vedaxcool:shut up! Wahhabi fannatic who supports terrorist groups fighting the Syrian government. if under no excuse and circumstances i can support boko haram against the legitimate government of Nigeria, i dont either see why any sane person can support the equivalent of boko haram Salafist/Wahhabi terror groups fighting the Syrian government. if you dont like your president, vote him out peacefully during elections. most of assad's army, government, ministers, and even his wife are Sunni Moslems. yet your Sunni sectarianism blinds you of all that and you refuse to see because Assad is from an Alawite (Shia sub-sect) background. you dont reason anyways. you will reply with nonsense and mockery and silly emoticon to portray you are flashing your dirty teeth; like this one ![]() Nigerians are not indifferent we are puzzled that a group would proudly state they forced a governor from his motocade for no sensible reason with no apology whatsoever from the group's leader, we are puzzled that while whenever I go to mosque I do not even take a table knife but memebers of IMN would brandish machetes, sickle, knives and other while on their so called processions , we are puzzled that a group being sponsored a foreign govt which has a strategy of promoting sectarianism and armed by such govt, we are puzzled at the mistreatment the sect dished to its neighbors. We await the govt panel on the incident.on fridays, let any government official go to a Sunni Muslim populated locality and see if they would allow him way to pass. he would not. all of a sudden you have grown sensitive and sense to road block because a community you do not like have been punished for it. the "mistreatement" of blocking roads is all over, both in Christianity and Islam. aside, isn't the looting of dead bodies of Shi'ites by these same neighbours/Zaria residents also "mistreatment"? what does Islam says about not desecrating the dead? doesn't the dead have sanctity in Islam? your fulani brothers, even the ones repairing shoes, carry dagger all around. is that religion or culture? most Wahhabi/Salafist oriented groups, not only in Nigeria, but all over the world, be they peaceful or violent, get support from Saudi. when you see free money, who would refuse, including you? |
chriskosherbal:actually what i still find very difficult to understand is the "opinion" of the so called Zaria residents. after the killings, articles were written and "elders" in Zaria gave opinions that the religious ceremonies of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria caused them "sufferings" for decades, and in particular the road blocks. yet, we saw a video following the killings of Zaria residents/ youths looting the corpses of Shi'ites. even though there are Zaria residents who gave positive opinions on the Shi'ites being peaceful, non-violent, offering social services (ambulance) to the sick in Zaria, sharing food on festivities, and protecting the lives of non-Muslims (Christians) during the post election violence in 2011, why should people who loot dead bodies be taken seriously? these same people would block roads on Fridays for Jum'ah prayer. |
Shiites: Why people are indifferent to the killings in Zaria Vanguard On January 30, 201612:05 amIn Issues, NewsComments In the aftermath of the bloody clash between members of the Shiite sect and the military recently, Ben Agande who has been following the development, travelled to Zaria and captured the mood of some of the injured members of the sect still on admission at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital. For Mohammed Abdulkareem, a Senior Secondary School 3 student, life as he had known it in the last fourteen years will never be the same again. He was shot multiple times as he backed off from the Shiite headquarters when the Nigerian army invaded the place to drive out members of the sect who had earlier barricaded the Zaria-Sokoto road and prevented the chief of army staff from passing through. He sustained gun shots to his leg which left him with a fractured femur. The gun shot to his back exited though his abdomen leaving a large wound that was encased in a huge plastic when Vanguard visited him on his hospital bed at the Ahmadu Bello University Hospital. https://cdn1.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/issues2.gif •One of the victims allegedly shot in her private part Apart from the gun shot wound he suffered, his anatomy was seriously affected to the extent that in the last thirty days, it has been impossible for him to defecate normally. Instead, one of the members of the movement who has been assigned to look after the injured members at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital where most of the injured members were admitted, Mallam Anas Abubakar Abi on a daily basis, inserts his hand into young Abdulkareem’s anus to evacuate the faeces trapped between his anus and the rectum. Wearing gloves, Abubakar Abi demonstrated this in the presence of this reporter. He had been put though on this by the nurses. But what Mohammed Abdulkareem is going through pales into insignificance when compared with the fate of fourteen year old girl also admitted at the female orthopedic female ward of hospital. Apart from a broken leg from a gun shot, this innocent looking girl who remained fully veiled on her sick hospital bed was violated in the most private of her body: she was allegedly shot on her private part after allegedly resisting attempted rape by one of the soldiers who invaded the residence of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria where many members of the sect had gone to seek refuge. The narrative as to what really happened on that fateful day has been that of the Nigerian army and the members of the Islamic sect, whose leader is being held in an unknown safe house in Abuja by the security services while some members of its top echelon have been decimated. According to the army’s account, it’s leader, the chief of army staff survived an assassination attempt when members of the sect, against all supplications prevented him from accessing the Zaria-Sokoto road to attend an official function at the Nigerian Army Depot, the passing out parade of new recruits and pay homage to the emir of Zaria. It explained rather cavalierly that those who died in the encounter were those who carried out the attempted attack. Though the army said it came under attack from members of the sect, it never displayed any weapon captured from the sect; neither did it show any member of its troop that was wounded. But the Shiites sect has a different story line. At worst, it believed that it’s members were victims of a premeditated attack from the army which it accused of nursing a grudge against members of the sect who are by the way, minorities in a country where majority of the over seventy million Muslims belong to the Sunni sect. It points to its members who are still on admission at the Hospital as living proof of the Army’s brutality. The two patients under reference above are among the over seventy four others who were brought to the hospital a day