Re: El-Zakzaky Is Happy and Comfortable With His Detention – DSS

I was shocked to see this headlines from the website of a Nigerian daily Newspaper “Leadership” that was a quote from the legal Counsel to the Nigerian secret police (DSS) that have been holding the Nigerian Islamic scholar Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky in detention for more than 6 months now without charge of any offense. If I may humbly ask all:Is it possible that a sane person is “happy and comfortable with his detention”?

The Nigerian regime under President Buhari sent thousands of heavily-armed soldiers to 4 sites of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) on the 12th-14th December, 2015 and one of those sites was the residence of Sheikh Zakzaky. The soldiers killed 100s of defenseless and unarmed Nigerians that included women and children, burnt down the residence of Sheikh Zakzaky with him and his family inside the house. He survived by a miracle then the soldiers returned and discovered 12 of them survived the massacre, the soldiers on sighting them open fire on them and brutally executed his 3 sons in his presence then proceeded to rain bullets on him and his wife. The soldiers then went further to parade the wounded Sheikh Zakzaky, a man that has millions of followers within and outside Nigeria, in a wheelbarrow in the most savage and barbaric manner. The same Nigerian regime that sent those soldiers to commit these heinous crimes and atrocities is today telling us that “El-Zakzaky is happy and comfortable with his detention”. Wonders they said shall never end!

Excerpt from the Leadership news report stated “The Department of State Security Service (DSS), Nigerian secret police, says the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, is being detained at his own will.

The DSS is making the statement in defence of accusations by the council to the leader of the Shiites that his rights were being violated. Counsel to the DSS, Mr Tijani Gazali, told reporters on Tuesday that the Shiite leader was held by security operatives at his own will and for his benefits.”

Mr Gazali added: “He needs not give his consent because it is the duty of the DSS to protect every Nigerian especially one who is as vulnerable as the Shiite leader is at the moment”.

But in his defence, counsel to El-Zakzaky, Mr Festus Okoye, said he had not received any statement from his client that would corroborate the claims of the DSS. He also accused the DSS of breaching the fundamental human rights of his client.

“The hearing on the suit filed by the Shiite leader challenging his arrest and continued detention could not commence following the fresh issues raised by the DSS that he had been held under protective custody and not detention.” My excerpt of the news report ends here.

Now the Nigerian regime of President Buhari is claiming that they are holding Sheikh Zakzaky “under protective custody”, then lets ask “what is protective custody?” The Legal-Dictionary website defined “protective custody” as:

“The act of law enforcement officials in placing a person in a government facility or foster home in order to protect him/her from a dangerous person or situation. Most commonly a child who has been neglected or battered or is in danger from a violent person, is taken in as a temporary ward of the state and held in probation facilities or placed in a foster home until a court can decide the future placement of the child. Protective custody is sometimes used to help women threatened by a husband, boyfriend or a stalker, and also for witnesses who have been threatened with physical harm or death they testify.”

Now the analysis of the definition of “protective custody”. If Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat Ibraheem, were placed in a government facility as claimed by the Nigerian regime to “protect them from dangerous people or situation” then who are those dangerous people that the Nigerian secret police is so “kind and generous” to protect them from? The answer is obviously the Nigerian army who attacked their house, killed 100s of his followers, burnt the house with all his belongings that included his enviable Library and all the belongings of his family and extra judicially murdered his 3 sons in his presence. But the fact remained that both the Nigerian army and the Department of State Security Service (DSS) are all agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria that are directly under President Buhari. It is important to not that All the personnel of both agencies are paid by the Federal Government and the Nigerian President is constitutionally responsible for the appointment of the heads of both agencies and they directly receive orders from him.

If we can remember immediately after the inhuman Zaria massacre when the Iranian-based news channel, PressTV, interviewed the GOC of 1 mechanized battalion of the Nigerian army that is based in Kaduna on the fate of Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife, he said:”they are alive & in a protective custody, we didn’t arrest them but we rescue them.” The grand deception by the Nigerian regime of “protective custody” started from here.

