BetaThings:so your problem with Shiites in Nigeria, is it because of their beliefs being Shiite, or is it because as you claim that Sunnis cannot pray Eid prayer in Tehran (Iran, a Shiite country) or because they curse you or because they kill you in Nigeria? please clarify. I am confused with your sandwich of claims containing different countries and excuses. |
BetaThings:ok. continue. and if I choose to be Shia, or shrine worshipper or Confucian, hope you don't have a problem with that and I would not be deserving of death in your estimation? |
BetaThings:cant you leave them to their beliefs? is it your duty to correct their beliefs or what you accuse them of? are you living in a religious state? whether they worship stone or Buddha, what is your problem? no freedom of worship? there are people who call on Jesus, Shiva and Amdioha. do you want to kill them too for that? must everyone call on Allah? and is there any religion that doesn't believe the other religion is wrong and its adherents will enter hell fire? your intolerance is unbecoming and unjustified. |
BetaThings:I am no Shia oga. your propaganda would make even the blind fool to research and find out. you are a propagandist on the forum and a blind one that is hardcore. whether they pray Friday or not is not my business. if you block roads even for a second, is that right? answer please. |
BetaThings:shut up, Mr. Wahhabi. your clichés are now vivid in the memory of forumers. you keep repeating your Wahhabi propaganda. Shi'ites are minority in the Muslim world. and they are the oppressed. whenever Shi'ites are cited as "violent" they are merely defending themselves form Sunni bullying. Iraq is majority Shia, but who started the sectarian killings targeting Shia mosques and holy places? Taqiyyah is in the Quran. Sunni and Shia, all of you practice it at varying degrees. So because of taqqiya many don't know about shia terror attackswhen 40% or more of the Lebanese vote for Hezbollah in elections, then it is democracy. Hezbollah fought against Israeli occupation, and any foreign forces on Lebanese soil. the Lebanese army is under equipped. Hezbollah is called a "terrorist organization" by Israel and its allies. if you follow that standard, then you can use that. but based on Lebanese law and laws of many countries across the world, Hezbollah is not regarded as a terrorist organization. they even have ministers in the Lebanese government and Hezbollah is allied to a Christian party in Lebanon, the largest Christian party in the Lebanese parliament, the Free Patriotic Movement. that is a Shia-Christian alliance. can you cite any Sunni-Christian alliance? Hezbollah does not go about bombing Christian churches or sunni mosques. Sunni terror groups are and claim more atrocities than they even accomplish and they are not state- sponsoredif they are not state sponsored, then who sponsors them? the pope? who sponsored the terrorists fighting the Syrian government? fingers are pointed at Turkey, Qatar and Saudi (three of them are Sunni countries). |
Alkanoicacid:Wahhabi/Salafist is an ideology within Sunni Islam. it is followed by minority of Sunnis. they are extremist Sunnis. every Sunni terrorist group on earth adhere to the Wahhabi/Salafist movement within Sunni Islam. the heart of the Wahhabi/Salafist movement is TAKFIRISM i.e. they label other Muslims (and also non-Muslims) as infidels and therefore should be killed based on their (dis)belief. the term "Wahhabi" is considered derogatory by the Salafist Sunnis. mostly Shia (Anglicized as Shiite) use the term "Wahhabi" to refer to Salafists, mainly the ones from Saudi Arabia. "Wahhabi" is in reference to Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahab, the extremist Saudi preacher who gave religious legitimacy to the monarchial rule of the al-Saud family that founded modern day Saudi Arabia and Arabia was renamed after that family. |
BetaThings:do Sunnis block roads every Friday across the country and even the world over? do they disturb others? should they therefore be shot, and then be pursued into their mosque and houses like wild animals and slaughtered? |
dustmalik:Sweetheart, I know your post is aimed at calming the fears of Christians that they are not the target of the bill. But darling, your post stinks of persecution, intolerance, oppression and Sunni extremism. I am sure you have heard of the saying that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Those Shiites are Nigerian citizens who have their beliefs different from yours. If you can draw up a law to persecute them based on their beliefs you disagree with, and they are Muslims like yourself, what guaranty is there that tomorrow your drive for dominance will not make you target the Christians? Or that your law will not be redirected at the Christians when you're through with the Shiites? Christians do not support oppression, persecution, intolerance and extremism by anyone or in any form. No one with conscience can support anything negative against fellow human beings and fellow countrymen. Nigeria is a secular state and not a state like Saudi. You cannot target a section of the Nigerian population because of their beliefs. And what insult to our intelligence that you are comparing Shiites to Maitasine. Sweetheart, Shiites are one of the two branches of Islam. They are not a cult or a mushroom group. They have been in existence for as long as Islam itself and in every country on earth. When you are targeting