Romance / Re: What's It Like To Have Your Spouse Cheat On You? by ONYEUTALI: 10:35pm On Apr 02, 2021
Never had the experience. But since it's all about breach of trust, I can relate.

1. I can compare it to what Oga John, the tailor in the next street did to me last Christmas. He promised me my Christmas clothes will be ready on 21st. They weren't. He said I should return on 22nd. I went there but my clothes weren't ready. He gave me the final promise... 23rd. I came back from a friend's place very late and met Oga John closing his Shop. He told me he can't reopen the Shop, that I didn't respect the rendezvous. I apologised but he said I should come on 24th at noon. When I went to his place on 24th, he told me it remains only the button. I should wait for 10mins or if I'm in a hurry, he would send the clothes to my house in 20mins time. I agreed with the latter proposal and left his workshop. 30mins the man no come. 1hour I still no see am. I vex go im shop. I met him working on another person's clothe. When I asked him what happened, he said he'll bring the clothes. I insisted on seeing the clothes. He went inside the Shop and brought my materials in a sack. They were in tact... just the way they were when I submitted them to him. And I paid him already. I felt like a good girl that has been used and dumped.

Lol. I expected comments like this. My reflection is so futuristic that people either take me for an alien or a retarded. I even said somewhere in my post that I fear the OP won't be able to grasp my advice.
Y'all should stop being hypocrites. The man don't chose a woman, couple choses themselves. But if you're manly enough and insist you're the one to chose the woman, then make your choice and stop coming on Nairaland to ask of our opinions. Moreover we're not you and can never help you make a choice. By coming on Nairaland to ask for our opinions, you're indirectly telling us you're not manly enough to make a choice... Or simply put, that you don't have any right to chose your partner. And we're back to the starting point... You don't chose, you accept your partner. If you still insist you'll chose a partner, make your choice and save us these stupid posts.
Peace.

I'll give you the greatest relationship advice that has ever been given. It's so alien I fear you might not be able to understand it. If you do, you'll live happily henceforth.

First, know that the perfect partner don't exist. If you still believe in that nonsense, quit reading my text.
Secondly, what do you want in marriage? Your partner, children, the title of Mister or you just want to marry because people marry? The two important reasons for marriage (for a man) can only be one of first two (or both of them). If you want children, you don't forcibly need a wife to have them. If you want a wife (or a wife and children), then remember the first point I made up there.
Here is the relationship advice.
Knowing that the perfect partner don't exist, you marry the better-among the rest (of course the "better" is subjective) and canonise her demons. You know what that means? It means everything about her must be good to you. You must love her and absolutely love her. Whether she's a Nun or a hoe. You have no right to ask your partner to change her nature to suit you. Why this? Because it is her you chose and she has every right to be happy in her conjugal life.
Marrying her and wanting her to stop a certain character is like buying a black car and painting it red. If you want a red car, go buy a red car. But since you accepted with my first point up there that a red car don't exist (that the perfect partner don't exist), buy the next-best colour and stick to it as the best (common sense tells us the Best/Perfect choice can't be edited. If you edit it, it's because it's not perfect/the best).
So if your wife cheats on you or you're suspecting her of cheating, tell her to sincerely tell you the truth. If truly she cheats and you don't want a cheater as partner, breakup with her. If she cheats and you think she's still the "better-among-the-others", go on and marry her but don't ever complain again, ara agbachila gi nti.

The worst thing to ever happen to humanity was the discovery of critical reasoning.

Why is it that among animals, it's always the male chasing and mating the female (even when the female tries to avoid the male)? Example among mammals and birds. It used to be like this among humans. Then we started getting more intelligent and realized it isn't a taboo if a woman initiates the mating activity (sex or flirting).

But the disgusting thing about our reasoning is that it remains dominated by our animalistic nature. As animals, we all know the male specie has always dominated and impose its sexual prowess on the female. But as reasonable beings, we are trying our best to prove that everyone should be equal. Reason as hard as you want, the animal in you will always surface.

Things I want to try when I become super rich...

