Papi85:
Although AFCON rules state walking off or refusing to play for a prolonged period is grounds for elimination, the decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON title two months after their trophy lift is a bad look for CAF.

It should be within the power of the officials in real time to disqualify a team, but it's a hollow victory for Morocco to appeal and win in this manner, weeks after the trophy lift.

Morocco accepted Senegal's return from their 10-minute walk off, gladly resumed play and took their penalty.

Missing it, losing the game, then appealing to gain the trophy doesn't sit right, even if by the letter of the law there are grounds to do so.

@BenJacobs
This same Morocco petitioned CAF after they lost WAFCON finals to Nigeria, questioning the eligibility of Ashley Plumptre. But our legend said, football should always be won on the field.

Breaking news

🇲🇦 BREAKING: Morocco have been announced as AFCON winners with final result overturned by CAF.

Senegal have been declared to have forfeited the match with Morocco declared 3-0 winners by official statement.

CAF statement tonight. ⤵️🇲🇦
Another case is going to CAS this week. Na wah for CAF oo. Anyway, we know Senegal as the champions, the memories of their bold fight in the final cannot be erased from our minds.

For the likes of Sunday Oliseh who mocked Nigeria over the petition to FIFA, saying we should win on the field and not through the back door, what will they say to Morocco now?

Very irresponsible president. Maduguri has been bombed and several lives lost but this vagabond is not concerned. But he is busy moving round the world for lobby.
Trump had already asked UK PM to send the werey back. See let me tell you people, WE DON'T HAVE A LEADER IN THIS COUNTRY.
This visit was the same reason Maiduguri was bombed yesterday, to give the opposition something to criticize about the trip. Old tactics.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is preparing a formal response to a communication from FIFA regarding its petition against the Democratic Republic of Congo national football team over alleged player eligibility violations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The dispute stems from Nigeria’s elimination after a 4–3 penalty shootout defeat—following a 1–1 draw in regulation time—to DR Congo. The NFF subsequently raised concerns that some players fielded by the Congolese side may not have met eligibility requirements, citing issues related to dual citizenship and national team representation rules.

Despite the petition, FIFA has yet to announce a final ruling on the matter. Meanwhile, the governing body has proceeded with tournament arrangements, including preparations involving DR Congo. In a recent media engagement, DR Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre discussed his team’s readiness for the upcoming FIFA intercontinental playoff scheduled to take place in Mexico.

Reacting to the situation, NFF Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi confirmed to BSN Sports that FIFA has formally contacted the federation regarding the petition. He noted that the NFF is currently reviewing the correspondence and working on an official reply.

"FIFA has written a letter to the NFF on which we are working on the response to FIFA." Sanusi told BSN Sports in an exclusive interview.

However, Sanusi declined to disclose specific details of FIFA’s letter during his remarks.

The development leaves the case unresolved, with Nigeria’s prospects of participation in the intercontinental playoff still uncertain pending FIFA’s final decision
So FIFA already contacted the NFF regarding the petition? The secretary General said they are preparing a reply..is it a reply or an appeal? Na wah o

Hi Great Thread of Nigerian Football, it is indeed a good day to be alive and be excited for what 2026 still promises.

Today is My Birthday and I want to remind everyone out there not to give up on whatever their dreams, aims, aspirations, project pursuits, goals, etc are.
Victor Osimhen did not and look at him today and his story is still not done. John Mikel Obi did not and now he is a bonafide Nigerian legend. Rashidi "Rasheed" Yekini did not and he remains the one of the pinnacles among African Strikers today.

Lastly, on a flip note, Elyte89 is still not giving up on his Super Eagles job dream despite we all knowing how impossible it is and he is also not giving up on Nigeria heading to USCAMEX 2026 World Cup, so honestly what excuse you get? grin

Cheers to me and Cheers to us all.... God Bless You.
Happy birthday. Enjoy your special day.

Someone who was interested in contesting the Oyo governorship election in 2015. He was a strong PDP man, worked for Obasanjo, but refused to be part of Ladoja’s impeachment. He didn’t just start politics today.

Seeplusplus:
In the build up to the 2023 general election, Sule Lamido was on every platform saying all sorts about Wike.

Now the same man is singing Wike praises.

In all this PDP crisis, I blame Atiku. Man is so overrated. Only a hungry asslicker is still with Atiku. The man has fallen so badly that he's so ashamed to stand up

How can a man who once fought the famous OBJ sit down, fold his arms and allow Wike, a baby politician turn PDP to his personal property?

Atiku is so useless and shameless
After GEJ lost his re-election bid, it was Wike and Fayose who picked up the party, financed it, and reorganised it. Where was Atiku then? He was in APC, went to hustle for the presidential ticket with Buhari. Even Makinde was in SDP at the time.
Wike and Fayose have invested in the PDP, which is why they cannot be taken for granted now.

IBB007:
lol…Makinde go move go ADC
He will reconcile with the Wike faction to be able to present a successor in the PDP. Going to the ADC will not save his candidate, it will give Wike's faction the chance to present a candidate, which will split the votes with the ADC. The Accord candidate is a former PDP member and is very popular. The old PDP votes will be shared among Accord, ADC, and the Wike PDP faction, and they expect to win against the APC? Makinde needs a successor to protect him after 2027.

Did he promise he will do a single term?.
The law bars him from being sworn in three times. He was sworn in when his boss died, and again last year when he won his own election.
The new amendment is what will prevent GEJ from seeking the presidency again.

Those agbada wearing NFF officials seems not interested in the development of our football.
Recently, the NSC, led by Shehu Dikko, appointed Tunde Adelakun to scout talents for Nigeria from the diaspora in athletics and other sports.
Tunde Adelakun was the one scouting for Gernot Rohr when he was the coach of Nigeria, even still followed and working with him to get players to represent Benin Republic.
I hope everything works out well with the deal with the NSC.

The only challenge now is INEC and the judiciary
I really doubt if he will get even half of the votes he got in the last election. The dynamics have changed, and the Muslim–Muslim ticket protest votes won’t work again.
The presidency going back to the North in 2031 is also a factor that will work against him. APC will massively win Lagos in 2027.

Whatever amount the government spends to stabilize the price is still a win for them, as they are also benefiting from the sudden high price of crude oil. But there should be no subsidy again.

They preferred to start an injured Osimhen against Morocco when he was on the bench, by the way.
And he started against Egypt along with Adams while Osimhen was on the bench. Any difference?

Non Career Ambassador ls a political appointment. Reno never worked in the ministry of Foreign Affairs, thus can never be a Career diplomat. If you look at the list, Non Career Ambassadors got juicy posting, it is political rewards.