your fellow Nigerians for their faith, are you not dragging issues with members of this faith around the world? Your actions are already giving room for Iran to make statements on the issue and poke nosing because their coreligionists are target. If Shiites can practice their religion freely and hold processions in New York, London and other major world cities in the Christian west, then why can't they be left to freely practice their religion among their own Muslim brothers? Shiite Muslims can practice their faith in the land of the "unbelievers" aka keferi but they cannot practice their faith in countries where Sunni Muslims are in power. What an irony! And Nigeria is a secular state and not a religious state and not a majority Sunni country. Your measures will not make Shiites to disappear or any religion or denomination for that matter. This is modern times. Anyone can go online and learn about any religion and convert. Tolerance is key to peaceful coexistence. |

Shi'ites distance selves from abduction of army officer By . | Publish Date: Mar 28 2016 12:44PM The Islamic Movement in Nigeria otherwise known as shi'ites has distanced its from the abduction of colonel Samaila Inusa who was kidnapped in the weekend. A statement made available to Daily Trust by the movement's spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, said the claims that the movement is responsible for the abduction is meant to tarnish its image. "We wish to state here categorically that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of His Eminence, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has never, is not and will never engage in any form of crime to meet any of its objectives," the statement said in part. "The IMN is a peaceful Movement, with enlightened and responsible people as members that has for close to four decades conducted its activities in the most civilized manner and cannot in any way derail from that track record and engage in any form of crime or violence. "The Islamic Movement is aware that due to negligence of those in power who careless about the welfare of their citizens, a lot of crimes including kidnapping have become common in the country and the IMN condemns all forms of crimes and preaches against them as a religious body," the statement said.. Source: http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/shi-ites-distance-self-from-abduction-of-army-officer/139873.html ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Press statement: WE REJECT ANY KIDNAP IN OUR NAME Monday, 28 March 2016 11:35 Our attention has been drawn to a false, unsubstantiated and mischievous claim, that looks more like a planned operation aimed at painting the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) black, of some “intelligence” report that the IMN may plan kidnap of military officers for ransom for the release of our revered leader, His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. Typically, this was followed by the alleged kidnap of an Army officer in Kaduna with the Nigerian Army issuing statement calling on the public to give information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Soon, some media outlets were quick to quote these malicious sources linking the IMN with the alleged kidnap. It is obvious that the government and its Army are going further with their plans of campaign of calumny and false propaganda against the Movement ranging from smear documentaries on Television networks, advertorials in daily newspapers, sponsoring fake non-governmental organizations and engagement of some very dubious characters to malign the IMN and its leadership, to engaging in organized crimes and attributing same to the Movement. We wish to categorically state here that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of His Eminence, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has never, is not and will never engage in any form of crime to meet any of its objectives. Crime and criminal activities are fundamentally sinful and are not in our character. The Islamic Movement knows that due to official administrative ineptitude and official negligence of constituted authority, a lot of crimes including kidnapping are prevalent in the country. As a religious body, the IMN condemns and preaches against all forms of crime. Therefore, it is virtually illogical and unreasonable for anyone to presume that the IMN would turn around to engage in such acts of immorality. The IMN is a peaceful mass Movement, with enlightened and responsible members. For close to four decades now, it has conducted its activities in the most civilized manner and cannot in any way be derailed from that golden track record. IMN will therefore never be lured or diverted into any form of crime or violence. We are forced to believe that the government and its Army are resorting to these vicious campaigns in desperation. They wish not only to bury their crimes against humanity, but also to justify the bestiality they meted on the innocent unarmed members of the Movement between 12th and 14th of December 2015, including burning IMN members alive, sexual mutilation and harassment of women, as well as abduction and illegal detention of members including the leader of the Movement, besides killing over 1000 unarmed citizens. IMN has followed due processes in dealing with this injustice by the government on its members and leader. It is pertinent to reiterate that this will be sustained. This