samsobo24: EKO rewa, kise kekere http://sunnewsonline.com/abuja-most-beautiful-city-in-africa-says-eritrean-ambassador/There was this at the end of the post Don’t forget that you are the most populated country in Africa, 170-190 million; it’s not a joke. To harness, feed and govern such number of people is a very huge task. I have not heard that Nigeria went hungry because some of our neighbours who claim double digits growth have announced that they have 18million people hungry.
“I never heard such thing about Nigeria; maybe there is inequality, which is everywhere. Maybe there is unequal distribution of wealth as the common man desires; but I think with good administration, Nigeria would be very great in future”. |

Icon79: We totally outplayed and outclassed them in the first half and should've scored a lot more than 2 goals if not that we were a little wasteful. They pressed us late in the second half, especially after they scored one goal, which is understandable because: 1) they were chasing the game 2) our players got tired, having arrived Zambia just the previous night
Some of you guys really need to learn how to analyze games before you start yarning dust!
O pari The opposite will not play out because Nigeria will be playing at home. Chances for Zambia will be limited. |

Politics › Restructuring Takes Flight In Lagos State - Takes Control Of Inland Waterways by owbabs(op): 4:48pm On Jul 25, 2017 |
https://www.facebook.com/followlasg/posts/1543636448990949Ambode backs Appeal Court judgment authorizing state to control inland waterways
…Says era of uncontrolled sand dredging over in Lagos ……Swears-in newly elected 20 LGs, 37 LCDAs Chairmen Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday expressed excitement at the judgment of Appeal Court in Lagos which set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court empowering the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to regulate transportation and sand dredging in the State, saying that the development would go a long way to aid the efforts of the State Government in abating flood in the State. The Appellate Court had, on July 18, 2017, allowed the Appeal of the State Government and set aside the judgment of the lower court. Speaking while swearing-in the newly democratically elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa, Governor Ambode described the judgment as a major success in the quest of the State Government to control its resources and enshrine the true spirit of Fiscal Federalism. He said with the judgment, the era of uncontrolled dredging is now over in the State as the State Government would now take firm control over its inland waterways and the adjoining lands including all sand dredging activities. “I am delighted to inform you that the State Government has recorded a major success in its quest to control its resources and enshrine the true spirit of Fiscal Federalism. Last week on 18th July 2017, the Court of Appeal Lagos Division allowed the Appeal of the Lagos State Government and set aside the Federal High Court Judgment which gave the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority to regulate transportation and sand dredging.
“The era of uncontrolled dredging is over and this serves as a clear warning that the Lagos State Government will now take firm control over its inland waterways and the adjoining lands including all sand dredging activities. This will further aid our efforts in abating flood in the State,” Governor Ambode said.
Addressing the new council chiefs at a well-attended event which witnessed attendance of key party leaders as well as families, friends and well-wishers, Governor Ambode said with the successful completion of Local Government election which held last Saturday, his administration has, once again, demonstrated total commitment to deepen democratic values and good governance at the grassroots. |

Looking at the pictures in a last few pages.
The conclusion:
Nigerian architecture is tops but the beauty is mostly hindered by not so beautiful scenery in comparison with Kenya.
Kenya beats Nigeria because of nice blend of nature, landscaping, architectural taste and finishing.
Nigerians, its not just about the buildings, but the surroundings..need more green. |

Politics › Ambode Terminates 4th Mainland Bridge Concession Agreement by owbabs(op): 3:43am On May 23, 2017 |
https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/05/23/lagos-terminates-n844bn-fourth-mainland-bridge-concession-agreement/The Lagos State Government on Monday disclosed that it had terminated a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it entered into with a consortium of firms to construct the Fourth Mainland Bridge at N844 billion.
Likewise, the state government disclosed that the federal government had not approved its proposal to take over the Oshodi-Airport road and upgrade to a ten-lane highway befitting the state’s megacity status.
The state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Mr. Adebowale Akinsanya, made the disclosure at an annual ministerial briefing he addressed alongside the Permanent Secretary, Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Temidayo Erinle, and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde.
The state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, had on May 25, 2016, signed a concession agreement with consortium of domestic and foreign firms to construct the Fourth Mainland Bridge with a length of 38 kilometres.
The consortium comprised Visible Asset Limited, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc., Hi-tech Construction Limited, J.P. Morgan, Eldorado Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Westminster Dredging and Marine, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Access Bank.
After the concession agreement was signed, an Advance Engineering Consultant, Mr. Ger Horgan, put the actual cost of the bridge at N790 billion, though the 10-year follow-up programme for structural pavement between 2018 and 2033 would gulp N5 billion.
Aside, the consultant put the cost of overlay with line and refurbish between 2055 and 2061 at N10 billion; valued the five-year refresh programme along the route between 2030 and 2061 at N19 billion and the annual operating cost between 2021 to 2061 at N20 billion.
But at the ministerial briefing, yesterday, the commissioner explained the rationale behind the termination of the concession agreement, citing the slow pace at which the concessionaire was working. He said the reason the state government terminated the contract of former investors was mainly “due to slow pace of work. We are now looking at many investors, though interest is very high.”
The commissioner, however, disclosed that investors had started scouting for the project from different parts of the world, though the state government had not decided on the proposals it had received.
He said the state government “has started the proposals. We have such investors from South Korea, Europe and the United States among few others. What we are doing now is vetting the proposals. We do not want to waste any further time. So works are in top progress on the Fourth Mainland Bridge.
Akinsanya, therefore, said the investors would be named very soon, assuring Lagosians that the state government would enter into concession agreement with appropriate investors that deliver the project. On Oshodi-Airport road project, Erinle said the state government was yet “to obtain the federal government’s approval on the airport road project. We want to assure residents that whenever there is approval, our engineers will move to site.
“However, we are still collaborating with the federal government to get things resolved. The road is not in good condition; hence, we need to move fast. Also, Apapa road, like Airport road, is a federal road. We are collaborating with the federal government to get them done.”
He said the state government “has designed the reconstruction of the road project and the funds to embark on the project, but the federal government is yet to grant approval. But we are still talking on it.” |
