Politics / Re: Buhari: Certificate Nuisance! - Vanguard by onyeka205(m): 8:09pm On Jan 07, 2015 |
I think during Gen Buhari's tenure as the head of state, there was one Tunde Idiagbon who played a very vital role in the war against indiscipline. Most of the credits for a 'no corruption' regime should go to him because he was at the center of it all. we should not pretend as if he never existed. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: APC Can Field An Illiterate – PDP by onyeka205(m): 11:05am On Jan 05, 2015 |
If there is a minimum qualification for the office of the president as stipulated by the constitution, whoever that is qualified should be allowed to occupy that position. If the running mate to Gen Buhari is the one qualified for the post, pls let him be the APC's presidential flag bearer to avoid litigation after election. Asking Gen Buhari to go on and contest is like asking a school certificate holder to be a vice-Chancellor of a Federal University. How would you feel if you just realized that the vice-chancellor of the university you attended did not obtain a degree certificate? Would you be proud of that university? Unless the constitution did not stipulate any minimum qualification for the post, then Buhari can go on to contest. 1 Like |
Education / Re: 11 Major Reasons Why Phd Take Too Long To Study In Nigeria by onyeka205(m): 9:12pm On Dec 28, 2014 |
From the write-up it is obvious that the OP has not done his PhD and all that responded have not done theirs PhD either. To put the record straight, PhD is meant for those that are academically, emotionally and psychologically stable. It is not meant for those that just managed to pass through their first degree and maybe, one way or the other, managed to get their masters. Before you proceed for your PhD, you must have a minimum of 4 points on a 5 point grade. You must be one that is academically disciplined, not one that cut corners. Before you proceed to the research aspect of your PhD program, be sure to have done some preliminary research on the topic you intend to research on. Draw your contingency table to be sure that the data you will generate will fit into a particular statistical model for easy analysis. This is where most PhD students get stocked. Please don't say that Nigerian lecturers are lazy, most are very enterprising in their field. Presently, I and my students (PhD and masters) are working on the use of microorganisms to treat waste water, generate electricity, biogas and hydrogen all at the same time. The biogas would be channeled to a constructed oven and be used to dry fish to a particular water activity, the hydrogen would be channeled to power a generator and the electricity that would be got directly from the organisms would be stored in a capacitor. Is this not innovative? We have succeeded on our preliminary investigation, we are going on full scale research now. Please do not underrate Nigerian scientists. What we need is encouragement. In the western world, the life of a lecturer revolves round his lab, office and class, all his needs are taken care of by the system so that he can concentrate on his research work, here in Nigeria, the reverse is the case. 6 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Amaechi Spent N30bn On Buhari - Wike by onyeka205(m): 10:27am On Dec 26, 2014 |
sebali: Is Amaechi a yoruba or hausa name? Amaechi is an Igbo name that mean 'who knows tomorrow'. Apart from the south-east Igbos are in Rivers and Delta states, Etche and Ikwere are two of the Igbo speaking Local Government Areas of Rivers state. |

Religion / Re: Synagogue Victims: TB Joshua Sponsors 42 Family Members To Nigeria For Christmas by onyeka205(m): 2:59pm On Dec 25, 2014 |
Silkmoth33: There are also extremists in Christianity but they don't kill anybody rather they devote all their time to fasting and praying. The bible says 'thou shalt not kill'. This is one of the commandments that God gave whose consequences is too great for God to mention. Please let both Christians and Muslims adhere to this commandment, whether extremists or casual believers. |
Religion / Re: Synagogue Victims: TB Joshua Sponsors 42 Family Members To Nigeria For Christmas by onyeka205(m): 2:48pm On Dec 25, 2014 |
mustymatic: I like your write-up but I keep on wondering why Muslims kill those that don't seem to believe in their ideology while Christians only try to preach to those that do not believe in their ideology. Jesus said in John 14:27 "peace I leave with you...". This is where Jesus differs from Muhammad. 1 Like |

Education / Re: ASUU Strike: Delta State University Pulls Out & Resumes Dec 9 by onyeka205(m): 6:38am On Dec 05, 2013 |
Did ASUU-DELSU call off their strike or did the university senate just announced the resumption date? these are two different things. The management can announce the resumption date but ASUU will refuse to come to class. It was announced that FUTO has pulled out of the ASUU strike but go to FUTO today you will not see any single lecturer around. The students that came back to school without making enquiries first were all disappointed and have all gone back home. The students should better persuade the FG to resolve this issue with ASUU. 1 Like |

youngprofdguru: Just as I said around October dat ASUU will one day lost d meaning of embarking on dis industrial action n now wat are we seeing schools pulling out..... The OP said that the university registrar anounced the opening date but never said the ASUU-FUTO has decided to go to class. He was just carrying out an order given to him by the minister. If you have not heard, there is another rumour that FUTO has sacked all her academic staff. Who are ones that are resumming duties when all of them have been sacked? |
Education / Re: ASUU Is Reckless, Irresponsible, Lawless, And Lacks Fear Of God” – Presidency by onyeka205(m): 7:01am On Dec 03, 2013 |
99/100: Sorry brother, The VCs don't like this approach. They are only obeying the minister because they are political appointees. They know that they are the beneficiaries of ASUU struggle. All the billions being mentioned are to be expended by the VCs and the Governing Council. Surprisingly nobody will return on the appointed date and FG will not be foolish to start new recruitment which will bury educational progress in NIgeria. Don't think it is easy to get experts in every area of education. Some universities decided to retain most of their retired professors because it is difficult to get a replacement. How many unimployed professors and PhD holders have seen? NASU is now ready to join ASUU and I think the FG will also recruit new ones as well. As at yesterday, NLC and TUC were having meeting with ASUU and these bodies are ready to join ASUU any moment from now. I think this will be too much for the FG to handle. The easiest thing the FG should do is to simply sign the agreement. |

Sard: give them salary they didn't work for even before they resume? are u serious? com'on, let them resume first and give FG an ultimatum of 2 weeks to pay them their salaries. I hope you know the labour law? Based on this law, they are entitled to their salaries. You said they should give FG 2 weeks ultimatum? What if the salaries were not paid after the expiration of the 2 weeks ultimatum, what would they do? |