peaceful campaign for justice and fairness using lawful means of seeking redress will not be distracted. This should be clear from the way IMN handled the Commission of Inquiry set up by the Kaduna state government, making things public at every stage. The same can be said in the way it took its campaign and case before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. Finally, we would like to use this platform to echo our call on the government and its Army to own up to their crimes and release the revered leader of the Movement Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and other members unconditionally. emeka2847:There is rapprochement (new found love) between Iran and the West (particularly the USA). And the ICC would have its credibility at stake. The best thing is to convince these guys to withdraw their case by taking confidence building measures and finding lasting solutions to their excesses that will also not impede on their freedom of religion. There can be an internal settlement. |
Shi’ites drag Army to International Court Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shiites, Mondey said that they have dragged the Nigerian Army to International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague for alleged war crimes in the December 2015 clash with its members in Zaria. Addressing the press, media spokesman of the Islamic group, Ibrahim Musa said the Zaria clash was a war against the Shiites where over 1000 of them were allegedly killed by the Army. The International Criminal Court (ICC), located in Hague, is believed to be the court of last resort for prosecution of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. According to Musa, “International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has on behalf of Shiites called on the International Criminal Court to open a preliminary enquiry into the events in Zaria last year. “In the filing submitted to the ICC Tuesday IHRC writes: “The crimes committed between the 12th and 14th December 2015 in Zaria, Kaduna State, by the Nigerian army amount to crimes against humanity. The crimes committed by the Nigerian army meet all the necessary legal requirements to warrant a preliminary investigation by the ICC prosecutor.” “The International Criminal Court is being urged to investigate the massacre of nearly 1000 civilians in Nigeria last December at the hands of the country’s armed forces. “IHRC has called on the international tribunal which has a mandate to prosecute people for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, to open a preliminary enquiry into the events in Zaria last year in which soldiers attacked the Islamic Movement of Nigeria’s (IMN) supporters, symbols and property. “The assault over two days in the northern Nigerian city left a trail of bloodshed and destruction including the shooting of the movement’s leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat. Both are currently believed to be in military custody, detained without charge. “Information obtained by IHRC indicates that 217 people were confirmed killed in the attacks, another 219 are in detention, and 482 are still missing. The number of injured is believed to run into many hundreds. IHRC’s filing to the ICC is largely based on eye-witness evidence of the army’s assault. “The majority of deaths were caused by gunshots fired by soldiers. Cases of people being burnt alive have also emerged. Injuries caused by machetes or other knife wounds have also been found on the corpses, and could be the work of the criminal groups that perpetrated acts of looting and mutilation alongside the military. Signs of torture and electrocution have been evidenced on the body of the IMN leader Sheikh Zakzaky and other detainees, two of whom died as a result thereof. “Sexual violence has also been reported, including cases of rape against women affiliates of the IMN. A 14-year old female witness told IHRC that the military shot her in her private parts when she resisted attempts by soldiers to rape her. Some women reportedly had their breasts cut off and others were deliberately shot in the pelvic region damaging their uteri. “Photographic evidence has been obtained along with testimonies of mass graves where the army is reported to have buried fatalities from the killing spree. Some corpses were allegedly incinerated, apparently in order to conceal any evidence. “In its submission IHRC says that the evidence suggests that the army’s assault was a systematic and pre-planned attempt to snuff out the IMN whose growing popularity have made it a thorn in the side of Nigerian governments. “A similar army assault in July 2014 during a religious preocession led to the deaths of 34 IMN members including three sons of Sheikh Zakzaky who were apparently singled out for execution. “During the December’s violence soldiers were seen celebrating and chanting slogans against the IMN, such as ‘we have finished with the Shia and Zakzaky’ and ‘no more Shias in Nigeria’. Although the IMN has support among Nigeria’s Sunnis and Shias it is often portrayed by its detractors as a Shia organisation. “During the violence soldiers used automatic weapons, explosives and armoured vehicles against unarmed civilians. This, along with the destruction of places of worship, graves and other buildings associated with the IMN, appears to support the contention that the attack was aimed at fatally damaging or eliminating the IMN. “Although the state government in Kaduna has set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry IHRC believes it is insufficiently independent and impartial to be able to hold those responsible to account, nor is there any reasonable prospect of any prosecutions. “In his speech announcing the inquiry state governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai listed a range of grievances against the IMN, which is indicative of bias against the IMN from the start. He was also responsible for demolishing IMN properties before setting up the commission of inquiry,” he said. http://thenationonlineng.net/zaria-clash-shiites-drag-army-international-court-2/

