CAF has started again...they did this at under 17....now at under 20....senior world cup qualifiers..the same thing will happen...anyway i hope two will come out of this group?

This is just a WAFU tournament, not a qualifier to African youth championship which flying Eagles had qualified for already

UP BENDEL!!! The NPFL is back to the Ancient Kingdom of Benin!

RALPH OKHIRIA, Benin City

After dropping from the Nigerian elite soccer league, for over a decade, Bendel Insurance Football Club, Benin City on Monday, made a historic return to the Premier League with a 2-1 defeat of 3SC Football Club, Ibadan.

The highly anticipated make-or-mar encounter, between both teams, was concluded on Monday morning at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Benin City, Edo State, after a tension-soaked Sunday afternoon encounter that was postponed due to bad weather.

With the 2-1 win, the Edo Arsenal as Bendel Insurance are fondly called, has secured the 3 points it needed to top the NNL Table and book a place in the 2018/19 NPFL season.

Receiving the team at the Government House on Monday, a visibly-elated Governor Obaseki congratulated the management and players of Bendel Insurance Football Club for defeating 3SC FC of Ibadan to proceed to the Nigeria Premier League.

Obaseki said the victory was another fulfilment of his administration’s promise to Edo people and residents.

“My joy knows no bound because of what you have done today. I congratulate you and congratulate myself. I say this because it is another promise kept. We promised Edo people that we would bring Bendel Insurance to its lofty status which we all will be proud off and make sure they go on to play in the Premier league,” the governor said.

He described the Deputy Governor of the State, Hon. Philip Shaibu who led the team to his office as the father of the New Bendel Insurance FC and commended him for the giant strides he made in rebranding the club.

“We have built a team and have a machinery that will win the premier league, I am giving the club the sum of N25 million to show how grateful we are as a government,” Obaseki said.

That is interesting. I do not see Iceland beating Croatia with 2 unreplied goals. In the Qualifiers, they defended and scored the odd goal.

Good thing, it is in our own hands.

Croatia is planning to rest their key players..

We need a draw because i can't see Iceland beating Croatia 3:0. We can not play for a draw though. We need to try to get a goal or two.

The Argentine team is low on confidence. If we get the first goal, they will take more risks and leave more spaces at the back... We need to stay organized and counter with purpose. Iceland caused their defence plenty of trouble with the counter.

if Iceland should win 2 nill and we play goalless draw with Argentina (God forbid), we are out..

If Croatia should win, they may rest their best players against Iceland

But 96 team was under 23 plus Uche Okechukwu, Taribo and cant remember the third over aged player. 96 was a mixed of under 23 and three over aged players while 94 was the real deal. Abacha's and South Africa's politics denied us the chance to see the 96 Super Eagles so i think 94 set was better.

Taribo was not considered over age in the olympic team. Uche, Amokachi and Amunike were the over aged players

Firstly, let me clear the air on Onigbinde issue because that seems to be the only thing Mr Forgiveness has been pointing at and using to tag me a tribalist.

Anybody that can go back and dig up that particular comment should please do. I don't have enough time I would have dug it up myself. Or let forgiveness dig it up and post it here this moment.

What I said was that "the general opinion of people" then was that Onigbinde took Opabunmi and Adepoju (not even Ogbeche) to Korea/ Japan for tribal reasons.

I have said it here before that I was a sport writer in the late 90s but though I did less of it as at 2002. Onigbinde was interviewed by the Nigerian press on why he took both players to the WC. He said (quote me any where) that Adepoju(who he called his joker) and Opabunmi were his boys. The general public definitely will take that as tribal sentiment. And that was exactly how they saw it even in the Press Circles.

This very obvious incidence was what I pointed out and he tagged me as a tribalist!

In another post I highlighted the fact that he has remained till date the last coach from that part of country. This statement which is obvious truth and the one highlighted above are what he has been pointing to for the past 3 or 4 years.

Now, I know the thinking is that I hate Onigbinde because he is a Yoruba man.

But what if I tell you that High Chief Adegboyega Festus Onigbinde is my inlaw?

He and my wife are from Modakeke in Osun state, and not that alone they are from the same part of Modakeke that have a common ancestry!

Any body that thinks I have tribalism in my blood is definitely having a very false impression. I was born in Yoruba land, I had all my education including my first degree in Yoruba. I am married to a Yoruba woman and all my children bear Yoruba names not just at home but as their official names in school. My closest friends in life till today are Northerners(most of whom are even Muslims) followed by the Yorubas.

Now, one thing I can say is if I want to criticize some body I do so without considering his ethnicity or religious back ground. Same goes for when I want to praise someone. For eg I have said it here on countless occasions that Emmanuel Amuneke was my childhood friend and hero. When he won the U17 WC I praised him to high heavens but when he failed at U20 I dont think any one here criticised his team selection as much as I did.

Obefemi Martins, just like the Amunekes, was a boy I saw when he was growing up. He used to come watch us play at the White sand pitch at Orile-Iganmu, in Lagos. When we the older ones would leave the pitch they the younger ones then would take over.
Martins watched me play.
But when the clamor for his inclusion in this current team was taking place here did you see me join in? Because objectively speaking I knew he would not really make any difference at this point in his career.

And wait for the shocker, a member of the current Super Eagles team is a distant cousin from my mother's side. And yes I know it would be difficult to figure out that player because I have not been carrying any singular player's matter like gala on my head.

