As a muslim from the south, it is imperative that a presidential candidate balances the ticket by choosing a VP candidate who is a christian from the north. Now here is the quagmire, most of his northern associates and those he owes political debts for giving him the APC ticket are muslims.
Northern christian even though significant in population are largely seen as 'politically impotent". Therefore picking a northern Christian will alienate the large number of northern muslims from voting the ticket since none of their own is the APC ballot.

On the other hand, if he picks a northern muslim, we will have 2 muslims on the APC ticket trying to take over the presidency after the perilous 8 year rulership of Gen. Mohammed Buhari (Rtd.) another muslim.
A muslim-muslim ticket in a religous sensitive country like Nigeria also has its own demerits. It would turn off most Christians in Tinubu's own region of the SW which hosts the headquarters of some of the most influential churches in Nigeria and Africa. Already, the mainly other Christian-dominated regions of the south (SE and SS) are firmly in the control of the opposition parties. These regions are also witnessing a huge voter registration exercise after the APC primaries and it is definitely not in the best interest of APC candidate.

The muslim-muslim ticket will also alienate most Northern Christians from voting the APC, as many Christians in the north are seen as very faithful even to the point of martrydom, in a region with great muslim population. A reference point is the recent martyr of Deborah, a northern christian student who was accused of blasphemy, and murdered for vehemently defending her Christian faith in a college of education in Sokoto-the seat of the muslim caliphate. Mr Tinubu never condemned the killing.

Tinubu's decision and strategy
Nigeria's politics is not difficult to predict if one follows the trend and study the political history of the country keenly.
Mr tinubu has no choice really, he is indebted to his northern political associates who are muslims and will have to pay them back for their support in clinching the presidential ticket.

Most of his lieutenants also point to a past precedent in 1993 where Moshood Abiola (MKO) a southern muslim, philanthropist and presidential hopeful was adjudged to have won at the presidential polls with muslim deputy on the ticket. MKO never became president anyway. But they also conveniently forget that 30 years ago, Nigeria was not as ethnically and religiously sensitive and divisive as it is today.

Be that as it may, Tinubu will damn the consequences, pay his political debts to the northern muslim bloc of APC by picking one of them, and then go on a media overdrive in a desperate attempt to de-sensitize and brainwash Nigerians with his media outlets that 'religion does not matter'. He will even be ready visit the Pope and Archbishop of Canterbury if possible in other to further the acceptance of his the ticket, but before that he will pay gluttonous pastors and phoney prophets to speak for him on their pulpits in order to promote muslim-muslim ticket. The paid charlatans will grant interviews on radios, TV, newspapers defending the muslim-muslim ticket.

Therefore, Nigerians should get ready as the campaign and propaganda hit their subconciousness frequently, till they lose their guard. Brace up..
