PoliticsLai Mohammed Cries Out: Whatever The Motive Is, Nig Pls Stop Lying Against Me by optionB(op): 11:40am On Mar 14, 2016
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed laments over the ongoing rumour that he exposed the failure of buhari’s administration. The minister said I don’t know the reason behind the gross distortion of my comment on radio, but whatever the motive is, he claimed <<<

he never said that the Nigerian economy had gone out of the control of the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a reaction to the reports and criticisms that followed, the minister on Sunday, issued a statement through his special assistant, Segun Adeyemi, in which he said his words were distorted.

The minister described the comment as a gross misrepresentation of what he said when he appeared on the radio show on Saturday.

Speaking earlier on Saturday night at the third Kannywood Award in Abuja, Mohammed had said: “I know we are here for entertainment and glamour, but when a matter of national interest or importance is involved, everything else takes a back seat if only for a moment.

“Earlier today, I appeared on a radio show here in Abuja at which I spoke extensively on the issues affecting our country especially the economy.

“To my surprise, my views were twisted and I was reported to have said that the economy of our country is beyond the control of the President.“

According to him, this is a gross misrepresentation of what he said.
“I could not have said that the economy is out of the control of the President or the administration that he is leading.”

The minister said that the Buhari administration decided to turn the economic disaster that it inherited to a blessing by diversifying the economy.

“I think Kannywood is one of the examples of this diversification.

“I don’t know the reason behind the gross distortion of my comment on radio, but whatever the motive is, Nigerians should disregard such distortion and continue to support our President and his administration to take our country out of the problems,“ he said

PoliticsWhere Is The Change!!! Donald Trump Insults Nigeria Administration by optionB(op): 11:11am On Mar 14, 2016
Donald Trump, a front-line US presidential contender blast Nigeria for claiming to be giant of Africa. One of The highest producer of crude oil in Africa without nothing tangible to show for it. 56 years after independence, Nigerian leaders still can’t deliver

“ordinary” electricity, water, home-refined petroleum products, transportation – road, rail, water and air – infrastructure.

Here’s a quote from Donald Trump, a front-line US presidential contender:

“Look at African countries like Nigeria or Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries.

From the government to the opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required.

How do you trust even those who have run away to hide here in the United States, hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don’t care because even the internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side.

These are people who import everything including matchsticks.

In my opinion, most of these African countries [like Nigeria] ought to be recolonized again for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self-governance.”

PoliticsPower Supply: Nigerians Are Architects Of Their Own Problems – Presidency by optionB(op): 11:02am On Mar 12, 2016
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Femi Adesina, was guest on Radio Continental programme Friday last week (March 4,2016). Here are excerpts from the interview:

Q: Fulani herdsmen have on several occasions been accused of ransacking places they pass through while they are herding their cattle. Nigerians are wondering and asking why there seems to be a very loud silence on the part of the federal government on the matter?

A: If anybody says there is a loud silence, it means that person has not been listening. At times, it is so very easy to say there has been silence, when that is not the case, because on this issue, last week in a major interview the President spoke on it. It was relayed on NTA for about two days running. He spoke on the Fulani herdsmen issue and a statement also came out from our office on the matter. So, if anybody says the President is silent or has been silent on the issue, it baffles me. The President spoke in an interview that was relayed on NTA and TVC, and he said it is a perennial problem, and something would be done about it. He talked about cattle grazing route, and he said between the federal government and the state governors, this matter would be looked at and tackled decisively. I also remember that Chief Audu Ogbe, the Agric Minister, has also indicated that quite soon, problem of herdsmen and farmers would be over in the country because they would do something about getting feed from Brazil for cattle rearers.

Q: How does the government intend to reach these herdsmen because they are not all in a place at the same time; the President has spoken as you said, but how do you get this information to filter across herdsmen so that they are aware?
A: That is the reason the President said it is going to be between the federal government and the state governors. The state governors are closer to these herdsmen, through the state and local governments, there is a way they would be reached. They are not spirits, they are humans and they operate in environments where people can reach them, and the President has said between the federal and the state governments, something can be done. In the past, there were grazing routes in the country, it is either we return to that, or there would be something else, but I know the issue would be dealt with.

Q: Nigerians are not happy about some things that we seem not to have gotten right. One of it is the issue of power supply. Service has deteriorated, yet people are made to cough out large sums of money monthly as tariffs. What is government policy direction to ensure constant and uninterrupted power supply? We seem to be hovering around on this issue of 2,000 megawatt, sometimes 3,000, sometimes it comes down to 1,000. We cannot over emphasize on the benefits of having constant supply. Is there any intention to review the contracts that the previous government entered?

