@ayodeji,are u using concrete tank?u can still fill d leakage but better to place clay soil (about 6 inches) on the bottom of the tank (if concrete) and allow it to dry before filling the tank with water

to me i believe the team is old and the quality of the players are poor, can any match be won from the bench? injury to some of the player is not helping the team, the only strength is see is their experience
pls share your opinion

@ ayodeji, the price of fingerlings depends on the species,i can say the common type in nigeria is African catfish or clarias gariepinus, it is a good species, ecologically pioneered and very easy to culture, prince should range from 10-15 naira, depending on the size and the weight, you can also get the price cheaper if you are buying higher quantity.
my interest is on pangasius catfish,it is the specie in high demand in europe now,

@ ayodeji, what species of catfish are you interested in?

that is too bad for nigeria, some coaches are very selfish, how can haruna be converted to DM?

December 30, 2009

Youth international Lukman Haruna has expressed disappointment that no young midfielder was picked in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, but that would not break his resolve to make the squad to the World Cup in June.

“I would have expected that a few of the young midfielders would have been given a chance if only to train with the team in South Africa, but that was not the case,” said the Monaco midfielder.

“All the same, I’m still hopeful that as long as I’m doing well at my club, I will be considered for the squad to the World Cup.”

Haruna made his full international debut in January 2008 against Sudan and was part of various squads in the qualifying tournament for the 2010 World Cup.

Monaco coach, Guy Lacombe, has also converted him as a defensive midfielder from his familiar attacking role.

“I have worked my socks off in training and the reward is that the coach has given me my chance in the first team, playing me in top games like against champions Bordeaux, and that has done my confidence a world of good,” disclosed Haruna. “I’m adapting to my new role quickly because I wish to make a name in this game.”

Officials have disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are considering a request from top players of the Super Eagles that the physical trainer of English Premier League club Everton accompany the national team to next month?s Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

"The NFF are studying the request of the players for the physical trainer of Everton to be part of the team to Angola," said a top official, who would not want his name in print.

"They have also asked that they need an additional physiotherapist on the team."

Defender Joseph Yobo and strikers Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Victor Anichebe feature for Everton.

Earlier this month, NFF officials led by president Sani Lulu met with top Nigerian stars in England ahead of the Nations Cup in Angola. Nigeria are drawn in Group C along with defending champions Egypt, Mozambique and Benin

this will be a good news for chelsea and Man U. FIFA annouced that Clubs whose players are taking part in the tournament will share $40 million.

The total prize money available at South Africa 2010 is a 61 percent increase from the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
“Every club who has a player at the World Cup will receive $1600 per day, per player,” Valcke said.

“The money will be paid 15 days before the start of the tournament and to one day after the players’ participation in the World Cup ends.”

Clubs will receive the money through their national associations and as part of that package, clubs have agreed not to pursue any claims or any possible compensation through civil courts but only go through Fifa or Cas, the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

pls what is happening to Nigerian players? are they not good enough to be nominated for BBC african footballer of the year?

Ireland have appealed to world governing body Fifa to be allowed to compete as a 33rd team in next year's World Cup finals, Fifa president Sepp Blatter said on Monday.
Ireland were eliminated from the competition earlier this month by France after Thierry Henry handled the ball in the build-up to William Gallas's equaliser that gave France a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 aggregate playoff win.

"We received a delegation from Ireland at Fifa and they were naturally absolutely unhappy at what has happened. They know the match cannot be replayed and the decision of the referee is final," Blatter told a keynote address at the Soccerex business conference.

"Naturally they have not asked for any sanctions to be given to any player or the referee, but they have asked, very humbly 'can't we be team No 33 at the World Cup? They have asked for that, really.

"I will bring it to the attention of the Executive Committee. I cannot confirm what will happen, but I will report it to the executive committee."

Blatter said that Fifa's Executive Committee would consider Ireland's appeal when they held their extra-ordinary meeting in Cape Town on Wednesday.

The draw for the 32-team World Cup will take place in Cape Town on Friday.

i just hope tribune nigeria was not using the headline to sell their newspaper

we are really waiting to see this,i hope tribune nigeria did not mis-quote him

PROPHET T. B Joshua of The Synagogue Church For All Nations says the Super Eagles will emerge victorious in Kenya, with the 2010 World Cup ticket in their kitty.

The man of God renowned for his predictions, prophesied during the week that the Super Eagles would beat Kenya 3-1 while Tunisia would lose 1-2 to Mozambique in Maputo, paving the World Cup ticket for Nigeria.

Prophet Joshua, SaturdayTribunesports gathered, also predicted a weekend of double celebrations for Nigeria as he said the Golden Eaglets would retain the FIFA U-17 title by beating Switzerland in tomorrow's final match of Nigeria 2009, in Abuja.

It will be recalled that Joshua prophesied that Ghana's Black Satellites would lift the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Egypt 2009.

On phone to Silas Teteh, Ghana's U-20 chief coach, Joshua told the coach whom to pick for the penalty shootout win against Brazil in the final, saying some of them would lose their kicks but that Ghana was going to carry the day.

2007 alone, vietnam production of pangasius catfish was recorded at 380,000 metric tons, valued at 987 million US dollars. The explanation is that if vietnam who has almost the same maritime area with nigeria can produce this species of catfish alone, wht is disturbing nigeria.