And now Mr Forgiveness, I have decided not to respond to any of those dirty jokes you throw at me (cos I see them as jokes), not because I am timid, not because I cannot speak for myself but because I don't want to rub myself on the mud. You purposely try to provoke me so I can join you on the floor right? But no because I don't take you serious. I don't even read most of your comments on here anymore because you have lost it completely.

I don't know you in person but if this is how you actually reason in life, then it is so so unfortunate. I will not ask you to stop throwing stinking things at me. If you like you continue. But just know that you have become a big distraction to this thread and I will continue to ignore you until you change your manner of approach here.

the comment/post was not on this thread but on olymipc U23 thread, that was feb 3rd 2016

Austin Ejide was in goal for that Mandela challenge friendly and Uche Nwofor got the brace. The game was played in 2013. Balogun was not in the team yet.

But the one Goldfish80 is referring to was played I think in 2014, after the WC. Daniel Akpeyi had his debut and Balogun played RB. His poor judgement of the ball on the touch line cost us the late equalizer.

Balogun was not at fault, it was Oboabona.

Our rule for fattening is to attain 55-60kg live weight within 8 months. I tell new farmers to forget all those scope people tell them about keeping animals till they weigh 90-150kg. You wont see it and you will end up running at a serious loss. Look at the margin u make when you buy 2 month old weaners at 4500 and keep them for 8 months:
Compounded feed and spent grains: 4972
Housing: 2222
Attendant and other costs:555

Total cost including animal purchase: 12069
Min weight will be 55kg and @ 450/kg equals 24750
Profit is 12681.
Even if profits are 10000, with 30 animals you know what you will make.

When you start breeding, that 4500 enters your pocket.

feeding cost is cheap for 8 months..i will need to have your feeding formula

Between 680 and 800naira

With the price of fish now, shifting to durante sinking pellet (it cost 350/kg) after two months will still give good result instead of the stress of pelletizing..most of the local ingredients are not even pure again..

But peter Rufai was no longer at his prime by that point. He did not fail you due to nerves. He failed due to diminishing ability.

I remember Ejide's debut for Nigeria, he was 19 then. The guy was shaking like a leaf. It was a friendly game.

i remembered that game, it was against Paraguay, that was the match Bartholomew Ogbeche used to secure a spot in 2002 world cup squad, a scissors kick

Akpeyi is not my option, my ideal goalkeepers at the moment are Vincent Enyeama and Okechukwu Ezenwa.

How ever you and I am aware that Ezenwa has not been that active for some months now , why Enyeama is active for his club.

The NPFL is on break but the French League is not.

Am not against trying Alampasu.
Try him in a match that even if we loose we may not be pained that much.

The match against Algeria is so much important that we can't afford to try an inexperienced goalkeeper as far as national team is concerned.

Try him in a friendly match or in any of the matches where we must have qualified so that even if he flops we will not have so much regrets.

i think there is FA cup final this week, that may help ezenwa fitness..how old and how experienced was Eyeama when he got his chance against england in 2002 WC finals?

EMMAACHILE:

CUCUMBER TYPES
 American slicing: These cucumbers are the biggest and thickest-skinned, which makes them
the best choice for shipping. Harvested at 7-8” long, they have a medium amount of spines
and bumps distributed over the dark green skin of the fruit. This traditional American type
remains the most popular cucumber in some markets.

 Pickling: These are smaller than slicing cucumbers, an essential feature for canning. Pickling
cukes also are delicious eaten fresh because they are crisp and juicy. European and American
pickling cucumbers are differentiated by appearance, with the Americans having fewer, larger
spines and bumps and the Europeans having many small spines. The European picklers are
the best choice for making gherkin pickles because they are nicely proportioned at a very small
size.

 Cocktail: Usually picked at 3-4” long, cocktail cucumbers are known as some of the best for
flavor and crunchy texture. Their small size and thin skins have earned them the nickname
“snack cucumber” because they are so easy to eat out of hand. They are cylindrical in shape
and spineless. These are usually sold in bags or clamshells since the skins dehydrate so
easily. Cocktail cucumber varieties are usually grown in the greenhouse.

SEED BREEDERS, GROWERS, AND MERCHANTS SINCE 1973
Then there are the varieties categorized as Spineless and Thin-skinned. This covers a lot of territory,
literally. Cucumbers are popular the world over and many types bear the names of the regions or
countries where they originated.

 Dutch: 14"-long, thin, spineless cucumbers usually grown in a greenhouse. Their thin skins
contribute to their excellent eating quality, but cause them to dehydrate quickly. They are often
found in supermarkets shrink-wrapped in plastic.

 Beit Alpha: Smaller than the Dutch varieties, Beit Alpha cucumbers average about 5-8" long.
Their flavor and crisp texture make them a desirable choice for gourmet markets. Like the
Dutch cucumbers, they are thin-skinned and need to be protected from cucumber beetles and
dehydration.

 Asian: These are spiny, slender, and long — as much as a foot long. They require trellising to
keep the fruits long and straight.

When Asian cucumbers were first introduced in the United States, they were marketed as being
burpless, meaning they don’t cause gas. Since then, many other so-called burpless varieties have
been introduced. Because “burpless” is a subjective term, Johnny’s has steered away from using it in
variety descriptions. Look for varieties described as bitter-free or non-bitter. However, some research
has been done into what causes some cucumbers to offend the stomach. It is now thought that
“burpiness” is caused by cucurbitacins, the bitter compounds found in all cucurbits. Seedless, thin skinned varieties have lower cucurbitacin amounts and therefore are more likely to be burpless.

Finally, consider disease pressure when choosing cucumber varieties. Varieties vary in their disease
resistance, so check the catalog descriptions carefully if you have had problems in the past.