A: On the issue of power, it seems Nigerians are their own problems. You can recall about four weeks ago, the power ministry came out to say that the megawatts we had was 5070, which is an all-time high in 16 years. A few days after, some people blew installations in Bayelsa, we lost about 1600 megawatts immediately. After that, installation was blown in Delta and we lost another 1,000 megawatts. What would the government do in that kind of circumstance? If the people who should be provided power are the ones sabotaging installations, they can’t turn round to say government is not providing power. Nigerians need to determine what they want. If South Africa has about 50,000 megawatts, it is because their own people are not sabotaging their installations, they are not going to blow up the lines. If Nigerians continue to blow up and sabotage, then they can’t come around to say that there is no power.

Q: Are you saying that government is helpless in terms of protecting this vital infrastructure, with the security agencies we have? Are we saying that we are helpless, so if they keep on blowing the pipelines, we can’t do anything about it?

A: Government is not helpless, and government should never be helpless. A government that is worth its’ salt should never be helpless, but there are so many things that the government can deploy attention to, and when the attention is focused on securing installation instead of what we can call other weightier matters of the law. It is just a waste of time. We are wasting our time as a country, because other countries don’t have that distraction, they don’t have to deploy troops to monitor installations, because nobody would sabotage installations since he knows the thing is for his own good. I think, in this country we need to get to a point where we should realize that when we do certain things, we are hurting ourselves and not the government.

Q: Now that we know the issue is there, what do we do to eliminate sabotage?

A: Government will do what it should do, but short of lining up soldiers from Lagos to everywhere, in fact it can’t stop. We Yorubas have a saying that you are never as smart as the person watching you, because he would find a time when you are distracted, when you are not alert and strike. That is what is happening. No matter the security that you put round these installations that cover several hundreds or thousands of kilometers, how do you monitor them and those who want to sabotage would not find a place where they can attack?
Q: Shouldn’t the government have a counter plan to make sure that these people do not have their way?
A: The government is not omnipotent or omniscient. The government cannot be everywhere at every time. That is the reason the onus is on Nigeria to see these installations as their own. When you blow up installations, who are you hurting? You are hurting the people and the society. That is what we should realize. Last week in Qatar, the president said vandalism is a disincentive to foreign investment, because potential investors hear and read all these things, that installations are sabotaged in Nigeria. So if investors refuse to come because of that, who gets hurt? It is not the government, it is the people. I think we need a lot more patriotism in that aspect.

Q: Is there no other source of getting power?

A: Don’t forget that when the power ministry announced that we had 5070 megawatts recently, it also said that by December, another 2,000 megawatts would be added to it; giving us 7,070 megawatts. That brings a lot of hope, but that hope is dampened, when few days after, they begin to blow up installations, and you lose 3000 megawatts. Talking of alternative sources, a lot is in process. Because every country the president has visited, power has been an issue, and I know that a number of people have come up with alternatives, what they can do to help Nigeria, and talks are on-going. Very soon, I believe that those talks would yield results.

Q: What is the panacea to end recurring fuel queues, especially with the issue of building new refineries?

A: Let me try to put in perspective the fuel supply situation in the country. What caused the latest round of queues is that there is a breach in supply, which came from two ends. One, from the importation end and two, from the distribution end in the country. We have NNPC bringing in 70 per cent of fuel used in the country and the other 30 per cent is supposed to be provided by independent marketers. The independent marketers are not really doing much because of the differential in dollar rate currently. Before they can import, they expect government to do something in terms of dollar differential; but government is limited because we are not earning much dollar. The only way Nigerian government gets dollar is through sale of crude oil, and we know that price has gone continuously down, that is what caused the breach in supply, because everything is imported. We are not refining much most times; and added to that is the fact that Europe is in winter. During winter, you cannot predict importation as in other seasons of the year, because there are some parts of the world where the seas are virtually frozen and ships can’t sail. A ship that you could predict would arrive after 30 days during summer, would arrive at 40-45 days because of the vagaries of the weather. This is another thing that affected importation into the country. There is this third issue, which is very important because it links to what we have said earlier. All these ships that bring in fuel are insured internationally, and international insurers are refusing to insure ships going to Port-Harcourt and Warri because of the aggressiveness in the area. They follow all these things, all these pipelines that are vandalised and all of that, they follow. Therefore, those ships land in Lagos, and then you transport fuel by road to those areas. All these are complexities about our country that need to be looked at. I have said that Nigerians themselves must decide to address these complexities.

