deomelo: 1. The single largest public works transportation project in Africa at the moment is in Lagos state, Nigeria aka 10 lane Badagry express, BRT access, Lagos Metro Rail.
2. There are 4 major world class Terminals under construction as we speak, plus the already commissioned Ikeja Terminal to ease trafic.
3. At least 2 Major flyovers are under construction and many already commissioned.
4. Many laybys are under construction and many already commissioned
5. Lagos Cable car is still on track.
All together, we are talking about multi billion dollar transportation investments.
Why many of you try to form knowledge and end up sounding ignorant beats me. I am definitely aware of all the projects you have stated. These are great efforts for which the net result would be to improve traffic flow across the state. But it is still a drop in an ocean and the state needs to do more. The focus here is strictly about planning ahead in regards good road networks and proper city planning. Lagos is yet to get with the program. |

Afamed: Even the most developed cities in the world are not living in Isolation of busy traffic. The ability to manage the traffic is what stands them out which Lagos is emulating through creating the Lastmas, BRT, new roads networking and others. Its easier to criticize from far. The traffic in Lagos is many levels above average and one of the worst in the world. There efforts to ameliorate the situation no doubt. What is happening right now is reactionary. They need to plan ahead. We have the opportunity to correct the wrongs of Apapa and much of Eti Osa lg. Lekki phase one lacks any sort of town planning and road network is bad. Having only one major road for the Lekki Epe area is bad planning for a start. |

Afamed: Can you know more than the state government? Just a month ago over 200 roads were commissioned in Lagos state. To enlighten you more, more flyover bridges are daily built in Lagos. When Lekki sea port is completed, it will totally take away the pressure from the present Apapa port. Bearing in mind lekki and Apapa ports are not situated in similar direction/ locations. If the state govt knew what they were doing Lagos would not be so congested with insane traffic. It seems people have settled for the way things are and cannot think outside the box. Do a comparison of km of roads with other major cities with less population and see that Lagos is lagging. Fore sight and expertise in city planning is lacking. |

Lagos is headed for total chaos in the future if it does not plan adequate accessibility to and from this port. They need more roads (and rail of course ) than they are planning, but they don't know yet or have a clue. |

Why do our governments shy away from these? Lagos, and Nigeria in general, has a long way to go. |

sufferNsmiling: Please do not blame our government . That is what nigerians want and like we nigerians know who can build a country who can develop a country. But we will not vote for them all we nigerians like to vote for are criminals even nigerians in uk,america ,europe and abroad we will always vote for a criminal to lead nigerian community. So do not blame our government we are so illiterate that do not know right from left good from bad see a criminal we are happy to follow him we nigerians in europe we tell you dear white people did nothing for nigeria so is better we follow criminals. So that is a behaviour you cannot see in any country when nigerians will vote for somebody to develop them its only crime they want. The way you make your bed so you lie on it. We nigerians are known as criminal worshippers. In reality people have been brainwashed into electing criminals but that is changing slowly. |

autojosh: Lagos state is not famous for the best traffic experiences. Unarguably, the traffic situation in the state is what makes the state the most stressful place to reside in Nigeria.
However, the current administration has so far demonstrated an impressive resolve to ameliorate the suffering of the residents brought about by the most horrendous road traffic experiences.
Gov. Akinwumi Ambode has constructed and reconstructed several road transport infrastructure in Lagos. For instance, He has built several many roads, Bridges and Flyovers. He has also constructed lay numerous bys and slip roads.
The Governor has also built and commissioned some ultra-modern bus tops and bus terminals. Hundreds of BRT buses have been acquired. Many more buses are still being acquired.
In addition, he has sanitized many once notorious bus-stops.
https://i63.tinypic.com/104qcyx.jpg
Despite all these, Lagosians still groan over the horrific traffic experience.
It goes without saying: a lot more needs to be done to ease the mass transit in Lagos state.
No matter how much we celebrate the commissioning of new bus terminals and bus stops, the state still craves for far more effective transport infrastructure and policies.
https://i65.tinypic.com/2ugnp5g.jpg
So, if you were in Gov. Ambode’s shoes, what 2 strategic transport infrastructure or policy would you introduce to significantly improve mass transit in Lagos state?
Kindly drop your comment in the comments section.
Hey! You never know, the Governor might be reading this!

https://autojosh.com/if-you-were-ambode-what-2-things-would-you-do-to-improve-the-traffic-situations-in-lagos/ Ignorance bothers me. You cannot expect our traffic situation to be solved by lay-bys and flyovers alone. Study the problem scientifically. Step out and look at the problem from a holistic stand point. This problem has a simple solution but will take lots of work to get it done. I hear Ambode was engaging Japanese consultants to solve our transportation problem. This is not hard Many stadiums are built with quick evacuation designs and it is possible to evacuate thousands in seconds. This method need to be applied to transportation. It is not rocket science. This alludes to my previous comment on the implementation. Problem source: The road network in Lagos is designed for cities of around 3 million people. Most streets do not have the capacity to facilitate heavy vehicular movement. |