PRESS RELEASE - Nigeria: IHRC refers Nigeria army massacre to International Criminal Court IHRC has called on the International Criminal Court to open a preliminary enquiry into the events in Zaria last year The International Criminal Court is being urged to investigate the massacre of nearly 1000 civilians in Nigeria last December at the hands of the country's armed forces. If this terrible incident would have happened in a northern state, many miscreants on nairaland would've been screaming sarcastically "religion of peace". Now it has happened in a southern state that is predominantly Christian, no one is screaming "religion of love", or "religion of turn the other cheek". No one is blaming christianity, not least the Muslims on the forum. It says much about the level of maturity and respect. |
WHAT ARE WE TO BELIEVE? "Desperate Attempts By Govt. To Link Imn/shia To Terror To justify ZariaMassacre" "Tweets on the sponsored campaigns by the Nigerian Govt to link IMN & #Shia_Muslims to terrorism: Some sponsored protesters went to Benue State govt house claiming that IMN & #Shia_Muslims are behind the Fulani killings in #Agatu! The Nigerian Govt that killed 1000+ defenseless & unarmed #Shia_Muslims in Zaria is behind these sponsored protests to link IMN to terrorism There is no where in the world that #Shia_Muslims are terrorists. And #IMN has been peaceful for the past 37 years & will remain peaceful The plot by the Nigerian Govt to link the peaceful #IMN to terrorism will fail. War criminals labeling their victims as “terrorists”." https://www.nairaland.com/2990120/desperate-attempts-govt-link-imn "Re:court Asked To Order The Arrest Of El-zakzaky's Wife" "It is important to note that the Nigerian government has so far used three (3) fronts in its campaign against the Islamic Movement of Nigeria ( #IMN ) and #Iran since the return of the Nigerian President Buhari from his foreign trips to #Saudi_Arabia and #Qatar. The first was by a faceless group led by a "Christian cleric" to the Iranian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria. The second was in Lagos by another faceless group that tried to equate the peaceful IMN with the most deadliest terrorist group in the whole world (#BokoHaram). And this law suit is the third front. It is also important to note that all the leaders of this sponsored groups are Nigerian Christians, that was not by accident but by design to give their campaign which is sectarian in nature a "national outlook". The IMN is the only Islamic organization in Nigeria that invites Christians to its programs and activities, and this move to make Nigerians believe that Nigerian Christians are in the forefront of opposition and hostility towards IMN will definitely fail as IMN considered all Christians as our brothers and sisters in humanity." https://www.nairaland.com/2990081/re-court-asked-order-arrest WHAT ARE WE TO BELIEVE? |
eposho:What's the possibility of prejudice in giving out this license? What's the guaranty that minority Muslims (e.g. Shia) and Christians perceived to be siding with opposition parties won't be denied right to preach and this law used against them? In other words, this law can be used for religious/sectarian persecution and the abuse of freedom of religion/worship. Let's also see how many Sunni Wahhabi clerics would be denied license. Will Gumi be denied? |
lapazi:Good you are confessing. So after all, this so called law is aimed at curbing freedom of religion and targeted at the Shia. You are so hypocritical that your post aims at calming the fears of Christians that the law is not targeted at them but at your own fellow Muslims who differ with you on certain doctrines. If you can do this to your fellow Muslims, what guaranty is there that tomorrow you won't pass a law aimed at Ahmadiyyah, then at Sufis (both of whom are Sunni movement that the mainstream Sunnis dislike) and then at Christians? You don't violate the constitution and freedom of worship and then come here to tell one group that it is only the rights of another group that is being taken away. You cannot fight a Sunni sectarian war in a supposedly secular country and hope that people not within your target in the short run will be at peace and have no fears. Now you confessed that it is aimed at the Shia. When Shia preachers want license to preach, obviously they won't be given and if they preach anyways, you will arrest them and accuse them of going against an unconstitutional law. The same way you will not give them permit to hold their religious procession and then you will accuse them of not having police permit when they take to the road and you hunt them down like birds under the excuse that they are blocking the road in the face of a dignitary, and then go on to interprete that as an "assassination attempt" to kill their image. Why are Sunnis troublesome and always have a sense of insecurity about their faith to put in place draconian measures to prevent others from preaching? Why not simply do your own preaching and let others do theirs? Nigeria is not a Wahhabi Sunni republic like the Wahhabi Saudi kingdom. |