Q: What is government’s policy on new refineries?

A: You would recall that Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, who is NNPC GMD and minister of state for petroleum, has said that our existing refineries are not better than scraps, and that already has foreshadowed the fact that there would be a new policy for refineries.
Q: What is your answer on the issue of stipend of N5, 000 to the vulnerables or graduates because there seems to be contradiction. Is government paying because it is included in the budget?

Q: There are two things we need to isolate. There is this notion that government was meant to pay N5,000 for unemployed graduates. That was the popular notion and that was what the President corrected, that instead of paying N5,000 to unemployed graduates, he would rather provide infrastructure, he would rather give them enabling environment to be useful than giving out dole to them. But there is one that is already captured in the budget, it is called the conditional cash transfer, which is going to be given to the poorest of the poor.
Q: Nigerians are complaining about many things. Is the government aware?
A: I think Nigerians have always complained, and we should learn to stop complaining and believe more. If you have elected a government because you believe it can bring change;(because these complains started from the first month), and you have not allowed them to isolate what the problems are, and articulate what the solutions would be, and you begin to have all these complaints, I think it is not natural. What government needs at a time like this, is cooperation and support. The President said this at an interview last week. He said things deteriorated over 16 years that PDP was in power, this is the ninth month of this government, and you want everything to have changed. It is not real. There must be realistic expectation, and realistic expectation will demand that people are patient, supportive, and encourage the government. This is a government that is working for the people. Somebody said two days ago that this is a government that is “pro-poor”, which is true. Then, all these complaints would not do anybody any good. Rather than complaining, let us cooperate, support and encourage.
The promised change would come. Don’t forget that our President said it would take a minimum of 18 months to revive the economy. Nigerians don’t listen to something like that, they want magic immediately. It doesn’t happen that way. This change will come, but it would follow a process, and it would be enduring

PoliticsFayose: Buhari Should First Overcome God Before Overcoming Me by optionB(op): 8:00am On Mar 12, 2016
Fayose reacts to invasion of Ekiti house of assembly complex

– He claims that the invasion won’t deter from saying the truth about the incumbent government

Ayodele Fayose, the governor of the Ekiti state, has reacted to the reported invasion of the house of assembly complex by the operatives of Department of State Services (DSS).

He said he won’t stop criticizing the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, adding that no policy of the federal government that unfriendly to the welfare of the people would be spared by his comments.‎

Speaking through his media aide Idowu Adelusi, Governor Fayose said: “The Bible says people with God are in majority.‎ This is not the first time people will harass me. It is a conspiracy and it will collapse like other attempts before it. I will remain critical of the activities of the Federal Government, especially when they do things that are inimical to the welfare of Nigerians.

“Imagine the questions they asked my commissioner for finance. They asked him if the Federal government has reimbursed the state government on works done on federal roads. But the records are with them in Abuja, can’t they check?‎ We have nothing to‎ hide and they are only chasing shadows and are time wasters.

“Telling the Federal government that the economy is in trouble and that the president should stay at home to face governance is not a crime and is part of my rights‎ as a citizen of this country. I am like a tree planted by the bank of a river that brings forth its fruits in due season.

“We are in the morning we have not seen what the night is going to be. ‎If it is me that brought myself here they will succeed, but if it is God, they will have to first overcome God before overcoming me,” the governor stated.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly recently cried out over the invasion of the complex on March 4 by operatives of the DSS and abduction of some of its members.

It warned that it would not forgive dictatorial tendencies in the “current democratic era.”

PoliticsJonathan Has Performed More Than You And Others, Presidency Tells Obasanjo by optionB(op): 5:50pm On Mar 10, 2016
ABUJA—FOR scoring the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan below average, the Presidency Sunday took a swipe at former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying his comments at an event, weekend, where he rated Jonathan’s performance “below average” were not only untrue, but also misleading.

In a statement, last night in Abuja by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, the Presidency said former President Obasanjo’s comments do not in any way tally with the facts on ground, boasting that President Jonathan had performed more than Obasanjo and other presidents in Nigeria’s history Okupe, who chronicled Jonathan’s
achievements in all sectors such as aviation, industrialisation, railway, power, transportation and insurgency among others, said: “Our attention has been drawn to comments made by a former President of this country, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, regarding the performance of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. We aver that Chief Obasanjo’s comments are untrue, misleading and clearly do not tally with the facts on the ground.