To simplify the unfolding scenario to the truth seeking mind, President Buhari sent the Nigerian army to attack the residence of Sheikh Zakzaky – all orders of troop movement comes from the President as he is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces – then the same President Buhari now uses another agency, the DSS, to detain Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife without trial or been charge to court for 6 months. Then the same President Buhari is now telling Nigerians and the world that “El-Zakzaky is happy and comfortable with his detention!”. The honored friend, please is President Buhari not an evil genius?

Who is the Nigeria regime and President Buhari trying to deceive, the conscious Nigerians or the alerted world or both? How can President Buhari hold a person he almost killed and infact killed his 3 sons in detention “at his will and for his benefit”? Why will Sheikh Zakzaky wish to be detained by the regime that murdered 1000+ of his followers in less than 48 hours that included his 3 sons and almost killed him and his wife? What benefit have Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife gained by been in detention for 6 months with 3 of those months incommunicado by the same Nigerian regime that attacked his residence? And which Muslim wish to fast the entire holy month of Ramadhan under the detention of a secret police?

On a last note, President Buhari is chasing shadows and suffers from self-deception and mental ineptitude if he thinks he can deceive the world by burying the gruesome murder of 1000+ defenseless and unarmed Nigerians and dumped their dead bodies in mass Graves. The world in 2016 is not the same as the world of 1967-70 when the then capt Buhari was alleged to have massacred Biafran women and children and got away with it. Today, the world is a global village due to the exponential progress in communication technology and the means of deliverance. The world is watching, the inhuman Zaria massacre can not be buried by anybody as undoubtedly monumental war crimes were committed against defenseless civilians.

“Sheikh Zakzaky’s detention is with his own consent”, says DSS Counsel

By Abdulmumin Giwa

Responding to charges enforcing the fundamental human rights of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, counsel to the Department of State Security, DSS Barrister Tijjani Ghazali said the Sheikh is being detained with own consent.

He explained that the IMN leader is being kept under “protective custody” for his own safety and that the DSS had spent N5.1 million treating him of injuries he sustained when he was attacked last December by the Nigerian Army.

Following this development, Barrister Ghazali applied for an extension of time to review the response of the applicants to the motion he filed before the court on the 9th of June 2016.

Counsel to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Barrister Festus Okoye said he had no objection with the extension of time due to the issues raised, alleging that his client was being detained with his own consent.

He said that their team would require time to respond to those issues raised by the respondents on their client who has been under the DSS detention without charges for the past six months.

The High Court Judge listening to the case, Justice Gabriel Kolawale ruled that the applicants should file and serve the respondents on the motion raised within five days from today.

The same processes were adopted for the case on the enforcement of the right of Malama Zeenat Ibrahim the wife of the revered leader of the IMN.

The judge fixed 13th of July 2016 for hearing in both the two cases seeking the payment of N2 billion each as general damages.
It would be recalled that Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky’s residence was attacked by the Nigerian Army in December last year during which three of his sons were brutally killed by the soldiers at close range and his wife also severally shot. The Sheikh was shot severally by the Army.
During the attack, a compound in the Sheikh’s residence was set blasé by the soldiers burning some of his followers alive including his younger sister.

The IMN leader and his wife Malama Zeenat were abducted by the soldiers with fatal injuries and later kept incommunicado in the DSS detention facility for six months without any charges.

The attack on the Sheikh’ residence followed an alleged blockage of the road along which the Chief of Army Staff was passing near the Hussainiyya of the Movement that was about five kilometers away a day before his attack.
The Kaduna state government had confessed burying 347 members of the Movement in a mass grave after the deadly attack on the Movement that led to the killing of over 1000 followers of the Sheikh in Zaria.