1. Register one of my expensive cars on the Uber network. Someone would request for my service hoping I would come with the normal Sedans, then I turn up with an Innoson G80 SUV and take them to their destination free of charge.

2. Go to local markets, buy foodstuff in large quantity, call a barrow-pusher to take it to my car. Then tell him: "April fool. It's for you bro".

3. Park my super-expensive car on a sidewalk and hawk Gala few steps away from it... try being friendly with passerbys while selling my Gala. Whenever someone insults me, I pretend to be angry, go to my car, throw the carton of Gala in the trunk and drive away.

4. Giving out money or expensive phones to my confused Samaritans.
Walk up to a cheap looking person (I'm supposing that their cheapness is synonymous to poverty), ask them to borrow me their phone for a quick call. If they accept, I'll call my number. When my phone rings, I'll pick it and say to the person's hearing (that is, the two phones each on each of my ear) : "She's probably thinking I'm nuts. But Oluwa don visit her". Then I cut the call, bring out a bundle of cash or an expensive phone and give it to the good Samaritan.

5. Park my very expensive car on an open environment, walk up to two lovers, ask one of them to break up with the other and have 200,000₦. If they agree, I transfer the money to their account. Then ask the other to come with me. We drive off in my car and set them up making sure they become 100 times richer than the partner that broke up with them.

6. Finance the education of brilliant students or people that are into business and ban them from getting close to me if their net worth is not above ₦100,000,000.

7. Before all these things, I'll send all my family members out of Nigeria. And I'll make them swear never to come back until Nigeria starts practising true Federalism or until Biafra is realised.

Nonsense.
Jokes Etc / Re: What Is April Fool's Day All About? by ONYEUTALI: 11:01am On Apr 01, 2021
You left the real information.

April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. In the Julian Calendar (as in the Hindu calendar), the new year began with the spring equinox AROUND April 1.

To dissuade people from celebrating April First as the first day of the year, the Pope Gregory XIII declared that those who still celebrate April 1st as the first day of the year are FOOLS. But England, unhappy with the Church of Rome, refused to go along with the new calendar. In the mid-18th century the difference had grown to 11 days. All British lands except Scotland, which changed its calendar 100 years before, now celebrated New Year's Day on Jan. 1.

Between 1582 and 1752 BOTH calendars, old and new style, were used in Europe in different locations – causing some rather perplexing dates for future researchers.

But changing calendars left everyone with a problem. Since the Gregorian calendar accounted more accurately for leap years, it was 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar by 1752. To correct this discrepancy and align all dates, 11 days had to be dropped when the switch was made.

Other countries started copying France's move (France was the first Roman empire to adopt the Gregorian calendar). We're anglophones, a former British colony. So I'll be telling you who Britain adopted the Gregorian calendar.

People living in Britain, America and other English colonies went to sleep on the night of Sept. 2, 1752, and when they woke up the next morning it was Sept. 14, 1752. Because the people thought the government was trying to cheat them out of 11 days of their lives, there were riots in villages. Eleven days (Sept. 3-13) were cut from the calendar, deleting them forever. These days simply never existed – no births, no marriages, no deaths.

This was very confusing by itself, but added to this change was that New Year moved from March 25 to Jan. 1. Think how confusing this must have been to people used to thinking about a year running from March 25 to March 24, now they had to get used to the year running from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Imagine – a person could have been married on April 26, 1710 and died on Feb 2, 1710.

Search up this : "1752 Calendar change".

Music/Radio / Flavour Ft Biggie Igba _ Umu Igbo More Than A Pro-igbo Song by ONYEUTALI: 11:05pm On Jan 19, 2021
Who've seen it. What's your take especially on Flavour's second verse. He even sent a shout-out to Nnamdi Kalu on it. grin

My take: It's inspiring and motivational.

I'm proudly Igbo and wants to see Igbo be great but I don't like people (myself too) reminiscing on the Biafran war like we (Igbos) were wronged. Humanity was wronged in Biafra.
Let our dream for Biafra be a dream to liberate oppressed humanity from they heartless powers of the planet. You liberate humanity, you liberate Igbo.

The 20th Century Biafra was the Third World's struggle against it's colonial masters. If Biafra had been a success, the Third World would've seen the light of progress.