No administration did as much as Jonathan

“We, therefore, wish to assert without equivocation that in terms of performance and achievements, no administration since 1960 when Nigeria gained independence from Britain, has done as much as that of President Jonathan. Every discerning and unbiased Nigerian will definitely attest to this fact as the evidence stare all of us in the face.

“Contrary to Chief Obasanjo’s position, the Federal Government under President Jonathan has performed excellently given the prevailing circumstances and resources available. An assessment of key sectors of national life under the Jonathan administration will definitely controvert Chief Obasanjo’s argument that President Jonathan has not performed well.

“While it is true that Nigeria has been faced with incidents of insurgency and terrorism especially in the last few years, it is also true the Jonathan administration has successfully contained the initial wide-spread and limitless activities of the insurgents which were prevalent in 12 states of the North including the Federal Capital, Abuja.

“While it is true that the present activities of the terrorists in the three North Eastern states have become more deadly in mindless killings, kidnappings and supposed territorial seizures, government has made giant diplomatic strides with our neighbouring countries in order to checkmate the criss-crossing of the insurgents.

“The military and other security agents which have engaged the insurgents since inception have done a great job in spite of recent challenges. The truth of the matter, which we must know and accept, is that we have an internal enemy supported by internal and external resources waging a major warfare against our nation. We want to state that the government is doing everything possible in every area of engagement of this war and will certainly, sooner than later, Nigeria will overcome and win this war.

Quality leadership

“In spite of this war, however, and in view of the other giant strides and achievements recorded in other sectors, it beats the imagination that anyone would say that President Jonathan has performed below average in office. On the contrary, he has provided quality leadership and exemplary vision in transforming the Nigerian nation and giving hope to Africa’s most populous nation.

“We assert that for a fact a lot has been done. We may not have reached the desired destination yet, but surely we are on the path to getting there. There is no doubt that by the time the Jonathan administration runs its full course, Nigeria would have moved further in its quest to join other world giants and the quality of life of Nigerians would have improved greatly. We will all have cause to continually give glory to God for bringing the Jonathan administration on board.”

Giant strides in power supply

On power, he said: “Before President Jonathan came on board as President of this country in 2010, Nigeria faced serious challenges with generation, distribution and transmission of power. Nigeria had challenges with both generation of power and the installed capacity to ensure effective power supply. As a matter of fact, the total amount of power generated nationwide stood at 2550 megawatts; today it is over 4,000 megawatts.

“In terms of installed capacity, there has been remarkable improvement. In 2011, our installed capacity to generate electricity stood at 5,900 MW. By December 2013 it had increased to 6,953 MW. This impressive achievement was due to the completion of all the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) plants, which for reasons only he can explain, Chief Obasanjo had abandoned during his tenure.

“The moribund state-run power corporation was successfully privatised by the Jonathan administration in a process highly rated and commended by the World Bank and other multilateral agencies for its high level of transparency and professionalism.

“This was a very critical programme in solving our power problems which other administrations could not achieve for decades. Today, Nigeria is a recipient of billion-dollar foreign investment in the power sector which is the much needed elixir for a stable, sufficient and efficient power system. This feat cannot be an evidence of a below-average performance as painted by Chief Obasanjo.”

Jonathan’s agricultural revolution

In Agriculture, Okupe said: “Since President Goodluck Jonathan launched his transformation agenda in the agricultural sector, this most important sector which provides employment for over 70 per cent of the population has recorded unprecedented growth resulting from a number of reforms and innovations. The revolution the Jonathan administration has engineered has not only empowered millions of farmers in the country but has equally saved Nigeria billions of naira and dollars, which in times past had been lost to fertilizer racketeers and food importation.

“Nigeria’s food production has expanded by 21 million metric tons; three million farm jobs have been created and more importantly, our import of food has declined by 38 per cent from N1.1 Trillion to N635 billion in 2013.”

“Before the Jonathan administration came on board, major agricultural produce like cotton, sorghum and groundnut, which were the bedrock of the economy of northern Nigeria, were practically extinct. Considering the fact that Nigeria imported N500 billion worth of rice in 2011, no one was in doubt that a radical approach to the problem was needed. And this is exactly what has been happening.

“In 2013 with the Federal Government providing leadership and direction, 14 new rice mills with capacity to process 240 metric tons of rice were set up by the private sector while in addition, a sum of 1.2 billion dollars was secured by the Federal Government to install 100 large scale rice processing mills to produce 2.1 million metric tons of rice annually.

Today, Nigeria has reached an unprecedented 60 per cent sufficiency in rice production, a feat, which the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) recently described as capable of raising world rice output to a record high in the next 12 next months. Nigeria is already on its way to self-sufficiency in rice production as sizeable chunk of its 167 million populations are currently feeding on rice grown and processed locally.