Politics › Thugs Attack Recipients Of Ramadan Food Gifts From Sheikh Zakzaky In Zaria by Onyocha(op):
Thugs attack recipients of Ramadan food gifts from Sheikh Zakzaky

By Abdulmumin Giwa

Recipients of the annual gifts of Ramadan food items from Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky in Gyallesu, Zaria were on Tuesday attacked by thugs carrying machetes, sharp object and sticks where they seized the items and litter the streets with them.
The food items include maize, corn, sugar and rice which are annually distributed to the needy among the Sheikh’s neighbors in Gyallesu and other places in Zaria at the inception of every month of Ramadan.

The Sheikh has done this annually for the past 20 years and more with the number of recipients rising annually due to persistent rising economic difficulties in the country.

One of the members of the IMN committee that distributes the food items annually, Musa Muhammad Tahir explained that on Tuesday the thugs attacked those distributing the food items pelting them with stones and shouting “bamu so” meaning “we don’t want” and they left the two vans containing food items for safety.

The thugs came with their machetes and sticks and litter the whole place with the food item on the vans and forced the recipients to submit the items they received to them or risk being harmed which they did and the entire food was scattered everywhere along Banadeen Street.
As if it was not enough, the thugs attacked the residence of the Sheikh’s sister, Hajiya Maimuna Yakubu along Sarkin Yaki Street where they threatened and beat her, trespass the house and brought out all her food items and litter the street with them as well.
IMN members immediately alerted the police Assistant Commissioner in Zaria and the Police Commissioner in Kaduna. The police escorted them and watched while they took Hajiya Maimiuna away to safety.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna Police Command SP Abubakar said in a telephone conversation that he needs to confirm from the Zaria Area Command before he could say anything on the matter.

The Police were said to have made some arrests at the Gyallesu area but the suspects were immediately released without any investigation into the incident which suggests government’s likely involvement.

Further investigation into the matter revealed that the incident was incited from two Izala sect mosques close to Gyallesu who announced that the IMN members were sharing poisoned food items to avenge the killing of their members by the Army and thugs in December last year.
Haruna Danja Mosque near Kongo in Zaria was said to be the venue of the meeting that organized the thugs into action in order not to allow the people receive food assistance from Sheikh Zakzaky lest they support or incline to him.

A cleric speaking in another Izala sect mosque along Mangwaron Andi Street in Gyallesu was heard calling on the people through the mosque’s loudspeakers not to accept the food items from the Shi’ites because it is poisoned and intended to kill people in revenge of the December killing of their members.

The same messages were seen on the social media being posted by members of the Izala sect without mentioning their sources of information as to the food items being poisoned by the IMN. The sharing of the food item had been on since Monday before it was attacked on Tuesday with no reports of anyone dying after eating the food.

It would be recalled that the same thugs were used by the soldiers to scavenge heap of corpses of IMN members killed by soldiers during the December attack where they stole personal possessions from the dead bodies.

Malam Abdullahi an Islamic teacher with students was one of the recipients attacked by the thugs who insulted and threaten describing him as a hypocrite for collecting food items from Sheikh Zakzaky. Malam Umar residing along Sarkin Yaki Street suffered the same fate with Mallam Abdullahi as the thugs seized the food items and litter the road with them.

With recipients getting between two to four bags each depending on the numbers of their family members, those that are yet to receive the items are still calling on the committee to give them and if they could not come they should tell them where to go and receive their own.
Generality of people have condemned the uncivilized act by the thugs and their sponsors as precious food items were left scattered on the streets while the needy are left in hunger and hardship that has overlapped the entire country under the current regime.

Meanwhile distribution of food items to the needy has continued today for the third day in a row and more people are begging to receive the food assistance to alleviate the difficulties in these hard times.

Iranian Ambassador Completes Tenure, Bids Buhari Good-bye: Discount Media False Propaganda

Contrary to earlier agenda sponsoring reports from Vanguard, DailyPost and NewsRescue that the Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Sa’eed Kuzechi, was being recalled by the Islamic Republic of Iran due to tension founded by agencies protest against the Ambassador, it is now verified that he had concluded his tenure as Ambassador and was to hand over to an incoming.

