars are NOT exactly in the same world BUT it shows you have some good taste in vehicles BUT If you must buy the Avalon, you should take it to the max. and get the 00/01 Lexus ES or GS, its about the same budget for the toks and it gives you the comfort you would be needing for that class.

For the Mercedes, considering the specified year, I think the C Class fits in properly as the E Class might appear bogous.

Comparing the two now, In terms of maintenance, you will be running the two at the same average cost - even though the engine size will determine the fuel consumption, the parts are basically going to cost the same ( The C Class might be a bit more expensive though). In terms of luxury - The lexus (Or the Avalon) beats the mechanical interior of the C-Class (At least for that model).

But for ruggedness, the Mercedes is your car. So it depends on what you really want - Flash or Substance. I would go for the Benz (For substance).

Let the real buyer come online, because he is calling you a liar - At least from what Banix has told us.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 9:04am On Oct 11, 2010
Like I said, it's all your own conclusion, my findings is that the real buyers don't make noise - just like in this case. It's mostly the empty barrels that make noise.

If anyone sees a car they like on nairaland.com, any other auto trade site or on the road side, no matter how fine or "clean" it is, they usually research and go with a competent/reliable mechanic OR push that responsibility to the dealer (so they can simply shift it off) before buying.

It's a normal practice and most importantly, people know that mechanics can either fix your car or put it in a condition that it will need a fix.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 8:31am On Oct 11, 2010
I think it's time for the real buyer to come online, IF there is anything that Banix has said that is not true.

From what Banix has been saying, it appears there is no proper communication and coordination between between the Ayusman16 and his friend. But I know that Banix would help him with a straight mechanic that will give him a fix and a decent bill.

@T0kumb0

I have spoken with Ayusman16, he is decent but just doesn't have a 3rd party view of the whole situation and the thread crowded him more.

You should also know that you can only be sure of your own conclusion on Banix and can't tell for anyone else. Banix Is a certified dealer and not a phone number/email only hustler. And I can even tell you straight that except you have bought a car from him, your opinion is for yourself. People will still buy from him. REGARDLESS.
Car Talk / Re: My Car Is Consuming Water At A Rapid Rate by Onwan: 10:46pm On Oct 10, 2010
Definately a leak somewhere. It must have been there all this while BUT got worse now and thats why the draining is rapid.

I'll suggest you go for a test on the cooling system, from hose to radiator. You might want to run the car without AC on your own so you can see the coolant dropping off and not mistake it for the AC water.

And your temperature guage too.

@Banix
Its good to know you have confirmed what I already suspected and actually know. Keep up the good work and deal as straight as you have been. Of course there are bound to be distractions BUT like you should know, empty barrels will always make the loudest babbling.

Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 3:39pm On Oct 10, 2010
Even some brand new vehicles are not 100%. The fact is that if someone is a total novice, the person should do some research before buying a car.

That is why there are such things called inspections and test drives.

I also think the buyer should have gotten a mechanic recommended by Banix upon purchase since he did not know about cars then he would have had a smooth purchase and would have been told what he would need to replace or repair before buying, that way he would have made up his mind on a real and it would have been Banix's business entirely.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 11:01am On Oct 09, 2010
@Ayusman16
Like I told you on the phone, you also failed your friend by leaving him on the car thing knowing he has no clue on cars and it's his first.

You told me the same mechanic that certified the car told your friend the next day that the engine has "knocked" just because the car wouldnt start BUT you now called another mechanic, who only touched wires and the car started; these tells you the original mechanic had just one thing in mind - $$.

And for Banix, I am still telling you it has nothing to do with him. Go to Owode, you will see accident and write-off salvage Hummer H2, H3, Touareg, Landcruisers going for millions, its up to you to bring your mechanic to buy as parts, for parts or for repairs, the seller puts it up, a buyer buys.

Like I told you on the phone, if Banix provided the mechanic, then I can tell you that he should bear the whole responsibility (and he would) but in a case where you brought your own mechanic and test drove the vehicle and certified it before driving it off, whatever is straight on you.

Is it impossible that your friend (being his first car) did hit a bump or run over one that pulled the shaft off? - it happens everyday with those toys.
And in case you did not know, you can run into a bump in that Honda and it will affect your transmission (it happens with Toyota Camries too) - minor fix though.

I still maintain my point that you have to be well researched on your choice vehicle and have a mechanic (that will work under you) before you pay for a ride. Tokumbo, used or brand new.

Banix (definately)probably knew the TRUE state of d car however good or bad b4 purchase. He helpd someone else sell off d car. Aye's friend has raked up "300k" in repairs from various mechanics and car still doesn't work even after a "certified" checkup and test drivesssss prior 2 purchase

What exactly do hope 2 achieve by opening dis thread?

Funny how mechanics will rip people off and get away with it; next thing you know, the mechanic will offer the owner 450k for the car.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 1:43pm On Oct 08, 2010
The thing is that, it's not his direct transaction/experience and he is only going about it the way he can BUT I understand that once you do not have any knowledge about a car and you take it to a mechanic (most mechanics), they don't see you, they see a bank.