“This and other initiatives of the Federal Government have resulted in the creation of about two million new jobs among rural dwellers. The Federal Government has also implemented a Young Graduates Commercial Farmers Scheme, with the capacity to absorb 780,000 graduates in its first phase and provide an estimated four million jobs in the agricultural sector in the first year.

“In the same vein, the Jonathan administration has restructured and recapitalized the Nigeria Agricultural Bank to provide loans to peasant farmers at single digit interest rates. This represented the most remarkable fund injection initiative ever undertaken by any government to empower rural peasant farmers and create wealth for rural dwellers.

‘’Export of dried cassava chips began in July 2012 and this represented the first time that Nigeria would achieve commercial scale export of dried chips, which will earn $136 million annually in foreign exchange. Also, improved cotton seedlings, which have been provided free of charge to farmers especially in the Northwest and Northeast geo-political zones, will result in the resuscitation of the upstream and downstream cotton/textile subsector.

“Other impressive achievements by the Jonathan administration in the agricultural sector include:

Ending 40 years of corruption in the fertilizer sector. The Old System of Government Direct Procurement and Distribution of Fertilizer was manifestly corrupt and led to annual incidence of “fertilizer scam” where less than 11 per cent of farmers received these fertilizers. Over N776 billion ($4.8 billion) was estimated to have been lost to corruption or an average of N26 billion ($162.5million) annually. The system displaced the private sector and Nigerian farmers lost dignity. Today, things are different.

‘’The administration has built a national database of 10.5 million farmers and increased participation in farming in every state of the federation; the launching of the Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) programme, which has increased farmers’ getting fertilizers from 11 per cent before the programme to 92 per cent; delivering 1.3 million metric tons of fertilizer to farmers; making available 55,000 metric tons of improved seeds to farmers; making Nigeria the first country in Africa to deliver inputs to farmers at scale through e-wallet; reaching 2.5 million women farmers through e-Wallet by 2014 up 287 per cent from 2012; making Nigeria the biggest producer of cassava in the world; Rice Paddy Production has witnessed rapid increase; number of states growing rice in dry season rose from 10 in 2012 to 24 in 2013; six million farmers reached with improved varieties and two million hectares of additional rice cultivated; and we have reduced our wheat importation and increased export of cassava chips.”

CelebritiesOlajumoke, Bread Hawker-turned Model Exposed In The Concept Of Virality by optionB(op): 8:15am On Mar 09, 2016
Olajumoke Orisaguna, Nigerian bread hawker-turned-model’s sudden change of fortune story has become a case study of a research report titled ‘The Concept Of Virality Report’ conducted by Lagos-based Black House Media’s Research & Intelligence team.

The research report, released recently, highlights the story of Olajumoke and outlines the DNA of a viral story using research and data.

Speaking about ‘The Concept Of Virality Report’, Ayeni Adekunle, CEO, BHM Group said the report explains how Olajumoke became rapidly popular, why some brands are benefiting from associating with her while others have experienced failure in attempting to do the same, and crucially how brands, agencies and content marketers can recognize opportunities to create or join movements and content that capture the imagination of the world.

“The story of Olajumoke has been credited to several things from hardwork, to chance, to luck, to prayers, to God, to courage and many other things. Understanding the factors that made Olajumoke Orisaguna go viral can help brands recognize opportunities to create or latch on to moments and content that can get the world talking,” Adekunle said.

Olajumoke-Orisaguna

He added, “We decided to come up with this research work because in the business of content creation and marketing, brand and perception management, Public Relations and communications as a whole, it is important to have reliable data and bodies of research to refer to when making decisions regarding future content direction. We believe that ‘The Concept Of Virality’ will give our industry a deep insight into how to understand and appeal better to the imagination of the audiences we interact with on a daily basis.”

By comparing the Olajumoke story to other case studies from Nigeria and abroad, the research, compiled by the BHM Research & Intelligence (BRI) team seeks to explore the concept of virality according to online patterns.

CrimeVideo! Yoruba Youths Protest, Demand Nig Breakup As Hausas Attack More Yoruba by optionB(op): 3:24pm On Mar 05, 2016
Following repeated attacks on Yoruba communities in Lagos by Hausa-Fulani Mob, Yoruba youths have demanded for the immediate dissolution of Nigeria and the creation of Oduduwa Republic.

Bloody clashes in the Mile 12, Ketu area of Lagos State on Thursday left no fewer than 10 persons dead and about 100 others injured.