(NewsRescue regrets that it was misled with the government agency-sponsored agenda that was promoted to it)

The earlier misinformation had raised eyebrows on the Nigeria-Iran relationship and negativities were soon read into it.

It is not clear as to the source of the misinformation that was made public by the News Rescue which was further derailed from the course by some Hausa online publishers that were already reading sectarian meanings and interpretations into it.

It is now clarified that in the same event, the Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie and his Iranian counterpart were with the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to bid him good-bye in a brief ceremony at the Villa as they leave for their various countries.

Meanwhile, the new Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria will soon be arriving the country to continue from where the former stopped.

It would be recalled that the out-going Ambassador had advised the Nigerian government on the need to be constitutional in its approach on the Zaria pogrom which was translated by the pro-Israeli military caucus as meddling into the affairs of the Nigerian government.

This, in addition to the call on President Buhari by the Iranian President Ayatollah Rouhani to look into the attack on unarmed civilians in Zaria and be just, did not please the perpetrators of the crime in Nigeria.
As a result of this, various faceless groups have been sponsored to hold protests, rallies and place advertorials in the newspapers as well as propaganda documentaries on television condemning Iran and even calling on the Nigerian government to cut relations with it and also expel the Ambassador.

Although the Nigerian government never made any official declaration in this regard, it was pleased with the propaganda steps taken by the perpetrators of the Zaria genocide against Iran because it never denounced the propaganda or warned against the impending diplomatic tension it could generate.
More so, the Nigerian government was pleased with another Israeli ally, Saudi Arabia that described the incessant killings in Zaria as a successful fight against terrorism, a statement that raised doubt as to whether the Nigerian government was sponsored by the Saudis to help it kill Shiites who are seen as the major Israeli opponents in Nigeria.

The President was seen to have been rewarded with a high class visit to the holy land where he was taken inside the holy Ka’ba and a Saudi sponsored Wahhabi international conference was also held in Abuja in which the President was honored with a cloth from the Ka’bah as well.

That was not all, the northern Nigeria state governors were also not left behind when they were treated to a “Dollar Bonanza” to support the extra-judicial killing of Shiites in the Muslim dominated northern Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s is seriously affected by the price of Crude in the world as stipulated by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC in which Iran’s decision to go along with OPEC could revive the Nigerian economy which is largely reliant on crude exports.

Illegal detention: Court postpones Zakzaky’s N2bn suit to June 14

By John Chuks Azu | Publish Date: May 23 2016 1:46PM

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed June 14 for hearing in of a suit filed by detained leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole adjourned the suit after Zakzaky's counsel Femi Falana (SAN) acceded for more time to the respondents, who were absent in court.

Zakzaky was arrested following a confrontation between his group and soldiers which resulted in several deaths and destruction of properties on December 12 and 14, 2015.

Zakzaky is demanding an order of court directing his immediate release from custody.

He also wants the court to award the sum of N2 billion against the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff, the Department of State Services (DSS),the Inspector General of Police, and the Attorney General of the Federation(AGF).

In a fundamental rights application, Falana submits that Zakzaky's arrest and continued detention from 14th day of December, 2015 till date without being charged before a properly constituted court of law is illegal and unconstitutional.

He further submits that the prolonged detention violates his fundamental human rights to fair hearing as enshrined in section 36 (5) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.

He argues further that: “the arrest of the leader of the movement without access to his medical doctor is unconstitutional as it violates his fundamental rights to personal liberty and health as enshrined in Section 35 of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, (as amended) and Articles 6 and 22 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act (CAP A10) Laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

Concerns mount over Nigeria’s plan to buy warplanes from U.S.