after the bloody encounter between the army and the Shiites sect. While a substantial number of the wounded members had been treated and discharged and about four reportedly died of their gun shot wounds, seven remained on admission with varying degrees of injuries when Vanguard visited. Despite the grave violence visited on members of the sect and the huge casualty incurred, the mood among the majority in Zaria including non-Muslims in the ancient Zaria city appears to be at best, indifferent and at worst celebratory to the fate of the Shiites. A cross section of some Muslims who spoke with Saturday vanguard on what befell the Shiites members expressed the views that the Shiites got what they deserved. But what would make some body, especially people of same faith celebrate the brutal killing of its members? Why are Muslims in Zaria not outraged by the mass killings of Shiites members by the military? According to Dr Sadiqque Abubakar, a lecturer in the department of Political Science at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, the indifference of majority of the residents of Zaria City to the fate of Shiites could be explained in three ways; the lawlessness and over-zealousness of the Shiites for a long time without check, the prejudice against Shiite by the majority Sunni community in Zaria who don’t see the Shiites as true Muslims and the pains caused by the Shiites to Zaria residents any time they block the roads for their very many processions and ceremonies. They are accused of annexing places with ease. His view especially on the blockage of road with seeming impunity was shared by many other members of the Zaria community who spoke with Saturday Vanguard. Mr Ikechukwu Chinwendu who owns a furniture shop that shares a boundary with the now demolished headquarters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and has stayed in Zaria for more than fifteen years. He corroborated the views of Dr Abubakar. He said that though members of the sect are not overtly violent, “when they block the road for their ceremonies, they are usually armed with dangerous weapons like knives, Cutlasses, Catapult and all sorts of Arsenal. Their mere sight is terrorizing. People don’t like them because any time they have a ceremony in Zaria, the whole town is brought to a stand still. The police most times appear helpless. The people therefore see what the army did as a way of liberation. There is no body in Zaria who has not suffered from the excesses of the Shiite activities in Zaria” he said. But for Harun El Binawi, a Shiite blogger who lives in Kaduna, the indifference of or even support of the majority Sunni Muslims in Zaria and northern Nigeria for the army massacre against the Shiites has wider dimension with its roots in the international gang up against Shiites worldwide. According to him, “this can be assessed in two perspectives: the silence of the international community on the massacre in Zaria and the celebration of the Zaria community. It is the infiltration of Wahhabism into this country that has brought about the hate mongering in the country. One of the universal agendas of Wahhabism is to kill Shiites where ever they are. That is why in the Middle East, in Pakistan, in Afghanistan Shiites have been target of attack by Wahhabis. The people in Zaria who are celebrating the massacre of Shiites in Zaria are people who have been contaminated by the Wahhabis ideology. If it was Christians that were killed in that encounter, they would have been celebrating as well”. Though there appeared to have been a unanimous condemnation of the seeming excesses of some Shiites followers when they block the roads during their procession, many residents of Zaria believe that the blockage of the road was used as an excuse by the army to deal with the Shiites once and for all, and that the army was emboldened to carry out the killings because the Shiites are a minority who do not enjoy wide support in the immediate community. According to Dr Sadiqque Abubabkar, though the Shiites were wrong to have blocked the road and prevented the chief of army staff from passing, it was not enough reason for the army to visit hell on them. “But if you look at what is happening and when you ask people, they will tell you that they (Shiites) blocked the road. But people do not see what others are doing. Go to any major town in the north on Fridays. What you will see is not different from what the Shiites do, even in Zaria. On Fridays, roads are blocked when it is time for prayers. It is not only the Shiites. Until recently when Governor El Rufai intervened, if you were driving from Kaduna to Zaria, you kept meeting road blocks especially when you come to Zaria. So what they accuse the Shiites of doing, they also do it. It all boils down to the fact that the Shiites are Minorities and they are not seen as Muslims. What ever the Shiites do is magnified. All Muslim groups in the north block the roads. It is not the exclusive preserve of the Shiites. If people want to have reasons to blame the Shiites, they have to have that outside the examples I have given you” he said. And for the state, Dr Sadiqque has a very strong message: How you treat minorities and the weak would determine how People take you serious and will go a long way in ensuring peace in the country. “ We are all Nigerians and we are supposed to be protected by the Nigerian state. we are also expected to respect the laws of the country. Any citizen who breaks the law must be dealt with according to the law. If it is traffic offence, the laws dealing with traffic offences are there. Those laws must be applied. No body must be above the law. We forgo the use of arms because there are people in Nigeria who have been appointed by the Nigerian state to use arms legally but they do not have the right to use the arms given to them indiscriminately. They must be used within the confines of the laws otherwise they are stimulating anarchy. The very moment people realise that those who have been given arms to protect them are using the arms against them; they will also find a means of protecting themselves which means they will also acquire arms because they will not allow themselves to be sitting ducks. That is the danger. The state must ensure that all agencies allowed by the law to use arms use them according to the laws of the country. “I am not saying that the Shiites are absolutely right; they have no right to block public space, to block road, but there are laws to deal with that. It does not call for mobilization of troops to start shooting people indiscriminately. There were people who were going about their legitimate businesses that were caught in the shooting. “What is very frightening is that because something like this happened and because it happened to a minority group, people tend to be happy with it. No matter what the Shiites did, they did not deserve the kind of reaction that they got. Are we saying that we will condone the massacre of minorities, groups we don’t agree with? I think our responsibility is to insist that the laws must take its course. Those who