Among the dead were two schoolchildren, traders, artisans and residents.

A two-year-old boy, Andrew Daniel, was abducted by some hoodlums and taken away after his father, Igba, was attacked with machetes and left for the dead.

The PUNCH, which witnessed part of the clashes as it unfolded, counted no fewer than 40 vehicles that were either burnt or vandalised in the Agiliti area of Ketu.

Two churches and over 20 houses were equally set ablaze and hundreds of residents rendered homeless in Maidan community as a result of the violence which was said to have broken out after a disagreement between some Yoruba and Hausa in the area.

Motorcycles, sewing machines and other working tools were also destroyed while some shops were looted and razed.

Corpses of slain residents, who were either burnt or beheaded, littered the roads as of 5pm when one of our correspondents left the battle areas.

Despite the heavy presence of security personnel, the hoodlums, mostly Hausa, who wielded bows, arrows, cutlasses, charms and stones, refused to vacate the roads.

They also attacked the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who tried to calm them down before leaving the community around 1pm.

Could you tell us how your daughter disappeared from Bayelsa?

On August 12, being a Tuesday, after we took our breakfast, I went to the market, from where I went to visit one of my relations. By the time I returned home, one of my children was angry and complained that Ese, who went out in the morning had not returned and that she left the house at about 11 o’clock that fateful day. I asked him whether he beat her and he said no. I asked if they had a programme in church and he said no. At that point, I began to get worried and wondered where Ese must have gone.

Initially, I thought she had gone to church because they usually go to our neighbour’s church even though we are Anglicans, and I don’t stop them. I then asked him to go and check inside the house if she was sleeping and he did but came to say she was not there. From that point I decided to go and look for her myself. As I was going, one of my daughters told me that they saw the carpenter lying in front of his shop since morning and that Yinusa, who usually came between 12 and 1pm to buy Banga soup from their buka had not shown up that day. At that point, I decided to go and ask the carpenter, for the telephone number of Yinusa and he told me Yinusa does not have a phone and that he usually come to beg him to use his phone to make calls. The carpenter asked me why I was looking for him and I told him that I wanted to charter his Keke, and with that I left his place and went to another shop that he usually patronise to ask for him.

When I got there, I asked the owner of the shop, who happens to be a Yoruba woman about Yinusa, and she told me he was not there but that his Keke, had been parked all day. She asked why I was looking for him and I told her I wanted to charter his Keke. After a second thought I decided to open up to her that I was looking for my daughter, Ese. She asked what Ese had to do with Yinusa, and I told her Yinusa had disappeared since morning and my daughter was nowhere to be found.

When I left her shop, I went to the mosque where the Hausa boys usually gather to look for Yinusa. They were praying. I decided to wait; I waited for about two hours and got tired and left. I later sent one of my children to go and call one of them. He saw one Mohammed and invited him to my place. I asked him about Yellow and he revealed that he had sold his Keke and travelled to Kano. He was the one who told me that Yinusa, took my daughter along with him and told him he was going to convert her to Islam and marry her.
My husband wanted to go and report the matter the police that day, but they begged him not to. I later took her picture to all the police checkpoints in Bayelsa, pleading with them to arrest her if they set their eyes on her. I also went to all the motor parks to distribute the

How did you travel to Kano?

I made arrangement for them to take me to Kano, but they said it would not be possible until they heard from Yinusa. Two days later, they called to confirm that he has arrived Kano and that we could travel the next day. The person who saw him and my daughter said he asked my daughter what she was doing in Kano, and he said she didn’t know that it was Yellow that brought her there. I then reported the matter to my husband and he got so angry and blamed the incident on my food business, which has caused and Hausa boy kidnapping his daughter. He said if not that I was selling food, the boy would not have had any access to the girl. My husband wanted to go and report the matter to the police that day but they begged him not to.
Before we embarked on the journey to Kano, we were told that the matter has been reported to the chief of the town and they asked me to look for N20, 000 for the trip. They said that N6,000 will take me to Kano, another N12, 000 will take me and my daughter back to Yenagoa, while we keep the remaining N2 ,000, for feeding and local runs. I got the money and embarked on the trip.

What happened in Kano?

