Politics / Inspirational Message To Refugees From Seast by OPCNAIRALAND: 6:02pm On Nov 28, 2016
https://www.nairaland.com/3490851/29581-displaced-nigerians-return-neighboring#51454254

Northerners forced from home due to hardships in NE return home.

I am very proud of these people in NE. They have endured war, massacre, starvation, kidnap, loss of property, their schooling interrupted, businesses destrkyed, their infants murdered in front of them, their pregnant wives impaled, their husbands and sons beheaded, their underage girls rap.ed and impregnated, families separated and then forced out of their country to go live in refugee camps in neighbouring countries. Here they are, as the hardship and wars in their towns subside they begin to return home to begin a new life. No where is sweeter that home, sweet home!

These people are not going to Lagos, Abuja or Kano....NO, they are resettling their destroyed lands to rebuild. This is strength, this bravery, this is heroism, this will be the new strength in a future North.

I hope others across Niger who are scattered all over Yorubaland as refugees will heed calls from their leaders to come home. If they cant hear their leaders call, they should take lesson from the Kanuris and follow this heroic act.

You should rather be worried about the volatile attitude of your so-called leaders, their whorish attitude when it comes to leadership. Its now clear why Buhari has to work with Tinubu for Last election but an adage says that a snake can never fail to give birth to what is Long.

The problem my forefathers made in politics was not detecting that whorish attitude of yorouba politicians on time.

Long story short, you are here to lament the hands dealt to your forefathers by afonja. No problem, follow arrows and go that way ^^^^ bucket dey there, tissue dey to wipe eyes.

Whorudeceiving, follow your brother that way ^^^^ and give him emotional support. He is grieving the mistakes of his forefathers. Thank you both for stopping by. grin

The presentation you've put together can be easily done for other groups of women, obviously the lace blouse isn't an African inventions, so the 50's photograph isn't really relevant.

Ijebu women

The 50s picture is very relevant. Her adornment has meaning and history, it speaks overall of the society she is a member of.

Im glad you brought out this picture of Ijebu women. For a very long time explorers had asked permission to enter into the sanctum of Yoruba Temples and their request was always turned down. Around 1940s the restrictions were a bit relaxed due to influence from Yoruba scholars who wanted to document for anthropological records and history. So access were given into the outer rooms to allow pictures, interviews and sometimes observation of cult rituals.

This was one of the recordings of high priests of a female cult in the Sungbo Temple. This is their regalia when in the Temple.

Sungbo is formaly referred as Bilikisu Sungbo. She is the famous Queen who bore a child for King Solomon of the dynasty of King David. Her resting place is in Eredo.

The woman in foreground sits with feet rested on a log. In other words, in a state of divine purity, with a tefillin resting on her head and bears the star of david and other insignias of office. She is the high priest. Others to her left and right are ranking mystics in varying degrees of ascension or mysticism. Outside the Temple they will dress in normal clothes with a shawl draped on the shoulder to indicate they belong in Sungbo temple.

Following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with regard to the governorship elections in Ondo State, I extend congratulations to Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN. on the outcome of the election and for his perseverance and persistence in seeking that office.

I must also congratulate the people of Ondo State for their generally exemplary conduct on election day and for demonstrating their will to shun the regressive politics of yesterday by returning to the progressive brand of politics that has been the trademark of the people of that state.

I congratulate all party members in the state, particularly the party leadership in the Southwest.

no one will just give Igbo a Presidential or VP slot. Presently they carry a lot of deficits and are doing nothing to improve assets.

They identify as PDP. Well APC just defeated PDP in Ondo, and they are jubilating. Which political party will invest its chances in a people who see nothing wrong in political blunders? grin

Recently they had a top level elders meeting in Enugu at the end of which a communique was issued. The keypoint of the discussion is a reinvestment and re energization of economy in SE, prompting the leaders to declare to their people to return home. Following that, they organized a cultural unity day announcing that all the SE governernors and industry giants wil be there. You would think wisdom will prevail and they will do it in SE, no, they choosed to do it in Lagos, in contradiction of the message calling for economic revitilization in SE.
Moreover, the unity day was scheduled for yesterday and its not clear that it was held.

If you are chairman of major political party you will pick one of these people to be your flag bearer?

Today, Lagos State is a mega city in the south- west; Abuja is also becoming a mega city in the north but south- east has none! It is time for Ndigbo to unite and fight for a common course. The Igbos that are leaving both within the country and in Diasporas should come back home and invest in developing the south-east zone.

TO chart a common front for Igbo people, irrespective of political, religious and other affiliations, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will hold Igbo unity day and cultural festival in Lagos.

See a pre independent Nigerian picture of an Igbo woman that was taken in Onitsha.
See the those corals?
Different parts of Igboland evolved differently, independent of other parts.

This picture highlights the problem I outlined earlier in regards to traditional Ibo clothing and style.

This woman wears damask, but we know damask is not an Ibo material. She has beads but we also know thats not an Ibo jewelry. Mention damask and we know you are talking about Yoruba, mention coral beads and we knoq you are referring to Edo and proto Edo culturea.