May 19, 2016 Nicholas Ibekwe Premium Times

https://media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2015/07/Buhari-meets-Obama5-e1437422404521.jpg.pagespeed.ce.4G7s5f8Hjg.jpg
FILE PHOTO: Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari, and U.S. President, Barack Obama in Washington.

Concerns are growing over the decision of the Nigerian government to purchase 12 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft from the United States.

David Kuranga, an investment and political risk consultant, described the warplanes as “crop dusters” and advised the government against going ahead with the purchase.

Mr. Kuranga, who is the managing director of Kuranga and Associates, in the statement, said the warplanes fall below the standard of aircraft used by even the military of African countries such as Egypt and South Africa.

“In a conventional match-up or joint-task force, if Nigeria were ever asked to partner in a multi-national coalition with middle-income nations like Egypt, South Africa, Brazil, or Indonesia, the Nigerian “Air Force” equipped with the A-29 light attack fighters would be joke!” he wrote in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.

“They are comparatively slow, fly at lower altitudes, and are much more susceptible to anti-aircraft artillery that even rebel fighters in Mali were in possession of,” he wrote.

Mr. Kuranga also said that the warplanes are too expensive even as they are inadequate for serious military operations. He said they would constitute waste of taxpayers’ money.

“The fact that the Nigerian government is considering putting in over a 100 million dollars of state money to purchase these inadequate aircraft, as a means of upgrading Nigeria’s air defenses is a laughable! Further it is a poor investment and a waste of state resources.”

He said he found it baffling that the US authorities were seeking to block the sale of the obsolete warplanes to Nigeria when they should be thankful that the Nigerian government is relieving them of such antiquated aircraft.

He said Nigeria should aim to buy more advance warplanes that will put it at par with other militaries in the continent.

“These more advanced fighters would put the Nigerian Air Force on equal footing with South Africa, Egypt, and other middle income emerging powers. Fighter jets like the Gripen SAAB JAS-39 are among the most cost effective and capable fighter jets in operation today. The new Gripen JAS-39 has a price tag of around 40,000 million a unit, but Saab, desperate for new customers has the option of versions of the aircraft using the frames of the older model, already built and in storage at a much lower price tag.”

Mr. Kuranga also wonders why Nigeria is so fixated on only buying military equipment from the US when it could get same from other countries sans the baggage attached to such purchases.

“There is no rational reason for Nigeria to make the United States its primary supplier of military hardware. Their equipment is pricey, comes with serious strings attached, and what they are willing to sell is by far inferior to what Nigeria can afford to purchase from other sources. Further since, training and maintenance will likely be linked to the source country of the aircraft, the fragile relationship Nigeria now has with the U.S. is not fertile testing ground for this scale of a purchase and partnership. Those advising the president to entertain the offer of the U.S. to sell the A-29 turbo prop “crop duster” plane, are seriously leading the administration down a path that is almost certain to go awry.”

Meanwhile, the New York Times in an editorial has kicked against the proposal to sell the warplane to Nigeria.

In an editorial, published on Wednesday the influential U.S. newspaper wrote that selling the warplanes to Nigeria will be a “mistake” as the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is yet to investigate serious cases of human rights abuses and extrajudicial killings by the Nigerian military, especially in the fight against Boko Haram.

“Nigeria’s government cannot be entrusted with the versatile new warplanes, which can be used for ground attacks as well as reconnaissance. Its security services have long engaged in extrajudicial killings, torture and rape, according to the State Department’s latest annual human rights report,” the paper said.

Quoting a US State Department report, the New York Times wrote that while the Buhari administration has moved to curb graft and investigate some right abuses, the government did not “investigate or punish the majority of cases of police or military abuse” in 2015.

One of such major cases, it wrote, was the wanton massacre of over 300 Shi’ites and the destruction of properties by the army after members of the sect had an argument with the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, last December.

The leader of the group, Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, who were wounded during the army siege on sect’s enclave are still being held without charge in an unknown location, five months after attack.