When we arrived Kano, I had to spend the night in the house of the boy that took me there, because we arrived very late in the night at past 12 midnight. The next day, we proceeded on the search for Ese. Before we arrived Kano, I had received a call from my daughter, asking me where we were and I told her we were close to Abuja. She advised me to stop at Abuja and spend the night with my sister, as according to her, they would kill me if I came to Kano that night. She said they had taken her photograph and converted her to Islam and wore her the hijab because the emir, Sanusi, promised them that anybody that brought a Christian girl from another state and converted her to Islam would be rewarded with money, given a house, jeep and earn a salary, among other goodies. She said all the people were celebrating with Yinusa. Still on our way, the man who was taking me to Kano got a call and told me it was Yinusa, but that I should not mind him.

In Kano, in the morning, I asked him to take me to the parent of Yellow, but he said we would first go to the house of the chief and that when we get there the chief would hand over my daughter and we would leave Kano the next day. When we got to the chief’s house, the boy narrated why he came with me and the chief was so angry and started abusing him. I knew he was abusing him because he spoke little English and Hausa. At that point, I got on my knees and pleaded with him to help me because my husband had driven me out of the house, asking me never to come back until I produced his daughter. He called me useless woman and asked which child did I keep here, that my child has been converted to Islam and I will never see her again.

While we were there, the other Hausa boys, who had stayed in Bayelsa, on hearing the matter, came there to meet me because I was good to them. They made inquiry on how we could get to the emir’s palace and the chief gave us two telephone numbers. When we got there, one of the soldiers on duty, in front of the palace, saw my desperation, as I was trying to call the telephone number given to us. He approached me and asked what I was doing there and after explaining to him, he took pity on me and said I cannot access the palace from the front gate, that I should go through the back, which I did. When I got inside, an elderly man walked to us and asked the boy that came with me if he was the one from Bayelsa, and he answered yes. He then asked why he brought me to Kano.

I knelt down to beg him to help me recover my child, that she was only 13. He said it was not possible and that even if I must see her, it had to be on Monday. Before I knew what was happening, young men started to gather in their large number. I started running. They came after me, hitting me and abusing me. They could have killed me. While all these was going on, one God-sent man drove into the palace and rescues me. He called the police and they sent one of their patrol vans to the scene immediately.

After rescuing me, they took me to the Kwani police station, close to the palace. I told them my story; they handed me over to the DCO of the station. At the office of the DCO, they took my statement and took it to the DPO. The DPO, on getting the report, then drafted some policemen to the palace. They did not allow us to enter and before we knew it, people started trooping in; so the policemen sensing danger put me back into the vehicle and drove off back to the police station.

At the police station, the DPO, them decided that since the matter seemed to be getting out of hand, we should go to the palace of the Galadima. On getting there, they told us he was sleeping and that we cannot see him.
From the Galadima, we went to the adviser to the emir’s place and we were again told that he was sleeping; so we decided to go back to the station. On our way, they called to say the Galadima had woken up and that we should come back. When we returned, the policemen told him why they were there, but he drove us away, saying he was not aware of any case of a girl in the palace.

On leaving the Galadima, we went to the secretary’s place; that was about seven o’clock in the evening. When we got there, they were praying; so we had to wait and after the prayers, he asked why we were there. The policemen told him and he said he was aware of the matter but that there was nothing he could do because he was traveling and promised to act on it when he returned. It was him that now promised that we should go and come back on Monday and that they would bring the girl on that day.

From there we went back to the police station and I was advised not to go back to the village, where I slept because I would be killed. I then pleaded with them to allow me sleep at the station until Monday since I didn’t have any relation in Kano. They said I cannot stay there because the irate youths may come and burn down the station that I should look for a hotel to spend the weekend. However, one of the policewomen offered to accommodate me, so I went with her and stayed with her till Monday when we agreed to meet at 10 in the morning.

On Monday, I went back to the station from where some policemen took me to the palace. On getting there, we saw that the whole place was filled with youths, who abused us openly and threatening to attack us. When the police could no longer tolerate the situation, they took me back to the police station and promised to go back when the emir got to the palace. We returned to the police station. They later called to say the emir had arrived the palace and that we should come back. This was at about one o’clock in the afternoon. At the palace, one jeep came with my daughter. There were also two policemen in the vehicle and the chief of Tufa, with another man. The two policemen took my daughter inside.
Inside was Yinusa, and my daughter, who they Aisha. They did not allow me inside. The DCO went in and later stormed out in anger, saying he cannot tolerate a situation where the mother of a child would not be allowed to interfere in a matter that concerns her and where she cannot be allowed to go with her daughter. At this point, tension in the palace got very high; so they quickly pushed me into the car and drove off back to the police station. At the police station, the DCO reported back to the DPO and then said with the way the matter was going, he would have to refer me to the state CID. We then proceeded to the state CID, and they took the letter and the statement and said since the case happened in Bayelsa, I would have to come with police personnel from the Bayelsa state command before they could commence investigation. So they advised me to go back to Bayelsa.

