The implications of this development on Canada is very complex. If the US gets direct access to Venezuela's oil, they would compete heavily with Canadian oil in the Gulf Coast and Pacific Coast. The pipeline systems have been reversed in such a manner that crude oil main flows from North to South and not the other way round. Direct access to cheaper Venezuela's oil will not happen overnight. Global oil and gas companies will have to invest heavily in the sector, which will not happen overnight. It will take time before they have access to the "cheap" crude from Venezuela. Trump has only 3 years left. What matters right now is the person in power when Trump's Presidency is over.
Canadian government should invest more in developing its own economy and people rather than spending heavily on wasteful global charity programs. Prioritizing domestic growth, jobs, and affordability would make more sense to many Canadians.

Mark Carney pretends he was “matching” tariffs with the United States, trying to fool Canadians into thinking he forced concessions from Trump by removing tariffs on CUSMA goods.
The truth is Trump’s tariffs never touched CUSMA goods.
Carney scrapped tariffs for absolutely nothing a fake victory dressed up as negotiation. It shows just how easy it is to mislead Canadians with empty politics. grin grin grin

Through Agent
The agent is lying to you because you’ve either already been refused the visa or even banned for submitting fake documents. The only way to know the truth is to request your GCMS notes . that’s the detailed record the visa officer keeps on your file.

My little bit -

1) For sure, Canada needs to build it's economic base and this involves increasing both the population and economic activities including resource extraction. Perhaps, the latter before the former at this point if we are reading the room right. We can also talk about how to leverage on the Northwest passage but that is another matter entirely. There are other reasons apart from the abundance of critical minerals that Trump had eyes on both Greenland and Canada.

2) Carney can not afford to do whatever Trump wants. Those who advocate for doing whatever Trump wants are engaging in peak detraction. Carney's mandate was based on national pride, his experience managing an economy in 'lean' times, difference in political belief from Cons/Republicans etc. History has shown that bending to the will/pacifying someone who seeks to intimidate is not the way to go - see Neville Chamberlain in Munich as an example. One can stoop to conquer initially, but the long term play should be something other than laying down for one's belly to be tickled.

3) History has also shown that populist regimes always self destruct. Just wait....

4) Speaking of patience, Carney may be waiting for the CUSMA review, by that time the after-effects of all these tariff brouhaha would have made landfall and reached the pocket of 'Joe Sixpack' and with the looming midterms next year - the stakes will be very high. At this point, it won't matter if the DNC gets their act right or not, if folks are paying more for everyday stuffs, people would want to hold someone responsible.
If Trump continues to take a similar hard stance with CUSMA, then immediately post CUSMA and pre midterm will be the time to borrow Douglas Ford's big stick. Go toe-to-toe and dollar-for-dollar.
As unemployment is raising and people start losing their homes, your idea of “national pride” will collapse soon. Pride without economic power is fake just like the way some shops are relabeling U.S.-made goods as “Made in Canada” to fool buyers as buy in canada made good. Stop deceiving urself

Good morning @everyone. I recently applied for a study permit in Canada and I have gotten to the medicals stage and I want to ask what's next after medicals...Is it a positive indication for getting the visa or it doesn't matter?
Next is wait for ircc decision on ur application but medicial passed only mean ur application under processing that not final decision and it does mean ur visa will be accepted or rejected!

Good afternoon guys

So I heard if one is going to a Canadian college as an international student, you cant bring someone over. Does it also mean that you can't apply for a visiting visa for someone to at least visit you huh?
Anybody can apply visit visa but only the visa officer decide who to get a visa

So why are you roaming the thread and being sarcastic? Abi you have a side gig with IRCC to discourage as many people as you can?
Do you think ircc need to discourage anybody from visa application pls just you know ur visa application fee even a rejection is still a revenue plus to canadian govt!

IRCC has collected over $1.3 billion in revenue, with a significant portion (35%) coming from fees related to temporary residence like visitor visa rejection

Thank you. Another issue I'm looking is that my mom is on Temporary Residence because she recently won her asylum: although she is undergoing medication prior to her arrival to Canada. She crossed from United States to Canada before applying for asylum. Her health made her unfit to work.
The letter I submitted was from her Doctor in Canada that I need to visit her.
Firstly, she is not even a permanent resident yet and she is already becoming a burden on the government. Visa officers likely see you as a potential asylum seeker, and to avoid adding another one , you will most likely continue to face refusals at least until she becomes a permanent resident in about 2 to 3 years, or a working-class citizen in around 5 years .I sincerely wish you good luck.

Thank you so much for your reply.
So you are advising that it is better that we come back to Nigeria to apply?
Can't we apply from our using all our Nigeria information?