carried out the massacre in Zaria are expected to respect the laws of the country. What would they say if others do not respect the law? That is my fear. We know what happened in the case of Boko Haram. It is really frightening that in a community like this, soldiers will come and kill people. The way even the corpses were handled was very bad. They came with a truck on a broad day light and throw the bodies in the truck. Life has become meaningless. What are you teaching those young boys who were watching?” He lamented. With the setting up of a judicial panel by the governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el Rufai to investigate the circumstances leading to the crisis, it is expected that perhaps a new insight would be given into the incident and perhaps the people of Zaria may give an insight into why the Shiites are treated with contempt and dislike. But with the decision of the Shiites to boycott the panel sitting alleging bias of the panel members, the Shittes may not respect the report of the panel. For the victims still in the hospital, whatever the outcome of the panel, their faith in their sect remains strong. “I may not be able to use my private part for normal delivery of a baby again. I may have to limp through out my life if the doctors are able to mend my broken legs. But for as long as I live, I will continue to follow my faith of Islam and I will continue to follow our leader. No gun can discourage me” said Amina, one of the victims at the ABUTH who was allegedly shot in her private part. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/01/shiites-why-people-are-indifferent-to-the-killings-in-zaria/ |
Super1Star:all that you have stated about them that is wrong is wrong. but two wrongs do not make a right. that is the difference between you and others who do see their wrong actions, but yet still oppose extra judicial killings, massacre, heavy handed use of force, and "teaching people lessons" through bullets. they block roads, and so do many religious groups, before and after the zaria killings. have the others been killed? no. or maybe, not yet. and if not yet, that is why people are not in support of killing for road block. talking about respecting the constitution, how many of the northern Muslims, be they Sunnis or Shias, do have the education to respect constituted authorities, or see the constitution as above their religion? well, very few. they can hold whatever opinion, as far as they do not harm anyone. your accusation that they have killed, must have gone unreported or you are trying to sound dramatic. it is either they did kill someone or they did not. do not say even killings were reported. please bring your evidence. if they had done any such, people expect for such to be widely reported. i have not come across it. the video you are talking about on youtube, you even cited it as covering their "MARTIAL ART" training. i do not understand how martial art amounts to military training or having a militia in the land. it doesnt add up. many churches have boys scouts that are trained in martial arts as extra curricular activity. even in school martial art lessons are given. lest we accuse every church and school of forming a military arm. if those guys had gone against the law by blocking the road, then after the road was forcefully cleared, why did the army later regroup and return to storm their religious center filled up with people attending a religious ceremony, and then also storm the house of their leader and the cemetery? i do not understand this. there may have been people in those places that had no idea about any road block, and only being at the wrong place in the wrong time cost them their lives. this can unfortunately happen to anyone. anyone can be made to pay the price for simply being associated in belief or religious practice with a few zombies who take law into their hands. we should not mix up the facts to justify gross killings. we should fear God as human beings. both sides have made mistakes, and the civilian side has been made to pay dearly. over-flogging issues and piling blame and accusations on them would not make everyone happy. a peaceful resolution should be reached, and dialogue and reconciliation should be done to heal the wounds and also correct the past mistakes by both sides for reoccurrence not to happen elsewhere or anywhere. |
Super1Star:Your mentality is a very sorry one. We are made to believe that the killings were a reaction to road block. And of course the army took it further to attack their religious center and houses and cemetery. Now you are telling us of "state within a state". Doesn't that imply everything was preplanned and the road block was used as pretext? What is the definition of state within a state? Does citizens blocking a highway constitutes a state within a state? Were they armed and trying to harm others and the peace? Did they have any intention against the sovereignty of their own country? In their history, and up to this day after they have been killed, have they ever been violent? Have they killed anyone? Have they rejected violence or have they threatened anyone? When their corpses layed naked, we're not the so called Zaria residents complaining of "suffering" from religious ceremonies that looted the dead corpses? Giving a dog a bad name to hang it is what you have done. And you so arrogantly speak as if you're doing so from a position of power to threaten others. I wonder how these people following their beliefs amount to being tools in the hands of foreign governments. How? If citizens break the law, is there no other way to arrest them and make them face justice in court? Where is the police? Are extra judicial and random killings what you call "warning"? To what end and to who? In a democracy and under the rule of law, your words sound bush and jungle. |
Rrankdonga: |
SFSNIPER:may God have mercy. |
vedaxcool:Tendencies? So people are now killed based on their tendencies/intentions? Even God Almoghty doesn't punish people for having evil intentions. Have they killed anyone or any chicken in their 30 to 40 years of missionary work ? Those accounts of "suffering" and what have you by Zaria residents are unserious. Aren't those the same so called Zaria residents (that is Sunni Muslims) whose youths were videos stealing from the corpses of the Shiites a day after the killings? Aren't those so called residents criminals? |
Boss13:Whatever u refer to as abnormality shouldn't be treated with brute force resulting into a massacre of civilians, even those in the worship center and houses who had no idea of a road block. They suffered because they share the same fate with others who blocked road. How many Christian churches and Sunni mosques block roads? Do we also treat their abnormalities with massacre? |