“That hardly seems like an endorsement for selling the aircraft,” the newspaper said.

Politics › As A Condition For Vaccination Shiites Demand Zakzaky’s Release by Onyocha(op): 9:52pm On May 18, 2016
Shiites demand El-Zakzaky’s release as condition for polio vaccination

Members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria also known as Shiites, yesterday demanded unconditional release of the spiritual leader of the group, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as condition for accepting the ongoing Polio immunisation in Kano.

El-Zakzaky was detained by the military in December 2015 during a clash involving members of the group and soldiers in Zaria.

The movement rejected the vaccination at Gobirawa quarters, one of the communities mostly populated by Shiites in Kano.

A member of the sect who craved anonymity insisted that unless El-Zakzaky was released they would continue to turn down the immunisation.

The spokesperson of the body coordinating the exercise in Gobirawa ward, Dala Local Council, Mallam Junaidu, who confirmed the development, said that residents of the community refused health officers from gaining entrance to their houses for immunisation, demanding immediate release of their leader.

He regretted that even with the intervention of religious leaders and other stakeholders who appealed to the people to receive the vaccine, they still remained adamant.

“Another challenge in this area is the influx of migrants from Niger and some states in the northern part of the country such as Katsina, Maiduguri and Sokoto. After appealing to them for several months to convince them on the need to take part in the exercise, they would eventually dash out of the community and other sets would come in with the same rejection mindset,” Ismailia stated.

Sheikh Zakzaky Court Hearing Slated For May 18

“The Movement will follow the laid down rules and procedures in seeking redress and no amount of intimidation and provocation will deter it from the path of truth and justice."

by SaharaReporters, New York May 16, 2016

The first court hearing on the kidnapping and maltreatment of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), will commence on May 18, 2016 at the Federal High Court in Kaduna State.

Sheikh Zakzaky was abducted and abused by Nigerian military troops in the midst of the Zaria massacre, in which at least 347 IMN members were killed by the military.

In a press release issued by IMN spokesman Ibraheem Musa, the organization stated that it was seeking justice and redress for the inhumane treatment of its leader through the federal courts rather than the Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) established by the Kaduna State government to investigate the massacre. The group dismissed the JCI as a “Kangaroo Commission” designed to indict the IMN and protect the military from prosecution.

The IMN further stated that the government is using the Department of State Service (DSS) to intimidate Femi Falana, the prominent human rights lawyer leading the IMN legal team. According to the IMN, the DSS has been pressuring Mr. Falana and the IMN to seek redress in the JCI rather than in court

“The Movement will follow the laid down rules and procedures in seeking redress and no amount of intimidation and provocation will deter it from the path of truth and justice,” the group said in its statement.

The IMN added that its decision to take the matter to court was made by Sheikh Zakzaky and not Mr. Falana, as the DSS has alleged.

To date, the federal government has failed to take effective, concrete steps towards investigating December’s massacre and prosecuting those responsible.

The Kaduna State government recently admitted that it secretly buried 347 victims, corroborating earlier reports by human rights organizations. According to such reports, women, children, and the elderly were among the deceased, with many being burned alive, stabbed with bayonets, and shot at close range.

The IMN alleged that over 850 members remain missing. After the massacre, hundreds of IMN members were abducted and detained in unknown facilities, according to the group.

The organization hopes that Wednesday’s court hearing will finally bring justice to these victims. In the mean time, the IMN has called for the immediate release of their leader and other detained IMN members.

Assuming you were the regulator, how do you intend monitoring this your noble act.
All I need is to get a truck, register myself as a public transporter, go some who and siphon and sell.
Forget this idea.
We should be talking about government working on a better transport platform, not selling fuel.
Your view is over simplistic. Buying a vehicle and registering it as for public transport and then using it to buy and resell fuel. To make how much exactly? Poor investment! And not like your rich customers who can afford to buy at 145 would be readily waiting for you to buy at 120. If you fuel your tank up to 100 liters, your gain isn't up to 3k.

