I'm hoping that with time I will start up a kind of awareness program; I'm not even sure of how to go about this, but would have to, because the Nigerian elites are poisoning the hearts of today's youths in a very dangerous way.

I'm from the south east, but schooled at ABU Zaria, I'm back home now. I wanted staying back and get a job there, but after that particular incident I had to come home...it was a bad sign; if fellow Muslims could be killed in such a manner, what is then the fate of Christians?

My dad worked and retired in Yobe state, and I started visiting the north since 2004, so I have stayed amongst them well enough to understand how things work up there.

Let me give a little more detail; the name of the street where the Shias were, is called Gyllesu, it shares a fence with Rimi Tsiwa estate, in Kongo, Zaria, opposite Ahmadu Bello university, Zaria, Kongo campus. Ask anyone in Zaria to verify the details I just gave...that is where their leader El-Zakzaky lives, and Gyllesu is a very long and populated street, occupied mainly by the Shias. Now tell me, how can you murder majority of people in that same street, I mean 80% percent of occupants of this Street and tell us they are 300+? I saw just one of the trucks with over 600 corpses, when we were being evicted temporarily out of our dwelling place, just one! And you dare not for any reason bring out your phone; not to at least call, talk less take pictures, it will be smashed to pieces. These Shias were my next street neighbors, and they could be rowdy and had the habit of blocking roads during their processions (even the Sunni Muslims block roads every Friday, during their prayers) but nothing can ever justify the way they were killed in cold blood.

Note: they had a confrontation with soldiers at a different location, where they blocked the road, and that was on a Friday, but the army leftt and came to their headquarters on Saturday/Sunday to massacre them...It was a premeditated and coordinated attack! The army knew that if they had attacked those Shias then, the casualty wouldn't have been much, so, they waited for the perfect time to estaminate them; it was like a war situation, a war that was waged on armless women, children and adults! If these people were armed as the army said, why is there not even one casualty on the part of the Nigerian Army? I think that's because the Nigerian Army is an expert in killing defenceless people.

For those who think these Fulani attacks is a mere conspiracy theory, I weep for you! We know better!

Please let me stop here, I am even afraid of saying more...before them go kill me.

I am a Southerner but have relations who have lived among Northern minorities and the their tale is very similar to yours.

Why am I not surprised? Of course I was in Zaria when the massacre took place last year; if they could kill armless minors in their hundreds, what's detention?

I was staying in a street beside the Shias, they were murdered in cold blood, and soldiers went as far as doing a house to house search in all the surrounding neighborhoods and killed the ones found hiding. We were driven out of our estate for 3days, we slept in churches. The corpses I saw in one of the trucks was more than 600 people but the official figures says over 300.

Most people on nairaland support this government of hate without knowing what is going on behind the scenes. They swallow every garbage the bought-over media dishes out to them..not me! I know what I saw! I know what I know!

I was moved to tears after reading about the gory details. On top of that, govt and the Army claimed responsibility for the death of over 300 then I knew the people killed will definitely exceed 700 at least.
Painfully enough, this bestial act is been supported by many even on this forum.

Wow! This is spot-on. I think the Igbos should stop wasting their efforts on the Ijaws and other Non-Igbo Niger-Deltans who are clearly not really interested in the Eastern or Biafra Alliance that they seek if truly they are serious. Instead more efforts should be geared towards working with the Aniomas and Ibibios, Anangs, Efiks, Ogojas etc of Akwa-Ibom and Cross-River States. Those people will be are more co-operative just as they're friendlier.

But I disagree that Igbos control more oil wells though.

Yeah you're kindda correct because I've not seen any concrete proof that the Oba controlled Onitsha at any point in time. However, the point I'm driving at is that the Influences of the Benin Empire reached Onitsha during the glory days, the royal house of Onitsha(Of Ezechima if I'm not mistaken) and some families there can trace their origins to Benin(I don't think you'll dispute this fact).
Bros no be quarrel. Most parts of what is today western Igboland(Delta and Edo states) were at some point part of the old Benin Empire. It's no big deal. Not all of these places were conquered by warfare. This is history the way it is.
Moreover, I wasn't emphasizing the Imperial powers of Benin(which no longer exists anyway) but I was just appreciating the sophistication of these beautiful African societies. I was only identifying the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe who is conspicuously seated there among others, like some Urhobo(my ethnic group) Itsekiri, Ijaw even Yoruba monarchs.
Isn't it obvious enough that our cultural diversity didn't start today? I'm from the Niger-Delta and I really appreciate this. Let's appreciate this and celebrate with the Benin people.

Ewuare I(alias Ogidigan) is considered the founder of The Ancient Benin Empire. He contributed immensely to the construction of the famous Benin walls(some say he started it,) for security reasons. A warrior King he was who started the expansion of the kingdom into other areas like Igboland(Western Igbo), and also Yorubaland thereby subsequently giving ancient Benin an imperial status.
Obas Esigie, Orhogbua and Ehengbuda, others, his descendants, who came after him will further expand the Empire more into the hinterlands to as far as Idah(Igalaland, present Kogi state) and coastwards, to Lagos and even beyond...

Our own Igbo leaders are effeminates, just like Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Enugu state who was crying like a sissy when the Fulani Herdsmen decimated his people at 042. There is no PDP politician in Igboland that is as vocal and proactive like Fayose. Fayose is the face of opposition Politics in Nigeria. I hope the PDP will nominate him as the parties Vice Presidential candidate in 2019. We Igbos need leaders like Fayose, infact Fayose rule us in Igboland in Jesus name.