Shiite Group Releases List Of Members Missing Since Military’s Massacre Last December, Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a damning report regarding the evidence of mass graves in Zaria as well as estimating that at least 300 people were killed in the massacre. by Sahara Reporters, New York Jan 25, 2016 In a Facebook post released on Monday, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) released the names of 705 of their members they claim have been missing since the military slaughtered hundreds of Shiites in December 2015. The social media post stated that the list was preliminary, as the fates of many believed to be killed or abducted by the military remains unclear. In addition to a full list of names, the post also included a poster depicting several of the missing IMN members, as well as disturbing photos of those injured during the massacre. On December 12 members of the IMN clashed with the Nigerian Army on the streets of Zaria in Kaduna State. The military claimed that members of IMN set up a roadblock in an attempt to trap and then assassinate Army Chief of Staff Lt. General Tukur Buratai. However, the IMN said that they were merely holding a peaceful protest. Two days after the massacre, SaharaReporters obtained a video depicting a pile of dead Shiite Muslims stacked along a street in Zaria which were being looted by passersby. On top of the killing hundreds of Shiites, the army also captured the leader of IMN Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky after laying siege to his home for 11 hours. Grim photos subsequently emerged of Sheikh Zakzaky badly wounded and plopped into a wheelbarrow by Nigerian soldiers. More photos later emerged of Nigerian authorities destroying the home, properties, and important Shiite sites by fire or turning them into rubble. Sheikh Zakzaky is believed to be enroute to France for medical treatment of the wounds he received during the siege, according to media reports. Relatives speaking with SaharaReporters have said that it took weeks before they knew the details of Sheikh Zakzaky’s condition and location. As details emerged regarding the massacre, several human rights organizations and foreign governments issued condemnations of the Nigerian military. The US government called upon President Muhammadu Buhari to launch an independent probe into the actions taken by the Nigerian Army. Last December, Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a damning report regarding the evidence of mass graves in Zaria as well as estimating that at least 300 people were killed in the massacre. “At least 300 Shia sect members, and likely many more, were killed and hundreds more injured, according to witnesses in at least two of the sites and a hospital source. “Soldiers quickly buried the bodies in mass graves without family members’ permission, making it difficult to determine an accurate death toll,” the report read in part. The military and Kaduna State government have announced that they are investigating the circumstances of the massacre. However, activists have stated that they do not trust the outcome of these investigations--particularly having the military investigate itself and its Chief of Staff. http://saharareporters.com/2016/01/25/shiite-group-releases-list-members-missing-military%E2%80%99s-massacre |
Zaria Massacre: Nigeria Shi’a group releases 705 names, photos of ‘missing members’ – FULL LIST January 25, 2016Sani Tukur The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has released 705 names and photographs of people it said are its members missing since December 12 and 13, 2015, when Nigerian soldiers carried out raids on the sect’s bases in Zaria, Kaduna State. The raids took place after members of the sect barricaded a road, stopping the convoy of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai. The Army said it used force as the blockade was an attempt on Mr. Buratai’s life. The Shi’a group denies attacking Mr. Buratai. After killing a sizeable number of the sect’s members on Saturday afternoon, the Army, witnesses said, returned to the Hussainiyyah base of the Shiites, as well as the resident of group’s leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, in Gyellesu, also in Zaria. Altercations that followed led to the death of more members of the group, witnesses say. Mr. El-Zakzaky survived gunshot wounds and was taken away by the military, alongside his wife. Human Rights Watch said in its report at least 300 members of the Shi’a group were killed. The organisation also said hundreds of victims were secretly buried by the army. The army has not given an official figure of deaths. Here is a list of 705 names and towns of origin released Monday by the Shi’a group published on its Facebook page. The group says the list is provisional. Jabioro:i do not subscribe to the idea that GEJ killed his three sons. GEJ was swift to call Zakzaky on phone and even tender a verbal apology which Zakzaky rejected. El Rufai was quick to his keyboard to cheer the news on Facebook that "Zakzaky rejected Jonathan's sorry". google it and you may still find it on el rufai's facebook page, if he has not deleted it. Zakzaky wanted the Jonathan governement to bring the perpetrators who killed his sons and 30 of his members to justice. the same el rufai, during election campaign, visited Zakzaky in his "illegal structure" to win election favors. now, after hundreds of Zakzaky's followers killed in December 2015, another 3 sons killed, his wife shot twice, his deputy killed; houses, graveyard and worship center demolished; weeks of detention; missing people; reports of mass graves; el rufai is clutching at straws to justify massacre and extra judicial killings. now we hear about "state within a state"; boys scouts/boys brigade referred to as "militia" or "private army"; illegal structure; procession without police permit; weapons storage but nothing found or displayed for the public to see; assassination attempt with sticks and catapults in the face of heavily armed soldiers e.t.c. but under Jonathan, the Nigerian Army was tagged by the same el rufai as "the Jonathanian genocidal army" when in 2014 three sons and 30 members of Zakzaky's Islamic Movement in Nigeria were killed. compare the magnitude of the calamities in 2014 and in 2015 and assess the reaction of el rufai. these are the double-standards people dont like. |
abimic:Zakzaky was reportedly shot six times, and his wife twice, and another 3 sons of his killed in December, 2015. members of his group were reportedly allowed to see him in a government facility in Abuja. do you really think that is enjoying? according to those who visited him, it was reported that Zakzaky and his wife were possibly flown out of the country for treatment of gunshot wounds. i guess you really envy and wish for such "enjoyment". ![]() |