Thank God that's your Opinion.
A better alternative is a state run transport system, with monitoring devices.
Public transport operators are private individuals, now do the maths.
Yea true they are private individuals. But their vehicles are for public service and good. And if subsidizing them would ensure transport fare will not increase and the prices of commodities remain the same, then why not?

Any body is free to go to strike.
Your advice to the president won't work, Nigerians being dubious by nature, will just siphon the fuel meant for public transport and sell to private.
They can't as it will be based on fixed percentage of subsidy to the marketers. More like a percentage discount. The only terrible thing is that filling stations would prefer to sell to private vehicles and may even not allow public transport entrance. Of course that would be resisted both by authorities and the public. Very difficult to do. And if at all, we can have stations for private vehicles collecting no subsidy and some filling stations/marketers can be selected to collect subsidy to serve public transport. All the same the public transport can pay more to be served in filling stations for the private vehicles. And the station's management be vigilant to ensure it isn't cheated by fuel attendants to sell in public stations to private vehicles. The devil is in details. But it can be worked out.

*please read to the end or just read last paragraph*

There should be no strike please.

NLC is acting like a spoilt brat. Their headache is because they were not consulted.

Subsidy has been a problem. So let it be removed completely and let us have a change and try something new.

With the Chinese currency swap agreement coming into operation in July, the price of fuel can go down thanks to competition.

It's difficult times for Nigerians, no doubt. And I would've preferred they remove subsidy after building refineries and the hardship in the economy is less. But they have removed it. So what do you want to strike for? And removing it is the right thing to do now or later.

Calling for strike will only lead to adding more suffering. It's not a cure to the problem. Or at best it's like chemotherapy. The effect is adverse. And there's possibility for breakdown of law and order and people risking their lives. So please NLC should not bother this time.

However my advice to government should be considered. What I would suggest the government do is to tell filling stations to have two pump prices. Private/company vehicles should pay 145 Naira. While public/transport vehicles should pay 97 Naira. This will prevent the poor from suffering and prices of commodities skyrocketing. Don't subsidize the rich. A thorough investigation or research will allow the government know the percentage of private vehicles in Nigeria and what percentage of subsidy to pay fuel marketers. This would be a temporary arrangement until things improve in the economy, more refineries are built, etc. and then all subsidy can be removed for everybody.

Concerns are still growing months after hundreds of members of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement were killed in December during a massacre by the country’s army. With the movement’s leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky still in jail without charge, activists in the UK are hoping social media pressure will help raise awareness about the crackdown in Nigeria. Amina Taylor has this report from London.

Am glad you brought that up.
Please tell me how many women and children were killed in this parricular BH war as against the number killed in the shiite protest?
Also like I pointed out how many soldiers were killed?
I think facts are being distorted. Those on the road were blocking road of the COAS convoy and can be described as protesting youths. Let's not bother why they were protesting or blocking the road and if that was right or wrong and if blocking of road during religious processions and ceremonies is only done by the Shia.

Were those in the Shia mosque and the residence of Zakzaky also protesting and blocking any road? The killings took place in four locations. How did the situation escalate and why? After the road incident, why go after them in the place of worship, house etc.? Were those in the other locations blocking road? Or is it not called collective justice? If one Shia do wrong, hang them all because they're bloody Shia or bloody civilians?

This brother is head of Izala in Zaria. So he is Sunni. A Sunni can kill his brother and mother over a silly belief as it happen in the Middle East and maybe elsewhere. And half brother from different mother. That says it all. Every religious organization in every country around the world somehow get funding from the power base of their religion to propagate and operate.

So far the reason for the killings have changed almost four times. First attempted assassination of Buratai by stick and stone wielding youths. Then they had weapons (aside from stones and sticks against heavily armed soldiers with guns) we haven't seen. Then they were building militia. Then they disturb civil peace and block roads.