Par contre, the 21st Century Biafra is Igbos' struggle against Nigeria. If this struggle becomes successful, Igbos might see the light - not the Third World. This might lead to many third world ethnic groups rising and revolting against their country. This will result to a total "things fall apart" in Africa in particular.

Igbos should be inclusive in their dream of Biafra so that a large number of the oppressed be liberated if their struggle becomes a success. The rest of Nigeria and Africa at large should equally see in Biafra the liberal dream of the oppressed instead of seeing it as the Igbos' struggle.

Because of the Corona Virus thing I was turned down on two occasions when I tired shaking people's hand.

The most painful part was that the people that turned me down were people that would ask me for an autograph on a normal day. I was just trying to be a humble celeb before them.

The thing still dey pain me.

Since then whenever I meet someone that I'm not certain would accept a handshake, I just put my two hands in my pocket.

It is blasphemy in the case of Jesus because He is God incarnate

The divinity of Jesus was not understood by the early Christians the way we do today. Jesus was not understood as God incarnate by the early Christians but as a predestined divine Messiah.

You are right in your claim if and only if the writer was influenced by divine inspiration which made him see beyond his contemporary understanding of the person of Jesus.

It's a problem of translation.

Some versions used the verb "jeered" and some used "insulted".

Fact is, the original Greek texts used the verb "blasphemed". But contrary to the contemporary meaning of the verb in which it is understood uniquely as a defamation of what is divine, the Greek language applies the verb on mortal humans too.

Interesting.

Very beautiful contribution.

First off; is the adjective “average” applicable to a human being? I mean, is it wrong to use it on a human being? Is it wrong to say Leo Messi is a Top-class professional player whereas Timo Werner is an average professional player?

I accept that music is Art. But I think we shouldn't drag the subjectivity in art to that dangerous depth you're heading. We’re discussing global music: there’s definitely no room for subjectivity here.

Why would the entire world say terrorism is wrong and someone says terrorism is good “for him”? Why would the world say a song is good and you claim the said song isn’t good “for you”?

You see, when it comes to the global table, objectivity is the point of agreement. You don’t bring subjective opinions on global debates. Arts, Religion, food, sports, etc, all have a subjective ascpect... you are the King of your taste on the subjective terrain. But when we want to know the universal mean, we seek objectivity.

It is not about following the “mainstream” or “falling in line”. It is about the unity of humanity. We can have different cultures, civilizations, families, ethnic groups, nationalities, etc, but there’s only one “humanity”. Objectivity is the round table on which we agree on a point notwithstanding our ethical, national, cultural differences.
And in music the objective mean is the message: that which everyone can subscribe to.
God bless.

I am a Christian and I worship a perfect God. My perfect God created perfected worlds.

Common sense tells you you only destroy something if it is not well done or if you have done something more beautiful than it.

Now if a perfect God creates a perfect world, why would He turn around and want to destroy it? Is the world imperfect now? As an Omniscient Being, didn't He foresee the world being imperfect before creating it?

Abeg, earth is our paradise. Stop building imaginary paradise up there.

Music/Radio / The Nigerian Entertainment Going Down Or Nigerians Being Mediocre? by ONYEUTALI: 12:11am On Aug 30, 2020
I embarked on discussing this topic after recently reading critics on Burna Boy’s latest album. Why is Burna Boy making wave on the international terrain yet he is not commanding similar admiration in Nigeria? Mind you, I didn’t claim Burna don’t command admiration in Nigeria, I affirmed he doesn’t command the same level of attention he has gotten outside of Nigeria.
Before going further, permit me to relate this story. I have this professor in my University (on Political philosophy). He's an author. He’s written many books so far. Majority of his books are directed towards the African politics. One day during a lecture, he somehow switched the topic and started criticizing the African mentality and taste of literature. Before then he had bragged twice or more times (in his lectures) that he has bigger audience in Europe than in Africa. That is to say his books are read more in Europe than in Africa. It was a brag because on those occasions he was trying to show us why Nigerian authors don’t earn as much as their European counterpart. So he was kind of thanking God that he earns more than his Nigerian counterparts because most of his books were sold in Europe. On the last occasion when he was criticizing the African taste of literature, he was kind of switching camp without knowing it. He sounded like he really wanted his books to be sold more in Africa than in Europe.
I raised a hand to make a suggestion. When he permitted me, I first asked him if he doesn’t think the problem (his books not being sold much in Africa) is tied to literature style. He thought for few seconds are declared coldly that he has a very high literature style and that I shouldn’t expect him to “stoop low” just to address some people. He said if people really want to read his books, they should “upgrade” to his literature style. I saved my suggestion for myself and sat myself down.
And before you criticize this professor, make sure you’re of the same level as Wole Soyinka. Because I assure, this man is on his own level when it comes to high reflection and literature style.
Through this post, I want to see if Burna’s music is more for the European audience or whether it is the Nigerian audience that doesn’t have a good taste for music.

