Romance / Re: An Open Letter To Nigerian Girls And Ladies by onydchic(f): 9:13am On Oct 18, 2007
Wow, this is very hypocritical and one-sided. The women you said shouldn't give in to sex, who asks for it in the first place
Your post is extremely unrelenting towards the female, yet, it pays no heed to the fact that men instigate these things in the first place. Why don't you ask stop men to stop pressuring girls into sex? Why don't you ask rich men to not marry poor women? Why don't you also ask them to stop 'falling for' these apparent devil marketers? Look, I'm in the banking industry, and I can honestly tell you this whole banks employ chicks to go tempt guys for money is exaggerated, I don't say it doen't happen but if those girls go out and do it, it's on their own idea. Girls who feel they can't meet their targets goign to extreme measures to get what they want. At the same time, the men (mostly married) who are loose enough to fall for a babe in a skirt and let go fo his money?? Please.

Your no6 post tripped me the most though. You are yet to give the scientific proof that happens. I agree with birdman. Somebody told you a lot of bollocks, and you believed it because it proves your point. It doesn't happen. Too much sex will not turn you into a walking baby. It's so RIDICULOUS, i can't beleieve how many women on this post believed it! Don't you even undersatnd your own bodies? What are the diapers supposed to hold anyway? Urine? Cos if that's the case, it OBVIOUSLY has nothing to do with sex, because those parts are not related. God is not stupid. If he wanted married people to have sex, why would he then put a limit on it? Listen to yourself, abeg.

Please go and re-examine your post. A man thinks about sex every 6 seconds. He's not blameless. And stop generalising. I know too many women who have had long, meanigful relationships WITHOUT sex, so that imagined 99% u made up is very annoying.

Just another chauvijistic male running amok under the guise of the Bible. Spare me.
Webmasters / Re: Could A Lady Have Actually Designed This Website ? by onydchic(f): 8:12am On Oct 18, 2007
Wow. Way to be a chauvinist. I like the subtle implication that females generally don't have the capacity to do nice work. I'll encourage you to visit http://deviantart.com, and see the heart-breakingly GOOD stuff women all over the world are doing.

Get over your MAN ego, dude.
TV/Movies / Re: The Second Chance: A Telenovela by onydchic(f): 8:05am On Oct 18, 2007
It was cool when we were focusing on one telenovela at a time, like, MAria de los Angeles (great 1) but now its becomng too much. And they're all mostly predictable rubbish annyway.
Webmasters / Re: Urgent! I Need My Site Reviewed And Critiqued: Talkofnaija.com by onydchic(f): 9:06am On Oct 09, 2007
I don't know, maybe it's me, but there seems to be too much going on on the home page. It's like you wanted to use all the effects EVER on just one page.
1. The scrolly pictures zooming across the page? It's flying past too fast, and is VERY distracting to a first time user who doesnt know what is inspiring them to change until they play around a bit.
2. Inconsistency in your rollovers. It's like an unwanted adventure. Every link in every section of the page has a different rollover effect, the left nav turns green and moves right. The links at the bottom highlight. Overkill, man.
3. The text is almost unreadable, brighten the colour of your text a smidge. Look at how Apple does it here: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/
4. why are the links at the bottom so BIG The sign up link is floating in that unnecessarily huge box. Now that we're on it, i also have a problem with those boxes on top too. The icons are too neon-y and well, big.

Otherwise, really you did a commendable effort. P.s. ur forum is not working.
Webmasters / Re: Website Review, Anyone? by onydchic(f): 12:39pm On Sep 14, 2007
One word: PADDING. Ur text is touching the edges of each column. Not too good.

Another thing, ur top navigation is being overshadowed by that ad on top. I barely noticed it.

And I agree with the guy above, its a bit bland. Can't say exactly why.
But other than that, its all good.
Webmasters / Re: What Can You Say About This? by onydchic(f): 12:33pm On Sep 14, 2007
Dude, if you're following a colour theme (and you should), then your hyperlinks being that bright blue colour don't really go.

Also, the top navigation links have a blue underline when hovered over. You should get rid of that.

Then, there's a lot of whitespace between the body and the footer, such that it's completely hidden until someone scrolls down, and considering that the page is not long, you could move it up.

MY2cents already mentioned everything else, really.
Career / Re: Entry Level Package For Banks You Know? by onydchic(f): 2:39pm On Jul 31, 2007
well, here's the thing, access is the highest I know of right now, a family member works there, but they'll WORK that money and MORE out of you. She works almost 7 days a week, and never has time to sleep, talk of enjoying the money ur being paid. That's how it is in banks. They'll squeeze you dry. It really isn't somewhere u want to stick around in for long, especially if you want to live long.
Webmasters / Re: Looking For Criticism On My Website by onydchic(f): 8:52am On Jul 31, 2007
Blk Raven basically said everything. But let me just add a couple of things,

There's too much going on on the home page, and the fonts are iconsistent. For instance, the Nigerian entertainment Awards story. Because u somehow managed to squeeze in the mp3 player into the same space as links on the story, i didn't know at first that they were there.

And instead of putting a whole full article on the home page, why don't you just put snippets of each with a 'read more' link?

