Kbs468:
It wasn't Monday Sinclair oo but Phillip Trousier
That local coach honour still lies with the late Amodu shu'aibu

The legendary Lim Kee Chong of Mauritius was the center referee for the game against Kenya in a chock-full forty-five thousand capacity National Stadium in Lagos, with stadium’s capacity reached hours before kick-off. Fans and supporters eagerly awaited what they prayed would be an easy game for the
Eagles.

The Eagles coached by Frenchman Philippe Troussier turned up in style. Playing a fluid 4-3-3 formation as against Troussier favoured 3-5-2.

Abiodun Baruwa was preferred to Atlanta 96 hero Joseph Dosu in goal, a central defensive pairing of captain Uche Okechukwu and Taribo West were complemented in defence by fullbacks Celestine Babayaro and Mobi Oparaku; Mutiu Adepouju,
Sunday Oliseh and Austin Okocha manned the midfield while Jonathan Akpoborie,
Daniel Amokachi, and Emmanuel Amuneke were the attacking trio.

Wilson Oruma came in for Okocha in the 63rd minute, Victor Ikpeba took Amokachi’s place in the 78th minute while in the 86th minute Christopher Ohenhen replaced Akpoborie.

The fans didn’t have to wait to long for their expectations to be met as a debut
goal for nineteen year old Sunday Oliseh in the 14th minute set the ball rolling for the Eagles while further strikes by Emmanuel Amuneke in the 43rd
minute and substitute Wilson Oruma in the 83rd minute sealed Nigeria’s qualification for only the second time.

Nigeria will go on to lose 1-0 to Guinea in the final qualifying game and Troussier lost his job to “World Cup Coach”, the then Yugoslavian Bora Milutinovic.

Oliseh 19 years old in 1998? the same oliseh that featured in Tunisia 94 and USA94?

Agreed without too many question ❓ ❓ ❓

Why why when a player has been largely anonymous in both the Championship and league one. Decides to go to Bulgaria that tells us something, he lacks quality.

Maybe it could be explained with the small matter of his Uncle Thompson Oliha.

But He was in league one when Aidy Boothroyd invited him to U21 side which he declined.

tbaba1234:
Exactly, the guy that was based in south africa. left footed

Yes boss..Late Sam Okoye was the second choice.

nelszx:
This picture You just made me remember him in Sydney 2000 Olympics Baba was shaking like Akpeyi, conceded simple goals cos of his jittery. That match against Chile really pained me 4-0

It was Gret Etafia at Sydney 2000 Olympic, not Ejide

Rangers, Lobi, Kano Pillars and Akwa United have qualified for the NPFL playoffs
Yobe Desert Stars and Remo Stars relegated

Great hope for my team, sunshine stars..they just need to win MFM in Akure on sunday, whatever happen between Rivers United and Bendel Insurance wont affect their position again.

Opabumi had eye surgery not Yak

In 2002?

Icon4s:
Who are the experienced strikers we have in the super Eagles now?

Onigbinde dropped Yakubu Aiyegbeni and took Opabunmi to the world cup.

Besides, Osimhen's rating at U17 was higher than that of Opabunmi. Which Nigerian U17 Player has ever scored a double digit in a single tournament? Osimhen is highest ever goal scorer at the U17 WC. Talentwise both players are not at par.

Mind you , if you are fair with ur reasoning, all along I have been against Osimhen's early inclusion into the national team until he proves himself at senior club level.

You cannot hinge on Osimhen's call up to keep crying over Awoniyi's exclusion. Both players are currently not on the same pedestal.

Yakubu deserved to be dropped for 2002 world cup, was he fit? he had eyes surgery weeks before korea/Japan world cup.

Adebowale1616:
Thanks so much. They said the land is opposite a place called Kasali

please ask them again if it is kasali at ojedeji where PROPHET KASALI church is situated, that is after Ijaye. i hope not because it is far from Ibadan

Adebowale1616:
Pls do u know ibadan well ? Sweet estate in ib around Moniya, 15 mins drive from Moniya and 6 mins drive from new railway line, along ibadan-iseyin expressway. They said the land is by the express road, I have not been there though, but that's how they described it.

They don't have protocol as such, they just said only graveyard is prohibited, but asides that, nothing more.

i know the route, there is no express road there, just iseyin/saki road, after moniya around Alabata village. the railway line is at Ajibade oloshoko, not far from Kings college. i can help you with some pictures if i pass the route before monday. You can ask the estate agent how far is the land from ALABATA VILLAGE

Not yet relegated..

modified..you are right..

Alfryd:
don't forget that keshi Substituted Martin @51minute he didn't even give him opportunity to show himself

I can't forget the look on Martin face that day after the Sub

He was substituted after 61 minutes rather and Ahmed that replaced him provided the assist for Oduamadi..Martins himself apologized after the match

Taliban:
He actually did try Martins on one or two occasions before sidelining him and tbh Martins didn't cover himself in glory in those few games. Uche he made a uturn after the WC.
Even Sone aluko and akpan were eventually drafted to the team, after him, did anyone call Martins, sone and akpan even when they were still performing?

Yes after Keshi, Oliseh invited martin but rather used him as mildfieder..Even Keshi gave martin a chance against Kenya which he didn't utilize.

Not only private schools, even in government funded universities, not all courses are 4 years..

HajiMT:
It will still be difficult for the opposition to win in Oyo State. APC will win in Oke Ogun zone, in Ogbomosho zone because of Alao Akala and in Oyo zone. PDP May win in Ibadan and Ibarapa zones but it will be a close race

You are very right..Last week election in Oyo State, APC won 2 senatorial seat, PDP 1..house of representation, APC won 9, ADP 1 and PDP 4.
APC may win next week..

Same Prophet who said PDP will win last Ekiti Election...

tbaba1234:
It appears AC Milan has agreed to pay Charleroi 15M for Osimhen in principle. He will be loaned to Lille next season.

Wolfburg placed a 3.5M price on the Charleroi loan and it looks like they will activate that fee.

Please any latest regarding Ighalo? Chinese second division is not good for our top striker particularly in AFCON year

Transfer deadline is tomorrow, any latest regarding Ighalo?

Congratulations to Sunshine Stars, the Owena waves for the away win...

Icon4s:
Udeze thar u will almost think he was a left Winger. He sent Celestine into Early retirement.

Hehe..Udeze..At AFCON 2002, senegal vs Nigeria after Oruma lost the penalty to level the scores, He rushed to hold the referee hand to check the time..straight red card..Babayaro and Udeze were used together in the game against sweden at korea/Japan 2002..