What was you daughter’s reaction when you finally met this week?
She was happy to see me. She recognised me and stood up to greet me when I entered the room where she was kept.

Did you notice changes in her behaviour?
I have not noticed anything like that yet because we have not really interacted. The only thing is that she asked me about her brothers and sisters back home. She is really looking forward to going home.
When did you leave Bayelsa on Tuesday.
We left Bayelsa at about nine o’clock in the morning of Tuesday.

PoliticsI Appoint More Northerners Because They Are My People And I Trust Them – Buhari by optionB(op): 4:08pm On Mar 04, 2016
Buhari in an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday stated the Constitution allowed him full control over the selection of his closest officials.

The president assured that he wasn’t ignoring some section of his society in his appointments, explaining that people he appointed were his most trusted associates.

Responding to the interviewer’s question on the controversy generated by the appointments, Buhari said[b] “This is the nature of Nigerian politics”.

“If they will do justice to me, as an elected Nigerian president, let them look at the Constitution a Nigerian president works with, there are people who will closely work with me that don’t need to be taken to the Senate”.

“If I select people whom I know quite well in my political party, whom we came all the way right from the APP, CPC and APC, and have remained together in good or bad situation, the people I have confidence in and I can trust them with any post, will that amount to anything wrong?”

“I have been with them throughout our trying times, what then is the reward of such dedication and suffering? “They did not defect because of positions, they did not involve themselves in the pursuit of personal gains, and they accepted their fate throughout our trying moments.”

“What is wrong if I make you the secretary (of the federal government) because I have confidence that things will go normal?”

On the abducted Chibok girls missing since April 2014, Buhari said the Boko Haram sect had “have scattered them, and are being guarded at dispersed locations.

“Most of the girls are Christians and were forced to embrace Islam. And the sect’s cruel leaders have married some of the girls, obviously against their wish. Others have been left to practice their religion but their condition could hardly be ascertained.

“Both ground and air security personnel in the Sambisa forest could spot where the girls are, but since the insurgents have also kidnapped housewives and other women, no one could say whether they mixed them or how they dispersed them.

PoliticsArms Deal: Dasuki Produces Evidence Against Buhari In Court by optionB(op): 4:02pm On Feb 27, 2016
The former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, has on Friday, February 26, accused President Muhammadu Buhari, of planning to incarcerate him despite being granted bail by courts of competent jurisdiction.

Dasuki, through his lawyer Joseph Daudu, exhibited and displayed several newspaper cuttings, containing comments credited to Buhari vowing not to allow Dasuki enjoy his freedom, even if granted bail by any court.

Daudu, who led a retinue of lawyers on behalf of his client, urged Justice Peter Affen, of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, to enforce his order which granted bail to Dasuki, adding that justice is for all parties in any court action.

Dasuki has been accused of diverting N2.1 billion arms deal funds meant for prosecuting the war against the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Former NSA has been held incommunicado since his arrest last year, despite been granted bail by various court of competent jurisdiction.

Dasuki, disclosed that Buhari orchestrated his detention unjustly against various bail granted to him by three different courts.

In an affidavit filed in support of his application at the court, Dasuki said the president betrayed his emotions during his maiden media chat when he openly told Nigerians that he (Dasuki) and Nnamdi Kanu, the pro-Biafra leader, could not be released on bail, because they would jump bail.

He therefore, asked Justice Affen to prohibit his further trial until the federal government purged itself of the contempt of court which prevented him from filing effective defence, because of his continued detention by the State Security Service, SSS, without having access to his lawyers.

Dasuki’s lawyer, stated that the claim that the former NSA was being held by the SSS and not the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, could not hold water, because the federal government was the complainant in the charge against Dasuki and that both the SSS and EFCC are agents of the Federal Government.

Reacting to the application, the lawyer to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacob, told Justice Affen that the charge against Dasuki was at the instance of the EFCC and not the SSS.

He denied that the federal government disobeyed the court, on the grounds that on December 29, 2015 when the bail conditions were perfected, Dasuki was released by the prison authorities at Kuje, but was however re-arrested by another government agency.

Jacob asked the court not to grant Dasuki’s application, because the SSS that re-arrested him was not a party to the charges before Justice Affen who granted him the bail.

On the newspaper publications, Jacob said they were not tenable before the court, because they were not certified as required by law.

After listening to the parties, Justice Affen fixed March 4, 2016 to give a ruling on the application.