However, one of our family friends in Qatar wants to apply from Qatar also, she said I should ask if she and her family also stands the chances of getting the visa should the apply from Qatar?
From my observation, the Canadian embassy is notorious for refusing visa applications from Nigerians applying from places like Qatar, Dubai, oman, kuwait etc., unless the trip is work-related or the applicant already holds a valid U.S. visa or strong mutii eu visas .You can still try your luck, but the statistics are not in your favour.

Government is taking care of her. But I wrote that I will be going with my cash up to #15m for just 7days. I dnt want to go now. She had been pressuring me since 2023 but I cant leave my family here in Nigeria just for 1 days. I love my family so much.
Once I get the Gsms, I will share it here.
Too many loopholes .ur mum not workimg but depend on welfare and u the child coming to visit is been sponsor by a company and u plan to hold 15m..please let be more realistic with visa application to avoid refusal!sorry too many reason to be refused!

Of course I did. It's my company that is fully sponsoring my short trip. I attached Statement of account
Using a company to sponsor a tourist or family visit is a weak justification and often leads to refusal.A company is a separate legal entity, established to conduct business and generate profit —not to fund personal or leisure trips.
Even if you are the owner, immigration officers view such sponsorships with suspicion because they blur the line between personal expenses and business operations.
Unless the visit directly relates to business objectives (e.g., attending a conference, meeting clients), using a company to justify a pleasure trip raises red flags and can result in visa denial.

Thank you very much
I personally don't fully subscribe to nudity, especially in the presence of kids, but that is not enough to negate or diminish what the pride month stands for
It was too funny! I saw one Black woman using her hand to cover her son’s face the moment those naked ladies started parading like, “Junior, close your eyes! This one no be Cartoon Network!” 😂

Your last paragraph is funny
The LGBT community fought for (rightfully so) for their rights NOT to be discriminated against and they have their own time to mark that (just like black folks, women etc all do)

"They are always forming victim...." aspect to that last paragraph is insensitive talk tbvh and I know you will say you don't care, and i don't care IF you don't care, just thought to point it out

That said
To the other guy
It's not compulsory to participate in pride month
Anyone who tells you otherwise dey whine you
on my own part, I do participate with my full chest and anyone who don't like it that knows me can go bang his head on a pole undecided

But you don't have to
Just don't sound like a jerk when giving your reasons
You sound more like a jerk with ur weak explanation. The LGBT community rightfully fought for equal rights and protection from discrimination but let’s be honest, many now constantly play the victim, even when there’s no actual attack.
What’s the purpose of those naked parades in Toronto every Pride Month? Does that make any sense to a reasonable person? Would you seriously take your children to such a gathering? It’s become less about pride and more about public indecency, shock value, and attention-seeking.
Let’s not pretend what dominates these events is cross-dressing and performative behavior, not genuine advocacy. It's loud, exaggerated, and often disconnected from the real issues affecting the average LGBTQ+ person.
And let’s be clear most companies only jump on the Pride bandwagon for financial gain or public image. It's not about values; it's about profit and staying “on trend.
But many companies are withdrawing this year like Home Deport confirmed that it has withdrawn its sponsorship for the pride parade.

Hello good people,

Please, I need your assistance. I am currently in Canada under refugee status and living with my partner, who is a Canadian citizen. We have a baby together, and we are planning to get married in November.

My fiancée would like my mother to attend the wedding, which we plan to celebrate in a big way. She has already written an invitation letter stating that she will provide accommodation and cover any financial needs during my mother’s stay in Canada.

My question is:
Is it necessary for me to include my own pay stubs and bank statements in the application, even though my fiancée is the one providing all the required documents and financial support?
Are you an asylum seeker, or has the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) recognized you as a Convention refugee or a person in need of protection? Secondly, if you initially entered Canada as a visitor and later claimed asylum, a visa officer may closely scrutinize your guest’s intentions, suspecting they may have a similar motive. In either case, be sure to include your own immigration documents with the application, and financially document atleast the visa officer will see you contributing to the economic as your fiancee cannot sponsor or invite someone alone it is a wedding involving both parties.

Hello, I am seeking your advice. I submitted my visit visa application on April 28 and paid for the biometric letter on May 1st, but I haven't received a response yet. I've sent a webform with the payment receipt and also tried calling, but was told to use the webform only. Any suggestions on what I can do to move forward? Appreciate your help.
If you receive a biometric instruction letter and go ahead to book and complete your biometrics at the Canada Visa Application Centre as instructed, then you have to wait for IRCC's final decision, which could take about 3 to 4 months from the date of your biometrics..so have you given ur biometric at visa centre?

I work in a bank. showed 6m in Money market, 3k dollar, $ investment.
After rejection some1 said the money must be in cash in ur account.
Any advice from the house is welcome.
Also do i need to apply for GCMS note.