vedaxcool:The ramblings of a lowlife. All you do is insult. Deal with the message and its content and not with the messenger. You can further Google on the fake images spread as propaganda weapons to evoke sympathy. You insult and insult so much that you see the truth to the extent you can't defend your turkey and Saudi who are the ones fueling the Syrian civil war. Without those two countries' support for terrorists, Syria won't have had any civil war. The entire world finally realize that if not that Assad commands the popular support of the majority of his people and his army stood with him, most of his army is made up of Sunni officers, he won't have survived. Therefore the so called revolution in Syria is a sectarian coup promoted by Sunni states and foreign powers who see Assad as a stumbling block to their imperialist desires and goals, and in particular, having to secure Israel's security since Assad hasn't signed peace with Israel as Sunni led countries have done, and Assad continues to support resistance groups that fight against Israeli occupation of their lands. I'm sorry to say this but truthfully I have to so you may wake up from your blind hatred and stupidity. You sound more stupid than a typical Sunni Arab with all the name calling and fuming like a panting dog or a tired pig in mud. At least the Sunni Arab does it in his quest to dominate others, including your sorry likes, and to further his ethnic-religious interests. But you do the name calling and Arab racism against a non-Arab Muslim country because you're simply put, blind! The same Kurds you've made an authority are Sunnis as your sorry self who are oppressed by other Sunnis, Arab and Turkish Sunnis. The footage of the ISIS oil tankers in the Syrian-Turkish border destroyed by the Russian Air Force is online for your weak mind to comprehend and stop using a baseless claim by whoever to claim a so called fact when evidence makes it clear you're blinding yourself and rejecting truth out of nothing but extremism. May God forgive you and open your eyes. This is not about religion or whatever fairytale you choose to believe in. It's about truth and being ethical. You are fond of empty arguments backed with mighty insults to feel you are making sense. Nonsense! Continue talking to your likes silly. |
vedaxcool:Fake Images of Starvation in Madaya Surfing the Web pro-saudi wahhabi media using fake pictures to gain sympathy. the question you forget to ask is how can those countries, like saudi and turkey, which sponsor terrorists in syria be able to pass in weapons and terrorists into syria but fail to pass in food for civilians? the next point is, while you cry for Madaya based on sectarian sentiments, you forget that there are Pro-government towns, villages, and cities in syria that suffered starvation from imposed bloackade by pro-saudi and pro-turkish terrorists. there are four predominantly Shia towns in Syria that have been besieged for years and suffered from starvation: Foa, Kafryah, Nubbol, and Zahra. the same terrorists once decided to turn off the taps on Aleppo to send its people thirsty. let the terrorists leave Madaya and the people will be safe. Bashar al-Assad had ruled since 2001 and not once did he make his people starve. why are syrians suddenly starving after autocratic and tyrannical regimes in the middle east chose to stoke sectarian tensions and export ( "democracy" ) what they dont have and dont give to their own citizens to syria? you disturbingly lack credibility when you quote someone like erdogan. isn't this the same erdogan who the russians show footage of having ISIS smuggle syrian oil into turkey, and showed that his son is involved? erdogan is a terror sponsor. he is the number one culprit in the destruction of syria, the smuggling in of terrorists and weapons and the fight against the legitimate syrian government led by assad, and the smuggling out by ISIS of syrian oil across the border into turkey. it is not excusable for any country to send in terrorists and weapons to overthrow the elected president of another country. you can whine and fume all you like Mr. Vedaxcool, but one thing remains for sure: assad has survived and will continue to in spite of the sectarianism against him for being born into the Shia sub-sect of Alawites. |
Goke7:if its the AGF asking them to make the request they visited him with formal, then he is giving them assurance of the possibility of his release if the proper method is used. otherwise, he would have given them a vague statement about law and justice to take their course and investigation to be carried out. you are talking of the NSCIA led by the Sultan himself who is the head of the country's Muslims. i do not think he would sell a dummy to the Sultan. |
BREAKING: AGF asks NSCIA to formalise request for Zakzaky’s release January 7, 2016 https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Ibrahim-Zakzaky.jpg Shi’ites leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky Ade Adesomoju, Abuja The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has asked the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to formalise its request for the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (also known as Sh’ites) Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. Zakzaky and some members of the group have been in detention after the Shi’ites clashed with troops in the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, in Zaria in December 2015. Special Adviser to the AGF on Media and Publicity, Salihu Isah, said in a statement on Thursday, that Malami gave the advice on how to press for the detainees’ release during a visit to him on Tuesday by a delegation of NSCIA put together by its National President and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. The NSCIA 10-man delegation led by Prof. Daud Noibi, who is also the Chairman of the NSCIA Contact Committee, was said to have requested the AGF to intervene for the release of El-Zakzaky and how injured members of his group could be given adequate medical attention. The delegation also sought the AGF’s intervention so that members of the group who died in the clash could be given befitting burial. But the AGF, was said to have in response, enjoined the Council to formalise its demands to the Federal Government because of the sensitivity of the issue. The AGF said, “I will do whatever I can within the confines of the law to see how an amicable resolve can be achieved. “So when your demands are formalised, I will treat and facilitate it to the appropriate quarters accordingly.” The AGF also said though he would not engage in blame games, it was however necessary for clerics to teach their followers on good conducts and how to co-exist with their neighbours. He said, “As Muslims, we know what is obtainable in Islam especially in the area of rights, individual rights, especially rights of way. “As Muslims, we have a collective responsibility to create awareness through our preaching on tolerance and compliance according to the dictates of Islam.” Malami described the clash between the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army in Zaria as unfortunate and sad. He said the incident was an avoidable one, stressing that it was important to investigate it to avert a re-occurrence in the future. Speaking earlier, Noibi told the AGF that when the Army/Shiites clash occurred, the Council quickly summoned a meeting presided over by the Sultan of Sokoto with a view to seeking ways for a sheathe of sword by the warring parties. He requested that the composition of the Commission of Inquiry to be set up by the Federal Government to include representatives