Recently Burna Boy released his “Twice as Taller” album and the Nigerian music world has been divided on the topic of how good the album is. So far, I’ve realized majority thinks the album is overrated. They even claimed “African Giant” was way better than it. Well, I don’t know much about “African Giant”, I never took time to listen to it. I am very very very selective when it comes to Nigerian music. I hardly get songs that meet my taste from our artists.
I read a tread here recently on the “Twice as Taller” album. https://www.nairaland.com/6084006/what-artists-should-learn-burna The poster seemed to be for Burna but majority of the commentators were Burna’s critics. Someone mentioned two songs of Burna from the Album: “Monsters you made” and “Way too big”. I searched them up and listened to them. I was shocked. The songs were soooooo cooooool. What the devil is wrong with the Nigerian taste of music?

Now let’s do this reflection together. No one discuss hip hop and rap in general without mentioning Eminem. Eminem dropped an album this year. If the speculated king of rap drops an album in a year, the album logically becomes the year’s king for rap albums. In Eminem’s latest album “Music to murder”, the most loved and rated song on the album is “Darkness”. I propose to you this challenge. Listen to Eminem’s “Darkness”. While listening to it, put aside from your mind the fact that it’s an Eminem’s song. In fact, imagine a Nigerian artist in Oshodo sang it. If you can be sincere with yourself, you will admit an average Nigerian rapper can make that song. Now consider the fact that this song is possibly the number one rap song in 2020. Does that song meet up? I can firmly reply that, for an average African, “Darkness” is overrated. Now listen to Burna Boy’s “Monster you made” just after listening to “Darkness”. Oh là là. Can’t you see?

Eminem wrote “Darkness” by assuming the person of Stephen Paddock, the guy responsible for the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. Em was kind of speaking “positively” for Paddock, but in some way Em changed Paddock’s sense of murder to his own “murdering music”. In general, there was this thing about “reflection before action.” Paddock reflected on his “evil” act before executing it, even if emotion blurred his reason. Before murdering music on the stage before the fans, Eminem too has to reflect, and emotion blurs reason during his reflections too.
Now about Burna’s “Monster you made”. At least this is not something I should explain. Majority of Nigerians are living first-hand the situation addressed in the song. Just like the slight defense Eminem brought to Paddock by putting himself in Poddock’s shoes, Burna defended the third-world nations (Remember people has always believed that Black is the problem of Black). Blacks (used to represent the third-world), were presented as monsters created by Occidental civilization.
I’m not doing a comparison; I just want to show you what makes songs unique these days. It is called MESSAGE.
So listen eh, if you’re among these “average Africans” that are dragging the African entertainment industry behind, I give you my apology. Entertainment has evolved. In fact we’ve had enough of entertainment. In this age we don’t just play music: we LISTEN to music. These days, it’s hardly about noise and gyration: it’s about the message. And Burna doesn’t seem to be ready to “stoop so low” to your level just because he needed to rep his country. He said he’s “way too big… way too smart… way too cool… to be fvcking with you.”

You might claim I did a naïve conclusion if I end this write-up here by claiming Nigerians have a poor taste of contemporary entertainment. I want to point out one more proof before ending the discussion. It’s about Genevieve Nnaji’s “Lionheart”.
That film nearly won an award in the US but Nigerians were against it. I watched the movie and I was disappointed in Nigerians.