A very long epistle indeed but worthy of every second to read. The professor is a good writer, no doubt. I enjoy the academic maturity and the manner he composed his ideas and arguments. We need more brilliant people like this professor in the North. He really can make people proud of his intellectuality. This is no doubt FRONT PAGE material. It is very academic. the main issue about Arab countries and hijab wearing by non-Muslim women is that the approach is selective. as we already saw pictures of Condolezza Rice, and Hilary Clinton without hijab in the Gulf Arab kingdoms. so why is it enforced on a female minister from Nigeria? except she voluntarily accepted to wear it, then it is selective and insulting because it is discriminatory and not done to foreign female visitors from the USA or Europe. here is a picture of Mogharini, the EU foreign minister. she is covered in Shia Iran, as the Persian Iranians dont care who you are and you must abide by the laws of the land; but she is left without cover in Saudi (the big brother of Qatar) because the Sunni Arab countries loyal to the Western powers "dey look face" on who to tell to cover : https://theiranproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Zarif-Mogherini-600x360.jpg EU Foreign Minister in Tehran with her Iranian counterpart EU Foreign Minister in Riyadh with her Saudi counterpart |

And this is only one out of a number of locations that was attacked...Buratai, appearing at the National Human Rights Commission, said only seven were killed. |
abduljabbar4:where did you read in my post that i claim Buhari ordered the killings? i was only pointing out GEJ did not. you can also point out or prove Buhari did not. no big deal. |
abduljabbar4:leave GEJ alone. GEJ called Zakzaky in 2014 when the first batch of Zakzaky's three sons were killed by soldiers. Zakzaky rejected Jonathan's sorry, and El Rufai was making mockery out of Jonathan that Zakzaky rejected his sorry. El Rufai then went on to visit Zakzaky in a condolence visit in January 2015, in the peak of election campaign, inside the "illegal infrastructure" of the IMN that got demolished in December, 2016. this alll shows that GEJ was not responsible and did not give order for Zakzaky's children to be killed along 30 others in 2014. no need to politicize every incident. |
propaganda mouthpiece calling itself whatever title. look at the advice for "half hijab". half bread is better than none? ![]() this advice for apology from the IMN would have made sense had the army not proceed to launch further attacks on the IMN's Hussainiyah, house of the cleric, cemetery, school, etc. which led to hundreds killed. if the entire story would have ended with the road block incident where few died, and the attacks on private properties and religious center where many more (300 according to Human Rights Watch and over 700 according to the list of missing persons released by the IMN) did not take place, asking for an apology would make more sense. i watched the video on the road incident, and the video does dis-spell the initial claim of assassination attempt on Buratai as nothing but an interpretation of events. otherwise, this group should explain how can people wielding catapults, stones, and sticks attempt to assassinate an army chief heavily guarded by well armed soldiers. if that was assassination attempt, i dont think anyone in his right senses would truly be asking for an apology from the IMN. we all would be calling for them to be dealt with even more severely. |
Sparrow13:So you are Zaria resident? Are you one of those Zaria youths captured on video looting from the corpses of the killed Shiites whose bodies were piling the roadside after the killings? |
vedaxcool:you and manners are an oxymoron. i post here as pastime to share my opinion and learn from others. people like you are for entertainment. check your posts, and they are full of insults and e-fighting. something i do not indulge in or waste my time on. |
SmartChoices:interesting. ok. |
SmartChoices:the ABU lecturer dropped his kids in a house, not on the road. the confrontation on the road was wrong on the part of the lawless youths of Zakzaky. after the road was forcefully cleared, can you explain the rationale behind the soldiers regrouping and going to attack the house of Zakzaky, the worship place, cemetery, etc.? there were people in those places who got affected that had nothing to do with the insult of the lawless youth to the army on the highway. they found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. |
SmartChoices:no one tolerates breach to national security. national security is an asset to the entire nation, including the judge in the court and the soldier on the battlefield. however, what is national security? you also have to educate people on how not to breach it and who has breached it. and no matter what, you cannot do without a court of law. its all about enforcing law and order. even during military rule, the courts functioned, and judiciary remained standing. it is not right to protect national security while destroying the courts and ignoring they exist. national security can be protected too through the courts. |