Your current employment situation does not show that you are financially established in your country of residence.
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).
If your Canadian visitor visa was refused recently , avoid reapplying immediately. Rushing may make you appear desperate which often leads to another refusal especially now that IRCC is applying stricter scrutiny. Instead, consider travelling to countries with easier visa approval. Building a solid travel history can strengthen your credibility and show that you're a genuine tourist who respects visa conditions.Be strategic, not reactive. Reapply only when your case is stronger.

Either you learn a globally recognized skill or certification—at least start with the basics—or you’ll end up doing security jobs, PSW work, or Uber Eats deliveries for the rest of your life.

And yes, feel free to report me if the truth hurts—just like you always do when the truth is too painful to hear.

Here are some good starting points:

Entry-Level Certifications:

Entry-Level DevOps Engineer https://www.tealhq.com/certifications/entry-level-devops-engineer

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) https://www.pmi.org/certifications/certified-associate-capm

If you already have experience, aim higher:

Project Management Professional (PMP) https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project-management-pmp

IIBA Business Analysis Certifications https://www.iiba.org/business-analysis-certifications/iiba-certifications/

Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/data-analyst-associate/?practice-assessment-type=certification

with any of this jobs starting out of school you will make $85,000 CAD Minimum a year thats with out much exprience

Please dont be like my Good friend Badadvisor who didnt plan before coming to canada and even while in canada after school he has no plan
None of these jobs will pay you $85K right after school that’s pure false hope. Even if you manage to land an interview, you’re up against thousand overqualified applicants with years of experience who are still jobless in Canada. The market is saturated, and a certificate alone means nothing when employers are asking for 4+ years of local experience for so-called entry-level roles!!!

DID YOU KNOW??

Many of us were not prepared for this, and no one really told us.

There’s something called INTEGRATION INTO THE SYSTEM IN CANADA?

This isn’t about how much money you brought or your status back home in Nigeria. It’s about your character and how you adjust to a new environment.

You must prepare to integrate. No matter how much you came with, a time will come when you’ll want to start earning in dollars. That’s when the real test begins.

Integration means many things: finding a job, studying for your driving test, using maps to get around, and most importantly, being humble enough to ask questions and seek help. You can learn how to integrate quickly.

But the list doesn’t stop there.

Many assumptions and plans you made before arriving may not give you the same results here. Real life hits differently.

Bottom line: Integrate fast. Be intentional. Seek information.

Some people have access to strong networks and first-hand information in Canada. But many don’t. If you’re one of those without inside connections, your success will depend on how quickly and wisely you choose to integrate.
But integration alone won’t save you if the system is stacked against you.
Even those who did everything right are now stuck.
Jobs are scarce, PGWPs are expiring, and IRCC keeps changing the rules.
No job = no PR, and most newcomers can’t find stable work.
Employers are overwhelmed, and desperation is everywhere.
The system now filters more than it welcomes!!

Refusal rates have been high lately including student visa application, but it looks like they’re approving more applications from those who already hold a valid U.S. visa or have a strong travel history.

Please I have someone in Ontario who’s in die need of job. Please help with any connect or any place recruiting please..! The person can work full time.
Jobs are very hard to find in Ontario right now unemployment is rising, and competition is tough. With Trump’s new tariffs on Canadian goods, things are getting worse since 80% of Canada’s exports go to the U.S., hitting many manufacturing industries hard. But tell the person not to give up. Keep applying, tailor their resume for each job, network on LinkedIn, and try temp agencies like Adecco or any around ur area Persistence still pays off.

My uncle is going on vacation to Canada in October, and 2 of his kids want to accompany him. He has a valid Canada visa. These kids are both females, married, and in their 30s. He will be the sole sponsor of the trip.

I want to know if it's proper for both kids to apply for visas together as a group or if each person should apply individually. He will give them necessary documents to support their applications.
Firstly, has your uncle previously traveled with the children, as this relates to travel history? Also, how old is your uncle? These are key factors to consider, especially given how strict Canada's visa processing has become. It’s important to take a stronger and more well-prepared approach to the application. Additionally, a 30-year-old is not a child and should be able to sponsor themselves.

Thank you! And what are your thoughts on how the organizers of the retreat should position themselves to increase chances of being approved. It's not a generic conference so they may not have the conference registered with IRCC. and sponsors are also the organizers of the events.
To be honest, the chances of approval lie more with the applicant than the event organizers. Many have abused the conference visa route in the past to claim.asylum, and unfortunately, Nigeria is now flagged as high-risk for such applications. So even if the organizers do everything right, it's still a big challenge to get approved . that's just the reality right now.so just submit ur application and hope for tbe best.