of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs among others. He said, “No doubt, you are aware of the seriousness of the issue that brought us, that is the clash between Shiites and he Army…When it happened, the Council called a meeting presided over by the Sultan because it is the duty of the Council to meet stakeholders to have amicable settlement. “We have met the Army Chief, the Inspector General of Police and others, and now it’s your turn as Minister of Justice. “We want to request that those injured in the clash should be given adequate medical attention, while those who are dead should be released to their families for proper burials.” Other members of the delegation were the National Secretary of the Council, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Malam Yunus Ustaz (SAN), Prof. Dahiru Yahaya, Mallam Musemil Hanga, Prof. Ibrahim Suleiman, Alhaji Ibrahim Jega, Malam Ishaq Sanni, Imam Ahmad, a former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Tsav (rtd), and Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN). http://www.punchng.com/breaking-agf-asks-nscia-to-formalise-request-for-zakzakys-release/ |
Breaking news: Demonstrators break into Saudi embassy in Tehran during protest over Shiite cleric’s execution Protesters storm Saudi embassy in Tehran, set it ablaze Published time: 2 Jan, 2016 20:52 Edited time: 2 Jan, 2016 22:09 Iranian protesters broke into the Saudi embassy in Tehran after launching several Molotov cocktails into the building. The rally in front of the embassy was triggered by Riyadh’s execution of a prominent Shiite cleric. Footage uploaded on Twitter showed angry Iranian protesters pillaging the ground floor of the Saudi embassy, tearing apart furniture, flags, and documents. It was then engulfed in one big blaze, seemingly after the angry mob, outraged over the Saudi execution of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh al-Nimr, threw Molotov cocktails at the building. Protesters gathered in several cities across Iran on Saturday angered by the Gulf kingdom’s execution of al-Nimr, who was put to death along with 46 other prisoners. Nimr had been the most vocal critic of Saudi Arabia’s ruling family prior to mass protests that erupted in 2011. He called for regular demonstrations against the ruling elite. Shiites have long complained that they are victims of discrimination in the Sunni powerhouse. Nimr had often called for better protection for the country’s Shiite minority. https://www.rt.com/news/327755-saudi-embassy-iran-protest/ |
Saudi Arabia executes 47 people, including top Shiite cleric Riyadh (AFP) - Sunni Muslim Saudi Arabia executed Saturday a prominent Shiite cleric, who had been behind anti-government protests, drawing angry condemnation from Shiite-majority Iran and Iraq. Related Stories The execution of Nimr al-Nimr and 46 other men, including Shiite activists and Sunnis accused of involvement in Al-Qaeda killings, was announced by the interior ministry. It prompted calls for demonstrations, but the brother of the 56-year-old cleric called for calm in oil-rich Eastern Province where Shiites complain of marginalisation. "This action will spark anger of (Shiite) youths" in Saudi Arabia, but "we reject violence and clashing with authorities", said Mohammed al-Nimr. The interior ministry said the 47 men had been convicted of adopting the radical "takfiri" ideology, joining "terrorist organisations" and implementing various "criminal plots". A list published by the official SPA news agency included Sunnis convicted of involvement in Al-Qaeda attacks that killed Saudis and foreigners in 2003 and 2004. Some of them had been convicted of taking part in May 2003 attacks on expatriate compounds in Riyadh that killed 35 people, nine of them Americans, the ministry said. Nimr al-Nimr was executed this morning along with 46 other people convicted by Saudi Arabia of " … Others were involved in attacks the following year on a housing complex in the eastern city of Khobar, in which 22 people were killed, most of them foreigners, and other assaults. Among them was Fares al-Shuwail, described by Saudi media as Al-Qaeda's top religious leader in the kingdom. Notably absent from the list, was Nimr's nephew, Ali. He was arrested at the age of 17 and allegedly tortured during detention before being sentenced to die, sparking fury from rights watchdogs and the United States. All those executed were Saudis, except for an Egyptian and a Chadian. Some were beheaded with a sword while others were executed by firing squad, said ministry spokesman Mansur al-Turki. Executions have soared in the country since King Salman ascended the throne last January, with 153 people put to death in 2015, nearly twice as many as in 2014. - 'Oppression and execution' - Saturday's executions were condemned by Iran and Iraq as well as the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, and drew protest calls. "The Saudi government supports terrorist movements and extremists, but confronts domestic critics with oppression and execution," said Hossein Jaber Ansari, spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry. It will "pay a high price for following these policies," the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying. Turki described Iran's reaction as "irresponsible". "We are completely confident with what we're doing and we believe in it and do not care how others view our procedures, whether on justice or implementation of sentences," he said. Tehran ally Hezbollah said Saudi Arabia's rulers are "global criminals" and denounced Nimr's execution as a "heinous crime". Saudi justice ministry spokesman Mansur al-Qafari said "interference in the kingdom's judiciary is unacceptable". Rights groups have repeatedly raised concern about the fairness of trials in Saudi Arabia, where murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy are all punishable by death. Iran's Basij student militia, connected to the country's elite Revolutionary Guards, called for a demonstration Sunday outside the Saudi embassy in Tehran. In Saudi ally Bahrain, dozens of youths from the majority Shiite population staged protests to denounce the executions. And prominent Iraqi Shiite lawmaker Khalaf Abdelsamad called for the closure of Riyadh's embassy and urged the government to expel its ambassador. "The execution of Sheikh al-Nimr will have serious consequences and bring about the end of the Al-Saud (royal family's) rule," his office said. Nimr's brother said he had hoped that "wisdom and a political solution" would prevail to spare the cleric's life. And he warned that his execution could trigger "negative reactions" inside and outside Saudi Arabia. "But we hope for peaceful reactions". The Bahraini government and the United Arab Emirates voiced support for the conservative kingdom, saying the executions were necessary to confront extremism. - 'Instigator of sedition' - Nimr was arrested in 2012, three years after calling for Eastern Province's Shiite-populated Qatif and Al-Ihsaa governorates to be separated from Saudi Arabia and united with Bahrain. The interior ministry had described him at the time of his arrest as an "instigator of sedition". A video on YouTube in 2012 showed Nimr making a speech celebrating the 2012 death of then-interior minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz. "Let the worms eat him," Nimr had said, while also criticising the rulers of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, where the Shiite community has also complained of marginalisation. The anti-government protests that erupted in eastern Saudi Arabia five years ago coincided with a Shiite-led protest movement in Bahrain that was later crushed with help from Saudi troops. http://news.yahoo.com/saudi-executes-47-including-top-shiite-cleric-075812543.html |