And the colours are bad on the eys as yo've already been told. If you must use blue, use a softer shade of blue.

Try categorizing the areas of the page. If you must put so much stuff on it, then partition them with thin lines or something. As they are, they just look jumbled together and unappealing.

I understand you're trying to make revenue, but what you're dong with the google ads has a name, and it's called overkill.. If you are so hell bent on the three, make them different types, like text links on one corner, and picture ads on another, as they are right now with ur layout, they just make the page look veery WORDY.

Finally, the picture for that Treez interview, why don't you align the text around it, so that space won't be there?

Just a few tips.

Webmasters / Re: I Need Constructive Review Of This Site, Please by onydchic(f): 1:52pm On Jul 18, 2007
Sigh. Why must everything turn to an ego trip in this  site?

Anyway dude, about your site. This is me at my most constructive:
1. The pictures in the banner are of poor quality. It looks a bit like you got small pictures and tried to expand them, when it should be the other way round. Get high-resolution images instead and manipulate them, you'll see the difference. http://sxc.hu is a great place for high-res stock photos and registration is free.
2. Say NO to Marquees. The truth is, they're obsolete (very 1998), they can be quite annoying and distracting (especially in your case, where you used more than one) and there is NO popular site you'll see that has one. Or that will encourage you to use one.
3. Let your logo be clickable. It helps if someone goes too far into ur site and wants to get back tothe home page.
4. The rainbow background you've got going on? No. It's too colourful and looks very unprofesional. It's supposed to be a corporate site, so keep ur colours few and simple. It's also harsh on the eyes.
5. Speaking of colours, stick to a color scheme, Before you start a site, taking into account your logo's colours, layout a colour scheme of about 3 colors and then work with those, and if you must, shades of the three.
6. All that extra space on the right side, why is it there? It makes the page look empty and funny, especially as it's a different colour. If you don't have content to put there, then make the page a 2-column layout and set the width of the page to a figure that will centralise the content to the middle, and thus evenly split the empty (whitespace).
7. The middle colum with the text is not aligned well. It's going off to the right.
8. Your advert thingy on the right side is too near the edge, apply some padding.
9. Your menu is vaguely out of sync with the rest of your page, which gives me reason to believe you probably got the menu as a template or something.
10. Your links DONT HAVE to be the default blue colour you know! Let them blend with your site.
11. Why's ur text so big?

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'll cut you some slack cos you claim it's ur first one. Also, use other sites for inspiration. I learnt a lot from observing other sites. smiley

I'm sorry if that sounded like an attack, but its getting tiring.
Webmasters / Re: Nigerian Female Bloggers Are Making Waves In The Blogosphere! by onydchic(f): 12:49pm On Jun 27, 2007
I don't know why Nigerians like making a big deal out of something that the rest of the world does so easily and without fanfare. I blog, I don;t make a big deal out of it. Why should we? Most Americans wont even know the word blogosphere cos all they do is write, share with their friends who do the same and it gets popular. Here, it's like, OMG, Nigerian A is blogging! Nigerian B's blog is a hit!

So? Who cares? Really?

@ my2cents,

dude i totally agree with you bout that site. It irritatd that a whle bank would accept something so TACKY
Webmasters / Re: Urgent Website Review! by onydchic(f): 7:05pm On Feb 21, 2007
Dude, there's too much going on, So many thngs are moving here and there. If you want to have a flash header, thats fine, but that should be it, and it doesnt help that the slideshow thing is directly under it
2. IT looks cluttered. I get the effect you're tryng ot make, but u jst didnt get it. Put some space betweeen the pics and the text, and maybe make those polaroid pix SMALLER.
3. The pictures in the header. Not of very good quality and the blending, wel,
4. The content is inconsistent, u have a different font on the sidebar than you do in the main area, Not nice.
5. The titles for everything is inconsitent, it's like you wanted to use all the desin ideas ever on the same page. Try and make everything follow the same theme.
6. Your backgrounds colors are fighting with the other colors in the page.
7. What's up with those headers
But I suppose it's an ok effort.

Webmasters / Re: Web Design: Only For Guys? by onydchic(f): 4:33pm On Nov 25, 2006
Hey, I'm a web designer, among other thiings, (which in include but are notl imited to graphics, animation, and illustration) but i agree, not many chicks. Many of them arent even interested in anything IT, to be truthful, even those that were in my computer science department. But ive never felt intimidated. in fact, i feel like there is a need for more of us, cos most of the male designers arent that wonderful (SERIOUSLY), they're all good at the coding thing but most of them just take uo design ing as a means to an end. I believe designing, either male or female should be done by a genuinely inspired artist, no?
Webmasters / Re: Web Design: Why Not Photoshop? by onydchic(f): 4:15pm On Nov 25, 2006
i dont know why people like turning every discussion into an ego thing or "but i think i know better so i must be right and your stupid" affair. Noone needs to know what decade anyone started doing what.
Personnallly, i use photoshop and its all ive evr used. but i use it with dreamweaver and the likes. i find it more felexible than fireworks anyway. it takes longer to master, true, but dats for a reason.
