OhBritannia: We are one Crew. The 100 is in top 3 in one of my best series ever!!! The series is even underrated, i love the series so much and it has one of the best season finale ever, the last episode where octavia spoke was just wow!!!!! I miss the show!!!! I was excited about it when it premiered years back, I avidly followed each episode till i realized that Clarke was unreasonably favoured, she was always winning everything. The show was all about Clarke and how awesome and invincible she was, at least, that was what I thought about season one. From there it was a patchy viewing experience for me, I would watch a couple of episodes then skip some. Ok, watched d last season though, every single episode. |

With a 10% trail stop worst case is he ends up with 12.5% gain overall which is not very bad. If price moves upwards another 10%, then he is sure of 23.8% and so on... |

Then this... ositadima1: From ur moniker i see u do R, SQL and python, with such skills u could develop ur own signals in ur spare time and come here for validation and quality control , there is a lot of data out there to play with.
U can check GTCO, it has been falling in a way that is not in tune with its performance. As mentioned here it could be dat some foreign investors are pulling out of it.
I thought it was a good buy 2 weeks ago, it still is. Its current closing price is below 15 percentile of its last 10years. Meaning that it is currently trading below 85 percent of all its closing price in d last 10 years.
The stock has maintained a growing revenue, pat, equity and eps in d last 10 years. Current dividend payout is above 15% (i think its currently topping d market). Pays dividends without fail annually.
Even if d seller(s) is not done pulling out, what ever price drop will be recovered as d market price in its many positives.
I advise u crunch the numbers and see for ur self. Since d first post, Nov 14 or so, GTCO has returned roughly 26%. I am literally kicking my self for not buying more, should have put d whole emergency fund in it then. |

In my opinion, a first timer should acquire d closing prices for a stock he is interested in buying dating back to 10 years minimum and never buy if price is close to historical peak in addition to coming here for enquiry. |

Agbalowomeri: You are right BUT excel would would do same and much more. Again why do I need these levels of analyses as a retail investor?
HoldCo comes with a different level of risk exposure. At some point, I expect the dividend payout for GTCo to trend lower than Zenith. This is already being priced by the market. Ok Sir, d pandas module in python is like excel but better. HoldCo adding asset management and pension fund businesses will reduce dividend payout ? Expanding beyond banking may not be a bad idea if u ask me, but then i am no expert. I see others following dis path in future. |

Agbalowomeri: My response was directed at your mention of R, SQL & Python. I am sure you don't need these if the aim is technical and fundamental analyses. From experience, the simpler we keep this, the better the outcome.
On GTCO, at least in the short-to-medium term you cannot go wrong at this price. In the long-term, one is uncertain how the company would optimise the HoldCo structure, just like the foreign investors who are pulling out. I differ, with d knowledge of python or R u can make ur own custom charts, custom indicators. When u use mainstream charting software u get limited to what they have available. A few example: 1. You want to analyze d effects of inflation on ur stocks, how do u do that with investing . com? 2. Or u want to compare our local bond rates historically and put it in a chart, how do u do dat? 3. Or u interested in charting some fundamentals, how do u do that? 4. Or find a new indicator and want to implement it, how do u do that? 5. Or u interested in finding d best/worst performing stock across d market doring a particular time interval. Once u can code ur own charts be it bar, scatter plots, candle sticks etc u get more flexibility, can reorganize data d way dat suits u best and derive unique incites. Regarding GTCO, correct me if i am wrong, is it not d same management that was running gtb dat is still running GTCO? |

ololufemi: I'm not sure that China will allow its currency to appreciate because it would directly impact the pricing mechanism of their goods and services in comparison with other producers of such products and services for the world. Such an appreciation will lead to a decline in demand for their products and a shift towards other competing economies that can produce them.at a cheaper price.
The production of goods and services at significantly reduced prices is where I think Nigeria ought to invest heavily to benefit the people and the economy. Labour is significantly cheap in Nigeria and the potential for creation of production and service hubs is massive. Productivity first not bonds(which is a form of debt) makes economy go up. Housing, stocks etc are derivatives not d main drivers.

RabbiDoracle: When very high inflation comes, you don't hold money (no matter the form). You hold real assets or stocks of companies that sell real assets.
As regards naira - dollar events we see, and in my opinion, we are entering the phase of full digital naira (e-naira). In this phase, there could be too few notes available for circulation.
If there are less naira notes, those with dollar (hoarders, illicit businesses) would want to exchange their paper dollar with new naira notes and they will see that notes are no longer available. Naira notes will now be very scarce. So you either go to to the bank to open a naira account (if they don't have one) or you get stuck with the paper dollars. When hoarders (not genuine businesses holding forex in their books) are tired and need e-naira to use for day to day transactions, they will approach traditional BDCs or banks to change their paper dollars. These institutions will only issue them digital naira. Nothing more!
What will cause exchange rate to collapse faster?
From above, as more hoarders see that they can't transact business using local naira notes, they will be force en masse to go into BDCs or banks to change their useless paper to e-naira. This will cause a severe crash of the $-NGN rates. This will bring convergence of official and parallel market rates.
What if I mask my sales of paper dollar via peer to peer transfer as just a harmless transfer to a friend/family while selling the paper dollar higher to them?
Except your friend/family intends to travel abroad where they still use paper dollar, in most cases everyone will reject the paper dollars. Many countries have started their digital currencies transactions. Starting from 2023 lots of other countries will come onboard to use e-currencies.
That way speculative attacks on any nation's currencies will be eliminated or reduced.
And when these paper dollars reach banks, they will exchange at CBN official rates. Traditional BDCs will reject dollars because they know the game is up since exchange rate convergence is coming . Those who buy higher and can't sell will have to take a loss as they grudgingly walk to the bank.
Till tomorrow you still need naira (and not dollars) to buy tomatoes in nigerian market. D issue with this theory is dat everytime u are buying items made outside Nigeria say a stick of cigarette u unknowingly do dollar transactions, doesn't matter if u use Naira bills or e-Naira in d actual transaction. As long as our appeal for foreign products exceeds our collective revenue from exports CBN will be unable to satisfy dollar demands which in turn will keep dollar appreciating against d Naira. BDCs serves a useful function - providing liquidity for the many that can't get dollars from official outlets and throttling rates with respect to demand and supply. Do u propose that over 50% of demand comes from hoarders? I don't think so. |