The film was released in September 2018 (common sense tells us that the movie must have been conceived months before it was released). Months before September 2018, there was problem in Nigeria when the North gave an ultimatum to Southerners to leave their region. Keep this in mind. Now back to the movie. What was LionHeart all about? Isn’t the message clear to you?
In Lionheart, Osuofia (Nkem Owoh) was a good uncle for probably the first time in his movie career. He gave up an Igbo brother (that was trying to dupe an Hausa man) to save the Hausa man from being scammed. In the movie, a powerful Igbo business man fused business with an Hausa man, not just for the sake of profit (yet we all know Igbos don’t joke with profit) but for the sake of the people working in his company. In that movie, Nneji was sending a clear message to the Igbos and the Hausas, and to Nigeria at large… "Let’s see beyond our ethnicity." But Nigerians didn’t get it. They look out for actions in movies. They seemed more occupied with Phyno’s unnecessary role.

Anyways, you have been showed the way. Check out for messages when you listen to music or when you watch movies.

My Catholic faith is not against the theory of evolution. Lamark, the predecessor or Darwin is a Catholic clergy. Same with Gregor Mendel.

True faith must be compatible with reasoned truth. Religions that have problem accepting the thoery of evolution are dogmatic and antihumane.

Gn 1:11, 12 and 24 is in accord with the theory of evolution if you consider the fact that God didn't create vegetation and animals. The earth and sea "brought them forth"... kind of evolved them. Man being a part of the animal kingdom was among the animals brought forth by earth.

When God said "Let's create man in our own image", common sense tells us the being God created was not man. (man evolved from nature). What God created was instead the human essence, the human soul, for that's the one thing in man that has the likeness of God.

Thanks for your inputs. We don't believe humans can better the earth. Humans are imperfect. If you call it politics and party system, the only one we support is God's Kingdom and not any earthly sorts.

Listen to yourself. "You don't believe humans can better the earth because they are imperfect?".
So God created you an imperfect being? A perfect God that creates imperfect beings and condemn them to imperfection, what do you think of Him?

God commands us to be perfect (Mt5:45, Gn17:1, Dt 18:13, 2Co 13:1).
And don't mistake human shortcomings for planetary imperfection. The planet and our world is perfect.

God created us as perfect beings but our imperfection can be attributed to the "fall of man". His desire to restore us to our perfect status was the reason why He sent Jesus.
By categorically not believing in human perfection, you are refusing your human essence - that for which you were created.

Many dogmatic religions places God/Religion first. Believe me, it is Humanity first.
Here I'll borrow the Catholic church belief of Jesus... God made man.

The Catholic Church conceive God as comprising of three persons (whatever that means). But what I admire is their belief that God came on earth to save humans in the form of man (in the person of Jesus - the Second Person of the Trinity). With this doctrine, they affirm humanity. They tell man "God loves your nature".

If it should be "God First", God would have visited humanity in his godly nature and not as a human. But God Himself is telling humans "It is You first" by making Himself man.

Putting God first is making it look like He needs your approval of His existence. He doesn't need you approving His existence. He exists and IS what He Is irrespective of your approval. You should focus more on approving your own existence.

Save your damn lives and not God's commandments!!!

JWs refutation of blood transfusion is equally borne out of dogmatic grasp of Biblical texts. They place faith above reason.
Actually in life, reason goes before faith. Faith only comes in where reason is connered... where reason faces a limit. God didn't give us reason for fancy. Stop making Him feel He did a bad job in making us rational beings.
Peace.

I'm a Christian but I reject the Christian ideology of a paradise in heaven. The idea of paradise on earth is one ideology I admire of JWs.
But JWs anger me when they affirm earth and still refuse to cooperate in bettering earth (mainly in the political sense). I'm yet to see any religion that beautify earth in the vegetative sense better than JWs. Their kingdom halls and their residents are always beautified with flowers.
But what's the essence of naturally beautifying earth when the "society" isn't beautiful?
Transform the society... Go into politics.
