LeSudAfricaine: Your inferiority complex is astounding. I'm sorry to say this but i think you're quite unintelligent. You're posting pics of beautiful African people clad in beautiful African attire as if it's something to be ashamed of. Then you go on and qoute a useless wihte man as if his words are gospel. And you wonder why I keep saying Nigerians are whitewashed and backward in their thinking. Only someone with no sense of worth will go and sing praises of white people when they think nothing of him. You are pathetic I told you self hatred in Nigerians is a pride. Hence they chose to adopt Indian waiters attire as their traditional wear. That's why the always make jokes of dark skinned Africans and call Ghana people charcoal. They confuse authenticity as backward cause fake is civilization to them. They are awfully sad to be black if they could they would change it. |

martyns303: 1. Next time learn how to write first before asking foolish question of not knowing how to read.
2. I said an "executive", there was no where u saw "manager", you apparently don't only have a writing problem but a reading one too. It is not rocket science if you want to find out about top Nigerians at standard bank, you will have to do find out for urself, I won't put someone's job in jeopardy.
3. Do u think I would come here and dish out details about myself. I can mention a few NL's who know me outside NL to attest to who I am, I don't have to pretend to be or act big. You are a lier! Period! Seemingly you don't know who you are you need other people to identify you? Sahara! Typical Nigerian. "Do you know who I am syndrome" Now that we have proven that you were lying, let's more on. |

martyns303: No I don't have a reading problem, but you obviously have a writing problem. As you apparently don't know how to use punctuations, "which standard bank branch or head office" and not "which standard bank, branch or head office". Cos from the second statement u appear to be asking "which standard bank" placement of the comma.
From your less than average knowledge I had to be talking about a branch manager. Facts, I just gave you loads of it. The comma nonsense won't save you from your lies. In SA a bank manager is not an executive and you should know that as someone who stayed schooled and worked in SA. Or you were trying to act big as usual? Now tell me, which Standard bank branch has/had a Nigerian bank manager? And which school did you go to that you had to pay R1mill, i guess for five year secondary, that is, R200 000 a year? |

You guys are really not helping matters, no one is talking ill about you guys, you guys are going back in time to root out forgotten shameful scenes.
If Nigerians start to talk again, you guys will say another thing. Why can't we just let the sleeping dog lie and let go. We're more matured than this.....biko Actually we don't loose any sleep over Nigerians insults on this forum, we don't care frankly. You won't see us running to get Nigerian visa for anything. If its work its done by agencies and we go there do our thing and get right back. And to pretend that Nigerians do this to us only is a facade. They hate themselves so much that they have to talk down to all blacks, undeservingly so. Nigeria is not a role model in anything. Ghana on the other side is exemplary and hence they are loved in SA. |

ucheokpara100: tell us a single project accomplished by a black South African from their president to the least person? u guys only like claiming people's wealth from shop to infrastructure. You people just attack without getting the right information. As you always use whites and apartheid as insult, do you know pre-94 end of apartheid 80% of blacks did not have electricity, less than 30% had running water and sanitation. Who then do you think built all the rest for South Africans? You guys are not the brightest sparks, are you? |

martyns303: Are there 2 standard banks in SA and do you think it would make sense to mention the branch?
I left about 3yrs ago, visited last year!
What exaggeration? I saw black staffs being loaded at the back of a "combi" like refugees, myself and a few student protested for a proper bus to be provided for them. Am just going to shut up here, cos I know how this will end. Again pardon me Do you have a reading problem? I ask which Standard bank, branch or head office? Branch with high executives? You are such a lier! The highest position in a branch is a branch manager. Now, tell me with Standard bank branch has a Nigerian Bank manager and I will show you what a lier you are with facts. |

martyns303: Hi Donna, please do not take this post as an insult or intent of insult. I would be making a few references just to clear my point. True Nigerians are boostful and arrogant its a default thing and we sometimes don't recognize the fact that others find it offensive, even the way we talk, its like a fight and foreigners find it irritating, pardon us, its just our lifestyle and culture.
Now to answer you, No! South Africans don't treat everybody same, certain races are sacred and you know it.
South Africans have this disdain for Nigerians and/or other blacks who have achieved certain level of success that is unexplainable. I have a friend, Uche, who I later had to work under his supervision. He was one of the top executives at standard bank and one of a very few blacks in such position, during a conference, SA staffs started throwing shades at him for no just reason, using his ethnicity as Igbo, that they are briging drugs to SA, he should advice his brothers to be like him. Granted it was a good advice or so to speak, but it was just too obvious the intent. In his response, he said he won't deny his brothers, but maybe if SAs stop taking the drugs his brothers won't have to bring it in.
Now on a personal note. On the life of everything I hold dear, I schooled in SA, atteneded one of the finest institutions, a predominately white school, I could count the number of blacks, as of when I graduated it had cost me a little above R1m. Do you know that the black students were being prevented from using the school gym by the white students and nothing was done? It wasn't until myself and another Nigerian came that we changed that, they were treated as tho they lack the intellectual capacity to succeed there and only interested in their fees. Black staffs were treated with disrespect except we intervane.
True Nigerians have got a loud mouth, something we don't recognize until we have travelled and seen other cultures, but you cannot deny that these things don't happen or all that have been said is untrue. Again if you find any of my comment offensive, askies neh!!!
Dankie!!!
Pardon all typo errors When were you at that school (year or decade) & which standard bank are you talking about? Branch office or head office and when? You see these are things that makes me mad! Lies and generalization upon exaggeration, it irks me badly! |

ayokellany: Visited SA for a month when Mbeki was president and all I got then was love not the hatred you jostling for right now. If Brakenfell does not depict opulence to you, I will glad trade its standard for every Nigeria city and trust me there will be no competition BTW SA & Nigeria #Fact. I work as contractor and am exporter, simply put a bizman. I put money into anything that can turn into profit. Why do you ask ? There are several Yoruba in SA say about 60/40 or max of 65/35 BTW the 2 tribes. They are just not as naturally loud the Igbo's. I do not stay in Pretoria my last visit this year was to Pretoria but am back to Lagos.
Girl you need to take a chill pill, its not my problem if your sister or her husband can't afford the standard of life she desire in Nigeria. I particularly spend triple what I spend weekly any time I visit SA. Its the way it is anytime you travel to cities where their cuisine is naturally not your first taste or beta still you should ask her to send me a pm I might just be able to offer her an upgrade but thats only if she not over 27yrs. Didn't you hear she's married tjooo! |

