Please no open gutters, sand on streets You need walkways with landscaping, No fences around buildings Marked roads with minimum of 3 lanes Street lights, traffic lights Well designed covered drainage Everywhere needs to be scaped and paved No open soil Every plot/building should have a minimum of 30 percent land area dedicated to greenery. Plant 2 or 3 trees per house Build hundreds massive parks distance of 5km max apart Doing these will bring more life to whatever architectural designs you come up with. |

true2home: What the Op is blinded by is the fact the US and other Western countries use African to develop their country period. Slavery developed all the country you are showing here today. Go back into history and show me this same countries before slavery!!!
The problem I see is with the Citizen of Nigeria. The OP is a perfect example; quick to find problem and lack knowledge for solution. Nigerians are the most educated but their education is to be professional slave to the less educated around them. Their degrees are for gaining employment and bragging; never innovate, create, manufacture or establish anything meaningful in their society.
Those claiming that the country is not supportive of their knowledge failed to realize that the country was just put together for the benefit of another country. As not to be blinded as the OP, I will suggest my SOLUTION as a patriotic Nigeria:
We need a country to start with. Are we really a country? In my observation, the answer is NO. Igbo don't believe they are Nigerian. Yoruba and Hausa will never trust Igbo with Power, but yet they want to say these people are also Nigerian. I was shocked when most Yoruba I asked if they will support an Igbo President said capital no!!! I'm Yoruba by the way. I've always believed we are one Nigeria; I find out am totally wrong
My solution is simple, we all need to be Patriotic Nigerian. Work honestly for the development of the country.
IF YOU ARE AN ENGINEER, EXECUTE YOUR CONTRACTS TO THE WORLD STANDARD
IF YOU ARE A DOCTOR, DO YOU BEST TO SAVE LIFE; MONEY SHOULDNT BE A BARRIER TO TREATING PATIENTS
IF YOU ARE AN INSPECTOR, ACTUALLY DO YOU JOB AND MAKE SURE THE RIGHT EQUIPEMENTS ARE WHERE THEY SHOULD BE
A JUDGE SHOULD DO HIS JOB WITH HONESTY
POLICE SHOULD LEAVE #20 ALONE AND STOP KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE, RATHER, DO THEIR JOB
so, we all need to just do our jobs and the country will develop immediately. Dubai made that decision few years back and they become the toast of the world today. How does being Yoruba dwelling amongst other tribes stop you from developing Yorubaland? What are state governors doing? The problem is lack of will. It's like Nigerians are not seeing the need to develop. Even Africa is leaving the country behind. |

whirlwind7: While I agree with you, one thing you should know is, most of those trees you are referring to were planted. Caucasians make it a point to plant trees around their homes. Those tree lined boulevards and avenues were planned. The trees didn't just appear. Those seemingly natural aerial views are mostly landscaped with carpet grasses and selected trees.
I'm not excusing Nigeria's situation, mind you. Those treeless and dusty looks are eyesores. I am with the OP. It seems we share the same frustrations with Nigeria. @delibrate landscaping and planting of trees - THAT IS THE POINT! - Build up your environment. It is not about comparing with the US. Check out Nairobi, Kigali, Cape town, Dar es Salaam, Abidjan New towns are springing up in the developed countries with plans to build hundreds of parks. Our city masterplans are outdated and either nonexistent or not enforced. |

Rossikk: Stop typing rubbish. Nigerian/West African soil is very unfriendly to grass. In Europe and other temperate regions you don't even need to plant any grass before it grows. All you have to do is trim and cut. That's why everywhere is covered on grass as a lawn, or there's a pavement/road, and very little sand to see. It is about soil type. It's not about West African soil. The sand/dirt in many Nigerian cities is combination of environment, neglect, irresponsible planning/construction, underdevelopment and poor maintenance. Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire is relatively neat and lush compared to Lagos. It's the standards of development that is upheld while constructing and building these cities that will affect neatness. If we had nice layouts with parks, grass, concrete, sidewalks with zero tolerance to dirt, where would the sand come from? |
Politics › Re: , by owbabs: 5:25am On Dec 31, 2017 |
Rossikk: It is EXPENSIVE and highly time consuming to maintain a lawn in Nigeria. Look, you can have issues with Naija, but just leave this one out of it. Our climate does not support it. Look how hard we struggle to keep even stadium grass level. You think it's because we don't know how to water grass? It's because of the climate, dude. I think these days they import special grass seedlings for those stadia which is why they look much better nowadays. Part of this issue we need to know how to solve problems with technology. Egypt and Algeria are in desert regions. How come they are able to maintain their pitches in Stadiums? Of course they use synthetic pitches. There are lots of places in the middle east and Asia that are not arable but with technology they have been able to water continuously their farms to produce food. |

Croatian Coach On Nigeria : Iwobi & Moses Too Similar, No World-Class Players Published: December 23, 2017 Croatian Coach On Nigeria : Iwobi & Moses Too Similar, No World-Class PlayersCroatian manager Tomislav Obradovic has predicted that Croatia will overcome Nigeria when both teams face off in the World Cup on Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad on June 16, and has stressed that there are several players with the same characteristics in the Super Eagles squad.
Obradovic was coach of the Rwandan U20 National Team for two and a half years, and he almost qualified the country for the 2009 Fifa U20 World Cup.
Asked to compare Nigeria's offensive players Iwobi and Chelsea's Victor Moses, Obradovic told Sportske Novosti: ''Compare all of them with their characteristics? Everyone is similar and quick, good within a group. But where are the world-class players?
''It's probably quite enough, but as a team I do not think they have world-class quality. Why do I say that? They have too many players with the same characteristics.
''They can not beat Croatia. Not in one segment of the game. Neither technical, tactical, nor organizational, nor in any sense. ''
Tomislav Obradovic warned the Croatian team that Nigeria's counter attack can be dangerous because they have fast players.
''The only way they can outsmart us is if they threaten us from the counterattack because they have such players, quick, fast.
''We have to hold the ball, wait and play our organized football because we are better, disciplined, stronger on the ball, better one on one ''
Igho Kingsley

mazimee: All of them seems to be talking about our speed and physicality, If this was such a huge advantage, why havn't we gone far in the World Cup? Abi we developed this quality over night. Physicality can be an advantage if applied effectively. Germany is a team that uses this together with being tactical and technical. We used this against Argentina and destroyed them with only 5 shots on target. African teams are physical but not as intelligent or efficient thus a lot of running often leads to nowhere. |
