Even if Nigeria has a hundred times there will be no electricity the government built dams in the middle of the Desert where there is no water. Look at mambilla power station since the 1980s Nigeria has tried building this damn only for it to be reduced from 3,000 megawatts to less than 500 megawatts. And now at 500 m what there is still no water to fill the reservoir. This is the northern illiteracy if you look at Lake Chad Lake Chad is 80% empty from 20 years ago there is no water in the north of Nigeria we are still building dams in the North

Mambilla is in the desert?

No wonder Obasanjo lamented ;Yoruba, Ijaw, and other Nigerians should be thanking God for the Igbos, they are the reason Nigeria hasn’t been Islamised yet — OBJ,”
Fulanis people have already claimed yall are captured already, your crude oil belongs to them, theve given themselves 30% of your crude oil to look for crude oil in there desert ;yall asked for 5% nope, but 3% only was given to yall.
Ndigbo have not benefited anything from yall ;even though we are bound brothers and sisters geographically speaking;we inter marry ;same culture, but they have built a refinery in Kaduna ;planning to build another in Maradi Niger republic, none in Igboland.
Yall have been isolated to be conquered;I am from a Crude oil producing area / also a proud Biafran .A

Education you say the Yoruba s they were enjoying free education ;while Biafrans was fighting a three years war for there survival; not to be conquered; like the Hausas;but still; we arise with only 20 pounds;to own 76% of properties in Abuja ,55% in Lagos .
Igbo people of Nigeria were ranked as the most intelligent tribe of black Africa in a US academic report in 2015. ... Igbo don't need Nigeria. Botswana, Rwanda, Ghana and Morocco are all doing great right now.

All the refineries, FPSOs and NLNG train 1-7 in Nigeria were being built under Northern or Western leaders. The 6 years an Eastern man was president nothing was built, even as we earned our largest revenue from oil. Not even the Brass LNG meant for his state was remembered.
They only remembered to finance private jets, Dubai trip and expensive parties. It was years of locust eating everything in sight

The person I responded to said 13000mw is idle. U are saying 9000 to 10000mw is idle.

The question I asked is simple. If d dams produce new 3000mw, will they now be sitting idle like the 13,000mw that is idle? Simple yes or no

Oh Lord!

We have presently about 13,000mw available generation capacity out of which we can only transmit by grid and distribute only 4-5000mw max without suffering grid collapse.

The hydrodam project in this report will add almost 3000mw to make our total capacity for power generation to 16,000mw.

I didn't mean the entire 13,000mw we have today is idle

Cheap power from mainly coal is what is bankrolling China and India economy. We all can see the effects on their manufacturing industry around the world. For we to remain relevant in the scheme of things, international trade, job creation, entrepreneurship, constant power, Nigeria need at least two power stations with minimum capacity of 5,000 MW each. Funny enough, we have abundant deposit of coal in Enugu, Okaba, etc

You are 100% correct

At least life has meaning over there, even if you are illegal immigrants. What is your country offering than suffering and hardship, unless you are eating from the cookies jar!

That's why we should burn coal if necessary so that our industries can have cheap reliable power like the rich countries so our youths can have enough respectable jobs without dieing in the desert while searching for jobs.

Just like we fought UK, Canada Saudi over travel ban, we should be able to surmount any obstacle to coal power if it's our best guarantee for stable power, no apologies about that. We lose too much to lack of stable power compared to the effect of one single power plant on the environment.

Does that means that the 3000mw to generated by these 9 dams will end up being idle like the 13000mw since u say transmission and generation capacity is just 5,000mw?

Exactly, now you are getting it. That's the main essence of the Siemens deal.

So that as Siemens is working on their own part of the system, we will be gradually increasing the 13,000mw available with the addition of 3000mw hydro, and other projects.

A time will come when we must start planning to increase the Siemens 25,000mw distribution capacity to 50,000mw so more investment can be attracted to the power generation sector.

Obasanjo $16b power investment focused on power generation sector with little attention paid to distribution.

Look out all our past leaders and the place they came from. Even our own Buhari, see kastina see bandit, highest insecurities & killings.

That's why we as citizens need to face real issues instead of all these talk of they hate our region that's why we don't have this and that.
If Jonathan were to be president today not a few people will say the banditry was sponsored by FG against the north. Now a northern president is on seat and there's insecurity in the north.
And even if Peter Obi wins presidency we will still complain of bad roads and no seaport after 8 years

They will keep our generation and the coming ones poor while they continue to grow rich burning coal while advising us against it.
Meanwhile our youths will continue to cross Sahara desert, swim and die in Mediterranean ocean to go and sweep floor in countries that grew rich while burning coal.

No country is building coal plants anymore.

There are still new coal power plants about to be built in both China and India. If we want base load reliable power badly enough, we can contact either countries to build us one.

Nobody can beat us for desiring electricity badly enough to go with coal. With 6000mw from coal we can be free from system collapse that happens once militants attack gas pipeline or the plant trips.

We keep on going from stupidity to mediocrity and back to front. All these project are cash cows were politicians loot the country. Most of these hydrodams are not utilized at optimum level more often during the drought and dry seasons. They hardly reach one-half its installed capacity even at highest water level.
All thses amount spent can be use to resuscitate the Oji River power plant in Enugu state and revamp it to up 6000MW capacity or perhaps build another one in Okaba, Ankpa Kogi State. These two areas has abundance deposit of coal.