DonnaCorleone: LOL. You're truly delusional. Sorry to spell that out to you. Now tell me, what's so wrong about a woman who relies on herself like your friend Yandi? Having mortgage is not only limited to South Africa. In all developed countries people have mortgage & car payments, not excluding all kinds of insurance. Regarding Lekki, do all Nigerians now live in Lekki? Puhleeze. If I were to live in Nigeria, I think I'd be more at home in Lekki than anywhere else because those are the kind of living conditions I'm accustomed to.
A South African woman recently made a thread here on NL, asking if she should leave her Nigerian husband & return to SA because she was having a tough time with your poor standard of living & diet. That goes to say that we're worlds apart. You guys can only come here online to boast & make yourselves feel good, but reality says otherwise. Really. Where is the thread? I always advise these girls to visit Nigeria first before moving there. They have no clue what's on the ground. |

You insulted us first by your silly assumptions of us envying you. I wasn't talking about you as staying in Pretoria, please don't mix things up. Your major problem is thinking South Africans care about Nigeria & Nigerians outside of the ones in SA. We are not in competition with African countries but other continents. We are out of many African countries league truth be told. The only competition is in soccer and yes that's were we are still strategising on how to beat you. But that's sport anything else we don't give a dammmn. We are trying to deal with our challenges and grow. I only asked of your job coz i thought you stayed in SA. |

MduZA: As we speak another thread is in progress, genuine Nigerians are discussing about the bill which is about to be passed by their government restricting women from working during the night..unsurprisingly a fellow called Lezz is changing the subject,he has just brought into the interactions his daily bread ,south Africa this south Africa that.. Leave that one he is obsessed with us. Surprisingly he stays in Pretoria, I think from his many arguments. He is full of envy! |
Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerians And South Africans Engage In E-fights by OohLalah(f): 8:16am On May 28, 2016 |
ayokellany: That maybe true but I have never been friends with any Nigerian working in South Africa so i won't know. In fact I think its absurd and all my friends share the same sentiment if am to compare that with being self employed here in Nigeria I think its completely ridiculous. Maybe cos am not the white collar job kind of guy, I barely admire having to climb ladder to attain my goals in life too, so naturally should appear as make believe to you.
While living in Brakenfell, there's this sexy friend of mine Yandi. She works with the traffic unit in that city n never cease complaining about things such as mortgage on car n rent. I dare to say a very small car at that, the only set of South Africans that have seen drive the cars my friends does like Benz C350, Audi A8 etc are whites but I might be generalising like you said. I believe I should have a fair representation with those driving in n out of malls but you are right about the quarters I discovered what you will pay through your nose to have as a rich accommodation in Lekki is the basic standard of every apartment I lived in SA so yeah you can call that opulence. Brakenfell, Cape Town & Opulence in one sentence? You see? But you had the audacity of making that general statement about black South Africans envying you? Audi A8 & Merc C350? You really failed me on this. By the way, most Nigerians in SA are ibos, I have never seen an employed ibo most of the are into drugs and scams. I have seen a few Yorubas in scams not into drugs but most Yorubas I know are working white collar jobs, another one is an architect with own business, another one with his family, which is a family friend has a tire business. By the way what business do you do? |

DonnaCorleone: LMAO. In your dreams! I for one have not met a single Nigerian that I envy, so please take a page from your own comment & stop generalizing the populance. What rich lifestyle do y'all live here? Because most are barbers, shoe-repairers & hairdressers. We share the same living quatters, so maybe it's actually an upgrade to you to be living in such opulence, as compared to the kind of living conditions you're used to back home in your country. Your post is just hilarious to me, full of make-belief & wishful thinking.
Lastly, South Africans, the hateful ones, aren't biased or picky in their hate, they dish out the same treatment to the Pakistanis, Bangladeshi, etc. You see! I told you, the arrogance is embedded in their DNA. When in SA if he has ever been, where exactly does he live in opulence? I think SA lifestyle as a whole is opulence to them. And to be honest Nigerians and Somalians in that order are the most hated by far in South Africa. But delusion is a thing they leave by. |

DonnaCorleone: This is exactly what almost got one Nigerian guy shot in my flat. I can vouch that the people living here are decent & good people. Never there was any kind of xenophobic type argument amongst the tenants, until the incident with the Nigerian guy because of the attitude & big talk. That shut him up immediately! SA guys don't like to argue all day like women, they'd rather DO. We almost saw something scary, but thank God other people interverned & smoothed things over before they go out of hand. A Nigerian once told me in Cape Town CBD that this is not Kayelitsha, i must go back to Kayelitsha. Imagine the nerve? That's when shiit hit the fan. Thats the thing our men are brought up and taught not to talk too much it's women's thing to talk too much i guess Nigerians are taught just the opposite. . |

Thank you Well, this is what they throw in our face all the time now we wear it with pride.