I think issues are best resolved by voice or face-to-face and not online. When I spoke with Ayusman16, we both understood what we were saying to each other and only understood that the guy had been duped by his own mechanic;

1. He okayed a car for purchase
2. Second day he tells you the engine has knocked because it would not start ( like 100k in mind), Ayusman now called someone else who only touched some wires and the car started. So the engine did not knock after all ( that's another plot for like 120k).
3. He did not even tell the buyer that he needs to change the front arms on purchase - which is what any Honda user knows is the first point of vulnerability with used or even tokumbo Honda an Acura cars

It's always good to be well researched before putting down paper on any kind of vehicle.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 11:27am On Oct 08, 2010
@Netotse
Well, I spoke with Ayusman16 and he confirmed My questions. It's a pity the buyer fell for a bad mechanic; it was the mechanic that gave them the list of 300k, it is the buyer's first car and he does not know anything about cars or how to handle those dubious mechanics (which is a marker for them)

He confirmed that upon alert, Banix called his friend (who at that time probably did not know about the thread) denied that he did not know anything about the thread.

The thing is that, these days, mechanics are more of part sellers and dealers (they condemn your car and pay you peanuts for it) than they are technicians. Banix did not provide the mechanic, the buyer brought one and the guy okayed the vehicle knowing he was going to make a kill from it.

Banix like most dealers don't own those vehicles (except the tokumbo ones) and for those Nigerian used, the real owners live or work around Alausa and he has to make arrangements for inspection, hence why he usually asks intending buyers to come with their mechanics but one thing he ensures is the DOCUMENTS AND OWNERSHIP TITLE OF THESE VEHICLES.

In my opinion, that's the dealers' job, the rest is up to the buyer.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 9:17am On Oct 08, 2010
@ayusman
Just mention when you will be going to Banix with your invisible friend so we can have it sorted out the proper way.

Basically, for some people in life, the best answer for them is silence regardless of what they say - because at the end of the day it's all blabbing.

I have no direct issues with Ayusman, I only wish his friend will come out and state the facts or mention when he is going to Banix. And the questions are still the same;

1. Did you go to Banix with your mechanic?
2. Did you or/and your mechanic test drive the car?
3. Did your mechanic okay the vehicle before the car was bought?
4. Did you drive the car to your place or did Banix deliver it to your place?

I know Banix, you I don't, so Its right yup answer this simple questions.

@Martharus
I don't drive Hondas, and I believe the car was made lemon by the mechanic who capitalized on the buyers exctitement of a new car and lack of knowledge.

I'm still saying exactly the same thing. I think the buyer is better of coming to nairaland.com to ask for references for good mechanics.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 12:54am On Oct 08, 2010
People flood his place with cars for sale or trade, I've been there and I know that for sure. When I enquirer about the EOD, he told me he had sold like 4 in the past 2 months and confirmed he called the last buyer who was introduced by someone and that buyer told him he has no hands in any post on any forum about the Honda he bought from Banix.

But it will be unfair to let someone go unchecked over a transaction he was not part of or supervised. And if you know Banix and how he treats his customers, you would know this is insulting.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 11:49pm On Oct 07, 2010
So the story now is that the car is sooooo bad, it can't even make it to Banix' place. I'm sure Banix is smart enough to do the right thing and not let this smearing and blackmail scheme go unchecked.

I openly ask Ayusman and his invisible friend to kindly say it here when they will go to Banix, so we can sort this. I am concerned because a buyer's carelessness with an incompetent and greedy mechanic is being taken out on a dealer - I'm ready to go all out on this.

The good news is Internet. I priced a complete front wheel bearing (hub) for my H2 at Ladipo for 47,000 llast but got it on eBay for $89.00. Thank God for companies like orderbay.com, I ordered for both front sides.

Also you should know that there is a world of information on substitute parts that might not be branded Ford, Chevy but will work very well. That helped me in converting an airmatic shocks to coil spring for less than 10,000.
Car Talk / Re: American Vehicle Mechanics by Onwan: 11:46am On Oct 05, 2010
These days you can't categorise anymore with Range Rovers carrying BMW engines and Mercedes with Crysler parts. What will help you is for you to give an idea of what the problem is, then get information (online from a forum like nairaland or online forum for your car's make/model), then you get a ( recommended ) mechanic to carry out repairs you will supervise.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 6:35pm On Oct 04, 2010
Personally, I have had very good experiences with registered vehicles on nairaland, it all depends on how patient one will be to have them brought to grade with strict supervision and knowledge of the vehicle itself.

There are lots of advantages in buying a good history Nigerian used (especially thise bought brand new or imported by last owner) over a no history tokumbo - except it is certified ok by a competent mechanic.

If there is a transaction you did not witness or cannot answer simple but very basic questions on, then don't be all into it or stick to one side of it - especially your "friend's" side of the story.

Banix has his reasons for wanting to meet the person to what what it is all about, but you need to be considerate and know better than posting here that you spent 300k on accessories for a Honda, we are not fools here and the questions are still simple (as asked by a DPO providing patrol teams for where I live)

1. Did your friend go there with a mechanic?
2. Did the mechanic and your friend okay the transaction before payment?
3. Did Banix deliver the car to your friend or did your friend drive the vehicle home by himself or his own party?

These same questions has been asked since the beginning and no answers. Don't even go to that stirring up trouble thing, it's better left alone - just answer the simple questions.
Autos / Re: Attention Banix Auto by Onwan: 2:42pm On Oct 04, 2010
I'm not a dealer, I'm a buyer but this is simply blackmail, it's an open case of blackmail, and I know it won't work and he will not get away with it. Both him and that his invisible friend.

I have had experiences on nairaland from things I bought too.