Shiites to seek legal redress over Zaria clash By Habibu Umar Aminu, Katsina, Maryam Ahmadu-Suka & Andrew Agbese, Kaduna | Publish Date: Dec 31 2015 12:33AM | Updated Date: Dec 31 2015 12:34AM The Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly known as the Shiite movement said yesterday that it had assembled a team of lawyers to seek redress over their recent clash with the army, just as it accused the federal government and the army of sponsoring campaigns against them. The leader of the movement in Katsina State, Yakubu Yahaya, said at a press conference that even if it would reach the International Criminal Court in the Hague, the movement would pursue justice. According to him, despite recent campaigns to portray the movement negatively, it is not violent. ‘To even our surprise some Islamic scholars and groups have joined the fray of castigation against us, some even happy at what befalls us, they should be ware that tomorrow it might be their turn’ he said. The movement condemned what it described as ‘hate campaigns’ by the Army against its members. In a statement by its spokesman, Ibrahim Musa in Kaduna yesterday, it accused the government of releasing a video clip to justify its attacks on the movement. He said, “We condemn the hate campaign by the army against the movement by releasing a three-minute propaganda video clip to buttress the fraudulent claims that IMN has a military wing that is a threat to the Nigerian nation”, the statement said. “Those members of the IMN that you see marching in that propaganda video are the Volunteer Aid Group of the movement. Many organizations in Nigeria have such units by various names whose duties essentially is development of the body and soul as well as community service such as crowd control, provision of social services and the rest”, it added. Meanwhile, the Kaduna State government yesterday said it would name members of the judicial commission of inquiry into the Zaria recent clash in January. A statement from the media aide to the state governor, Samuel Aruwan, said progress had been made in setting up the commission of inquiry. “The Kaduna State government has largely completed work on the composition and the terms of reference of the proposed Judicial Commission of Inquiry. However, the government is still engaged in the extensive consultations that are required prior to a formal announcement. Efforts are also being made to contact all the nominees for membership of the commission, as well as the secretariat and resource persons that will support the work of this important inquiry”, the statement said. Shiites add value to Zaria’s economy, deny military wing By From Maryam Ahmadu-Suka, Kaduna | Publish Date: Dec 27 2015 11:24PM | Updated Date: Dec 28 2015 6:43AM Members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria yesterday denied military claims that it operates a military wing, saying they have been adding value to the economy of Zaria community. The movement was reacting to the claim by the General Officer Commanding 1 Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army Major General Adeniyi Oyebade which said last week that the movement has no militant wing and some residents in Zaria who urged the government to ban the movement. “There is no such thing as a militant wing of the Islamic Movement called Hurras as he claimed, as it is already known to all, including international human rights organizations, that the movement is not armed hence, it is highly ridiculous for him to make such a claim. More so, the bulldozing of our buildings which they did exposed the lie that we carry arms, because no weapons were found with us,” the movement’s spokesperson Ibrahim Musa said yesterday in two statements. The statement described the military’s claim “as a cheap way of misleading the public on the inhuman way the army treated members of the Islamic Movement using unnecessary maximum force on armless people including women and children.” On Zaria residence claims, movement adds value to the local economy in Zaria during its programmes. He said the stories in some newspapers calling on government to ban what they called “EL-Zakzaky sect” was “a carefully calculated scheme by the perpetrators of the brutal Zaria massacre to further their evil agenda in Nigeria.” He said Zakzaky lived in Gyellesu peacefully with his neigbours despite the purported lies by the faceless group and various attempts by security operatives to cause disharmony at various times. The statement said it is therefore “absolutely mischievous and ridiculous for anyone to claim that residents have been placed under bondage for 20 years.” The statement said members of the movement have been voluntarily donating bloods nationwide during its programmes as could be testified to by the National Blood Transfusion Service which had issued letters of acknowledgment every year for the past three years to Sheikh Zakzaky. He added that “who knows whether those soldiers that came to kill us or their relatives might have even been saved by our own blood in the past?” He said Zakzaky’s residence had been a refuge to Christians and other minority ethnic groups during communal crisis, while its medical wing, ISMA, has been involved in community-based programmes such as sanitation, immunization as well as providing support in public hospitals during strikes, among others. The movement said its activities are not sectarian that was why it’s has been organizing Quds day rallies for over 30 years to support the Palestinian cause who are majority Sunni Muslims and Christians. It said its Sallah feast programme has been a platform where Nigerians irrespective of their faith attend to discuss issues affecting them. It said its film village destroyed by the army was established to shoot the movie on the life of Sheikh Usman bn Fodio, who is great Sunni reformer. SECURITY ALERT: Credible sources suggest that a flag operation is underway in Sokoto with the view to attacking members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria in Sokoto. The plot if executed, will involve shoot outs at the Army Barracks in the name of attack by members of the IMN which may justify heinous attack on the target by the military. This plot is not unconnected with the stance of the Sultan and the NSCIA on the recent Zaria massacre. The Sultan earlier condemned the attacks and demanded for investigation, which