Just let their be justice and a sorry to these people and a pat on their back would be enough.

Taqqiya, taqqiya
You claim "Islamic Republic of Iran"
Why monopolise Islam if you believe in "live and let live"

Sunnis cannot pray in their own mosques in Tehran!
They cannot build mosques in Tehran!

But you pretend some fake liberalism here

Unfortunately the Shias in Nigeria report to Iran
You start Ramadan based on the instruction from Iran

Although he might not be a Nigerian, that is who you follow
I speak against his misguidance unlike you who surreptitiously kill

Talking about killing
You even killed Iranian police to pave way for Ayatollah Khomeini to take over in 1979
You suicide bombed Americans to force them out of Lebanon in 1982

Shias kill in quick time. Your executions number this year in Iran is a new record
my friend, we are discussing about a procession in KATSINA. i am not an Iranian. so because Muslims in Syria are killing Christians, let Christians in brazil also kill muslims. what nonsense is that? so because they don't allow Sunnis to pray in Tehran, you too should not allow your countrymen who are Shiite to practice their faith. go to Tehran and do your holy war.

look at the nonsense. so it was Nigerian Shia that killed Shia iran policemen for Shia Khomeini to take over power? silly.

II have problem with people who pollute tawheed by encouraging people to ask the dead for help
The dead are dead and cannot help
Ask Allah alone!

He is sufficient, no matter the sins you have committed
I think the above settles all your beating around the bush. in short, you have a problem with people who call on anyone than or along with Allah. and having a problem with that means you do not have a problem if they are killed for that.

now tell me what is the difference between you and boko haram? you are both Takfiris and you both have problem with those you view as worshipping or calling anyone one other than or along with Allah.

good point sir.

You are a shia
Stop the meaningless taqqiya of the Shias here
It is unnecessary

Tawheed means to worship Allah alone
Your people regard saying "Ya Allah" alone as a sin
You insist we must say "Ya Ali" in addition
That contradicts the the Qur'an says

Quran 39 : 45

Here is Korani faulting sunnis for saying Ya Allah alone
He claims not mentioning Ali is Shirk = associating partners with Allah
Ali (RA) was a great companion, cousin and in law of the Prophet (SAW)
But we know it is wrong to mention his name along with Allah - the mighty

if they like, let them worship excreta. it is not my business. and that shouldn't bother you either if you are sure of what you follow. what people choose to worship or who and how is none of my business. you do not either have to express what you think they do or worship as part of their beliefs. do you see the difference? that man in that video is not a Nigerian. why not pursue him and find him wherever he is and teach him or kill him for his belief if you like?

If you react like this online, one can imagine the brutal and deadly response in real life when you are marching
learn to tolerate dissent and do so with civility
The oppression led you to take over land in Zaria and without approval?
So that is how you defend yourself from oppression -
You guys are controlled from Iran
Has any sunni government interfered when Muslims have issues with the Nigerian government
Iran is threatening Nigeria over you guys. Are you Nigerians?
Again
Show us the C of O for the land in Zaria
And the building approval
Taqqiyah is abused by you Shias. you say it is 90% of your religion
Muslim can eat pork out of necessity. Will he say it it is 90% of his food
Was your life threatened when you claim on this thread that you are not a shia

Democracy?
The Shia will not allow election the outcome of which they cannot predetermin

About bombing - you still do it anyway
You always form alliances against Muslims
That is your tradition
You colluded with the Americans while calling them Big Satan
You allied with the Tartars
you have problem with Shiite beliefs, you have problem with their land (the same place El-Rufai visited Zakzaky on when campaigning in January 2015), you have problem with Shiites in Iran contending against each other over election, and you have problem with Shiites cooperating with America (but no problem with Saudi King calling on America to bomb Iran).

you have still not told me what is your problem with Shiites as a religious group (politics aside), since they are entitled to freedom of belief/worship. your explanations are not plausible. at best, incoherent.