So what explains why this Igbo woman is wearing outfits that are foreign to Ibo culture? Is this another evidence of acculturation or assimilation and borrowing of foreign clothings and style?

Lol. Eboes are funny people. From GEJ till 2019, to Biafra or we die and now Atiku 2019 cheesy. Very funny tribe.

certain things are predictable for 2019:
1. Ohanaeze is going to come out and declare 100% support for Atiku and call out that any Ibo who does not vote Atiku is a bast.a.rd. They will give the support without any negotiation and tradings for the position of VP. Even if they ask for VP, realizing Ibo political deficits across the nation, Atiku is likely to look elsewherw for VP.

2. Nwabueze, Ekwueme and their hosts of leaders will come out and complain that Buhari has marginalized Ibos and thats why Atiku got their endorsements. This will further fire up their supporters who will castigate Atiku as anti West and anti North but pro East and that he has promised them a referendum on Biafra if he wins.

3. Atiku has competed in every election since 93 to become President and failed in each one. He is hungry for that position and will tilt to anyone that can get him in. He has realized what Tinubu can do and will approach Jagaban for help. Jagaban has learnt, with Buhari, the dos and donts of alliance with North. Obj and Tinubu have reconciled but not Atiku. Tinubu will hold Atiku's nose to the fire. The conditions will be too hard for Atiku to accept. He may have to switch to Oshiomhole with offer of VP.

4. Atiku is a personification of corruption and theivery. Those Governors that came to government house with intention to get rich quick but has been reined by Buhari's anti corruption crusade and a lot of their bank rollers wil jump camp, abandon Buhari and form new party under Atiku. Same goes for Senators and Reps.

5. If Atiku is able to satisfy Jagaban's demands and secure his support, all the thieves with money hidden away and those almost bankrupt by Buhari will see new horizon to return to business of corruption as usual and will pump plenty of money in. Likewise, foreigners who benefitted under a regime of corruption but are finding it hard to get contracts under Buhari will also aid Atiku.

6. Either way we look at it, Soludo is deffinitely going to be in Atiku's cabinet. Soludo is pro Yoruba and may succeed in convincing West to relax and give some reliefs for infrastructural developments in East.

7. Corruption and free looting will return big time but Atiku will use secret agencies to persecute perceived enemies instead of turning them to fight criminals.

After APC won, 5%ers formed camp under PDP. So we expected you to step up and lead opposition against the ruling govt. So far, only Yoruba men, Fayose and FFK have stepped up and led opposition against Buhari.

The only opposition 5%ers lead are against Tinubu. But Tinubu is not government.

If Yoruba have a penchant for betrayal, Ibo has a rooted trait for fearing Hausa and Fulani.

Case in point, you displayed the same cowardice after millions of you were killed in Arewa and you shouted war against North, but when the opportunity came you turned your back to them and went into minority areas planting flags and declaring them a Biafran republic. You even attempted a march into Yorubaland but we had to whip you back into your sense.

Where is your opposition now to Buhari? If not Yoruba men that have spoken up for PDP there would be zero opposition and Buhari would just do as he likes everywhere.

Stop opposing Tinubu, he is not government....Buhari is government, face him if you have any ounce of brevity in your spines. grin

We look for ways to bridge gaps and even if our camps are different, we explore ways to unite it.

Actually the 2015 general election revealed that there are a lot of people in "Nigg.a Area" that think like, well, Ni.ggas, supporting, campaigning, and championing an old semi-literate coupist from the 1980s to come and lead them.

The 2015 elections revealed that despite having a democracy for 16 years, a free and fair election was something difficult for "Nigeria" to do, as many states were still inconclusive.

And above all, the 2015 elections revealed that the people of the former Eastern and Midwestern regions would always be backstabbed by Oduduwa, in preference of looting their resources and ability while sharing as junior partners to the Fulani Caliphate.

So much for revelations

jeez, Eastern and Midwestern!

Ive not heard that term Midwestetern in over three decades.

Anyway, if for over 30yrs Yoruba has continued to backstab you and you continue to take it and lament instead of stabbing him back, then you have a problem, not him!

lmao. grin grin

First of all, may God forgive me for what Im about to say. Some few days ago someone here wrote and posted a thread filled with elaborate racist remarks against Ibos. I was shocked, it was very denigrating and compared them to a low beast. I couldn't even comment that's how hard it hit me. I believe its thrown in thash but thinking to the statement made above by Iwuanyanwu and recalling some of the things that poster said about Ibo is making me think twice if he was wrong.

So if we take stock of demography in each state is Ibo majority?

Is Ibo majority in Lagos, Ibadan, Sokoto, Edo, Kano, Kogi, Niger, Rivers, Delta, Borno, Jigawa, Ekiti, Ondo, Akwa Ibom......?

As much lands and populations Hausas have they are mindful not to claim themselves a majority.

Iwuanyanwu, a millionaire and politician talked like a IPOB in Nairaland. One should not wonder where these Igbos get their ridiculous statements and warped ideas from....people like Iwuanyawu!