Most of the powe stations in China, India, Pakistan etc run efficiently on coal with least capacity being around 5,000 MW.

But siting such gigantic project in the East is no no thing for the government because of their hatred for the region. Even the Kogi, being a minority. Below is some coal power plant in China..

Jonathan with Pius Anyim by his side for almost 6 years must have really hated the SE region, they could not start the 6000mw Oji River coal power plant. But their associates had enough cash to buy. $80m luxury yatch, $50m Miami flat and $10m diamond bra.

On another note I see no reason we should not go for one or two coal power plants to give us up to 10,000mw of state power supply

How does this negate what he said?

You both don't understand the difference between generation and distribution.

This report is about power generation from hydro dam sources less than 3000mw.

Another report will talk about gas fired power plant ongoing about 2800mw in all

Dangote also talked about 12,000mw plant possible from his refinery.

We have 13,000mw available power ready to be deployed.

Siemens deal will make it possible to transmit and distribute up to 25,000mw by upgrading the current 5,000mw capacity

But your guy picked only planned hydrodam power generation of about 3000mw and compared to Siemens plan for upgrade of distribution and transmission to 25000mw and started shouting we have failed.

He ignores our current installed capacity, ongoing gas fired power projects and solar plants

That's how semi
-illiterates can be dangerous, reading letter upside down, telling folks their son in the city is sick when he should confess he doesn't understand the letter.

Your guy should be asking questions here not jumping to conclusions with quarter information.

Buhari has destroyed this country, I hope you buy your things in a different market where the prices are cheaper or you’re one of those benefiting from this whole mess, so you have to defend them whatever way. I wonder what you’re supporting in this government. The economy is in shambles, security is at its lowest ebb, everything is costly , Nepotism at its peak, debt profile risen, corruption is still the order of the day, intimidation, abuse of power, negligence of duty, slow to action. It’s so much that I can’t state it all.

But i tend to look at everything from a neutral point. Most people on here seems not to read on what has to do with the government, they just read the topic and assume, speak grammars without realizing they are educated illiterates.

And you really believe a new government will automatically lead to lower prices irrespective of what is happening round the world and Nigeria like the rest of almost the rest of the world will not need loans again because Atiku, Tinubu, or Saraki becomes president? You're actually the educated illiterate.

See bro one of the reasons we are suffering higher inflation is because of the close of border.. that shit haven't helped us in anyway...

By the way do Rwanda sale industrial goods that they're doing quite well than us? No.
Though I know you will call Population as the reason but you forget India has times 5 of our population and they're doing quite well. The year Buhari came to power, between 2015-2019 India pulled more than 300 million people from poverty. That's leadership there.

The Indian govt didn't go blaming past administrations or oil prices or dancing prices( lol I'm joking about the dance) for the amount of poor people in their country or the state of things in their country.

Compare Nigeria to India 2015-2022 and you will see your President and his party are utter failures... Infact, let's even leave India and go to Rwanda, or common Ghana here.

And you think the policy and implementations that enabled India pull such huge number out of poverty as all done within one year?

Edwin Clark is the worst Igbo hater on earth. He is angling for Tinubu in APC Vs. a silly Igbo stooge in PDP! So that Edwin Clark and treacherous men like him could play his betrayal politics to the silly naive Igbo candidate of the PDP who trusts Clark and men like him. grin grin grin

Only APC can guarantee a southeast President now because it holds all the paraphernalia of federal authority to do it.

If the PDP wants to totally lose out in 2023, it should zone its presidential ticket to the south in 2023. The ONLY chance for the PDP to regain power is to zone its presidential ticket to an acceptable northerner. An upright man who is acceptable to both the north and the south.

Igbo always looking for food is ready.

They can't stay to build any part of Iboland to become the hub of activities to attract investment and migration, they must go to Kano or Lagos

They can't stay in APGA to build it to a formidable party, they must stay in PDP or join APC and advise the builders to hand over to them

Pmb is quite simply a bad administrator & has surrounded himself with lieutenants who are nothing more than praise singers...

While borrowing cannot be discounted, a key thing that needed to be done to increase revenue in the short term was to widen the tax bracket.

If it was that easy why didn't Nigeria diversify in the last 50 years we've been suffering from oil price induced boom and bust cycles?

The gradual investment in infrastructure is the surest path to diversification

Has Buhari borrowed more than other presidents combined? Yes or no?

Is Anambra GDP more than that of Niger Republic? Yes or no?

Does it make economic sense for Buhari to build railway into Niger Republic, while ignoring a Nigerian state?

Your reason is empty

Why didn't Jonathan build railway to Anambra and was also busy planning the same railway to Niger republic?
Did Anambra not have big GDP under Jonathan?

Why is Anambra not also building it's own railway the Lagos is building it's own?

The $63bn debt handed over in 2015, who collectd it? and who is paying it back? DEbt has grown to $92bn inlcuding debts by all 36 states, that is addition of about $29bn which is quite small considering investments in Infrastructure, shortfall in oil earninsg and Covid-19 dislocations that has added up to $2 trillion to the debt of USA, $650bn to UK debt and such huge debts to almost all countries of the world

Can $29BN be higher that $63bn you answer for yourself
