Christianity EtcDont Breach Public Peace Buhari Tells Religious Bodies Aftermath Kaduna Clash by orobs93(op): 10:00pm On Dec 15, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has warned religious bodies across Nigeria to refrain from activities that are capable of breaching public peace and order.

He advised them to always respect constituted authorities and extant laws when conducting their activities.

President Buhari gave the warning on Tuesday through the Minister of Interior, General Abdularahman Danbazzau, when he visited Zaria in Kaduna State to assess the impact of the violent clash between the Nigerian Army and Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria last Saturday.

The Minister, who was accompanied during the visit by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, warned that the Federal Government, under his leadership, would not condone any action of lawlessness and total disregard to rule of law by any religious organisation or individual.

Breach Of Public Peace

Following the unfortunate incident, Soldiers reportedly demolished the Hussainiyya Shrine of the sect located around the PZ area and the residence of their Spiritual leader, Sheik Ibraheem El Zakzaky, at Gulleysu also in Zaria.

The Minister and his entourage, who were taken round the area by top army officials, are expected to make their findings known to the President.

The Minister expressed disappointment over what he called continued show of disrespect for the law and breach of public peace by members of some groups in Nigeria and cautioned them to desist from such act.

The clash has paralysed economic activities in the ancient city, as banks, markets and schools still remained close in fear there could be further clashes.

Residence of the area are still indoors as the entire area is still cordoned off by heavily armed soldiers.

‘Most Unfortunate’

The sect members and the Nigerian Army have continued to trade blames, as to who instigated the clash.

While the army alleged that the members of the sect attempted to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff, LT General Tukur Buratai, the sect denied the allegation.

The group claimed that the military killed 500 of their members in the incident that the Army described as ‘most unfortunate‘.

On Tuesday, news of a renewed protest by the sect members in some parts of the state capital to protest the killing of the members and detention of their leader in army custody, sparked tension, as traders, banks, schools had to close as early as eleven in the morning.

However, security was beefed up within the metropolis, as heavily armed security operatives were seen patrolling all over the place.

The National Human Rights Commission has set up a Special Investigations Panel into the clash after it received complaints received from the Nigerian Army and concerned citizens.

TonyeBarcanista:
I was shocked when I heard/and read of the arrest of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi over his connection with the alleged diversion of $2.2 billion or N640billion meant for arms purchase. Raymond Dokpesi was not a public office holder, he isn't a military chief, neither is he an ex-military man. He isn't a known security contractor. So how did Dokpesi come in contact with N2.1 billion meant for arms purchase? I couldn't answer these questions. I had to wait for his own statement. Fortunately, his DAAR office released a statement which I quote in part...

"Dokpesi explained to the EFCC officials that the N2.1 billion that he collected from the former NSA was payment for for publicity and media political campaigns during the 2015 General Elections.”.
www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/194303-why-i-collected-n2-1-bn-from-ex-nsa-dasuki-dokpesi.html

Explanation Defies Logic...
Sincerely, the explanation of High Chief Dokpesi has several flaws and loopholes. I mean why should we believe Dokpesi that the N2.1 billion paid into his account was for political campaign publicity when the NSA office under Sambo Dasuki was not the Directorate of Finance of PDP Presidential Campaign organisation(PDPPCO)? Was Col Dasuki Sambo the Director of Finance for PDP Presidential Campaign organisation? If there was need for media publicity deal between the PDPPCO and DAAR Communication, was it not the duty of the Director of Publicity (PDPPCO) Fani Kayode to negotiate such deal? If there should be any payment, was it not the duty of Senator (Mrs) Nenadi Usman, the Finance Director of PDPPCO? Wouldn't the money come from the purse of PDPPCO? Is the nation's treasury co-owned by the PDPPCO? How do we now explain the connection between N2.1billion from our treasury to Raymond Dokpesi? Is Dokpesi in any way trying to tell us that Sambo Dasuki on behalf of PDPPCO diverted monies meant for arms purchase for political media publicity of PDP?

PDPPCO Denies Raymond Dokpesi
While pondering on Dokpesi's claim that the whopping N2.1 billion was meant for political campaign, the PDPPCO campaign Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Fani Kayode only recently denies ever having any deal with Dokpesi. An excerpt from his statement reads...

“As far as we are concerned, we don’t have anything to do with the payment made to Dokpesi for publicity.

“Dokpesi is not part of the Presidential Campaign Organisation. We have the structure; you know the Director General, you know the directors. We did not spend one kobo from the public fund."

I believe that someone isn't telling the truth. We need to see the contractual papers between PDPPCO and Dokpesi to determine whether or not PDPPCO was really involved in the N2.1billion fraud.

Raymond Dokpesi Indicted Sambo Dasuki
Without sounding emotional, I believe that Dokpesi's statement though not convincing has further indicted Sambo Dasuki in this arms purchase fraud saga. It is incumbent on Sambo Dasuki to come clean by explaining how N2.1 billion of Nigeria's fund meant for arms procurement moved to Dokpesi's account without even the knowledge of the former finance minister Okonjo Iwaela. Sambo must explain to us how a whopping N4.6 billion manoeuvred into Attahiru Bafarawa's account when he (Bafarawa) is neither a military consultant nor a legitimate arms dealer if truly Bafarwas got such money. Were they using the boko haram menace as "business"?

Justice Not Drama...
It is a very big shame that funds in the tune of N640 billion that was meant for our soldiers and security agents to secure the federation especially the North-East was siphoned by those in position of trust and their allies. The effect of their theft resulted in loss of gallant officers, civilians and properties. It has made some people orphan, some widows, some physically and psychologically disabled, while some lost their homes and means of livelihood. All those fingered in this fraud from Sambo Dasuki, Attahiru Bafarawa and his son, Raymond Dokpesi, the Generals and those yet to be arrested must be made to face the full wrath of the law whether they are fulani, yoruba, ijaw, Igbo, Ibibio, nupe, Kowa, PDP or APC. Justice must be served! Every goat that fed fat on the yams meant for the security of the country shall know no peace

I am ending this piece by expressing 'great' disappointment in Dr Goodluck Jonathan for allowing this monumental fraud to go unchecked under his watch. I don't want to believe that GEJ benefited financially from the whole arrangement for now. I am patiently waiting for the investigators' report. Only God knows how many more fraud were perpetrated by officials of the former administration and their allies across party and tribal line.

After three years of battle with cancer, the spouse of the former Super Eagles boss has passed on at the age of 54 years

Former Super Eagles player and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has lost his wife, Kate to the cold hands of death on Wednesday night.

In a statement from family spokesman Emmanuel Ado, Kate battled with cancer for three years but finally succumbed to it in the United States of America.

A condolence message released by the NFF through its website described the death of the wife of the former coach as a big loss.

“This is devastating. To lose a spouse is the equivalence of a tragedy. I pray that Almighty God will give you and the children the fortitude to bear this huge loss," NFF president Amaju Pinnick said.

“Keshi is a Nigerian hero and we mourn deeply with him at this time. This has come like a big blow, but we pray that he receives divine strength to cope with the situation, and we also pray that the

Almighty God will grant the departed eternal rest.”

Keshi and Kate were married for 33 years.

She is survived by her husband, four children, her mother, brothers and sister.

Keshi led Nigeria to win the Africa Cup of Nations title as a player and as a coach in 1994 and 2013 respectively.