did not go down well with the government. We wish to draw the attention of relevant security agencies and the general public that the IMN is not and will never be involved in any armed conflict with the security agencies or any group in the society. Therefore any such attack attributed to IMN is false and mischievous. SIGNED IMN SOKOTO source: www.islamicmovement.org ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PRESS RELEASE - Nigeria: Army looking to frame Islamic Movement Friday, 25 December 2015 23:08 Press Releases False flag operation feared IHRC has received credible reports that fresh from its recent killing spree in Zaria, the Nigerian army is concocting a pretext to move against more leaders of the country's Islamic Movement. IHRC is concerned that a false flag attack was staged against a military site earlier today by the Nigerian army in order to implicate members of the Islamic Movement. It is feared that the attack will be falsely attributed to members of the Islamic Movement and used by the Nigerian army to justify further violence against the Islamic Movement. After hearing of the attack, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria released a statement refuting any suggestions that it would resort to violence despite the bloody military crackdown on the group that has killed hundreds of its followers "We wish to draw the attention of relevant security agencies and the general public that the IMN is not and will never be involved in any armed conflict with the security agencies or any other group in society. Therefore any such attack attributed to IMN is false and mischievous," it said. The Movement is particularly alarmed by a statement issued by the army saying it will "not sit back" and allow the head of IMN's Resource Forum, Dr Abdullah Danladi, to create what it calls "unnecessary tension and disaffection in the society". The army accuses Mr Danladi of spreading misinformation about the recent army violence against civilians in Zaria. The Islamic Movement's leader Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky was amongst those shot and detained when soldiers began attacking the group in Zaria on 12 December. His condition and whereabouts are still unknown.ÂÂ In its rampage the military has deliberately targeted the symbols and institutions of the Islamic Movement. Sheikh Zakzaky's personal residence has been destroyed, as has his mother's grave, and the Hussainiyyah Baqiyatullah which served as the movement's centre, in a bid to uproot the popular grassroots movement in its heartland. Photographs and testimonies have also emerged of mass graves where the army is reported to have buried victims of its attacks. Many in civil society organisations have condemned the atrocities committed by the Nigerian army against the Islamic Movement. Matthew Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto called for a national day of mourning for those killed by the army in Zaria. He said “As far as I am concerned, the Zaria killing is a national disaster. I expected the President to have declared a national mourning, especially because of the number of people that lost their lives.” Notes to editors: For media enquiries or further details please call +44 7903 053362 or +44 7958 522196[Ends] [Ends] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IHRC is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Over sixty graves were exhumed yesterday in the ongoing persecution. Soldiers together with government agents went back to the Shuhada cemetery and completely destroyed it including the graves of Ayatullah Zakzaky’s sons which were killed last year by the Jonathan government. They are currently demolishing Sheikh Zakzaky’s family house and mother’s grave as in image above. https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/islamic-zaria.jpeg Kaduna demolishes Sheikh Zakzaky family house and mother’s grave Human Rights Watch has condemned the actions involving the killing as many as a thousand faithfuls and secret burial of over 300 as unjustified. According to the Human Rights Watch report, dozens of faithfuls were also killed during the aggression at cemeteries. IMN Press Release: It has come to our notice that the Kaduna state Governor has ordered KASUPDA to demolish all the properties belonging to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. Yesterday, KASUPDA under the protection of security agents razed to ground what remained of our Husainiyya Islamic centre. We are particularly irked by the demolition of our newly bought property adjacent the Husainiyya, a former NTC compound, which they did yesterday. That compound has been in existence since the colonial times. https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/rufai-zakzaky.jpg El-Rufai during condolence visit to El-Zakzaky last July Governor Elrufai didn’t stop at that, his government’s KASUPDA demolished our Fudiyya Islamic centre, where we were holding our Islamic programmes before relocating to Husainiyya about five years ago. That building was also duly occupied by us and was built by the owner over thirty years ago. It was in the midst of other people’s houses. Today also KASUPDA demolished the family house of Sheikh Zakzaky wherein lies the remains of his mother who died a year ago. WE CONDEMN ONGOING DEMOLITION OF OUR PROPERTIES-Elrufai Should be Called to Order Wednesday, 23 December 2015 20:40 It has come to our notice that the Kaduna state Governor has ordered KASUPDA to demolish all the properties belonging to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. Governor Elrufai didn’t stopped at that, his government’s KASUPDA demolished our Fudiyya Islamic centre, where we were holding our Islamic programmes before relocating to Husainiyya about five years ago. That building was also duly occupied by us and was built by the owner over thirty years ago. It was in the midst of other people’s houses. Today also KASUPDA demolished the family house of Sheikh Zakzaky wherein lies the remains of his mother who died a year ago. The house is located in Jushi qtrs of Tudunwada Zaria. We condemn this act of brutality against the Islamic movement. This atrocity is a pointer to the fact that, while the government is busy telling the public that they want peace to prevail after the massacre, but at the same time it is out to provoke us more. We believe if the government is truly searching for avenues for peaceful resolution to this crisis, the government should be seen by all to be following due process in whatever breach they are accusing the Movement. tempest01:very revealing. i do believe there is more to these killings than we are being made to know. and i feel it does have to do with religious/sectarian persecution. he is not wanted to preach and grow his own version of Islam. no one in his right mind would believe that a road block is what led to soldiers opening fire, and to then follow up and attack the mosque, the house of zakzaky and the cemetry and in all these different locations going on killing spree. it does not add up as the Human Rights Watch report rightly pointed. |
