I have a friend who just had a terrible encounter. [just cant stop laughing] This dude is currently undergoing intensive councilling or should i say psychological rehabilitation. It all started one day, on his way from a night club with his girlfriend, he ran redlight and got a chase from the cops. Dude got into trouble. After a criminal record check on him and his girl, a document surfaced exposing his girfriend to be a "man" in years past. The document showed that this dude's "sweetheart" was a man who underwent transgender! lol. Funny, the dude has got imaginations and has done the unthinkables with this girl that was once a man.
Now he feels like hanging himself! Am just waiting for him to get himself together so that i can ask him where he has been stickin his "Tom" all this while. grin

Just wonder if it was you!

CareerRe: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by orbaxy(m): 8:21pm On Jan 27, 2011
@Natgas,
wellCAP certification (surface or subsea stack qualification) @ Supervisory level is majorly for personnels with supervisory roles on a drilling rig. ( not in anticipation)
If you participate @ drillers level, its ok, but thats for roughnecks and rig personnels.

Your experience may differ, but i'll tell you my case. I am a Peroleum engr from a reputable school, My wellCAP certification was from International Petroleum Center, Abu Dhabi UAE, a very reputable institution. With all this, it was difficult securing a job in Nigeria because i never had a hands-on-rig experience. most drilling companies recruit personnel and send them for IWCF training before deployment. Transocean currently acquired IADC licence on well control training facilitation. most drilling companies are on the same gear.
I'll prefer you enrol for an Msc in Petroleum Engineering, it will give you far better advantage than to sink such funds in a self-sponsored singular course. IPF is a reputable institution in Nigeria. There Msc is very good and you also get IWCF certified at the end of the program. So its Ok.
But if you're keen on running certifications basically for rig work, you can go for bundle courses like (Bosiet, Huet, Rig HSE, fire-fighting and RigPass.) If you have this combination, you're good to go.

@Okeyz
Thank u for your reply.Yes I have the means for MSc but its here in Nigeria.I thought these companies prefer these certifications to our masters here and what about the Well Control Course in Uniport?People in the industry rate the Uniport Drilling School "High" maybe because it has some international affiliations,most notably with a drilling School in France in conjunction with Elf.What do u think?
Natgas, are you refering to me as Okeyz?
maybe, i can only comment if you address me by my name so that it doesnt get mixed up.  grin

RomanceYour Fiancee's Disposition To Your Personal Secrets by orbaxy(op): 6:36pm On Jan 25, 2011
I have always wondered, is it proper for a fiancee to confide more in her female friends than her partner?
Personally, i had a grudge with my girl because she'll tend to discuss more pressing matters with her girlfriends and keep same away from me.
Now, my close pal was embarassed when he was confronted with a "you-should-know" situation concerning his girlfriend and alas, he knew nothing about a 3-month health situation eating up his girlie. When her asked her, all she could say was "it's a girl thing".

Please NL ladies, do you trust yourselves better than your man?

I Greet the House!
I have a few question running through ma head that I earnestly seek answers.Am planning for a Career switch to Drilling, so am making plans for some drilling courses in Well Control.

1.IWCF and IADC which is better?
2.Am thinking of getting IWCF Certification in Supervisory Level,is it possible for a non experience candidate?
3.Will IWCF,BOSIET and MEDICAL CERTIFICATION give me an edge into the Offshore industry?
4.There is a Well Control Certification Course in Uniport Drilling School.it runs for 4 weeks for #450K what do u guys think about it?
5.Which is more recognize in the industry MSc in Petroleum related courses or these mentioned above Certifications?
6.How much does IWCF and BOSIET cost?and which Exam/Training Center would you recommend?

All answers and advise are welcome.
Thank u.
well, its a tricky one. I had my B.eng in petroleum engr. looked for a job, got non. so i want for wellCAP IADC certification and OSHA construction safety certification, i ended up picking a job as a HSE officer. In Nigeria, IWCF is prefered over IADC.

Currently, am in for my Msc in Petroleum Engr here in Abu dhabi, without experience, well control certification (supervisory level) matters little, if you have the means for Msc, its far better though it takes a longer while.

@Sherrify,

Personally, i wanted to relent from posting a comment but the onus lies on me to debunk the one-sided perspective you've been throwing around.
I live and work in UAE ( abu dhabi).
I know Dubai very very well, alots of Nigerians who are professionals are gainfully employed. I got my job from Nigeria and got my ticket fares, visa and accomodation arranged well before i arrived UAE. Am not the first, and will not be the last.

You're talking about Nigerians stalking around in Deira, expecially around Deira park hotel, Zagy hotel and California hotel isn't that so?
It is very pathetic how people are quick to board a plane without having any "plans" on how to make ends meet. you call it "hussle" i call "gamble".
Expecially when you have no certificates or degree.
Why do you think Indians run this economy? because they are well educated and also watch out for their kins.
We Nigerians are friggin selfish and wicked! You Sherrify! haven't you heard about "karrywaleei"Visas Nigerians do for people? 98% of you people in Deira are on this visa isn't that so? Then tell me, how exactly are you supposed to get a decent life when you're an illegal immigrant who have overstayed a 2week entry permit? Be sensible and stop sounding like Dubai made your life hell. "we" did it to ourselves! people just move down here and vanish into the thin air with no residence and work permit and still expect a decent life, Bullshit!! don't tell people there are no jobs here! A company sponsored my Msc so that i can work for them after my graduation here in Abu Dhabi! They NEED people, but you got to have the right papers. We Nigerians don't tell ourselves the truth!!
Personally, i spoke against this "karrywalei" visa Nigerians resident in UAE do for unsuspecting immigrants to a pastor here in UAE and people said am trying to be a good guy and block business for them. i was almost called a snitch! Anyway, I don't need to go further. All i'll say is that opportunity abounds here but you need to come through the right process. Its always better to get the job from your home country. you wont spend a dime. Lets be our brothers keeper.
Maybe i'll start a thread on Dubai jobs.

I love this script!!

"get pregnant for one"
"sister finds out and stabs husband"
"you run away from home"
"a good dude falls for you despite the pregnancy"

Honestly, i think 190 started this script thing (when aborted baby reappears).

we'll wait for part two.
